A great day exploring in the Grampians - a really fascinating and breathtaking place. Lauren our guide was great fun and very knowledgeable, and the group was really friendly. The trip helps you get a real understanding for the scale of the Grampians and it's important to remember this tour is just a taster - you're not going to see/walk everything on this day! Would recommend this tour to anyone who wants to dip their toe in and see what the Grampians have to offer.

Itinerary
We start the day early, leaving Melbourne sharply at 7:35am. We recommend guests eat breakfast prior to the tour, given we have a long drive ahead of us.
We kick things off in the laid-back town of Beaufort – perfect for a morning leg-stretch and a snack. Then it’s straight into the action as we hit Grampians National Park!
Once we have arrived in the picturesque National Park, we head to Halls Gap Visitor Centre, where you can explore and see first hand the creation stories that make up the lore of this diverse landscape. Venture around the cultural centre to spot wallabies, emus and maybe even echidnas in the bush. Come away with a deeper understanding of the significance of Gariwerd for the Indigenous people.
In one day we take you from Melbourne to experience the highlights of this breathtaking National Park. You will feel as though you have stepped back in time as you marvel at the Ancient Landscape with rugged mountain ranges and spectacular sandstone ridges. With an experienced guide leading you through this incredible scenery, you will come away from tour with a new understanding of the countryside and history of the region.
Probably the most famous waterfall in Victoria, we hike down to the base and back to marvel at the sheer amount of water and to feel the fresh spray in the air. The hike is about 250 steps to the base and back and if you prefer an easier flat walk out over the top of the falls this is absolutely fine! If ever Mackenzie Falls were closed to the public this stop would be substituted for a peaceful hike to Silverband Falls.
We then enjoy a hike along the shady path through the gumtrees and fascinating rock formations out to The Balconies, here you will see the famous ‘Jaws of Death’ with majestic views and scenery, featured in the Japanese Animation ‘Princess Mononoke’.
Reeds Lookout affords sweeping views down to Lake Wartook and out over the Victoria Valley and the Mount Difficult Range.
A picture stop at the marvellous Boroka lookout perfectly depicts the incredible scenery. Depending on the weather and visibility we may alternatively head to Lake Bellfield to walk out along the damn and feel dwarfed in-between the two mountain ranges.
Before heading ‘up the mountain’ we relax in the picturesque town of Halls Gap, right in the heart of the Grampians National Park for time to grab lunch (at your own expense).
Leaving the Grampians National Park, we make the journey back o Melbourne arriving in the evening around 8:00pm.

Reviews
I really enjoyed this Grampians tour as a solo traveller. It was an opportunity to escape Melbourne and see kangaroos, amazing vistas and new places. As it was winter (July) mist covered the lowlands but we drove up to Boroka and Reed lookouts and had magical views above the mist. We also went gorge walking at The Grand Canyon which was challenging but fun. A very big shout out to our guide and driver, Sam, who was superb. He was very welcoming to everyone on the tour and was very knowledgeable. He made the tour enjoyable and interesting for us all! He also played a great selection of music on the coach. Thank you Sam!!!
We had a wonderful guide Lauren. She made us laugh and made sure we all had an amazing time. We managed to see Kangaroos, emus and wallabies. The weather wasn't the best but still enjoyed the tour.
The whole trip was amazing. Got to see so many beautiful spots. Tour guide Craig was excellent. He made the bus ride enjoyable by sharing facts and history about Australia.Highly recommend this tour!
A long day trip, but worth it. Sam was a great guide and was well informed about things on the way and at Grampians. Scenery was spectacular!
We booked this tour based on the itinerary described on Viator, but unfortunately the experience did not match what was advertised. It was a rainy day, and while we understand that weather can affect certain activities, we would have preferred the tour to be cancelled rather than significantly altered without transparency. Several key highlights listed in the description did not happen: • The “morning tea with wildlife” turned out to be tea at a petrol station. • Mackenzie Falls was closed (apparently for the past two months), yet it is still included in the tour description. Viator were aware it would not happen. • We did not visit Boroka Lookout or The Balconies. We were told the views wouldn’t be good, but the rain was light and we could at least have done the walks we paid for or informed ahead. • Instead, we drove 50 minutes to do a 15-minute walk at Reed Lookout. Overall, the day felt poorly structured and not aligned with what was advertised. If key attractions are closed or removed from the itinerary, this should be clearly communicated in advance, and the tour description updated accordingly. Very disappointing experience. More transparency would be appreciated.
We went on this tour to see the beautiful Grampion National Park, and it did not disappoint. What we didn't realize was that the hike in Grand Canyon, though only moderate in difficulty, was too difficult for my 73 year old husband. The good part? Our guide was kind and attentive and made sure my husband made it in and out safely. We can't say enough good about Bill, our guide. The tour was great. We saw lots of birds and kangaroos. We will pay attention a little better in the future to make sure we're able to do the things included in the tour.
