Great tour of Meteora, taking us for a gorgeous sunset with multiple monasteries as a part of the view. Great guide and very nice itinerary, even stopping to let us go inside one of the monasteries.

The tour more than met our expectations. It was well organised and the guide Yannis (John) was excellent and exceptionally knowledgeable and informative. The driver George's (George) was a careful and conscientious driver. It was certainly excellent value for money. We wish all at Meteora Thrones continued success.
Great tour, highly recommend when visiting Meteora
You get to see all six monasteries, and go inside one. It also stops at other points of interest along the way. The sunset was gorgeous!
The guide had a great sense of humor and was extremely knowledgeable. The driver did an amazing job in very tight spaces. I thought the tour was perfect! I also did not remember where to meet my tour and they picked us up and dropped us off at the hotel--above and beyond !! Great service!!
We had a great experience and a wonderful introduction to Meteora. Way better than trying to navigate the sights on your own and you learn so much more. A+
Beautiful and informative tour, both our tour guide and driver were awesome, informative, helpful and fun to be around!
Beautiful views of the monasteries. Great experience meeting the nuns in the little shop. Very friendly. Tour guide was extremely informative. Sunset was magical. Seeing all of the monasteries was very mystical and so far the best place I’ve been in Greece.
Well Demitris was a laugh and his knowledge was incredible. The tour was great value for money and the finale to our holiday - the sunset - was just beautiful. Thanks to Dimitris and his driver. It was a great evening.
You won't necessarily see a lot of the monasteries but you'll understand why thanks to an excellent guide who offers a more authentic perspective.
Amazing! I did the morning tour the same day and was really happy that this tour was going to a different monastery, so I was able to visit 4 in total. Also, the hermitage caves and the church were super interesting. Not to mention the outerworldly sunset experience. Special thanks to our guide Yannis, who provided so much information about culture, religion, geology, etc. all with a great sense of humor. Highly recommended, even when you did the morning tour.
Wonderful experience also due to our guide Nicholas, who shared with us plenty of information about geographical, geological, historical and religious data of this unique place. The tour was very well organized, our driver was skilled and careful and made us feel safe. We were very happy for taking the decision to join a guided tour, there were a lot of things that we could have not been able to learn so easily or maybe even at all by ourselves
This tour is the perfect choice if you've been doing a lot of travelling and driving like we had and still want to go sight-seeing but with less walking involved. It was great to be driven to all the sights and have someone explain the history behind it all. Vasiliki was incredibly knowledgeable and over-all a great tour guide, as was our awesome driver Nikos. It was a wonderful experience and would definitely recommend this tour! Looking forward to visiting again and doing the morning tour.
Due to farmer's break, It was a long time to get Meteora from Athens. Our guide, Rula, gave us time for photos and good advises. Our driver, Nikos, made a stop in order to get some meals. Both of them, very kind. Meteora, just wow.
Janis did a great job explaining everything! The picture spots and the monestary were perfect too! ☺️ We really enjoyed the trip!
Unbelievable tour!!! The sights were otherworldly and the guide was very knowledgeable and kind. We were able to visit the inside one of the monasteries and the Byzantine church. The driver made lots of roadside stops to allow us to take photos which I really appreciated.
Clement was a great guide through our first day visiting the monasteries. His excitement in sharing his knowledge made for an awesome day. Booked hotel room through the company and it was simple &lovely with excellent breakfast. Second day we did the hiking tour which was nice because didn’t want to spend any more time in a bus for a bit. You don’t get to visit as many monasteries but you do get to see them from a different vantage point. Thank you for awesome trip!
A great way to see such an awesome cultural and natural phenomenon. The guide and driver were knowledgeable and gave us great commentary.
The tour was perfect. The timing was very good. The guide was knowledgeable and organized the tour well. I would highly recommend.
Excellent opportunity to take beautiful photos of this magnificent site. We took a sunset tour and were thrilled with the visit.
We did the morning visit of the monasteries and the sunset tour. Even if the weather was not on our side that morning, Alexandra our local guide, make It worthit in the morning. At sunset the clouds had time to clear up a bit and the experience was even better, thanks.
