My husband and I had an overall great experience. We were picked up from our hotel promptly at 7:55 by our driver/guide Fred. The day to several amazing sites was made enjoyable by his anecdotes of past tourists and his own travel experiences. We didn’t feel rushed at the stops throughout. We would recommend this company as we had only 7 of us in the group!
Great trip along a beautiful road. Fred was the most knowledgeable and fun tour guide we’ve ever had. Kept us entertained the whole trip! Highly recommend!
piro was excellent , helpful and informative throughout tour couldnt ask for more would advise everyone to do this thanks fir tour and help
Kevin our lovely guide picked us up in the morning and we embarked on our day tour.He was funny and informative all day and took us to all the regular sights plus a few extra which included seeing kangaroos and koalas in the wild. The views were stunning and a great day was had by all
We had an amazing day taking in the sights of the Great Ocean Road From the moment we were picked up in Melbourne it was a great day made special by our guide Josh, who was very knowledgeable and obliging, a credit to the company, even dropped us off in Melbourne at night at a restaurant (Meatballs) recommended by Josh which was excellent
Dandy our driver was considerate, informative and kept us entertained throughout the day. A day we will definitely remember on our Australian adventure. Joe & Sian Rhodes.
Eliseo was amazing with us with his explanation. And we have a great experience doing that trip. Very cool and recommended
The Great Ocean Road trip organised by Oceania Tours and safaris was top class..First and last thing was our tour Guide Dundee.. Friend attitude and he will never say no to any of our needs..Local Aussie chap but has beautiful ❤️ and an expert in Koala Spotting...I highly recommend this trip with the tour guide Dundee...Hope to me you soon in any part of the world may be in India Debraj, Shreesh, Sudeshna Namaste from India
Our driver was Gary who was extremely helpful, polite, courteous and professional at all times. We had a great time and would highly recommend Gary and the tour itself. Excellent!!
Two evenings in a row we took tours with Oceania. Phillips Island and The Great Ocean Road. Both were amazing. Our tour guide for Phillips Island was Gary. He was very knowledgeable and entertaining. The tour was great. The next evening we took the tour to the Great Ocean Road with Fred. This was unforgettable! Fred went out of his way to ensure we had an amazing trip. His knowledgeable of all the stops was beyond belief, his recommendation of places to eat were spot on, but his stories kept us in stitches. Truly an outstanding, caring and down to earth person. Oh yeah, the tour was also Truly amazing. Thanks Gary and Fred for such unforgettable tours.
The overall tour was outstanding, Dandy was our guide and he is fantastic! Dandy provided the best service and definitely made it a remarkable time!!! Thank You, Tunzyaan & Mia Williams
Our guide, Alex, was great fun. He delivered a ton of information in a very casual manner and was very attentive to client needs. He had a few special sites so that we were able to see wild kangaroos up close and wild koalas in the treetops. Would highly recommend
Johanna you were simply amazing. Made our travel comfortable, pleasant and a memorable one. Would definitely recommend her !
We had a great day out with Fred, the driver and guide, with his huge range of stories, knowledge of wildlife (and where to find it) and of the sights to see. To see kangaroos, koalas and an array of bird life in the wild, plus the stunning Apostles and Loch Ard Gorge (especially impressive against the lowering sun of late afternoon) - that makes for a memorable day. For those (like me) with a queasy stomach, be warned that the Great Ocean Road is neither straight nor level. Anti-sickness tablets from the Apollo Bay pharmacy put me right. Fred clearly loves what he does and tries his utmost to find things to share, even back in Melbourne itself. Highly recommended.
Great views of the 12 Apostles and Alex our guide was exceptional- really engaging. Tour was let down by poor condition of the bus and demist/ heat not working
Very good and adventurous, lots to see and explore. Our very good and knowledgeable friend Fred was great and very friendly and made us feel very comfortable, he made us enjoyed all the way.
Kevin was very professional and insightful. Put us on to some very interesting spots where there wasn't alot if tourists. Highly recommend the small group tour if you are interested in wildlife and natural landscapes without the crowds.
The Great Ocean Road was one of the best tours we ever did. We saw plenty of Kangaroos and we actually saw a Koala bear walking down the main street in Apollo Bay. Dandy was our driver, he knowledgeable and very entertaining. I highly recommend this tour.
Gary, our guide, was knowledgeable and a pleasure during this long haul journey. IMO, this tour isn’t worth the huge amount of time vs what you get to see. Not that the stuff we saw wasn’t cool or anything was wrong with the service, but for us, we think our time would’ve been better spent exploring all the other cool place we didn’t get to in Melbourne for the time we had.
