One of the most memorable experiences I had in Australia. The tour was well organized starting from the 12 Apostoles, checking out the most important parts. Then going to the rainforest which felt otherworldly, and finally Apollo Bay with the Great Ocean Road with the coastline of mountains and sea near sunset time was an unforgettable experience. And a rainbow also showed up. Then, we were able to see kangaroos on an open field in the mountains that was an awesome finish for an authentic Australian experience. Things were even better thanks to the guide nicknamed "Kiwi" who was not only a great driver, but extremely knowledgeable of every place and details we went to. He was very welcoming and we were given plenty of snacks, drinks and delicious high quality sandwiches throughout the trip, so we didn't go hungry a single moment. Also we were provided raincoats that helped in the unpredictable Victorian weather. The small group of around ten or twelve people was great and everyone was respectful. This was one of the best tour agencies I had the pleasure to try out.

Itinerary
Get ready—our adventure begins soon! The bus is on its way, so grab your gear, feel the excitement, and let's hit the road!
We stop to stretch our legs and enjoy morning tea
Take a full day journey along the Great Ocean Road stopping at the iconic destinations along the way.
We take time to admire the amazing Limestone stack formations with minimal other tourists around, also if you are keen to take to the skies and add a helicopter ride over the Apostles on to your experience then this is the tour for you! Taking your time to walk along the boardwalks and capture perfect photos of the Twelve Apostles in the morning sun is just breathtaking.
Also in the National Park we head down to Loch Ard Gorge, site of one of Australia’s most well know shipwrecks, hear the dramatic tale of Tom and Eva. Take time to walk down on to the beach and get the sand in-between your toes, or walk out over the top of the Gorge and find the Island Archway and Razorback rock formations.
Wander through the magic of Great Otway National Park, where giant ferns brush your shoulders, waterfalls tumble through mossy gullies, and ancient trees tower above like nature’s own cathedral. Every step feels like a stroll through a rainforest fairytale—just don’t be surprised if a koala watches from the treetops.
Along the journey we will be making stops to look for Koalas hanging out in the wild, as they are exactly that, wild, we cannot guarantee where they will show up, but our knowledgeable guides know all the best spots to search for them.
A monument to mark the original starting point of the Great Ocean Road. After some photos at the iconic Memorial Arch and a lesson on the history of the soldiers who built this road and dedicated it to their fallen comrades, we will wind through more stunning views (of course stopping for pictures!)
As we roll back to your pick-up point, sit back, relax, and relive the magic of the day—full of epic sights, laughs, and unforgettable moments. What an adventure!

We really enjoyed our Great Ocean Road Day Tour to the 12 Apostles. Sam from Autopia tours is an outstanding driver and guide — extremely knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely caring. He explained the history, geology, and local highlights clearly, and made sure everyone was comfortable at every stop. A wonderful experience from start to finish
Daniel was a wonderful guide! He made sure all of us felt comfortable throughout the journey. My mum & I were extremely well taken care of throughout our Great Ocean Road trip! Highly recommend! 😊P.S. Daniel’s driving is very comparable to that of Max Verstappen 🏎️
It's worth doing. Awesome experience. The narrator was good. He was part of the journey through out. From us it was a great experience
Our guide for Great Ocean Road, AU was Anthony. He meet and exceeded our expectations! He wanted each of us to see every possible highlight in just a single day and he made it a point to satisfy every person on our tour, like finding Koalas and Kangaroos for many members that had not seen. So guess what, Anthony was able to locate a 20+ Kangaroo heard and 6-7 Koalas. Anthony’s Best for his knowledge and passion. We have travelled all over world and have found two exceptional tour guides and Anthony is one of them! James
This is a great whistle-stop tour to visit the 12 Apostles and towns around and on the Great Ocean Road. Our bus driver Craig has a wealth of information about this area as has lived there all his life. Thanks for the laughs and great day Craig!
We had wonderful time, Helda was amazing, highly recommended to spend the last days of 2025. Thank you and all the best.
A great way to see the Great Ocean Road along with the many places we stopped. Graham was very knowledgeable and informative.
I booked the tour for my cousins & I. We had such an amazing, wholesome experience! We’ve been wanting to do this trip for so long & we finally crossed it off our bucket list. We also chose to do the scenic helicopter ride once we reached the 12 apostles. Thank you to our great tour guide Bill! Definitely recommend this trip!
Craig and Barry bus was great. Laura did good work as well. It's a long day on the road but the apostles are very cool and lots of neat scenery and walking hiking. If you don't want to drive-this is a great way to go.
It was a wonderful experience spending time with a small group of travelers led by our guide, Joe.
Anthony our guide was great. Tour was excellent - weather was a bit flaky but luckily rain held off for the most part. I’ve seen plenty of pictures of the 12 Apostles but it’s awesome to see the real thing. Would recommend!
