First time staying. Quiet, convenient location and staff were helpful and very polite at both check in and check out. Parking was easy to organise through hotel and they were clear this needed to be organised prior to stay. On check in it was noted if I joined the Hilton honours club I would be offered late check-out at 4pm which was fantastic. My disappointment falls with at this is classed as a 4.5 star hotel and I feel the rooms do not meet this standard. Staying in room 201 with my partner with a balcony, I signed a no smoking waiver on arrival which was fine. But no where to even sit on the balcony to enjoy a morning coffee was disappointing. I ended up carrying an orange stool from inside the room outside to sit on. The bottom sheet on the bed contained numerous small holes. The single piece of paper menu left on the coffee table was one sided (said on the menu to turn over for more options?) and stuck to the table with some sticky residue of an unknown matter. Also the fact there was no bottled watered or the ability to purchase any in-room goods wasn’t ideal and I read online there was a pillow menu but this was not to be found anywhere, for somewhere advertised as a 4.5 star hotel I thought this was pretty poor. I paid a reasonable price using qantas points however when looking up dates again for another stay we have coming up the same room was coming up as $360 full price for a Saturday night in November and there is no way this room meets that value alone unfortunately however understand location plays a part. Will I be back to this particular hotel? Probably not. However for a better price and hopefully a better in room experience I would consider again. (Internal feedback has also been provided to the hotel)

Great location near restaurants and shops, and rooms feel clean and new, but while it says it’s a Hilton it doesn’t feel like the quality you’d expect. The rooms are bare inside; I literally had no option for bottle water to purchase or in room until 7am, unless I ordered room service (which closed at 8:15pm); room coffee wasn’t replenished and just felt sparse. No hotel gym was disappointing as well.
This hotel is better than you’ll expect. The staff are friendly and helpful, the hotel is modern, tastefully decorated and has all the amenities you would expect. Located in Richmond just outside the CBD but still close enough so you don’t feel removed. Lots of nice cafes, restaurants and supermarkets nearby. We need to talk about the parking: if you have a car, the hotel is located on a busy street with no parking immediately outside the front entrance, but there is 2 hour free parking in the side streets immediately adjacent to the hotel, the area is patrolled by parking wardens until 11pm. It is important to note the hotel has 80 rooms and only 5 car parks available to guests… that’s right only 5! So if you have a car make sure you pre-book a car park ($35 per night) If you miss out on a carpark the next best option is the secure underground carpark at Coles (a 2 minute walk from the hotel) it has number plate recognition and you pay upon exit and that works out to be about the same cost per night as the hotel parking but the carpark is locked between midnight and 6am. The process for entering and exiting the hotel carpark is unnecessarily fussy, you park at the roller door, get out and push the intercom, the reception will let you through a side door and ask you to push a button on the inside and then run back through side door get in car and drive through… then the car parks themselves are lifts and VERY tight, to access the basement carpark from the hotel you need to ask staff to grant you access… also, when exiting carpark you need to get out and walk around and push the button before getting back in and driving out. What ever happened to a room key swipe for access in and out like every other hotel? As long as the parking is like this the hotel will get complaints now and forever. It’s probably easier to just use the secure underground park at Coles. The room has a comfortable bed, nice bathroom with nice supplies and great shower pressure but no toilet brush! Despite being located in a busy area the room is very quiet, quiet lifts, very little to no traffic noise and minimal noise from other guests. As far as Melbourne hotels go this represents reasonable value for money… especially if you don’t have a car and don’t need to be in the CBD. I took a punt on this and it paid off, despite the fussy parking situation.
A very artsy aesthetic instagramable staycation place in the heart of Richmond area. The hotel design is so stylish, the room is artsy and spacious, Wednesday Steak Night at Ms Parker was awesome and great services. Thank you Mr James & Ms Anastasia for warm welcome and to all Motley Richmond Hotel Staffs for great hospitality.
Edit: @Motley Hotel - the reservation was under my husband’s name. I have left feedback directly with Hilton using their form should you require further information. Great location, comfortable rooms. Unfortunately I was not impressed by the service. It was adequate, but it was not welcoming. My husband and I arrived early and presented ourselves at the check in desk. We were not greeted warmly. We let her know that we would be checking in that day, and at any other hotel I’ve been to that would ask for details so they could check if the room was ready. She only said that check in was at 2, nothing more, nothing less. I enquired about car parking and I was told that it was full. No assistance with alternative arrangements. She did not offer to hold our luggage (even though when we checked in hours later she asked us if we had stored any) and did not suggest we even use the attached bar/cafe to make us comfortable in the meantime. For a Hilton boutique hotel, I expected more inviting service. I would liken it more to a nicer serviced apartment, rather than a hotel. I would consider staying again if the rates were favourable, but considering we were staying for our wedding anniversary the experience left a lot to be desired.
