Train was good. There wasnβt really much of a tour other than the train. Margaret gave good photos on the phone

Margaret is such an awesome tour guide and knowledgeable about the area and does provide good details when asked. I definitely recommend this tour to anyone.
Guide was excellent...train ride was fun but we expected it to be through forest not mostly looking at residential / lifestyle properties which was disappointing.
We had a wonderful day and we found Margaret a wealth of knowledge. My grandson and I both enjoyed our day a lot! Thank you.
Unfortunately, i understand that steam trains are not always in working order , But atleast have them available to have a look and a photo⦠This is my 2nd attempt to have a steam train experience and both times have had the diesel engine .. not the same ..!
Nathan was an excellent tour guide! He made sure we got to experience the best of Australia and made the whole trip so enjoyable. Highly recommend him if you want to make the most of your Australian experience! π¦πΊ π¦π
Our pick up was a fuss free event with the amazing Alan who picked us up. The train ride was an absolutely wonderful with breathtaking views of the scenery. The locals get into it and wave as you go past them. It was such a memorable day that we glad we did. The walk in the rainforest was great as well. If you get Alan he made our trip fun and had so much knowledge and an awesome sense of humour
The guide was nice. The train was crowded and did not have enough seats for our group. That was very disappointing and frustrating. The train ride was pretty. We felt rushed at the end to eat and get back on the bus at the end. I liked the experience, but it was a bit stressful.
A great experience although very busy and not quite enough room to fit comfortably with our legs hanging out which was a bit sad.
Very enjoyable. Driver-guide very informative. Driving was great. Sightseeing was spectacular. Couldnβt have asked for anything better.
It was a cold day, but we still had a wonderful time. Our driver Jess was quite nice and helpful and professional.
John was excellent tour guide - super friendly and sarcastic, and kept it interesting. Wish we'd have had more time at the Moonlit Sanctuary Wildlife Conservation Park - we didn't have near enough time there and it should also allow scheduling with the Koala pictures. We lost way too much time at the beginning of the tour waiting for people that were late for the start of the tour. We were supposed to have an hour there per the agenda, but we only had 35 minutes.
It was fun riding the train . Alan was a fun tour guide and he is knowledgeable. I would recommend this activity.
This a fun activity for the whole family to enjoy. It is not a full day so it will allow you time to do other activities that night.
This was a nice relaxing trip. Perfect for about a half day if you having a long day, Trip on either side of it. Our tour guide was very informative and it was a nice nostalgic trip.
Our driver Pete was amazing! Such a good attitude and really informative. The journey itself to the train is a short 1 hour journey, the train itself is absolutely breathtaking managed to take some amazing pictures and Pete followed us on the journey on road and took videos of the train and our coach onboard the train and then was able to send them to us after the journey, such a cool addition!
Loved the tour! Our tour guide Nathan was very welcoming and thoughtful - it was a very worthwhile experience.
It was a great experience, the guide (Stuart) was very friendly and informative, best part was him taking photos and videos along the train ride.
We truly enjoyed our stops along the way to the train ride. Our driver, Anthony made sure we stopped at a park to see kangaroos up close. The experience was fun, and well organized. Anthony also made a stop to see the beautiful Mountsin Ash trees up close.
Adam was great, told us stories and showed wild animals on the way! It was a fun train ride, could see a lot of great views
This was an amazing experience. There is a little hike beforehand and then the train takes about an hour. Lots of fun pictures and our guide was incredible!
The Puffing Billy train is a unique and thrilling experience! We were picked up by Margaret, our guide, in front of Her Majestyβs Theatre in a 20-passenger bus. We rode about an hour to the east of Melbourne to our first stop which was in the rain forest. After a quick 20-minutes in the forest, we were taken to the train station at Belgrave. Our group was lucky in that we got our own carriage and thus, everyone had the opportunity to sit along the rail, which we highly recommend (FYI: small children and pregnant women are not allowed to sit on the sill). The train rolls along at about 15 mph. The thrilling part comes along when the train crosses the bridge and there is no longer ground directly beneath your feet! We made a short stop at Menzies Creek to allow some passengers off. Then, we continued onwards to Lakeside. The total train ride lasted about an hour. Our group had about an hour at the Lakeside train station which houses a gift shop and small cafΓ©. Afterwards, the drive back into town was about an hour and Margaret provided several convenient drop-off points.
Nathen was great and very supportive and enthusiastic and made the trip really enjoyable for us. We really enjoyed this experience and highly recommend it to everyone!!