The Great Ocean Drive is so spectacular! It takes one breath away. The sea, sky, lush greenery (where one could spot a koala, kangaroo, Laughing kookaburras), and awe inspiring rock formations.
Lots of things see and learn! Our guide Kiwi was very knowledgeable. We also were lucky enough to see a Koala!
Our guide Wayne was great. Plenty of explanation and advice on walking routes helped to optimize our enjoyment of the trip. Totally worth going on this trip. Glad we booked it.
We cannot say enough great words about our guide, Matt (Matthew) who was originally from England, but has been in Australia for some time now. He was absolutely fabulous with our 8 yr old son. We was knowledgeable and an all around wonderful guide! He even provided us with morning tea and snacks to break up the drive. We especially enjoyed getting out and doing little walks at the lookouts and it was fun to explore the lower lands when possible. Unfortunately we couldn't go down to Ship Wreck beach (as it's closed off due to rocks falling. The only thing missing would have been to get to see the 12 Apostles from the beach, but were informed that time wasn't built into our trip. I would highly recommend taking one of the other smaller stops away to add that in, if the tour operator could make that happen?
Peter was very knowledgeable and had great sense of humor, made a big difference for the tour. Also we kept time on each location and was back at crown hotel at 8 pm sharp
The driver was very rude to kids and threatened to throw them out of the bus. Never have experienced this in my life. There was no water on the bus and no regular stops to get good or water. The picnic sandwich was so so . Don’t recommend This trip
Very long day. Great vistas at the 7 Apostles. Never were 12 but still Spectacular vistas . Ocean road ride very Winding with great views. Scallop pies at Appollo Bay a must to try.
Amazing tour..tour guide was very helpful , went over the itenery with details, took care of even the small details like ensuring phone charged when we reach city back. We covered many stops and yet it was very enjoyable experience
Matt & James were very hospitable & obliging which made the day very enjoyable. The scenery was fabulous & We’re so glad we made the choice to use their company ‘autopia’. The bus was very clean & comfortable.
Despite heavy rain throughout the trip our guide Stave gave us an enjoyable experience, going out of his way to show us kangaroos and koalas on trip of the usual trip.
KIWI, our driver/guide was ABSOLUTELY GREAT! Knowledgeable, considerate and thorough. Great tour done in reverse. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Booked through Viator, a company I trust, this was a thoroughly enjoyable tour to see the 12 Apostles, (7 actually) and a drive back on the Old Ocean road, a road which is 134 kms long, built by veterans of World war 1, by hand. But first the trip. The pick up says opposite the Immigration museum. It is actually on the road by the side of the museum. I nearly missed the bus because of this. So the driver cum guide who goes by the name of James aka Wheels and his asst Mannan. Both excellent knowledgable and full of stories which make the journey more interesting. The trip. The first stop is just a toilet and breakfast stop (tea coffee and muffins) next to a river, while heading to the 12 Apostles. A sight to see and remember. We had a cold cloudy day but even that could not daunt the spectacle of nature. This alone makes the trip fulfilling. But definitely needed at least 45 more minutes here to soak up the energy and to go down to the beach. The second stop after getting sandwiches for lunch was at a rain forest. Strictly avoidable. The Hold coast had a much better rain forest on Mount Tambourlin. The beauty of the drive now unfolded as James drove us through the long coastal road. Simply beautiful and covered today by mist. He stooped to show us Koala bears and also finally saw a mob of Kangaroos. Fascinating. Interesting small towns all over the drive. Take this tour and hope your guide is as interesting as Wheels. But please give people more time at the Apostles
I had a flight cancellation so this was the perfect way to spend an extra day in Melbourne. Our tour guide Craig was very personable and made the day cruise by seamlessly. His knowledge of the coastal history, native plants, animal species, and general knowledge of his country made for some interesting learning. The tour covered approximately 350 miles of driving but the beauty of the scenery made time fly. There were plenty of stops along the way to see the beauty of the coastline and the bus was very comfortable so you won’t feel like you’ve been cramped up for all those miles. Craigs driving was exceptional and I’d highly recommend this trip for a nice day out along the beautiful Great Ocean Road.
What a great tour! It was good to do it in reverse with the small group we had beating all the crowds, this definitely made a difference to enjoy the amazing sites. We took our kids aged 11 , 7 and they had an awesome time as well. It is kid friendly, ( but our kids are well behaved) it is a long day. Aiden was brilliant, very knowledgeable and super friendly and he made very enjoyable for us and is an asset to the team! Thank you for a great day!
Lived up totally to expectations , great day out and our guide Joe was informative and caring , lunch was excellent.
