Our family group enjoyed the afternoon tour through Melbourne’s heritage buildings and laneways. Don’t come hungry, it’s only a small taster of some of the International fare in Melbourne. French, Swedish, Italian, Vietnamese, and Chinese… if you have come for something intrinsically Australian to taste you’ll be at a loss. It is a ‘Melbournian’ experience of international foods. We did have a local beer and wine from Adelaide. The tour guide was friendly, knowledgeable and made the tour enjoyable.

This is an excellent tour with a good mix of Melbourne history and delicious food. All the vendors were locally owned and I enjoyed what each had to offer. Dave was a very personable guide. I would highly recommend this tour.
I had a great time learning about Melbourne's history/culture, trying a variety of foods in the downtown area, and connecting with the guide and others on the trip. The prior day, I had a 3-hour walking tour and went to a few of the same spots (as well as many other areas) and enjoyed learning about the sites through a different lens. I leave Melbourne feeling much more attached to the city and look forward to coming back for the tour, but this time with family.
Andrew our guide was full of history trivia information and serious knowledge about good food We started with the fluffiest macaron followed by a magic Melbourne coffee or a chai tea. A world champion barista made the beverages very special Then we had a perfect pork banh mi. Then we had 3 kinds of dumplings mackerel calamari chicken cilantro amd tofu and zucchini with chilli black vinegar dipping sauce Then we had dark hot cocoa, chocolate covered cocoa nibs and cocoa husk tea. We left with a bottle of ready made dark chocolate martini Then some our choice of gelato or sorbetto with dozens of flavours including an Aussie specialty Lastly to a hole in the wall bar that used to be a parking lot and is furnished with recycled materials for multiple sources. Your choice of beer wine prosecco or mocktail. Andrew also shared his list of recommended restaurants of every ethnicity, coffee spots, breakfast locations and more Andrew is the owner of this tour company and loves his work and it shows in how he treats his tour participants We’ve been on many food tours and this is one of the best
We were so lucky to have Anson as our guide. His knowledge, enthusiasm and passion for the history of Melbourne and its laneways made the tour very special. Along with lots of delicious tastings at many quirky and interesting cafes, we couldn’t fault this tour.
A good way to spend a few hours in Melbourne, interesting facts and food, some we hadn't tried before. Light hearted but interesting.
Very interesting tour with a fantastic knowledgeable guide any yummy food and drinks
We thoroughly enjoyed the Melbourne Laneways Foodie Discovery Walking tour with Dave. A good mix of history and laneway discovery and food tasting. Highly recommend.
Spent 4 hours with our great guide Anson, and 7 others. Not only did we try great foods, but we learned a lot. Anson shared much knowledge about the history of Melbourne, his personal experiences, and stories about the local restaurants/shops we ate at. We visited arcades and laneways, nooks and crannies, and though we didn't cover that many kms, we experienced a lot! Why just take a walking tour, when you can take a walking tour and get a taste of Melbourne for just a few more $$. (Note: Don’t eat before the tour, there was enuf that we only needed a snack for dinner that evening!) Highly recommend for historical insight and interesting foods!
This was a great tour! It's an animated run through the history of Melbourne and how it comes to be what it is today. And punctuating the tour are food breaks: Vietnamese sandwich, Dim Shandong Dim Sum, the smoothest chocolate drink you've ever tasted, Gelato, and why Melbourne-style coffee won't appeal to Americans (it's too smooth and not hot enough!).... a wonderful excursion through some of Melbourne's most charming locations. Our guide, Arnos, has spent in a year in UK, so he could put the Australian view in a British context, enhancing the clarity of his talks. He is absolutely superb! And you finish in a bar: by then you know your tour colleagues and are ready to chat. Well structured, quite filling, and very good value. I'd recommend this to all who are new to Melbourne: start here!

Well worth doing, especially with our guide Andrew who was an encyclopedia of information about architecture and Melbourne history as well as food! The portions were both generous and delicious, ranging from (in our case) authentic bahn mi to dumplings, sweets and his take on the best coffee in the city. At the end of the tour we were given a list of the places we had sampled food/drinks as well as other places to eat and visit. Will definitely go back to these places and try some of the others when next in Melbourne as well as passing on to friends/family. He’s an excellent and engaging communicator which made it easy to take it all in. The food was incredible.