Fantastic family activity. Timing was perfect for a half day activity, price was fair, tour guide was great.
Tour guide Matt was fantastic. Great personality and highly informative.
Scenic pleasant trip with informative and polite guide/driver. Guide named Michael was punctual and helpful. Would recommend to friends and family
Our tour guide was Nathan, he was very nice and knowledgeable went out of his way to take pictures of us upon request, had a nice stop at the rainforest.
Make sure you book it online as it always sold out. Puffing Billy train is very nice experience, I will definitely come back again.
Amazing guide in Nathan, very friendly and took us on some lovely walks prior to the journey. Definitely an experience I will never forget. Thank you π
The tour guide was amazing. We had some really good views. It was very educational. I would highly recommend the tour guy that we had. He was amazing.
This was amazing our tour guide was amazing and so accomodating we had a Bub (2years old) and 2 other children and they loved it will definitely book again with them next time we come!
A unique experience. Margaret the tour guide was super. Very pleasant, knowledgeable and helpful with an open straight approach to her business. Very good.
Definitely worth getting this tour. Having a driver is great, and there was enough time to enjoy a meal, go through the gift shop, and walk through the rainforest. We had Lachlan as our tour guide and he was so good. From the very beginning he was super friendly getting us all on the bus, and he had lots of cool stories and interesting facts to tell us. Also, he was super clear with instructions about where to go.
Great experience even on a cold Melbourne day! Lochie the tour guide was friendly, knowledgeable and the day ran really smoothly.
Anthony was good value and fun guide. Weather was not the best however guide made the experience fun!
Great experience! Tour guide was amazing, the scenery was incredible and overall had lots of fun with everybody
We were fortunate to have great weather, cool and clear. This made for nice photos. Van picked up and dropped off on time and driver/guide Margaret was cheerful and informative. Lunch in the cafΓ© was better than expected.
Amazing experience! Fun time! Staff was great atmosphere was amazing. People waved in excitement as we cruised through the town. Must see!
It is not the rain forest feeling I thought I would experience with lots of animals. Train is cool but basically in peopleβs backyards.
Thoroughly enjoyed Puffing Billy and the tour and our guide Margaret was knowledgeable and funny . Definitely would do that tour again π
This tour is exactly what i needed as a solo travel: tickets to puffing billy train ride as well as pick up and drop off services from the CBD. Guide was informative and extremely helpful too
It was an amazing experience. Highly recommended! Dangling my legs on the Puffing Billy was definitely one of my most memorable moments.
5out of 5 . I really enjoyed to ride the old train itβs fell like olden days and itβs worth it also make my days. I love it much.
It was nice to visit the beautiful region and the train was a unique experience. Nice for adults but I think a very fun activity for children.
Very well organised by Explore Australia. Pick up and the tour was on time. The driver was very friendly and knowledgeable.
It was absolutely worth it. Our tour guide, Nathan was an awesome bloke. Friendly and quite knowledgeable on the area. The mini bus was comfortable, neat and tidy. Loved the small hike st the beginning before riding the train. Train ride was great! Did this nearing winter and the air was crisp - love the views! Would definitely recommend for anyone planning to do something in Melbourne. Shouldn't miss this!
A fun day outing with family, especially with kids. It was a nice experience with many photo moments along the journey. The knowledgeable and vocal conductor is an added attraction.
Our guide Matt was very knowledgeable and accommodated to everyoneβs vibes- if you wanted to chat you could, but you could also relax in silence which was nice. He also communicated very clearly about the schedule and places we were going, and he still gave us an hour to explore after the Puffing Billy even though the boarding was delayed. Matt also got some really nice videos of the group on the train, so that was a very nice bonus and showed real professional care. The experience on the Puffing Billy was probably the highlight of our trip, the views were very pretty and the experience was unique. I would recommend having some wriggle time for any plans you might make after the guide, as in our experience, the Puffing Billy was almost an hour delayed due to a safety concern, although typically you wouldnβt have to wait that long. The staff at the Puffing Billy communicated very clearly and were very polite.
Had an amazing trip with a small group. Darren was amazing, very professional and engaging. Walked with us in the rainforest explaining and engaging. Saw cute koalas, Kengaroos etc in the healesville sanctuary. He took a video of us from a specific place beating the train. It was a very fun and great experience. One tip if you wear light colored clothes the chars from the steam train may fall on your clothes, ofcourse u can wash them away later. If you want valley view sit towards the platform side (preferred) and for mountain view sit on the other side.
This tour I would recommend if travelling with children, great experience I had with my grandson . I enjoyed it as well being a nanna.
