Meteora All Monasteries Tour With Photo Stops

The best way to see all of the monasteries! We had a great experience with this small group tour. Christina was our very knowledgeable and kind guide, and Nikolaos was our professional driver! They took us to all the monasteries without the stress of having to find a carpark! I would highly recommend this tour if you want to enjoy the beauty of this magical place ⭐️

We loved our trip to Meterora. We were lucky enough to have the best tour guide - Khristina. Due to a break down with the shared bus, we had Khristina all to ourselves! Not only was she incredibly knowledgeable, but she was very kind and sweet. I was having a very off day and was quite unwell. She took care of me like a mother would. She even went to get me some medicine and crackers. She showed us all the sights, took pictures of my husband and I. It was a very memorable day and completely worth it! I highly recommend this tour!

Our tour of the Meterora Monasteries was one of the best experiences of our travels. Our guide Khristine brought the region to life with her knowledge of the history, features and day to day working of the monasteries. I particularly enjoyed the explanation of the art and iconography that is a feature of the Orthodox Churches. Plenty of very good photo stops highlighting the blending of the Monasteries into the geology of the spectacular landscape. Truely an impressive experience.

We had a tour with our guide Lena and our driver Crazy Nikos! What a terrific tour from two wonderful guides. We were very fortunate to be the only couple so we got a private tour. We visited three monasteries and many viewing points and got many great photos. Lena was extremely knowledgeable about the history and religious importance of Meteora and made sure we knew everything about each monastery we visited to maximize the time we had there. She also included some visits to views that were away from the crowds. In addition to driving, Nikos helped take some amazing photos! We were especially pleased that Lena and Nikos adjusted our tour to allow for my wife’s mobility issue. All in all this was a great experience and would highly recommend. Ask for Nikos and Lena specifically!

This was the way to see the Monastaries. In a small group you're taken to a few of the sites with time to visit them inside, with a guide who is knowledgable, engaging, simply wonderful.

Even though we arrived in late September, a little bit past peak tourist season, the roads to the monasteries and the parking at the top can be difficult for even the best drivers. So we booked a tour guide and driver to see it without those hassles. Guide Areti and driver Thannis were wonderful and informative, adding several stops along the way that were slightly off the beaten path but totally worth seeing. As the morning turned to afternoon, the tour busses started rolling in, so we were glad to have seen the biggest monastery earlier in the day. When the fog rolled in, it made the driving in more hairy, but Thannis was a pro. Once the official tour wrapped, they took us to the 11th century church in the centre of town (definitely worth a visit) and a viewpoint where we could see all of Kalambaka with the mountains in the distance. All told, this will be a memory of Greece we will likely never forget. Note: proper footwear is strongly recommended and bring cash because some monasteries don’t take cards. While the monasteries insist on proper dress, they have pants and skirts for visitors to borrow.

Joanna gave us an excellent tour of Meteora. She is extremely knowledgeable, well spoken, and friendly!! We were able to visit 3 of the monasteries but viewed them all. We had time to take many pictures and learned so much. Would highly highly recommend this tour. We were a small group of 4 but the maximum size is only 8, so very personal and intimate. Out of respect, men should wear long pants and women long skirts, but the monasteries provide a skirt should you not have one.

We enjoyed this tour very much. Joanna was very informative and gave us so much history and understanding of the area. Kosta was a superb driver and picked us up at the train station which was easy to find and had plenty of parking for us. We enjoyed many stops to take pictures and revel in the beauty. We visited 3 monasteries and we enjoyed each one. We had a small group of 4 but her maximum is only 8. Very personal and interactive. We can’t recommend Joanna and her tour enough!!

Excellent tour. Very acknowledgeable and friendly tour guides. She also knows all the best spots to get some good pictures. Highly recommend if you want a tour that isn’t super extensive, but shows the essentials of Meteora.

Joanna was a great guide! She provides a lot of information, is very accommodating, and has a great personality that allows you to connect with her. She provided us great recommendations for things to do and was very kind to take exceptional pictures at picture perfect opportunities. The driver gave us water halfway through the trip which was excellent.

When you return after a tour and know you enjoyed every moment of it, you know you were on a winner! This was a delightful tour. There was very little walking, plenty of photo stops and time to visit 3 of the monasteries. Joanna, our guide, also took photos of us on our phone at many scenic locations. Our guide Ionna was a star! She had great information for us and told us everything we wanted to know about the monasteries and the Meteora area. Personable, knowledgeable, and friendly, she was a fantastic host and guide. She is also made sure to offer to take a many photos so you get some great shots. Highly recommend

This was probably the best bus tour I've ever been on. The group was very small, only 3 tourists, and they said there is never more than 7. The guide is very nuce, knowledgeable and personable, passionate about history. We were not rushed and took the time to explore and take million pictures. A++

Everything was great: from communication bf tour until the end. The guide Ioanna was excellent: educated, with deep knowledge in history, art and culture, diplomatic and very warm and smiley person. She was informing us about every detail for our comfort (better to choose path or stairs, best points for photos, what to watch inside of the monasteries and their sequence etc.), she was incredibly caring about every detail during all the time we had together. Kalabaka itself and Meteora monasteries impressed me a lot, I want to come back soon.

