Yarra Valley Lodge

As a couple who have stayed at Yarra Valley Lodge several times over recent years, it was very evident during our stay this weekend that the property is under new management — and the transformation is already showing. Our previous stay around six months ago left us feeling there were a few areas that needed attention, so it was genuinely impressive to return and see such a noticeable improvement. Everything seemed to run extremely smoothly, the service was warm and attentive, and there was a really positive atmosphere throughout the Lodge. Breakfast in particular was excellent — high quality food, great variety and fantastic service. More broadly, there was just a sense that the whole property is being refreshed and revitalised under its new direction. It feels like Yarra Valley Lodge is entering an exciting new chapter. Keep up the great work — we thoroughly enjoyed our weekend and will definitely be back!

My partner and I had a really lovely stay for just one night, Friday 12th - Saturday 13th. The lodge has a really relaxing, serene setting with all the lush greenery and kangaroos around. The room was spacious and comfy. We had some delicious room service, and went down to the restaurant for some dinner and drinks. We received fantastic service from both Kyle and Pierre, having a good chat to Kyle about the lodge and the area. We also had a nice breakfast at the buffet, and the barista coffee was so good. We were also thoroughly looked after by Ebony at reception, who checked us in, and upon checking out advised us on some good walking trails to take. All the staff were very personable and friendly, and the service provided quality!

We have mixed feelings about this hotel. The staff were excellent from start to finish, both over the phone and at reception. The room was beautiful; however, there were two important issues. First, the television did not have Netflix access, and we had to call reception for assistance because it was impossible to connect with our phones. It was really complicated, and the TVs are quite outdated. The second very negative point was the cleanliness of the bathroom. I found a lot of body hair and quite a few hairs on the floor. If there had only been two or three, it would have been acceptable, but there was a significant amount. Considering that I work as a cleaner myself, it is impossible that the floors had been properly cleaned. I honestly think the bathroom was simply not cleaned before our arrival. We were offered to change the room or a small discount at the restaurant, which we accepted, but considering the price of the room, it was still a little disappointing. The breakfast, however, was fantastic, honestly one of the best breakfasts we have ever had in our lives. There was charcuterie, salmon, fresh fruit, pastries, and everything you could possibly want. Overall, we still had a good stay. Thank you to the hotel staff, who were very responsive to all of our requests.

The scenery is amazing, with lots of kangaroos on the greens and a stunning location overall. The room was nice enough, though certainly not what I’d consider 5-star. It’s clearly more of an old-money, quiet retreat rather than somewhere aimed at younger guests, especially with the restaurant and bar closing quite early. That said, if you’re after a relaxing getaway with beautiful surroundings, peaceful vibes, and plenty of wildlife, it definitely delivers on that front. It’s also a great spot for golfers, with the course and surrounding grounds being a real highlight of the property. Service was pleasant and the grounds were very well maintained. Overall, a good experience, but probably better suited to couples, golfers, or older travellers looking for a slower-paced escape rather than a lively resort atmosphere.
