Great experience. Guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. Spent a good amount of time playing tennis as well.
Ben put on a great show, friendly, welcoming and engaging. We have visited Melbourne and the area many times and still got a lot out of it. Highly recommend the tour and being shown around Melbourne by Ben. Good stuff. Jane, Rosie and Brent
We had an incredible walking tour with Ben yesterday and couldn’t recommend it more. Ben was incredibly knowledgeable, engaging, and passionate throughout the entire tour. His insight into every area of Melbourne Park was outstanding, and he shared so many interesting stories and behind-the-scenes facts that we never would have known otherwise it was brilliant. He made the experience enjoyable from start to finish, taking the time to answer questions and ensuring everyone felt involved. If you’re visiting Melbourne or have an interest in sport, this tour is an absolute must do with Ben. Thanks again, Ben, for such a fantastic and memorable experience! Couldn’t speak any more highly of it. It was legendary. Thanks Ben
We had a wonderful time on this tour, learning about the area and the city in general. Kat was an amazing tour guide. We highly recommend going in this tour!
Our tour guide Michael was excellent. He’s passion for sports really showed. The whole tour was very well organised and we got to see some of the most iconic Sports venues in Melbourne.
Our guide Peter tailored the tour to our interests, packing our time with interesting stories and information. He adapted his program effortlessly so that we could spend most of our time at the venue in which we were most interested. His commentary was positive but he didn’t avoid some of the controversies associated with sport and sports personalities and he answered questions very openly, revealing a true interest in the field and an encyclopedic knowledge.
Wow ! We had high expectations from having read great reviews prior to booking our walking tour ... and Ben did not disappoint. Fantastic tour, we learnt so much, we appreciated Ben's informative, personable, friendly chat. Highly recommend to anyone who loves sport.
Very friendly, personable and knowledgeable guide shares insights about facilties and the players who are playing in the Australian Open.
Fantastic morning. Ben and Terry know Melbourne sports and the history of Melbourne inside out, and were really entertaining hosts. You get to see the Melbourne tennis centre (even play on one of the courts) and hear the whole history and all the quirky details. If you think you know it already: you don’t. You also get in to the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Magnificent 100,000 seat stadium nicknamed The Coliseum, which it is actually reminiscent of. All in all this was three hours very well spent.
The tour was exceptionally good. The host, Ben was extremely knowledgeable & passionate about the subject. We really enjoyed the experience.
Ben was very knowledgeable and made the tour very worthwhile. I thoroughly enjoyed my time and would recommend to all. Wasn't to warm, so bring an extra layer!
We took this tour with Catherine as a guide. It was an excellent experience, Catherine was really knowledgeable and passionate at the sporting history of Melbourne and had some great stories to tell, especially about the tennis. Highly recommended!
Cathy was very knowledgeable about all the sports in the region and had great stories to tell about the different athletes she had met.
We had a great time as Catherine provided us with a very informative tour. She was very knowledgeable about Melbourne's rich sports history. I would definitely recommend this tour to true sports enthusiasts.
Really enjoyable tour with a very knowledgeable and experienced guide. Would highly recommend this activity. Great for sports enthusiasts.
👍 We had the tour yesterday 17/4/25 with Catherine as our tour guide. We had an enjoyable and informative tour with her. She’s lovely and very knowledgeable on sites visited.
A fantastic walking tour that show's off Melbourne Sporting Precinct within easy walking from the CBD. Ben was very informative and highlighted some of Australia's sporting personalities from Australian Open at the Tennis Centre to Austrlralian Rules and cricket at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Thoroughly recommend for all the family.
Gary was a friendly tour guide. We enjoyed seeing the sports sights. Unfortunately, we paid for this exclusion using Viator. Viator is a company that uses unclear language to make you think you earn "Rewards" for your booking. Bait and switch, I think it is called. If you complain and ask to.speak to a supervisor, that's a few hours you will not get back. Texting and emailing complaints are "never received", funny how that works. Buyer be wary!!
Our guide Greg was very knowledgeable and made the tour interesting. Only wish we could have seen inside some of the stadiums.
Ben did a great job. We went into all the venues. He brought props, discussed how the games are played, rules and shared interesting stories. He even showed us what else to see in Melbourne and how to get there. Well worth it! Thanks Ben!
Melbourne is a-buzz with world-class sporting events. The Australian Open Tennis is held in January, it's the first Tennis Oen of the year, it's held at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne Park. Close by is the Melbourne Cricket Ground, which is famous for the Boxing Day Test Cricket, which is an international standard day. The MCG is also a highpoint for the Australian Football League, where its Grand Final is held every September. Golf is legendary in Melbourne. What the Putt in Brunswick is a fun golf option with three different themed courses. Finding out about Melbourne's sports legends is something that informs sports fans, from interstate or overseas.