Fred was the best tour guide we ever met!!!! Book it and you‘ll see how amazing he is! Thanks a lot, great tour, unforgettable
Kevin was our guide, gave a great tour lots of good stops for views, photos and amazing hot chocolate. Very informative. Highly recommend Kevin as a tour guide.
Sarah Kempf took our group on a fabulous all-day tour of the Great Ocean Road region. She is a very knowledgeable, intelligent, and personable guide. In addition to all the usual Ocean Road sights (e.g., the Twelve Apostles), she took us on several inland nature walks where she helped us spot mountain ash trees in a temperate rain forest. On other nature walks we saw koalas, cockatoos, and kookaburra. This was the best tour we have ever taken in the Melbourne region. I highly recommend this tour with Sarah.
Wow, what a great tour. The long day went by fast. The views were amazing. Our tour guide was very informative & made the day fun & interesting. The great Ocean Road is certainly a must.
The views from the road are great, but the views are at the end with the view of the 12 Apostles, razorback, and especially the rainforest walk. Sam was knowledgeable, made great stops and suggestions.
Did this tour with my wife on February 4th. Sam was our guide and driver. He was very knowledgeable and helpful throughout the tour. Interesting stops and ample time to take photos. Very long tour, but well worth it for the interesting information and spestacular scenery.
It was a great experience. our guide (Sam) was friendly and always available for taking pictures. Recommended tour
The trip was amazing with Oceania Tours . Perfect time starting tour which was not too early around 8 am. Provided many pick-up spots to serve our convenience with not too many people in group about 10-11. Mr. Dario came to pick us and drove us along the beautiful landscape of the ocean. He pulled over a few spots during the way for us to sneakily see kangaroos in nature. The road itself is quite mazed so taking pills help if you are easy to get car sick. We got the chance to see Koalas and colourful birds in the wild next to the cafe. Dario took us to the local cheese factory not far from 12 Apostles to taste 12 cheese types for a dollar, that was my cup of tea! i brought cheese and ice cream back as well, then we headed back to Melbourne around 7 pm at the same spot as picking up. Highly recommended!
Tour guide Fred, All he did was talk about his book he is writing about his tour experience's. he went on all day about it and what was going to be in his book. I wanted to know about the country and it's sites, not him and his book. I am very disappointed.
Trip too long for the time we actually spend in the views. They need to remove the part of “see kangaroos”. The trip in general was good. The driver was nice to us, but he was in a rush while driving.
Fantastic experience. High recommended! Reiner was the perfect tour guide. My wife and I were very pleased.
An excellent tour with a great tour guide!! Our tour guide was engaging, enthusiastic and very knowledgeable. Highly recommended.
We had a great group & the tour guide, Fred couldn’t love his job more! He made it more fun because he was so excited to show us everything.
We were on 4 Oceania tours this month. ALL were excellent and the guides and sights were amazing. I have to give a shout out to FRANK ROCCA, who is retiring after how many years?? This speaks volumes as to the company valuing employees. Frank had our group on 3 of 4 tours. He is a wonderful guide and human and deserves congratulations!! WE LOVE YOU FRANK!! Now, on to the tours. We took a city tour, a Great Oceans Road tour, a trip to the penguins, AND a wine and country side tour. Depending on your interests, all were good. The Great Ocean Road and the animals are a must IMO. The smaller buses are great, and, during the fires, etc. the company kept in touch with us to assure us our tours were happening. Highly recommend.
Last summer, me and my family went on the Great Ocean Road Tour with one of the best people we came across in Australia: Fred!! He took us to wonderful places: we saw many species of birds and even fed them, we saw up close kangaroos and koalas, and at the end of the trip he took us to the park to see the famous possums and we were able to pet them, which was pretty great! He also gave us excellent explanations about the views, animals, etc. And during the road trip he told us many interesting and funny stories that made the trip even more special! It shows that he is truly passionate about his job and by making people happy!
Fred is a gem and really took extra care of my family. Fred was knowledgeable, friendly, considerate and entertaining throughout our 11-hour ocean Road tour. We saw koalas, kangaroos and parrots, plus allk the beautiful sights along the south coast, including the Apostles and surrounding, breathtaking rock formations and beaches. This was truly a memorable experience and we can’t thank Fred enough for the white glove treatment he gave us!!! A must do when in Melbourne!!!!!
