My wife and I love to do food tours in cities we visit to learn about history of the city, its food and of course to enjoy the cuisine. Our guide was Colleen. We had a small group which was nice. It was a rainy day in Melbourne so although the tour had a lot of walking and tram rides, it was a good thing to do on a dreary afternoon. We started the tour down by the river, and Colleen gave us some history about the city, and as we walked along to our first tasting, we went through some beautiful arcades, which she explained the history behind them. Our first stop was at Koko Black chocolate, and we had two tastings. We then had three stops at various restaurants around the city. The first one was a Spanish restaurant which we had incredible bread and two very good tastings. The next stop was an Asian Fusion place where we had dumplings and some kind of chicken spring roll, which both were amazing. Our final stop was at an Argentinian restaurant where we had a carrot dish with goat cheese curds and chorizo empanada once again both were incredibly tasty. We ended the tour at a small ice cream shop where everyone got a choice of a variety of ice cream The tour was four hours which went by relatively quickly due to walking and tram but it was nice not to feel rushed during the tastings. If you are looking for something to do in Melbourne, I would recommend this tour.

This is not just a foodie tour, it’s a cultural tour of the CBD. Our guide Colleen was so welcoming, knowledgeable and fun. We loved our 4 hours with her. The restaurants were exceptional, the food delectable the whole day perfect. Thanks guys 😊
Martina was friendly and engaging with lots of local knowledge, as well as the history of Melbourne. She took us to some amazing places that we would never have found on our own and we tasted some delicious food. We ended being the only couple on the tour on that day, so that made it a very unique, personal experience for us, but we understand there may be up to 8 people normally. We would definitely recommend doing this tour, but do it at the start of your time In Melbourne, so you can go back to some of the places you visit again for a full meal.
Had the best experience on our food tour that not only had delicious unique dishes but we were showed around the city and given a lot of information on the history of Melbourne. Our host (Martina) was excellent and very knowledgeable.
We had just flown in after two long flights (Boston to LA and LA to Melbourne) and we may not have been as sharp as we would have liked. The food choices were just okay and our guide was excellent, giving us local flavor in our walk around the CBD.
Great day would highly recommend. Learnt so much about food and highlights of area . Lovely group and great host
We had such a great time on the Foodies Bucket List Walking Tour. Colleen was a fantastic guide—so engaging and genuinely welcoming, she made our whole group feel comfortable from the start. Each stop offered something special, with spectacular food across all the venues. It felt really well thought out and beautifully paced. Would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone looking for a fun and delicious experience.
The Foodies Bucket List tour was the PERFECT food tour! We were lucky enough to be guided by This Is Melbourne's owner and had a truly wonderful time. The length of the tour, variety of stops, and snippets about the history of Melbourne were all fantastic! We really felt like we got a great peek into the culture of the city, saw amazing sights, and ate wonderful food. We were given a bunch of ideas for other restaurants to visit and returned to a few tour stops for more. I only wish we'd had more time in the city to eat a dozen more meals! Learning about a city through its food is the best way to travel, especially when you can land on the local favorites and hidden gems that this tour specialises in. The only (slight) bummer was that we had a little trouble receiving our post-tour info due to some technical glitches with messages going through Tripadvisor. If I could do it again, I'd just book directly through the tour operator and would recommend others do so as well.
Great food, sites and restaurants. If you're just visiting, or have lived here all your life, this tour is a wonderful way to experience what Melbourne has to offer.
We thoroughly enjoyed this food walking tour. Martina was a super guide. She was warm, genuine, enthusiastic, and generously shared he knowledge of Melbourne and the eating scene. She gave us lots of recommendations for our upcoming days in Melbourne. We enjoyed every bite at every venue. She had curated a nice variety of venues.
Andrew provided excellent instructions for finding the meeting point, which made the start of the tour very easy. The tour itself involved quite a bit of walking, along with a tram ride. Aside from the chocolate at the beginning and the gelato at the end, most of the tastings were seated experiences in various restaurants. We appreciated the chance to sample different cuisines—dishes we likely wouldn’t have tried on our own—even if the flavors didn’t quite match our personal preferences. Overall, we enjoyed the tour, especially the historical insights and the opportunity to taste a variety of foods.
The guide was really informative about not only the food but Melbourne itself. There was a great selection of eateries and samples to try.
Great introduction to the food and culture of Melbourne Ask for Martina if she is available. Perfect host.