1 .Guide was very informative and helpful to explain sites and places of interest 2.Went to a unused/empty culture centre. (Waste of time could of been used for lunch.) 3.Lunch was not long enough as the town stopped for lunch was very busy to get a meal in 45 mins I got food poisoning due to uncooked food. 4. The waterfalls and scenic areas of the Grampians was fantastic.
My tour guide Lara was the best. She always briefs us to what we will be seeing and it was as expected. I like the way she is well informed about the cultural heritage of the aboriginal community. I had so much fun and thank you Lara.
Great journey, the Grampians is a beautiful place, you will see stuning landscapes et animals . Our guide James was very sympatic and make the hours of drive to Grampians very funny.
Guided by Graham who was very energetic and funny. He made the tour enjoyable with his stories and patience. Glad to be introduced to the Grampians by someone who is so knowledgeable and passionate.
Sean was the absolute best tour guide, he was informative, entertaining, and enthusiastic. The only reason I didn’t give this tour 5 stars was because you do not hike for most of the tour. If you enjoy a relaxing roadtrip from Melbourne to the Grampians National Park then this tour is perfect for you. But, if you were expecting more hikes/bushwalks through the national park like I was, you may be disappointed. Overall, I was happy that the bus is comfortable, the vibes were perfect, and the views were lovely.
Great trip overall. Anthony (if I got the name right) was super friendly and very knowledgable. The drive was smooth and comfy despite the road closures.
Excellent experience and Lauren, the driver and guide was fantastic and showed great empathy and many kind gestures to the members in the tour group. She is also knowledgeable and shared information of the various towns which we passed through and also the places which we visited including the National Park. Enjoyed the tour though I was alone.
The national park was great, but the overall time management of the trip was poor. The bus ride took like 3h one way, so a bathroom and tea stop was nice, but the cultural center 20 mins + lunch 45 mins felt like too much, as we haven't seen anything until 13h. Then, a passenger was lost, so that took another hour. Instead of dropping the rest of the group at an attraction, we ended up turning around and picking up the lost guest. We were told that it won't affect our time at the attractions - I can't comment on that as I don't know how much time we would have had otherwise. Anyhow, the time at the attractions was very tight. For the waterfall, we got 1h, the guide told us that we can EITHER take the stairs OR go to the lookout. I ended up being able to do both, but it was exhausting and very rushed. At the balconies, we were given 30 minutes, but just the walk up there was supposed to take 15 minutes one way, meaning no time to take pictures and grasp the view. Let alone the other 2 lookouts near the parking. Another 10-15 mins at both stops could have made a difference. The third stop was ok, with 20 mins for 2 lookouts, just a few steps from the parking. Otherwise, the guide was nice and helpful, but I wish we had more time to see and enjoy the view.
The whole trip was amazing. We got to see so many beautiful spots. The driver Anthony was excellent. So kind and with a good sense of humour who really knows how to keep his passengers entertained. Highly recommend this tour and driver.
This tour was everything they advertised and more. The sites were amazing and we learned and saw so much of the Laura and Fan of the area thanks to our wonderful tour guide Tomas. This is a must do excursion for anybody who enjoys the outdoors.
It was such a great trip! We got to visit many beautiful viewpoints, and my guide, Tomas, did an amazing job. He was very knowledgeable and kept sharing interesting information along the way. Overall, it was a really wonderful one-day trip.
great trip, with a great guide and such a beautiful day. I would recommend this trip and our great guide Anthony to any nature lover on vacation.
Our guide Joel was fantastic! He was super knowledgeable about the area and was very friendly! the bus we traveled on was super clean and even had wifi! We saw lots of kangaroos and the waterfall was stunning! He drove super safe and the bus had usb ports to charge our devices!
Justine is an excellent guide - friendly, extremely knowledgeable and happy to answer questions about all aspects of Australian life. She adapted the tour to pick us up at our accommodation and to suit our needs.it was a really interesting tour - we learned a lot.
Wonderful day out seeing kangaroos and lucky to see emu's too. Mackenzie Waterfall was well worth walking down the steps to see. I would highly recommend the tour and Joe was very engaging and informative.
The drive is long but scenic. I love the blooming canola fields and golden wattles. There is something magical about seeing animals in the wild. We saw plenty emus and kangaroos. The little joeys in their Mum's pouch were very cute. the lookouts offered stunning vistas. i was in awe of the waterfalls. The walk down the hill was definitely worth it. The bus was comfortable and clean. Our tour guide Anthony and driver Joel were very friendly and informative. I highly recommend this tour.
It was cold but wonderful. Craig was an excellent guide! Some climbing involved but it was all good!
Full day tour! We had a great tour guide, sharing knowledge and giving us plenty of stops along the way. We hiked and took photo’s at many beautiful destinations! There was time to wander around and enjoy nature.