We absolutely cannot thank Massimo enough for the AMAZING day my parents, son & I had in his private tour care for the day. Not only were the destinations simply beautiful but Massimo's knowledge sharing along the way highlighted the overall experience that much more!! Oceania is so very lucky to have Massimo on their team. Oceania is a TOP NOTCH tour outfit & will definitely use again as well as recommend to ALL friends & family. If you are reading this review - BOOK IT!!! You will not be disappointed!! Worth every penny! ** Thank you Massimo for a day we will NEVER forget! **
Fantastic day with Martin as our guide. He was entertaining and full of knowledge about the tour and Australia in general through the entire days tour. Thank you Martin Kilian & Elaine
Awesome tour through an incredible landscape. We went into every important spot. We had Leo as guider and he was so nice, knowing the answer of every question and always with additional info about the place we were by.
The tour was great!! Martin our guide did a wonderful job making sure we saw what we came on the tour for and was full of great information, and kept it fun! Would do another tour with this company for sure! Eric
To start with, Fred, our tour guide is simply the best! Our family of six ranging from 18+ to 80+ had such an amazing tour about two weeks ago and we're convinced it's just because we'd Fred, who's not only very knowledgeable about whatever information of the trip per se, but he's also kind enough to accommodate the needs of our aged lady - parking at selected spots to minimise her walking time, asking on and off if she'd need to take a rest, etc. In short, please ask for Fred if you're looking for an extraordinarily professional and exceedingly pleasant tour guide to show you the various hidden treasures of the Great Ocean Road! Fred is a credit to Oceania Tours & Safaris!
We did the Great Ocean Road with the best tourguide of Australia! 12hours drive just flew by! Fred was amazing, super professional and a great storyteller! This tour is super worth it, landscapes that just took our breath away and the best part was definetly going to the ecolodge to see the kangaroos, something that we can only do with this agency! Last but not least Fred took us to the garden to see and pet the possums which was super special! Fred thank you so much for such an amazing day, you definetly made our trip even better!
What an absolute blast of a tour! My Mom and I had ventured from Sydney to start our month of travels in Australia, and what a wonderful way to set the tone for our trip. If you can get in a request, you MUST ask for Shane. An absolute gem to tour with. Brilliant conversation, nothing stuffy about the tour, a true "Aussie" to show you around. Nothing censored from this lovely man, and not one minute of the trip felt "scripted" whatsoever. On the same note, we felt like we soaked in so much knowledge and took in the most breathtaking sites we would have never expected from this southern tip of Australia. I would do the same trip again in a heartbeat and suggest everyone else who comes to Australia do the same. Nothing negative to say whatsoever. Thank you Shane!! From your crazy Canuk crew ;)
I recently went to Australia and had two days in Melbourne, (and a bunch in Sydney and Cairns) on one day I did the Great Ocean Road and on the other I went to Phillip Island for the penguin parade. However they were done with different tour guides. There was nothing wrong with the Phillip Island tour, but I was much happier with the quality of the tour by Oceania Tours and Safaris for multiple reasons. (I will not mention the other tour guides name because I don't like to speak bad about other people unless it was something egregious) A couple of technical things were simply better. We were provided a van which was a lot more comfortable then most of the buses we had on other tours. Don't underestimate the importance of this when you are driving for a significant amount of time. It was also much smaller and much more personal then other tours, not even close. Next we had a cooler which had plenty of bottled water. Again don't underestimate, Between the 4 friends I went with, we had two waters each. That can cost an extra 20 bucks if you buy them individually. Besides for that our guide (Fred) seemed more fired up to go the tour then we were LOL. This was on his third day in a row on the Great Ocean Road. Usually the tour guides don't do 3 days in a row, but he covered for someone. I personally would have gone bonkers going on the same tour 3 days in a row as a tour guide, but he was great. He even bought tim-tams which although isn't a massive deal especially since I couldn't eat them because I eat kosher, it was a very nice gesture. I don't have facebook for religious reasons but he facebooks with past customers and I'm not surprised, he lives and breathes the job and is a very gregarious guy. We also got as much time as we wanted and I didn't feel rushed like most other tours. The only thing I would note, is he happily gives you extra time. But if the tour ends at 7 he will get you back probably a bit after 7 because he won't rush you. If you have dinner reservations or something, just mention it to him and hell get you back on time. He actually drove each party back to there personal hotel. It was much appreciated (and saved me an uber ride) The tour itself was amazing and I don't need to describe that to you because you will see that from all the other reviews. The actual apostles and other views probably are similar on all tours but there were a few huge things which we got that other tours I don't think provide. I saw many kangaroos in Australia in different settings, but Fred took us to a forest where only Oceania has access, I was literally within 5 feet of like 25 kangaroos and saw them hopping around. I saw kangaroos a bunch of other times in conservation's and stuff but this was by far the most intimate and the best. Additionally, we got to feed the cockatoos and rosellas (massive birds) which got me some pretty neat pictures. Basically, I thought the tour was very well planned out and was great. I highly recommend. If I could do it over I would have gone with Oceania to Phillip Island instead of the other tour guide, not that the other one was bad, but I felt Oceania was overall much better.