2 tips for attendees: #1 dress code must be observed to enter the monastery, #2 monasteries and churches charge an additional entrance fee that is not disclosed ahead time. The tour we participated in allowed for entry into 1 monastery, however we personally witnessed larger tour groups pushing to the front of the line to enter the monastery ahead of our group that did not have a guide pushing ahead of everyone else. It was quite frustrating to see other guides advocating for their group when ours did not. We were not able to see the interior of the 1 monastery that was identified for our tour because of the excessive vistorship of a single monastery. The government, Orthodox church and tour operators appear to act without limits to the number of visitors which negatively impacts visitors. If we go again, we would go independently early in the day and avoid the tour group rush.
Note that you only go inside one monastery, a small one at that (St Nicholas). And we weren’t told about the bus WiFi so it was only when reviewing the reservation just now that I saw that. But the views were great, and the church pretty (no pics allowed inside though). If you don’t want to do too much walking you see a lot for a little effort.
Loved this tour ; interesting, varied ans relaxing ! A great way to get an overall look at the meteora on your first day in the area !
Well-guided and educational tour. Lots of history and facts about the origin of the monastery and the life of the monks.thank you
The tour began with the guide speaking far too quickly and being hard to understand. She didn’t accompany us in the monastery visit. But, as the tour went on she became more engaged with us and her talk became much more interesting and informative. The tour itself was a bit too long but was quite comprehensive except for the monastery.
We got picked up by the Airbnb where we stayed in a big tourist, comfortable bus. We visited the places as described and one more monastery where we had to hike a bit to get to. It was very enjoyable and amazing sunset. In conclusion, we enjoyed the tour. We also joined another tour the next day visiting 3 monasteries so in comparison, this tour leader we got for the sunset tour, we didn’t think he explained the history enough. He practically had “nothing” to say.
It is quite a long trip (nearly 4.5 hrs from pick up and drop off, with a fair amount of twisting roads in nice minicoach. But this guide and driver (Vassilika was the guide) were both excellent both in term's of knowledge and english. The Sunset Trip we did included a stop for about 40 minutes at Ag Stefanos Monastary which is inhabited by Nuns not Monks and has the easiest foot access. It was lovely, and as with Churches, interior photos or videos cannot be taken. The grounds and views are lovely, as were the interiors our trip also included the Byzantine Church of the Holy Virgin-very interesting history and secret garden residents! We also made a stop at The Hermit Caves, sadly roo steep for me and my husband to walk up to, so 3 of us stayed at the bottom. The group were up there about an hour. We made a number of stops along the way for photo stops, ending at ‘Sunset rock’ to clamber onto the rocks (be careful) but aadly the sunset was too shy and hidden behind heavy clouds today! But the view was still awe inspiring. The tour operator ‘Meteora Thrones’ also offer tours in other languages, morning tours and trekking trips. They all offer different monastery visits. Thank you!💙🇬🇷

Very happy we decided to book this tour. Everything was fantastic both the guide and the driver were knowledgeable and friendly. We would highly recommend the sunset tour.
The tour was excellent. Knowledgeable guide, excellent driver and well paced tour. We visited all 6 monasteries, and went inside St Stephen’s. We saw many relics of hermitic life, with a short walk to better view some of these sites. And the sunset was majestic!
Very nice tour ,we first visited a beautiful church ,then one of the 6 main monasteries and then the majestic sunset view from the rocks of the whole landscape including the monasteries.Special thanks to our guide Anastasia ( Stacy)
Very nice tour ,had one visit to a monastery and also church and magnificent sunset view from the rocks .Special thanks to Anastasia (Stacy ) our guide
Fantastic tour with Yanis and Dennis! Be aware which monasteries will be open the day of your visit, but I feel like you can’t go wrong. I’m glad we took the tour instead of trying to figure it out in our rental car.
There was some duplication from the morning tour but all in all , it was a good day. We covered substantial ground. Tip - If you plan to visit all monasteries, you can do a combination of this two tours and then on your own. In December, it should cost about $20 to visit these monateries.