Jacob, our guide, was so much fun. Autopia showed up on time, ran the day perfectly on time, and made us most welcome. Definite winner if you choose this company. Very happy we used them.
The guide and scenery were nice, as was the experience in viewing the wildlife. The weather was cold and rainy most of the day and prevented us from viewing the wonderful scenery at most locations.
I had this Grampians tour as a solo trip. It was a wonderful time that I could relax myself and enjoy amazing scenery of various lookouts. Our guide was Lauren and she was really welcoming and made all of us enjoy our own time feeling the beautiful nature. Highly recommend this trip if you love to see the nature with peace and kangaroos! If you're lucky enough, you can also find Emu and Kookaburra!
Such a great tour and really enjoyed it. First time visit at Grampians national Park. Our tour guide explained everything regarding view points.
Tour was great, Matt our driver and guide was so nice and friendly. He spent time talking to all guests on tour and make everyone feel welcome. It was a great tour to see the country, mountains, and lots of wildlife. Matt even showed us how to wrangle Emu’s( or at least “share” an apple). Really fun day.
Amazing tour and guide. Great locations (McKenzie Falls was great). Our guide Steve was helpful and a great guide. Would highly recommend
Their guides have awesome knowledge to help you to see koalas Some of the best locations and amazing scenic bkdss
Absolutely adorable, fantastic and stunning tour. We've been so so lucky with timing and guide. Misty is your tour guide and bus driver, but will become a friend and companion along the way. The enthusiasm, history, sights and knowledge she brings really leveled up the whole trip! One of my own highlights was visiting the Bunjil cave, and it really was an introspective and important thing to witness. Thank you so much for our lovely trip, wish we could stay in Australia and do many, many more!
Exceptional guide Chris made the trip enjoyable and relaxing. Great balance of activities and time in the bus. Spectacular views on Grampians and plenty of opportunities to take pictures.
The views are breathtaking and the guide is friendly and helpful. We also saw kangaroo and learned about their nature. Overall it’s a memorable trip!
Steve was the best. He did his job perfectly. You can tell he loves his job. It was like knowing him for 20 years. It was an honor to join this tour.
We got to see the eastern brown snake and it crossed our path 4 feet away so I was able to get a video.
Took a full day tour of the Grampians. Our guide Craig (with "little helper" Barry) was knowledgeable and friendly. Took in some amazing views and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!
Fabulous trip with the knowledgeable Jordan. Saw lots of wildlife and beautiful flora and fauna. Jordan is very enthusiastic, entertaining and has great local insight. Highly recommend.
Absolutely gorgeous and totally worth a visit. I would love to go back and spend more time hiking the area. Jacob was a great tour guide. The kangaroos were adorable. The MacKenzie Falls steps were no joke, but worth the workout. I'd highly recommend this tour.
A great trip! Kiwi was an affable and knowledgeable host. The falls are a sight to see and the views are stunning from the lookouts. Cafe at Halls Gap was a great place for lunch - all sorts of choices at good prices . Plenty of time to stop and see the local Roos and Emus if you want. Marvellous photo opportunities everywhere. Would highly recommend!!
It was a wonderful leisure trip to the mesmerising McKenzie falls . The views were spectacular. We got to see local flora and fauna. Our proactive vibrant guide and driver Mr. Kiwi was as Chrisp as he is. I would suggest you carry some energy drinks and small snacks with you as the schedule might run delayed lunch break in September due to unpredictable/potential changes to unfavorable weather conditions. Mr.Kiwi will make sure that you experience the most out of your trip. Enjoy
MacKenzie falls was beautiful. A bit of a workout but worth the sceneries. Be prepared for a long bus ride from Melbourne but plenty of rest stops
Driver was very friendly positive and professional James shared a lot of interesting information about the wildlife park and scenic views
The amazing views coupled with Jacobs funny and interesting commentary. He went out of his way to make everyone feel welcome and give the best possible experience. A great trip for an overview of the Grampians.
Incredible views and got to see a lot of wildlife (kangaroos, emus etc). Our driver/guide was Wes who was incredibly helpful and has a lot of knowledge of the Grampians and Australia in general.
Really enjoyed the crew we were with. Jacob was a great tour guide who made the experience fun, interesting and engaging.
Wes was our guide and driver. His stories of Australia are super insightful and knew the spots to go so that we maximise our time during the day tour.
The Grampians National Park is absolutely beautiful and well worth seeing. We made a few stops in small towns. Walked down to the waterfalls. Stopped at some beautiful lookout points. Wes was our tour guide. He was very informative about the area as well as personable. Just a wonderful day!
Really enjoyed Chris’ genuinity and warmth in creating a great experience for the group, despite some closures. Appreciate his knowledge and sharing many interesting facts / information along the way.