Amy picked us up from our hotel for our day drive on the Great Ocean Road. She was very informative on the history of the road and very accommodating on taking the time to point out great scenic photo opportunities. She took us to the areas where we had great overlook views of the road and the coastline. We were able to get some great photographs of the coastline including the apostles and. Loch Ard Gorge. She also stopped add an area for we were able to get great photos of of the local birds and a koala
If you owned a tour company in any country and you wanted someone to represent your company and your country you would want Fred to be your guy. Not only did he give a great tour, he was also the best tour guide that we had out of all the tours that we did between Melbourne and Sydney. Fred was full of enthusiasm and eager to share what Australia is. He gave great food recommendations and is a GREAT STORY TELLER!!!!! I loved his telling of the history behind the Loch Ord gorge. Thanks Fred.
My parents and I just spent the day on this tour of the Great Ocean Road and we were not left disappointed. Obviously the views and sights are breathtaking/beautiful (especially on a sunny day which we had) but the tour was really made by our guide, Frank. Frank is a superb tour guide and an asset to the company; he has a wide range of knowledge not just about GOR but also Melbourne and Australia in general. His commentary during the trip was always interesting with good humour on the side. He was also able to answer all of our questions. We stopped for lunch in Apollo Bay and Frank’s recommendation of Waves Cafe really hit the spot! If you go on this amazing tour, I recommend requesting for Frank because he really was fantastic. Thank you Frank!
We had a great small group tour to Great Ocean Road from Melbourne. While we were skeptical that spending 12 hours in a van would be worthwhile, this far exceeded our expectations, especially because of the enthusiasm and approach our tourguide Fred provided. The summary suggested we would be in the van most of the time, but this was far better than that, with remarkable stops not only at 12 Apostles and Apollo Bay but Melba Gulley (a rainforest hike), to see kangaroos at eco-lodge, and more. Fred's enthusiams meant the tour went long, which was fine by us but anyone who has a time constraint at the back end should alert him up front.
The views at the 12 apostles, port campbell national park and the whole coast road were fabulous. The views from the great ocean road are breathtaking and the ride can be a bit scary with hairpin turns. We had the opportunity to feed wild parrots, saw a large group of kangaroos in the wild and numerous koalas in the trees along the way. Our driver was very knowledgeable and pointed out many interesting plants and animals including the 5th most venomous snake in the world (this was baby but good to know to stay away). We had a nice lunch at the 12 rocks restaurant after visiting the 12 Apostles and before we went to Port Campbell - this tour does the road starting at the 12 apostles and this was an excellent idea since this is a lot of driving and I don't think we would have enjoyed it as much if it was at the end of the day. Unfortunately our driver arrived at our hotel 30 minutes late in the morning and seemed determined to make up the time. We drove almost 3 hours to arrive at the 12 Apostles and my wife and 2 girls were having a blast taking many photos when he turned to me and said "we have to keep them moving - we can't be spending an hour at each stop". I let him know that this was our tour and if we missed something that would be fine since it was our tour. At another point after lunch while we were driving along the ocean road I had to very firmly tell him to slow down since he was making myself and my family very uncomfortable. He was tailgating the car in front of us for about 2 kilometers and then was going to pass the driver in and area that was quite windy. We didn't get back to our hotel until about 8 PM after leaving a 8:30 in the morning so this is a long day with lots of driving.I would recommend doing this tour in 2 parts if you can manage that - drive to the 12 apostles and visit Port Campbell national park - stay the night and then drive the rest of the ocean road the next day. This should allow a lot more stops and a more leisurely pace to the tour. My girls were getting carsick on the way back - and the driver did find a place to stop so we could get some medicine for them.
This was a wonderful experience from start to finish and was one of our favourite tourist experiences anywhere ever. The scenery is incredible and we had nice weather to help too, but what really made this memorable was our tour guide / driver / entertainer and all round fantastic guy, Fred. I can not speak highly enough of this gentleman’s kindness, patience and thoughtfulness throughout our 12 hour trip. There was always a nice story to help pass the less scenic parts of the drive and we were never rushed at any of the sights. Fred also took us to several sights off the beaten path which were also fabulous. It was refreshing to share the day with someone who so obviously loved his job!! He literally always was willing to go the extra mile. Thank you Fred once again for making our Great Ocean Road trip so memorable. Paul
