Fantastic stay at the beautiful hotel Umbral to celebrate our friends' wedding and as an early anniversary trip for ourselves. Location is perfect for the sites of Centro and very close to several metro stops for getting into the rest of the city. Beds and showers were fantastic, breakfast was top notch, and the secret hotel bar (hint—go through the gift shop) was worth dropping in! Shoutout to my guy Kevin, the concierge, for always bringing his A-game.
The staff were soooo amazing I want to give them 5 stars solely for that reason. The ascetic of the hotel was nice. The room I was in wasn't worth the price. I'll just leave it at that because I beleive it might have just been my room and that was the only complaint of this hotel (with the exception of the rooftop restaurant. I left a separate review under their Google review. 😑). If you're wanting to see the sites in the Historic Center, looking for late night good eats, and a little bar hoping, great location. Nothing was more than a light 10 min. walk.
Absolutely loved this hotel, from the minute Eduardo checked us into our room early, complimentary drinks (beer) from 6:00 to 8:00, free water all day. Woke up to a delicious breakfast at the roof top, and for our last night we had a really good diner of fish, flan, with espresso Martini. Also a great choice for American platinum rewards! (300$ half year credit + a tons of instant rewards and upgrades!)
The service and location of the hotel is top notch. We got in super early and left super late. The hotel staff was very accommodating and friendly offering us a place to hangout. We had breakfast at their restaurant located at the top floor. They served Mexican food, which was great for us as it allowed us to try a lot of Mexican food. The outdoor pool is a bit tiny and there was one day they had a party at the top floor during the day and didn’t let us know.
I had Umbral host my entire wedding guests, they were incredible. Organized our rooms according, the terraza was such a memorable spot for my guests to hang out. They accommodated everyone in the best way possible. The rooms are so unique and fun, you really escape into another moment in time. In another post, I would love to show my wedding photos taken here because they are SPECTACULAR. Groomsmen got to hang out in the theatre room while I got dressed in the suites. I have never been taken care of so well, I was in a true dream. Whether youre hosting a wedding or if youre going to visit and want to be in the thick of centro historico--Umbral is the best home. Cannot wait to come back.
