Stopped into the lobby bar for a drink to take in the beautiful architecture of the hotel. Truly stunning. Carlos our server was prompt and accommodating.

This historic hotel won't disappointed, however ladies be prepared to be treated like you don't exist if you're with a man. Apparently their still in the dark ages, the hotel staff would only acknowledge and greet my husband wherever we went. So disappointing, I felt a like ghost. I have never experienced this and we travel a lot.
The Gran Hotel Ciudad de México is a true architectural gem. Built in 1899 in the Art Nouveau style, it makes a stunning first impression with its spectacular Tiffany stained-glass ceiling, composed of more than 20,000 pieces assembled on site. Its elegant gilded elevator with stained-glass panels, one of the oldest still operating in Latin America, adds to the building’s timeless charm. The hotel is also famous for appearing in the opening sequence of *SPECTRE* (2015), where James Bond makes his entrance before the spectacular helicopter chase during the Día de los Muertos celebrations. Even if you’re not staying there, it’s well worth a visit to admire this remarkable piece of Mexico City’s architectural heritage. Note: I was not a guest at the hotel, so i cannot speak about the accommodations or services. However, I was welcomed to take pictures and admire the architecture and lobby.
Airline delay. Emailed property advising. They responded and acknowledged. I arrived to discover they had canceled my reservation. Over an hour to fix, including showing them their email confirmation of delay! On top of that, they charged for the day they cancelled and had let the room to another ( which was part of the hour plus check in delay so they could service the room!) The room itself is ok. Nothing great. Not the suite I requested. Just a tiny, no view room looking out at amstorage space Breakfast buffet at Terrace just frustrating. Waited in line for an omelet over 20 minutes. Solo cook was busy with à la carte orders. Skip the overpriced buffet. Order à la carte or room service, although I can’t imagine how to dine in this tiny room. Put service request at 10 AM to have room made up. 1720, return to no service. Called front àdesk who claimed I had do not disturb sign on door I can read. Apparently they can’t. Never again. Thoroughly disgusted with this trap
Our room was exceptional. The balcony was stunning. But I couldn’t imagine finding a hotel with better service or more beautiful history. The real highlight of my trip was the friendly folks that work at this hotel. Isaías spent more than 30 minutes with my girlfriend and I explaining the intricate details and history of this hotel to us. And this was all before we even checked in. When I return next year, it’ll be because of the staff. Thank you for your generosity, Isaías!
