Just did this tour yesterday and loved it! Fred was an amazing storyteller and guide. A great guide makes all the difference, and Fred is one of the best. This tour is a great combination of driving around and walking to see the most interesting sights in Melbourne. Would recommend this tote to anyone.

Tour is a mix of mini bus and walking with option to add city river cruise at end which we did. A really interesting tour but made all the better by Fred and Judith our guide and driver. Fred keeps things moving but also has a vast range of anecdotes which added to the trip. Thoroughly enjoyable and informative
First, Richard, our driver and Fred, our walking tour guide were very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. However the tour needs to be structured better. First the tour needs more time if it is to start in the morning and run into Melbourne traffic. The time to Brighton and around the city hit traffic all the time. Second for the walking tour invest in headsets for everyone. If you weren't the first four people next to guide you couldn't hear due to street noise and the guide speaking while walking therefore away from the group. Finally we had to rush through the end of the tour (and miss several sites)because some people had also been scheduled for a river cruise. Better scheduling of people and tours needs to be done to avoid that.
Our tour guide Fred was very knowledgeable of the city and a great guide with some interesting stories to tell. In a short 3 hours we visited all the major areas of the city.
A bit disappointing, 1/2 the 3 hour tour was spent driving out to look at some beach boxes ( underwhelming) and an unnessary coffee break as we had just had breakfast. When we returned to the city we had an interesting walk around for 45 minutes where our guide proved knowledgable but really, this was a one hour trip padded out into 3.
Great tour experience, a perfect way to discover the city. Both Gary and Fred were welcoming, nice and full of energy. We really enjoyed it
We had an excellent half day tour with our driver/guide Gary, who showed us around Melbourne city, including Brighton, and the beach bathing boxes. We the went on to the river tour, which gave us a different guided perspective of Melbourne. We saw the cricket grounds, football - and tennis stadium as well as the formulary one race track. Then visited the Alexandra garden
Do NOT take this tour. It's TERRIBLE. This was the worst city tour I've taken in any of the cities I've visited. The van smelled like mothballs and the driver was less interested in telling us about Melbourne and more interested in letting us know about his disdain for: road construction repair crews, traffic police, tour groups, lack of parking spots, other drivers and wealthy homeowners. There was nothing interesting to see on this tour. I feel like I wasted my last morning in Melbourne. The other couple on our tour agreed, as did my son. VERY DISAPPOINTING.
My wife and I had a wonderful tour yesterday with Fred, our driver and guide. He told us many interesting and hilarious stories. He went out of his way in showing off all of the beautiful locations in Melbourne, the parks, museums, churches, buildings, lakes and even the beach houses in Brighton. Outstanding tour. The BEST ever.
Review Melbourne, you sneaky, coffee-loving, cultural gem! We just spent a day with Fred exploring your winding laneways, and I'm still reeling from the experience. Our tour guide, Fred was a true-blue Melburnian with a passion for sharing the city's quirks and charms. From the street art that seems to pop up overnight to the hidden cafes serving up some of the world's best coffees, Fred knew all the secrets. We spent some time wandering through the Royal Botanic Gardens, marvelling at the stunning architecture, and, of course, no trip to Melbourne would be complete without a visit to the Queen Victoria Market. It wasn't all about our shared love of Melbourne but also Fred’s interesting stories and his infectious enthusiasm for this city. We laughed so hard at his jokes that even a grump would have had a least a smile on his/her face. The beach boxes along Brighton‘s Beach were of great interest All in all, I'd give this tour a solid 10/10. Melbourne, you have stolen our hearts, and we will be back for more. And to Fred, thanks for showing us the real Melbourne – we couldn't have asked for a better guide! So, if you're thinking of visiting Melbourne, do yourself a favor and book this tour. Trust me, you won't regret it! The tour company’s name is OCEANIA and ask for Fred !!! 🙏🏻🌹🙏🏻
The driver who is also a guide was not polite to the customers in the bus. No one will use Viator if you have drivers like the one for this trip
Lewi is very knowledgeable regarding his subject . Very friendly, warm , easily understood, and speaks various languages
Although I have visited Melbourne many times over the years, it was refreshing to see places close up. I particularly chose this tour because of the Brighton beach boxes, that I had never visited before. The tour guide was great too. She pointed out all sorts of things that I did not know previously. Would highly recommend this tour.
