Captivating Morning Meteora Monasteries Tour-up To 9 People

Great tour, very easy and convenient, excellent guide and comfortable bus.

We had an incredible experience on this tour! Yes, it is a long bus ride (4+ hours) but quite comfortable. Take a nap, read a book, catch up on work - there is great wi-fi and USB Type A power ports above each seat. And there are stops for food and the wash room. Once we reached Meteora, we met our guide Vangelis, who was absolutely wonderful. We broke into a smaller group, about 11 people, and boarded a luxury van. Vangelis took us to three amazing monasteries and told us the history of each, and answered all our questions. He also showed us the other monasteries from the exterior with an amazing view. It would be near to impossible to go to all of them in one day if you are traveling from Athens, FYI, because of the time, and it seems one monastery is closed almost each day. But the three we saw gave us an excellent overview. This is an incredible trip for anyone interested in art, religion, icons, the Greek Orthodox Church, or beautiful scenery and history. A UNESCO world heritage site not to be missed. Thank you from your new friends in New Orleans!

Nothing can beat the experience of being on a private tour with a local tour guide. Vangelis was the perfect person to pick us up at the local train station (we drove down from a Metsovo resort with our rental car), explain the history and magic of Meteora, and leave us with unforgettable memories. Before we took the tour, in his elegant MBZ he took us to both a coffee shop and a bakery to start our day with him. I had been to this sacred series of mountains in the past, but nothing prepared me for beimg there with my grown daughter, who treated me to this tour on my birthday. Because Vangelis could get us close to entrances to each monastery, we avoided the endless long walks up the roads leading to the sites. And at the end, he literally went the extra ile by taking us to a very special place where tour buses do not venture -- where hermit monk caves were carved into hillsides accessed by rickety ladders. When we returned home, he WhatsApped us a cache of historic photos of the manateries and monks, accessing their precious placed by ladder, basket, and cable cars. While this is not as inexpensive as a bus tour, it was by far the best touring experience we've ever had. Thank you, Vangelis!

Had to follow up and praise the service provided to us today by Thomas and Kosta our driver. We were delayed and only arrived late in the evening yesterday. Our Air B&B host contacted Thomas after hours and we were able to meet them at their office and book a morning tour. I cannot speak highly enough of how well we were looked after. The visit to the Monasteries was amazing. The transport provided was first class and Thomas’ local knowledge of the history and stories about this magical place complimented everything that we saw. Highly recommend that you book directly with this local operator you won’t be disappointed.

Our tour guide Penny and driver Thanassis were friendly and excellent at their jobs. They re-jigged the tour plans on the run due to large crowds at some monasteries and the fear of heights of one of us. We still visited 3 important monasteries and even the heights challenged person got to visit one - Saint Stefano. We saw all 6 monasteries and the villages of Kalabaka and Kastraki, as well as stunning views of the whole valley. The facts and background presented were interesting. They were on time everywhere, always waiting at the pick up point. We highly recommend this as excellent value for money.

Superb experience! The ease of the pickup for the tour is ideal. The itinerary is very well paced with time dedicated to the guide's explanations and time dedicated to individual visits of the monasteries. The explanations from our guide were very thorough, and he took the time to answer our questions. Furthermore, the company manages the schedules and crowded areas, which allows us to avoid waiting during peak times. What a fantastic experience. We had a private tour with Georgia as guide and Kostas as driver. Good explanation. Stopped at several spots for a photo. Further along 6 monasteries of which we visited 3 inside, very worthwhile.

The best idea we had was to hire the two tours that offer Meteora: the Monasteries in the morning and the Sunset tour. They made the day unforgettable, because of their professionalism, their closeness and because the guide, Evangelis, was very competent. Highly recommended and a good way to avoid problems and waste of time doing it on your own.

A beautiful tour everything you want to see show them and stop at beautiful photo spots with this warm weather they have the air conditioning wonderfully on in the van and they have ice cold bottles of water brought for us everything was told clearly and with passion in short perfectly definitely recommended

This was a fantastic 4 hour tour where we stopped at several viewpoints where we could take pictures and were by 3 monasteries. Our guide was very knowledgeable and taught us a lot. The car we drove had delicious air conditioning and was of the highest quality and picked us up precisely after each visit to the monasteries. They have our warmest recommendation.

We made two tours with the agency: one in the morning visiting the monasteries and another in the late afternoon for sunset. Both in private. I highly recommend both tours. We did with guide Evan and it was sensational! In addition to having a lot of knowledge, I drove in a very quiet way, leaving the ride very light! It was worth sleeping in Meteora for two nights and having known everything with Evan. We were delighted with Meteora! I recommend the visit and the agency! We will bring beautiful memories from here!