We had a wonderful tour with Colleen. It turned out that my husband and I were the only people on the tour, so Colleen was able to give us a lot of information about Melbourne's history, the architecture, and unique sites, along with the wonderful tastings we would have never found otherwise. A great experience that we highly recommend.
A wonderful way to get to know a city. We had heard that has a good food culture. Melbourne delivered totally. We were a group of 3 and our guide Coleen hade time to answer all of our questions. The food at our stops was excellent and Coleen pointed out many restaurants along the way that my wife and i were interested in visiting during our remaining time in Melbourne. Our guide Coleen had a good knowledge of the city and pointed out many places of interest. In our opinion it is good to start any visit to a city with a personal guided tour. You get insights into the city that you don't get in a brochure or bus tour. The price of the tour was not the cheapest on offer, however 4 hours was a good amount of time to spend looking around and we felt we really got value for our money. We would warmly recommend this walking tour to anybody visiting Melbourne.
Excellent experience to discover the lanes of Melbourne and some unique tasting opportunities. Our guide was very knowledgeable.
What a great day to walk around Melbourne and learn about the history and some fun facts. The tour was wonderful and our guide delightful. The food choices we had were delicious and plentiful! I would absolutely sign up for this again.
Our tour today with Sandra was amazing! She was a great tour guide. She gave us history and cuisine. We did a total of 8 tastings. The Argentina restaurant was our favorite. Tasty empanadas and chorizo. The Asian fusion was unique. The gelato was very good. The street art was the best ❤️ thank you very much
Great tour. Gtrest guide . Sandra was knowledgeable and nice to converse with. Good choice we’re good. Thank you very much for an enjoyable tour .
A well-curated tour of Melbourne's international cuisine, with a fun stroll through the city's charming and artistic laneways. Highly recommended.
Themis tour was fantastic! Marti was lovely. There was a great mix of history and foodie facts! The food was delicious and we hit some major landmark spots along the way. Additionally, my husband and I had a car breakdown just before our tour and Marti was so flexible and figured out how to get us our tour and food tastings!
Very disappointed with this tour. Very expensive for average places I would not return to. Guide had only a basic knowledge of areas we visited. She also ate our food!
Amazing experience to get to know Melbourne ! Russell is professional, passionate and helpful in every way.
Food tour includes a little bit about Melbourne and is a great introduction to city and delicious food options. We never would have known about the various gems we were introduced too.
Amazing amazing amazing. That’s the only way to describe our food tour with Martina. This was our very first time doing a food tour, and Martina set the bar impossibly high. She gave us the perfect introduction to Melbourne’s vibrant food scene — filled with fantastic recommendations that we can’t wait to try during the rest of our stay. The entire experience was well-paced and thoughtfully curated. Each bite came with a story, and each story came alive as we walked through time with Martina. Her knowledge, warmth, and charisma made the city feel like an old friend. She’s an absolute gem. And if you haven’t met Martina yet, you probably don’t know the true meaning of Bear Brass.
Fab food with knowledgeable guide. Whilst I have been in Melbourne a few days Sandra, our guide pointed out lots of hidden gems in the arcades, different parts of the city and the street art. And especially taking us to 5 superb eateries - all different from chocolate to Peruvian food. Definitely recommend.
If you enjoy great food and drink, this tour is an absolute must while in Melbourne! Our guide was fantastic—treating us to an array of delicious bites, refreshing drinks, and a fascinating crash course in Melbourne’s history. The perfect way to explore the city through its incredible culinary scene. Highly recommended
A wonderful experience being a tourist in your own city. Great day spent wandering the streets, laneways & arcades. Beautiful food street art and information about Melbourne’s history & migration patterns and its impact on the diversity and quality of cuisines in Melbourne. Notably Koko Black, Movida, Lucy Lui, Pastuso and a delightful finish with fresh gelato and sorbets at the Grocer! Beautiful food pairings with wines and a cheeky cocktail or two! (Own cost) Highly recommend
I’ve never done a food tour before, and I’ve never travelled solo before, joining this group tour was phenomenal. I learnt so much about Melbourne, and Australia, and food of course! My personal favourite were the beef skewers at the Peruvian restaurant. I also enjoyed trying food I’d never tried before - such as the flat croutons with anchovies and a tomato dressing! Martina was so knowledgeable and passionate about her home, which really shone through. Highly, highly recommend!
We had a great time on our foodie tour with Martina. She’s very knowledgeable and personable. We never would have found these locations and experiences on our own. Well worth the time and price for this great walking tour!