Absolutely fabulous, our guide was someone who enjoys art!! She had a wealth of information on Van Gogh and his amazing art.
Fred was our driver/guide for this half day tour of Melbourne . He was witty, entertaining and a mine of local stories and knowledge. He showed us parts of the city you wouldn't normally know about including a lap of the F1 track. Nothing was too much trouble and his recommendation to visit Victoria Market on a Wednesday evening proved to be a winner. Fred made this tour a great way to start a visit to Melbourne.
Extremely pleasant and courteous guide. Made the tour a really lovely experience. A good overview of Melbourne. Totally enjoyed it.
Great tour and covers Melbourne city's popular and iconic places. Our driver and guide, Kevin was pretty good and gave us interesting information about the places we visited.
We found this to be a great way to see a lot of Melbourne in a very short amount of time. With the smaller group, you are able to navigate more of the city, and having a guide allows, you to get more information along the way. Our driver was Kevin, and he was very informative and did a nice job of driving us around to all of these sites. We certainly wouldn’t have been able to do all of that on our own.
We had 2 great tour with this reliable company in Melbourne. One afternoon tour to Philip Island with Alex and one day tour to Great Ocean Road with Gary. Both excellent tours, always on schedule, with great guides and everything well organized . A company touring to recommend.
Had a great time on this tour, our guide Kevin was very informative, a lovely man with a great sense of humor! I would recommend this tour to anyone visiting Melbourne, it’s a great way to get to the know the city and its history:)
Excellent from start to finish. Great way to get a feel for Melbourne. Our tour guide Kevin was very engaging and informative and gave us plenty of opportunities to ask questions and stop off at significant locations along the way
We had taken half day tour of Melbourne city, Fred the tour guide was amazing with his funny incidents and anectodes, wishing him all the best for his book!!
Gary was a brilliant tour guide - and it was a great wee introductory tour of the city of Melbourne, with friendly care and attention.
Fred is an amazing tour guide. Lovely explanation of all the beautiful places. Very nice tour overall. Driving around the city and giving enough time to explore each area .
Loved looking around Melbourne the tour gave you a great insight to how beautiful Melbourne is. Gary was very informative.
A very nice small tour thru Melbourne, Kevin did a very good job We covered all the interessting spots, I can highly recomend it to everybody
FRED is a super-star! His enthusiasm and passion for his city is on another level. He gave such a great insight into Melbourne on top of suggesting other things to do and see whilst visiting. By the way Fred, make sure our meeting makes it into your book!
The Melbourne Sightseeing Tour was both informative and enjoyable. As we were the only couple on the tour, Sam invited us to choose the venues that we wanted to see. His commentary throughout helped us to gain our bearings around Melbourne so that we could revisit venues later. At the last stop, Sam suggested that we could do a river cruise before visiting the Skydeck, both experiences giving us the opportunity of recognising areas that we had visited on the tour. We felt that we knew Melbourne so much better after the tour.
Fred, our tour driver, was informative and full of local facts and tales. Our small group was cordial and we enjoyed our tour, especially when we could get out and stretch our legs a bit. A half day was really too short to see much, but it was a good start. We would highly recommend Fred for any future tours!
Victoria Market was fun, the beach boxes were very interesting. Overall the tour was very informative.
A pleasurable introduction to Melbourne and its beautiful scenery and history. Our guide and driver Gary was excellent . Informative , laid back just the right touch.
Enjoyed all the stops, impossible to choose just one but Kevin was a great guide, humorous and he never made anything feel rushed.
Great tour of many different neighborhoods of Melbourne. It was a great way to get small, interesting bits of info quickly as we went through the neighborhoods and getting an overall sense of the city. My family and I took this tour at the start of our trip to Melbourne and it was great to see where we wanted to visit again on our own time. The bus was also comfortable and we had adequate time to stop and take pictures as much as we liked.
Our guide Fred really loves Melbourne! A real Auzzie. It was a good tour with lots of interesting information and opportunities to experience.
Beach boxes would be very difficult to see on our own. Kevin gave a very enjoyable and efficient tour of Melbourne.
