Join this morning hiking tour to Meteora and fully experience this true marvel accompanied by a knowledgeable local mountain guide. After a convenient pick-up (with our VIP minibus) from your hotel in Kalabaka or Kastraki the hike starts from the foothills of Meteora. During this guided tour you will have the opportunity to follow the 15 centuries old footsteps of the first monks by walking through “hidden trails” that only the locals know. You will discover the jaw-dropping “hidden” monastery of Ypapanti and view the ancient Ruins of St. Dimitrios. Additionally you will visit the monastery of Great Meteoron or Varlaam (depending on the day of the hike) and learn all about the history and legends directly from your local mountain guide. Last but not least, you will have the time to enjoy the breathtaking panoramic views and capture some amazing photos that you will cherish forever.
Tour started with a visit to Varlam monastery and the hiking part commenced at 10.15. Very enjoyable trail, steep section to start first 5/10min and then very easy for the remaining section, all downhill. Would have preferred a smaller group personally, we were tagged onto a group visiting from Athens, but guide was great (John), weather was beautiful and the context was stunning!
This is a great way to experience the beauty of the area plus get the background of the story of the monasteries and the monks.

The hiking trip to the monasteries exceeded our expectations. The weather was perfect, sunny & not too warm. Our guide, Katerina was very pleasant & knowledgeable & we appreciated her suggestion of doing the hardest part first when we were fresh & well rested. The hidden monasteries on the sides of the cliffs were spectacular & definitely worth hiking to the end.
Well organized with a small group and a knowledgable guide. Hike was not too hard. Perfect way to escape the crowd! .....

Amazingly beautiful hike through the towers of Meteora. The hike started in Kastraki and ended at the sunset rock. In all, we were hiking about 3.5 hours. Nicklaus was an amazing guide! Highly recommend him…
Our gude Chris truely showed us all the hidden WONDERS and trails of Meteora, and shared his great knowledge of the history, geology, geography...meterology...you name it... of Meteora mountains, and monasteries ;-)
We were fortunate to have Christos as our guide for our hike. He taught us about the various plants and herbs in the woods…very informative and fun! Beautiful trails. He has been named « teacher « and rightly so. Highly recommend.

Last week we went hiking with Giorgos from Meteora trip. We made the reservation last minute, the night before. Thanks to their good communication and organisation this was no problem. We had an amazing time hiking to the Meteora monasteries, two of whom we visited. The local guide gave us a lot of interesting information, not only about the monasteries, but also about the surrounding nature and Greece in general. We were picked up and dropped of at the hotel. We highly recommend this experience to everyone who wants to get the maximum out of his Meteora visit.
An exceptional morning. Breathtaking panoramas. Of the 3 monasteries where we stopped for visits, Varlaam was the one I liked the most. A true splendor. Photo stops along the way are scheduled. We had a very good driver, patient and reassuring, last minute in a medium-sized bus exceptionally that day. And a great guide. Everything is in English, but an audio guide is offered in French and in various other languages. I really recommend this tour!
Very beautiful morning at the Meteora. Meeting at 9:00 AM, 3 minutes on foot from our hotel. Friendly and interesting guide. Beautiful visits (5 euros per monastery). Sublime place and visit of 3 monasteries (2 to 3 monasteries are closed each day in rotation). We had booked for a private minibus; in fact, it was a coach for 40 people, most of whom came for the previous evening and the full day. Well-appreciated comments in English, free QR code for other languages. Don't forget your headphones.
That was awesome! Only three monasteries. It's not that exhausting. Plus stops on observation decks. Great neat driver. Super polite guide. Picked up in time. Took me to the bus station. Thanks again!
Our guide Nicolas knew a lot about the area and history. Nice to experience the surroundings on foot and to get to places that are not possible by car. The distance and pace were doable. Definitely recommended!
Excellent hiking in the heart of a privileged site. The setting is splendid and our guide Nicolas was perfect. The view of the monasteries at sunset is beautiful.