Was a really nice experience. Have never been to Melbourne before so it was nice to tour around the city eating amazing and different food I wouldn’t normally eat. Was a small group so felt more intimate than getting lost in a big group. Overall, very good tour and great food 🙂
We had such a great time - Martina presented some very interesting history of the development of Melbourne as we were gently ushered through laneways and over bridges and into some glorious spots for food. So much fun!!
A fabulous day with a great variety of venues / food experiences that otherwise would not be possible. We had a great guide - Colleen - who had a great vibe. Highly recommended.
This was a great little tour of downtown Melbourne and the food was amazing! Ideal if you want to get a look around downtown and sample some excellent local restaurants.
We spent 5 weeks in Australia. Took 5 food tours. This was absolutely our favorite. Brilliant choice of eatery's. Every one of them special and tasty, from casual to higher-end dining, with a wide array of cultural tastes, perfect size portions. Our guided walk about of downtown area was full unique alleyways and buildings and our hostess was a great guide sharing interesting facts as we moved from place to place. Just the right amount pacing. Do it early in your time in Melbourne so you have time to return to some of these amazing restaurants for a leisurely meal and to try some of the wonderful spots that were recommended. Excellent. Whether you are a local or just visiting Melbourne, this tour is well worth doing.
Sandra was an excellent guide who was passionate about Melbourne history and the food. We traveled the city at a nice pace and tried so many great local delicacies! Lucy Liu was my favorite place! Everyone should take this tour!
What a wonderful tour! The food was amazing and Colleen was a fantastic guide! Colleen is so knowledgeable about Melbourne and it was an added benefit to truly get to know Melbourne’s history and learn more about the beautiful buildings we walked past! I would highly recommend getting a true taste of Melbourne with this tour!
What a fantastic tour! Colleen was such an amazing guide! The food was delicious and fun! I am a new Melbourne resident and it was wonderful to get to know the city and it’s history! Colleen was very friendly and very knowledgeable about the history of Melbourne and the beautiful buildings. She was also able to suggest points of interest and of course eateries to visit with family! I had the best time and would highly recommend it!
Delicious food with a friendly and informative guide. Thank you Sandra for a lovely tour and for letting us know about some other hidden gems in Melbourne.
This is such a great tour!!! Our guide Russell was outgoing, pleasant and hilarious. Great opportunity to try a bunch of great food while learning the history of the city. Easy walking and drinks available for purchase at each stop. Made it a great day! Recommend doing early on your stay in Melbourne as it is a great primer on the city and the food scene!
Russell was an excellent tour guide, informative and friendly and funny! Good food and good exercise!
Great afternoon wandering the laneways of beautiful Melbourne, with some fabulous food and drinks along the way. I was surprised by the amount of different food tastings. I think there was about 12 different tastings in the 5 establishments we stopped at. Met some nice people and had a great day in the city.
Coleen was so wonderful and knowledgeable about Melbourne. The food was a true delight Loved this tour
Martina was the perfect guide to the lane ways and the evolving vibe of Melbourne. As a 6-8 generation local, her sense of history and how the arriving immigrants have fused with their new home to make a vibrant visual and food scene. Each selected taste and restaurant was a gem, that offered delicious and inventive options to both vegetarians and omnivores. My husband is a vegetarian and he really enjoyed the alternative tastes presented to him. This was our first full day in Melbourne, her tour helped me to fall in love with her home! We have taken many food tours and feel they are one of the best introductions to a new place. We had four locals on the tour as well, most of them had never been on a food tour. I know that they will take more of them in the future and they got to see their city in a delectable new way.
Sandra led us on a fantastic tour of Melbourne with amazing food tastings! We had a great time- highly recommend this tour!
Some tasty samples of various cuisine. Starts with sampling chocolates - may not be the most conventional beginning. Knowledgeable and personable guide (thanks Colleen!)
This was an amazing experience. We learned so much about Melbourne with delicious food along the way. Martina was a fantastic tour guide.
The tour was amazing. Russell was an incredible guide. We learned so about Melbournes history on top of a real culinary adventure!
Sandra was a great guide in sharing an understanding of the city history, food culture and delicious spots to visit
We had a wonderful few hours learning about the history of Melbourne, and eating delicious samples of the food here. Sandra did a wonderful job of showing us around. We would recommend this tour to everyone interested in the food scene, and history, of Melbourne.