Our one-day trip started and ended at Athens. After 4.5 hrs bus ride we met our tour guide Joanna and our driver Kostas at Kalambaka and started our 5-hour Meteora tour. In early March it's not very busy, only my wife and I showed up for this tour. We got all Joanna's time and attention. Joanna is very friendly and professional. She grew up there, and knows so much about the local culture, traditions, history, architecture, people, weather, and more. She explained everything we wanted to know plus more. She suggested many photographs spots, and took a lot of pictures for us. Our driver Kostas is very skilled driver. He stopped at best spots to keep our walking to minimum, and we were totally at ease while he was negotiating the winding road. Our 5-hour tour was fully packed and we ended up with a great experience and a lot wonderful photos. -- Brent

I had a wonderful day and the privilege of being just me and my wife in the minibus that transported us in conditions of maximum comfort and kindness to Meteora. As for the guide, I can only say that she is a professional and very well-trained lady, who provided us with much more information than we expected about the sights we visited and more. With great kindness, he invited us to various places with special view points in which to take pictures of us so that the memories from Meteora remain unforgettable. We recommend with confidence!!!!

Our guide was very knowledgeable and went the extra mile to make sure that everyone was comfortable. The monasteries are just incredible and the whole area is so beautiful and peaceful. More than words can describe and pictures do not do justice too.

We booked a 2 private tours with Meteora Tours and it turned out to be one of the best experiences we had in Greece. Right from the time when I got in touch with them, my experience was excellent. I always received replies to my queries promptly and clearly. Since the trains don’t run directly between Athens & Kalambaka currently we had to switch from train to bus at Paleopharsal. And when we arrived at Kalambaka the van was waiting for us. Our driver Costas & tour leader Ioanna were amazing! Ioanna gave us all the information we needed which made the visit to each monastery more interesting. Ioanna was definitely the best guide we had in Greece. I would highly recommend this company to anyone planning to visit Meteora

This is a must do Tour. We started just after midday and returned around 5pm. Our Driver Nikos and our Tour Guide Joanna were second to none. We learned and saw so much during this time. Having Joanna as our tour guide made such a big difference as we were able to absorb all there was to know and do at this majestic site. We were able to wonder through each monastery with our new found knowledge, enhancing our time at every monastery. The photo stops were an absolute bonus and we definitely would not have achieved such amazing pics without our guide. This tour is recommended for solo travellers, couples, families and friends. Thank you for an amazing time.

It is not only a sightseeing tour but a visit where you learn alot. Joanna, our guide, was very friendly and knowledgeable. Only positive things to say sbout the driver as well (so sorry I don’t remember his name). They were a great team and very accomodating.

This tour was absolutely wonderful! Even the ride to the monastery and looking at the countryside and the various towns was a wonderful way to explore Greece on limited time. The tour guides Jonna and Thanous were absolutely patient with us. We loved.listening to her stories and explanations. She answered all of our questions about some other things we have seen but didn't understand in full. They were so good to us, they could venture out themselves onto their own private tour guided mini groups such as hosting at a local house in or near the town near Meteora and show travelers so much more of the Greece most don't know about. They made it very interesting.

Our tour guide Mr. Thanos is very much familiar with all the nice places in meteora. We feel safe with him all throughout out tour. Apart from being handsome, he is very helpful and accommodating tour guide (ektós apó ómorfos, eínai polý exypiretikós kai exypiretikós xenagós). We will definitely recommend him to our friends who would be traveling to Meteora anytime.

If you are looking for a half day fully immersive tour of the Meteora, this is for you. Christina, our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and engaging. We were picked up at our hotel on time and then on to one of several amazing photo stops. We visited 3 of the several monasteries and unless you have a particular interest in this field, that is enough. The views from all are incredible and really what we came for. Our memories are captured in the numerous photos, many of which Christina took, from several well planned vantages. Great service by Christine and our driver Nikolas. Its a jammed packed 3-4 hours and well worth the ticket price.

We did this tour as a day trip from Athens and were met at the train station by Nikos (our driver) and Christina (our guide). They were both very fun and did a great job of giving us as much time to look around and take pictures as possible without cutting it too close for our return train. Christina was engaging and fun to listen to and she was very informative. Both Christina and Nikos were enthusiastic and made sure we came home with some fun photos. We really enjoyed our tour and would recommend it to anyone.

The tour was fantastic. Only a small group of 8. Mr Nikos( our driver) and Virtue ( our guide) were friendly, informative and passionate about Meteora. The took us to the monasteries with great timing managing to be ahead of big tour groups thus avoiding big queues. A small group is the way to do a tour if you can manage it.

Our trip to the Meteora monasteries was an absolute dream! Our very nice tour guide Areti took us to the monasteries (some we could also visit from the inside) and gave us a lot of interesting information about the history. She also answered all our questions extremely kindly and competenty. Areti took us to numerous photo stops that we would never have found on our own. We were absolutely thrilled with our excursion, as well as with our wonderful tour guide, who introduced us to her homeland with a lot of charisma and enthusiasm. We definitely recommend this tour!!!

Amazing tour, will probably be the highlight of our month long trip! Our tour guide was awesome, I forget her name unfortunately, but she was a local to Kalambaka, a wealth of information and very sweet! Breathtaking views and stories, this tour can’t and shouldn’t be missed!

Amazing scenery, but would be helpful to know the enormous amount of steps involved. If you book it after April 2023, keep in mind the train schedule was changed and early train was canceled and you will only have 3 hours which is definitely not enough, we felt rushed. Book a hotel and rent a car. The tour guide tried his best , but it was exhausting with a limited time, we still glad we went.

This was a great trip! Despite the difficulties of transportation to get to Meteora, Christina was extremely patient and communicative with us during the entire time. We were very grateful that they accommodated the delay and still provided us with an amazing tour. The monasteries and town are gorgeous. Christina was able to provide a good overview of the area and explain the history of each location. I would definitely recommend this tour.
