Christos was a wonderful tour guide for us. He shared a lot of history about the monasteries, monks and nuns. He‘s also from the area and pointed out some of the hikers and rock climbers. It was a beautiful day and he was always there to answer our questions.

We had an amazing one-day tour of Meteora, and it was one of the highlights of our trip to Greece. The experience of visiting Meteora was absolutely spectacular and mind-blowing! Such an incredible place, like nothing else I've ever experienced. The ride there and back on the bus was very long and could have been made more comfortable (I wasn't overly impressed with the attitude of the drivers if I'm being honest and the service from that perspective left a lot to be desired) but once we arrived in Kalambaka and met up with our tour guide Clemens, everything was very good - Clemens was very knowledgeable and entertaining and just a great communicator from the moment he stepped on the bus. Very large crowds at each stop and limited time due to the nature of the tour, but still an unforgettable experience.

We highly recommend Meteora Thrones Travel Center their service has been amazing from the time I booked the tour, to the questions I had before the day and to the actual day itself. Our tour guide Eugenia was fantastic, her knowledge of the area and history was first class, a lovely young lady. Our driver Stefanos was also fantastic and made us feel relaxed driving to each of the monasteries and around the local area. Highly recommend doing a private tour as it’s so much easy being driven and not have to worry about the parking, plus they know where to stop for the best photo opportunities. The monasteries itself are well worth a visit and only cost €5 per person, this is the only extra cost you need to pay after the initial tour booking fee. The scenery is breathtaking and the monasteries are amazing built on top of the rocks, well worth a visit, best tour in Greece :)

Great tour with a great guide Christos. He asked what we were interested in and tailored the experience to our interests. He was very courteous and helpful. My daughter uses a wheelchair and he had great tips and suggestions for getting around.

We booked a private tour with Meteora Thrones and overall, it was a fantastic experience. Being picked up directly from the cruise port made everything seamless, and having the flexibility to move at our own pace was a huge plus. We were warmly greeted by Eugenia and Steffano, who made the long drive enjoyable and informative. Once we arrived at the monasteries, the views were absolutely breathtaking—it’s hard to fathom how these incredible structures were built atop such towering rocks. Eugenia gave us a rich historical overview and even helped us capture some truly memorable photos. Lunch was delicious, and we appreciated the chance to sample local delicacies before heading back. We were also grateful that we were allowed to bring food onboard—something we didn’t realize was normally not permitted. The only reason I’m not giving a full 5 stars is due to a hiccup during pickup. We couldn’t locate our guide at first, and when we asked another Meteora Thrones staff member for help, she dismissed us rather rudely. It was a frustrating moment that could’ve been handled with more courtesy. That said, the rest of the tour was exceptional, and we’d still recommend Meteora Thrones for anyone looking to explore this awe-inspiring region with knowledgeable guides and personalized service.

Chris, our tour guide for our private tour of 7 friends was excellent! He designed the tour such that we could catch views as the sun was hitting them. Also, he knew the perfect places to stop for those photo opportunities as well as timing our stops before or after the big bus crowds. The van was comfortable, well air conditioned and we got the most our of our full day in Meteora with a stop for lunch, customized stops based on our interest and physical conditions! I highly recommend this tour for anyone that really wants to experience Meteora and learn the history about the area.

The company and guides were amazing to deal with, they took us to some off the beaten path areas to view the first caves the monks stayed in. Really enjoyed the private tour.

Our private tour with Chris in Meteora was amazing. He was thoughtful, knowledgeable kind a safe Driver and flexible I would highly recommend him.

I had a restricted date (the day before Easter!) and despite needing transportation by car from Thessaloniki due to trains not running, Meteora Thrones was quick to work with me. They were extremely responsive and quick to communicate with any and all questions and needs I had. Even more, Nancy, our guide, was absolutely fabulous. She was friendly and offered us her extensive knowledge of the monasteries, both history and the best vantage points for viewing them. She recommended which monasteries to visit based on the needs of our group, but was also fully open to any requests. She had advice for everything and made our day extremely easy and fun. The sites themselves are of course beautiful. Nancy recommended a local spot for lunch, phoned them and made a reservation for us, and even took me to the kitchen to point out her recommendations for dishes. She fueled up while we ate, then surprised us with local halva as a treat. (All this after making the drive to and from Thessaloniki twice in one day!). It was a truly special day (the standout of our entire trip!) and I recommend her and Meteora Thrones wholeheartedly.