The tour guide was quite informative and had really good story telling skills ehich made the tour interesting ( I dont recall his name but he is from Canada) ! Loved the sunset from the rocks. Visited during the winter, it was definitely worth it since there weren't a lot of people.
I loved how the guide built up the suspense as we ascended into the mountains. She had a personal connection to St Stephens monetary which made it particularly special.
We have booked a sunset tour around Meteora quite last minute. Communication was good and clear. Everything went on time. Our tour guide Maria was excellent! She made it super interesting and interactive. We were surprised how competent, confident and knowledgeable she was! You can tell how much she is enjoying her job which made such a positive impact on a tour. Thank you so much! A trip we will never forget!
A great way to spend the first afternoon and evening in Meteora. Nancy was amazing - her knowledge and stories were really mesmerising, as were the views. We loved this trip. Highly recommend
This tour was perfect, I booked this tour last minute with my mother and we are both so glad we did. Our tour guide clemet was a great guide with plenty of information on the monasteries and sites around. He and our tour driver really made this tour stand out and we went on to book the morning tour the following day. Thank you guys for making our visit so memorable. Looking forward to visiting again, I highly recommend this tour group.
We went on two Absolutely fantastic tours with this company on our three days in Kalambaka/Meteora. We did the sunset tour on our first day and then the morning tour. These two tours covered all monasteries. We went into four in total, one on the sunset tour and three on the morning tour. The staff were incredibly knowledgeable about the monasteries, history and the area and geography. Very professional and friendly. Coaches on both days were modern, comfortable and lovely air conditioned. There is not much climbing or walking on the sunset tour as you only visit inside one monastery, and if your tour is in the six days St Stephens is open, they visit the one, which is the easiest to visit with just s bridge going across at car park level. Would highly recommend this company for anyone wanting to visit and learn about the monasteries, caves, churches and area.
The trip was as descriped. However, we thought that the monastery visit includes a guided tour. That was not the case, so in that way we were a bit disapointed. Otherwise the trip was excellent, the guide was very good, we saw all what promised, the driver was good and the "guest team" was terrific! I recommend this trip!
The tour leader was knowledgeable about the place and the tour was as advertised. We were advised that they will collect us from the location we agreed and the time was in point. The tour was around 4 hours long with many stops for sightseeing and picture opportunities. Visited one monastery from the inside, which was enough. We had an amazing time! Thank you!
We took the Sunset tour and were satisfied with our experience. The guide and driver were very courteous. The guide presented information about the history of the monasteries plus past and current history of Meteora and the surrounding region. We had a certain timeline to go inside the one monastery we visited. A note that the guide does not accompany the group inside the monastery and other stops during the tour. Overall we would recommend this tour.
Very nice tour that takes you to the most beautiful spots in Meteora. We knew beforehand which monastry we would visit on this tour and visited two other monasteries on our own in the morning. Our guide, Yanis, gave us a lot of interesting information about the geology, history, architecture etc of the surroundings and the monasteries. The views on Sunset Rock were simply amazing. Would definitely recommend this tour!
It was fantastic by all means. Our guide Stacy was very kind and gave us a lot of information on Meteoras and Greece in general. For about half an hour it was raining but the organization was so flexible, so during that time we went to a church and later on when it stopped we could even catch the breathtaking view from the sunset rock. Highly recommend.
We are very happy and recommend Meteora thrones for a meteora guiding. The tour guide Nancy was exceptional , described everything in good details and she was very friendly. We took both the afternoon tour to see the sunset and the morning tour to visit 3 important monasteries. The staff working at the travel agency were also very helpful and friendly and one guy even politely assisted us after forgetting my bag in one of the vans. We are so grateful we chose you, Sofia and Michael
Informative tour guides, comfortable bus, small group, beautiful scenery and monastery. In the future I will drive myself however as the roads are well maintained and I have benefited already from a tour guide.
The guide was very informative and friendly. The driver and guide were accommodating especially when we had a rain storm in the middle of the tour. The guys adjusted the time to be informative.
Well organized trip. Our guide was very friendly and showed us a huge amunt of knowledge. It was a great trip not only to know the beauty of this region but also its history.
