Small-group Phillip Island Afternoon Day Trip From Melbourne

The van needs new shocks and or suspension. We’ve done many small group tours and this van was the most bumpy, jolting uncomfortable ride ever. The rest of the experience was fantastic. Our guide, the sanctuary and the penguin event all met or exceeded our expectations. We ate at Pinos trattoria in Cowes and it was a great choice. I know the tour doesn’t control this but we saw so many Wallabies along the way it was awesome.

A great trip but felt a little rushed - an extra 15 - 30 mins at the wildlife sanctuary and dinner stop would have been much appreciated. Guide was really excellent and worked very hard to keep the group informed and amused .

Great trip with the brilliant Josh who was our tour guide and he gave us so much information and was warm, friendly and professional throughout. Fantastic trip to both the Moonlit Sanctuary, the stop off points by the sea and the grand finale being the penguins. Definitely worth the money and highly recommend.

We had a wonderful day today! Josh was an excellent guide. Clearly cares very much about creating an enjoyable experience for everyone. Very personable and knowledgeable. Tour seemed relaxed and not rushed. We had ample time at all of our stops to fully explore, and could meet back up at the specified time. Thanks for a great time today!!

This was a spectacular experience. We signed up for the plus package and sat up close to watch the penguins waddle by. Penguin’s in the wild are a must see when in Australia. Fred, our guide, was very entertaining Tip - we had just enough time fo share a delicious Greek meal for dinner during the beach town stop

Wonderful day with an excellent guide. Well paced tour. Our guide Travis was so knowledgeable about the areas we visited and the wildlife we saw and made sure everyone had a safe and enjoyable trip and were able to see everything.

Travis our guide/driver was absolutely brilliant! He made out trip memorable, he was extremely knowledgeable and helpful.

Our 10 hours with James flew by. Pickup at our hotel was flawless as was the rest of the experience. James narrated with humor and answered questions any of our group of 11 had. The Moonlit Sanctuary served as a nice intro to the native wildlife, followed by the conveniently timed dinner break. James pointed out various restaurants to accommodate different tastes. After a photo stop at a beach, we capped off the day at the Penguin Parade. James drove us through the area where we glimpsed penguin burrows and wallabies among the grassy hills. The parade itself exceeded our expectations.

The tour guide, James, was very good: friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Safe driver, too. This was a lean, compact group of 11 tourists. This was much appreciated. The vehicle was fine and clean (sliding door lock mechanism a bit squeaky during the ride - should be checked). Moonlit Sanctuary visit was well organised. Enough time available for a dinner break. Clear instructions at the Penguin Observation Centre on how/where to find the bus in the post-event Chinese crowd chaos. Timely and safe return to the hotel. Summarising: a very relaxed yet unique experience. I can only recommend it.

The entire trip from pick up to arrival at the Moonlit Sanctuary, stop at the beaches, to the dinner location drop off that we had prepaid, and the drive that our guide James took us through the reserve for the penguins parade was informative and wonderful experience. The culmination of getting to see the little penguins parade to their landing from the beach was the definitely the highlight of the evening. We recommend this tour event through Oceania Tours and Safari!

Not only was the tour outstanding, but Trevor, the guide we had for the afternoon tour, was incredibly knowledgeable (ond enthusiastic). I recommend this tour highly!

Omg what an amazing experience. Was such a lovely day and a highlight of staying in Melbourne! James our tour guide was really welcoming and informative, telling us information about the animals of the sanctuary, the penguins and some island history. We stopped for dinner and saw some amazing views of the island! I was booked onto penguin plus and the view of the coming back was amazing, so good to be able to see them upclose! James our tour guide made the experience though, happy to be co-pilot any day! Thank you!

Very nice trip. The highlight was the penguins parade but enjoyed all the other animals as well. Travis was a great guide as well as educating us on the animals. We enjoyed it. Would recommend.

Small tour of 7 people. Our guide Josh was professional but friendly and very knowledgeable about history of Melbourne and other places we visted, the flora and fauna we saw and all the animals we met along the way both in the wild and at the sanctuary. He did his best to ensure that we experienced everything there was to see. The highlight was the parade but the coastal views wrote saw and other places we visited made for a great evening out.

Josh was accommodating, funny and informative. Great time had by all!

Thank you TRAVIS for an amazing day!!! He was incredibly knowledgeable about the local wildlife. We left Melbourne and stopped at a wildlife sanctuary where Travis introduced us to the koalas, wallabies and kangaroos by name. We went to a small seaside town for dinner. But the highlight of the day was the Penguin Parade. It is like nothing we’ve ever seen. It was absolutely incredible. So glad we took this excursion. Thanks, Travis!

Excellent tour with great guides James and Travis who were very informative. Saw lots of wildlife and scenic sites. Bus good for having a pop out step which made boarding easy but it was a fairly bouncy ride.

Wow what a day. Josh was a fantastic guide, knowledgeable and well informed. Get a 'plus' ticket for the penguins, you won't be disappointed by how close you are to the little fellas.

We had a great experience feeding the Kangaroos our visit length was ideal. The atmosphere on the bus was good as well as Josh our driver and to our guide,our crowd size was super with only nine on board.

We've had a wonderful day seeing the Penguin parade, and some other animals and sights. The entire experience was soo totally worth it. James and Trevis are wonderful guides - very knowledgeable and with good rapport with some kangaroos and other animals we saw in a nature park on the way, which allowed us to get pretty close to them.

The penguin parade was the highlight, and the guide showed us many more animal sightings, especially wallabies and Cape Baron geese.