Christos met us at the port in Thessaloniki and took us to see the monasteries at Meteora. He grew up in that area and was able to take us to places we would not have been able to find. Not only did he know the area, but he knew the history. Because of his careful timing we were able to see 3 monasteries. Then lunch at a very nice outdoor Cafe, I belive it was in Kastraki. The back to the ship. In all it was a 12 hour day. We really liked Chris and would love to have him and his family visit us.

Meteora Thrones went above and beyond to provide a personal trip for us. We were staying at a resort where other companies wouldn’t pick up from and provided us a private tour to enable us to see a bucket list location. Our guide Nancy was good company, knowledgable and flexed our day to suit us and other tourists that day to ensure we visited at the best times. Awesome experience and awesome customer service! We had a wonderful experience with our driver “Sake” and our local licensed tour guide “Georgia“. They both shared a wealth of knowledge with us. Georgia went into one monastery with us and gave us a wealth of explanation of the fresco’s. Sake Gave us a lot of information about the local area, geology, etc. We learned a ton of things from both of them which we would not have known otherwise, highly recommend doing Meteora with this agency. We also did not feel rushed.

Nancy was an amazing tour guide and person. Knowledgeable, helpful, and overall wonderful. She showed us all the amazing sites and knew the best order so we avoided crowds and did the most challenging steps first. I hope you are lucky enough to get her as your tour guide.

We had a lovely time with Nancy, she was very knowledgeable about the area including how the rocks formed, how life at the monasteries is like, etc. She showed us pictures of one that can only be visited twice a year. I had the feeling she really wanted us to have a great experience :)

We left from Thessaloniki by bus, tickets organized by meteora thrones. It was really ease to follow the instructions and get to Kalambaka. In Kalabaca Christos was waiting for us. We had the possibility to visit and sightsee the monasteries and the hermit caves. Christos was very attentive and explained all details and history linked to Meteora. We loved it and hugely recommend it. Thank you Christos for taking good care of us.

We had the best tour of the Meteor monasteries with Meteora Thrones Travel. Our driver, Nikos, was friendly, helpful and got us where we needed to go safely and on time. Maria, our lovely guide, spoke excellent French and provided us with the perfect amount of insider information not only about the monasteries but also about the history and geology of the region. Our family of three did a private tour of Meteora with Meteora Thrones. It was a convenient and comfortable ride in a mini van with hotel pick up and drop off. Christos was an excellent driver-guide, giving us the history of the area and patiently showed us many interesting angles to view the rocks and monasteries. An added bonus was his recommendation for a delicious dinner!

Our guide and vehicle operator Christos was very professional, friendly and extremely understanding of our need and capacity. He stopped over at places which normally people does not go and the pictures we took were breathtaking and a lifelong memory. It was sad that we couldn't see the sunset as it happens pretty late in summer. That's my recommendation to stay back in Meteora to watch the sunset.

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience touring around Meteora, Kalabaka town & Kastraki village. Our driver and guide, Nancy, was very professional, arriving promptly, asking for our preferences, and offering great suggestions on how to proceed. Taking this private tour was an excellent decision. It’s so worth it to be able to dictate the tour the way we like without having to wait for other people, explore the monasteries at our own pace, as well as enjoy and admire each view longer without being worried about returning to the car late. We got the best guide in the company- thank you, Christos! Nothing compares to having a local guide who has the knowledge of Meteora’s history from millions of years ago. He gave us choices of monasteries to visit and took the time to tell important facts about each of them. He took us to several scenic viewpoints and patiently helped us to take memorable shots in different angles. And best of all, he took us where we can come back to watch the sunset! The views, everywhere he took us, were all jaw-dropping! So unique geological formations! This, indeed, was an experience of a lifetime!

Just simply a GREAT GREAT day. Our tour guide, Christos, was amazing. Picked us up on time and geared the tour to our pace, interests, and needs. As avid photographers he brought us to just fantastic viewpoints and gave us the time we wanted to get the best shots. Living with diabetes I needed to have a "real" lunch stop and he brought us back into town to an excellent small cafe to get a quick bite. Having grown up in the area, his knowledge and love of the region added so much to the experience. Do not think of doing this tour on your own. Parking is a nightmare and having a guide to drop you off and pick you up at the entrances of the monasteries is worth every penny.

We had a wonderful experience with Nancy from Meteora Thrones as our tour guide. Her knowledge and efficiency allowed us to go inside 4 of the 6 monasteries during our tour. We also were able to stop at several great spots along the way for pictures. The minivan was extremely comfortable and more than accommodated our private party of four. We ended our tour with a delightful and delicious lunch in Kalambaka. We highly recommend this tour option and strongly suggest that you request Nancy as your guide.