The sports walking tour was fantastic. Catherine was an excellent guide. She tailored the tour to my interests. She has worked at the Australian Open for 17 years so she has interesting stories and her knowledge of the event/ the venue made the tour extra special. I highly recommend this tour and Catherine.
The day before our scheduled tour, my husband got sick, and we had to cancel. It was outside the free cancellation time, but Ben went out of his way to arrange a refund for us! Because there was less that 24-hours left, the cancellation option was unavailable at our end, but Ben then submitted a request from his end and pleaded our case: We received a full refund. In a money hungry world, this was so refreshing! From the reviews I've read, his tours are fantastic, but it is great to know that he is also a great person and did not want our money if he was unable to deliver a service - even though it was not his fault. This guy clearly believes in karma and so do we! We will be back to do this tour!
Brian was a good teacher, he kept us we'll informed about Melbourne sporting legacy especially SO and MCG
Really good tour showing the sporting prowess of Melbourne Amazing AO venues and stunning MCG cricket ground. Brian was an amazing guide who answered all questions asked.
Our tour guide Ben was very knowledgeable, friendly and was great at taking pictures of us in front of these iconic arenas. We appreciated that he adjusted our meeting time to avoid some of the heat of the day. The Rod Laver arena was the highlight of our tour since this is the 3rd tennis slam arena we have been to. We were slightly disappointed that we weren't allowed access, but we expected it! I hope you are lucky enough to get Ben on your tour!
Great experience. Ben is very knowledgeable, friendly, and a great guide. He knows and loves all the sports. The tour is designed that you walk through Melbourne's iconic sports complexes at a leisurely place, with Ben explaining things along the way while you get to click some great pics. Overall, a great experience. 5/5
Ben was an amazing tour guide and so knowledgeable. We had a terrific time in the sports precinct, learning all about the different sports Melbourne had to offer! A must do tour when visiting Melbourne
Great walking tour of Melbourne's sporting venues! Ben was a friendly and informative guide with a wealth of sporting knowledge at his fingertips. Definitely recommend!
Ben is a great tour guide. Knowledgeable , enthusiastic and passionate about past and present history of sport. Loads of stories and just a fun day. Would highly recommend this tour.
The trip was stunning. Ben patiently explained to us how football is played. We went onto the tenniscourts. Then he handed us over to a guide from MCG who took us 'behind the scenes'. So informative.
Ben was a great tour guide with so much knowledge of Australian sports and Melbourne. A fun tour that was out of the ordinary!
This was a fun tour . Our guide Ben was very knowledgeable about Australian sports. Something different than your usual big city tour.
I bought this for my husbands birthday. As a Melburnian he thought he knew it all but he had an amazing time and learnt so much about Melbourne’s sporting history. And the sports banter was hilarious.
Our tour guide Ben was very knowledgeable, friendly, and was great at taking pictures of us in front of these iconic arenas. We appreciated that he adjusted our meeting time to avoid some of the heat of the day. The Rod Laver arena was the highlight of our tour since this is the 3rd tennis slam arena we have been to. Loved all of this tour. Ben's knowledge is amazing as is the Melbourne sports precinct we visited. Ben interspersed his commentary with fun anecdotes making it all the more interesting. Such a great way to experience the 'sporting capital'! Highly recommend this tour.
Ben was our guide in this tour. He is an amazing guy. Very knowledgeable about all the sports and guided us through all the sporting venues across the Melbourne sporting precinct.
Ben took us from the city, along the Yarra to the Sporting Complexes, along the way giving us some gems of history we were unaware of. We saw all the arenas - Margaret Court, Rod Laver, etc explaining their history and the well thought out gradual expansion of the complexes so that no matter what function or event is proposed - from 10,000 to 100,000 capacity, there is something fit for purpose! Our group were from various parts of Australia but even being a local, i was unaware how everything was so close together, and was unaware of the tennis hall of fame. Thoroughly enjoyed this tour
Ben was very enthusiastic and keen to share his pride in Aussie sports right from the start. The tour was awesome, showing you all the great arenas and the history he shared gave you lots of insight. His friendly and obliging attitude was second to none. Thanks Ben for a great tour.
Fantastic tour in and around some of worlds most iconic sporting locations. Ben was very knowledgeable and had some really fun experiences and stories to share. Gave us a great insight into the venues.
Visited Melbourne - The Sports Capital of Australia! with my Son. Since I have no knowledge about the city, I engaged with "Sporting Capital Tours" team. They gave us a fantastic tour around the city and all the sporting venues; explaining how it evolved and the History. It was a fantastic learning experience to my Son and to me. Expecting some overseas visitors soon and hoping to engage them to give us a tour. Very supportive and helpful Team.