Overall this is a great way to see the city. It is very detailed and the small group setting makes it much more enjoyable. It is long, but worth it.
We had a lovely morning seeing the sights of Melbourne with our brilliant guide Fred. He showed us so many sights and gave us lots of tips and information. Fred clearly loves this city which is always the best type of guide to have. Thanks Fred, we had a great time.
Fred G was our tour guide and was a pleasure to listen to his facts and stories about Melbourne. He also gave solid recommendations on where to go after the tour. The night market were a great recommendation for the food and shops. And I’m an F1 fan so it was cool to go around the F1 track. He even stopped to let us get a croissant at Lune, since there was no line. What a great day!
We did this tour to visit Melbourne with a fantastic guide in spanish (Eliseo) who showed us the main places of the city, explained the history of the city and made this tour very interesting. He drove us to the Beach boxes as well. We are very thankful to Eliseo for showing us this wonderful city.
We booked a guided tour with Oceania Tours to get to know the major sights of Melbourne. The first part of our tour (4h) was guided by Sam (we will do an additional review for the second part). Unfortunately he arrived earlier as we were told to pick us up at our hotel and so we missed him (we had breakfast) and 1,5h of our tour without any regrets - but the rest of the tour was an interesting short-trip (you just do a few stops at different sights, to see what‘s worth coming back yourself during your stay). Not a „must have“ for us, if you have the possibility to spend some extra time (because at the tour you do not have time to enter e.g. Sports Stadium, Veterans Memorial, Skydeck at Eureka Tower). At St. Kilda we did not even stop to take a photo… So if you are interested you have to return yourself with more time - what we did.
We had an absolutely fabulous morning tour with Fred. Could not recommend this highly enough. He was really informative and followed up the morning by sending a summary of where and what we had done with lots of tips and hints on other things to do during our visit. One of the best guided tours we have ever done 👏👏👏
Our tour guide Fred made us falling love with Melbourne. He told us beautiful fact about Melbourne and I am definitely coming back and doing tour with Fred
We had a fantastic Melbourne City Sights tour with Guide Kevin on 29th June, He allowed us extra time, and it was great to see these places that I had only heard of, so many wonderful memories. Thank you Kevin.
A very memorable tour with the most memorable bit being our amazing tour guide Fred Garcarczyk who kept the tour alive with his humour and stories. The tour itself is a must do, especially if you are in Melbourne on a short visit and want to make the best of it. And if you happen to get Fred as your guide, then that’s just Destiny’s way of icing the cake and making your trip that much more memorable.
Loved our tour with Fred! He made the city come alive for us and offered lots of great suggestions for additional activities. I also loved his stories and the way his passion for what he does shines!
Great way to see highlights of the city in half a day. Kevin was a very informative guide. Interesting highlights were thoroughly annotated.
My wife and I did the Oceania Tours City Sights Tour with Guide Fred. We have been on many tours all round the world and we have never experienced a guide naturally suited to being a tour guide. His positive attitude to life, his love of his job and of all people, his extensive knowledge and commentary about Melbourne peppered with humerous personal stories made the tour so interesting. We salute you TOUR GUIDE EXTRODAIRE FRED
Our guide Fred was truly outstanding! I am so impressed they continued the tour even though only 2 of us attended. Others would have canceled but Oceania and Fred did not dissapoint and he even added a bonus stop. I will refer others for sure.
The thing I appreciated the most about this tour was the gracious & kind way both the company “Oceania Tours & Safaris” & “Sam” the tour guide dealt with us during the tour. After discovering that there was a booking error (the fault being mine) they allowed my husband & I to continue the tour & fix the problem at the end. Sam, was very sweet in putting my mind at ease, so I could enjoy the rest of the tour. He is very familiar with the City of Melbourne & humorous. This tour is a good sampler of what Melbourne City has to offer in terms of sights & landmarks. This experience has shown me that this company has virtues which make them a stand out business to engage- with. They care about their customers first. Most commendable in this day & age!
A wonderful and informative tour with our guide, Fred, who made the tour really ienjoyable for us. He not only pointed out places of interest but pulled up pictures of the interiors on his phone to give us an idea of what to expect. His narration was peppered with interesting anecdotes that kept us entertained.