My wife and I had such a wonderful tour with Christos from Meteora Thrones Travel Center. This was our first time visiting the area. Extremely knowledgeable, friendly and courteous (she actually has her masters in this subject area). We learned so much about certain parts of the monastery and its history. The tour guide Nancy was so incredibly sweet and kind hearted, and so informative about the area. She helped us to have the best day of our life. I will remember her always!

We are two sets of couples who enjoy traveling together. Everywhere we go we hire guides from Viator. Two people in our small group have difficulty walking so we find we need to modify our tours and hire private guides. We have never been disappointed. In Meteora we were amazed by the views. Our Guide, Christos was exceptional and honestly the best we have ever had. He was extremely well informed, personable and went out of his way to make our day memorable. Without him we would never known the rich history of the area, beginning with the arrival of the first monks who dwelt in caves. He took us to historic sites and churches, showed us the best viewing sites for the current monasteries and saw to our every need. As we were enjoying lunch on the patio of a local restaurant, the Olympic torched passed by! Christos chased down the photo for us. What an unforgettable journey!

We had a full day tour of Meteora with Nancy as our guide. It was a private tour, just my husband and I. Nancy was AMAZING with not only her wealth of knowledge, but the planning of our day to best avoid the crowded entries into the monasteries. As we had asked for an English speaking guide, we loved that Nancy spoke clearly, loudly, and slowly so we could both hear and understand everything she said. She pointed out many things along the way, took us to many beautiful view points for photos, of course, took us to the monestaries, and told us all the local and historical stories that went along with what we were seeing. She never tired of our many questions, and was able to answer all!!! We couldn’t thank Nancy enough for such a WONDERFUL day!!!! We learned so much and made a new friend as well!

This is not a guided tour but simply a taxi transportation that we have to pay USD180. I think it does not worth at all especially we actually have our own car to transport. The purpose that we sign up for the tour is to get as much as insights/stories/information about meteora and the monestaries. Apparantely, the information was very basic and little. No story at all about monestaries since we were dropped at the enterence and we have do the self tour.

2 hours shorter tour than previously, missed hermit site,, random half accurate information, only 2 monasteries visited, totally rushed, instead of info about area and monasteries had to listen to silly old jokes about mother in law etc, over 5 hours train each way, very different experience from year ago, sad

Christos picked us up at the hotel in the morning. He was so knowledgeable about the area and the Monasteries. He lives in the area so took us to locations for amazing photos. The Meteora region of Greece is breathtaking. The history of the Monasteries are fascinating. There was plenty of time at each Monasteries we visited. We were able to go into 3 of the 7. Well worth the trip.

We had a fantastic time with our tour guide/driver Antonis. He made our tour very special with a lot of local insights because he was born and raised in Kalambaka. He adjusted the tour to match what we wanted to see. With time left on our tour he added sights that were off the beaten track. His knowledge of the history of the area was exceptional.

Excellence and Commitment are only two words to describe my experience with Meteora Thrones. I would add at least two more: great communication and attention to details. From the day I contacted Meteora Thrones, the outstanding staff gave me the confidence that I was in good hands. I asked for an individual-private tour of the monasteries in Kalambaka, including an additional hiking tour, and the four-day / three-night experience was positive, extremely effective, informative, and certainly an opportunity to meet the most delightful and caring people. I recommend the staff without any reservation: Konstantina and Maria at the main office, Clement the hiking tour guide, and above all, Antonis who guided my tours of the monasteries and Kalambaka in general. Antonis was prompt, charismatic, knowledgeable, patient, and friendly. At the end of the third and last tour with him, Antonis invited me to a lunch gathering at Tavern Taximi with two of his colleagues, Dimitris and Bagelis. This was the best way to get to know the way and places where locals meet and have a great time. My words in this review are filled with the gratitude of an extremely happy and satisfied customer who recommends the staff of Meteora Thrones for all your needs when visiting this region of Greece.

We greatly enjoyed the private tour with our guide Antonio. Antonio showed up on time and we conveyed our desires and constraints for the private tour. He came up with a detailed plan to meet our needs, and in addition to showing us the monasteries he also took us to a variety of hidden local places we had never heard of that were extremely interesting. Throughout he provided detailed information about the monasteries and region and answered all of our questions including those about Greece and Greeks in general. He was kind and considerate and always looking for ways to make the tour experience better for us. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the area.

Beautiful experience! Christos was knowledgeable about where to go and what to see. Some monasteries are closed due to days of the week, and he knew that as well! Highly recommend, if your limited on time and unsure what to see, just do this. You will not regret!