Excellent tour doing the great ocean tour in reverse direction to avoid crowds. Because we were on time with the schedule we did a slight detour to see kolas and kangaroos. Well paced tour highly recommend.
For a long day it doesn’t drag, reverse itinary worked great. Big shout out to Misty who was a class guide throughout the day!
The scenery was stunning and there were a perfect number of opportunities to get off the bus. Jacob was a great driver and gave us lots of pertinent information.
Our driver and guide Kiwi Chris was amazing. So knowledgeable about the area. He spotted koalas for us. We had a fantastic time and would highly recommend this tour. So much to see. Worth every penny!
Guide/driver Jacob was amazing! Took care of us throughout. Managed to visit many locations despite the rain. Recommended for anyone who wants a compressed version of the great ocean road experience. Doing it in reverse is good too.
So much beauty in one day trip. Well worth the time spent. Kiwi Chris was a great group leader and shared a lot of information throughout the day.
my family thoroughly enjoyed our Great Ocean Bus trip. The bus was very roomy and comfortable and our coach driver "Jacob" was fantastic, we had a great day. lunch picnic in forest was good fun
12 apostles and the Melba Gully. I enjoyed seeing the koalas and kangaroos. Complimentary breakfast and dinner should have been provided. Aidan is a great tour guide.
This was a fabulous tour! Long day however. The 12 Apostles, Ocean Road, Rainforest were all wonderful. However, Autotopia should NOT pack the tour bus with 28 guests. The max should be 26. We were stuck on the back bench with 5 normal adult's but we should have been 5 skinny adults. It seats 5 but really 4 is comfortable with the 9-11 hours of driving given the seat width is only 13 inches. Not the drivers fault. He was terrific.
Had been living in Melbourne for over a year and finally had the chance to visit the Great Ocean Road. Clearly lives up to its name. Amazing views, friendly and knowledgeable tour guide (Chris P "Kiwi"), highly recommend!
It was a great day trip, long 14 hour day but worth it. The views were great, saw some Kuala's and Roos. The driver was great fun and knowledgeable. Would definitely recommend it.
We had a great time with Nial (sorry for the spelling). He was a great tour guide who provided lots of information as we navigated the Great Ocean Road. He was a safe driver and gave us plenty of time to do all of the activities. Great day!
Our tour guide, Kiwi (aka Chris), was wonderful. His knowledge of the local area and Australia is vast. This tour was excellent. Highly recommend.
Unfortunately the Reverse trip was cancelled but we were transferred on to the Standsrd trip. Ilkay was our guide who was very knowledgeable about every stop we made. He was enthusiastic and great stories to tell. He was very mindful of the passenger's needs. I felt we had adequate time to spend at each stop. At no time did I feel rushed to get back onboard the bus. If you are visiting the Melbourne and want to spend a day out of the city, then I would recommend booking the 22 Apostles trip 😀
Excellent tour. Niall was a brilliant, funny and entertaining guide. Would definitely recommend this tour being done in reverse.
Seeing the 12 apostles was a real bucket list thing for me and this reverse tour was perfect. Niall was fantastic all day. Very informative, but also gave us time to just enjoy the views. I’m not usually a fan of music on group tours but what a playlist he provided! Bus was great, and a/c kept us all comfortable. On board WiFi and charging points an added bonus on such a long day. Great itinerary, amazing views and a fabulous day out. Highly recommend 😊
Niall the driver has been very nice, he’s very prepared, explained to us everything about the great ocean road and not only. He’s been very flexible and made us enjoy our day trip with lots of stops so we could see as much as we could without rushing. Totally recommended!
It was definitely a long day in the bus. The sights we saw were beautiful. I was a bit disappointed that our guide wasn’t able to go with us in the rainforest and the wildlife walk and give us information on what we were seeing. He did make a restroom stop when needed, kept the bus cool and played some enjoyable music along the way. Also, it would be nice to give chips and a water with the sandwich at lunch. Be sure to sit on driver side of the bus so you can actually view the coastline.
Great trip, we really enjoyed it. Our guide was excellent and very informative. We appreciate his hospitality and we learned so much about the history of Melbourne.
The tour was very cool and Jakob was an amazing driver. Swimming in Apollo Bay was perfect on this hot day
My husband and I took this tour from Melbourne, and had a great time. Our guide Brett was excellent. We strongly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Melbourne. It was a great decision to do the "Reverse" tour, starting from the Twelve Apostles and then driving back to Melbourne. The photo opportunities were excellent in the late morning, and the Twelve Apostles site was not very busy at that time.
12 apostles, Melba gulch, great ocean road are must see places outside of Melbourne! This is only Misty's second tour but she did her best.
Adam was brilliant. We enjoyed our trip. Leg room was insufficient and food was below expectation. The route and drive was with the right amount of breaks
