I went to the hotel to meet/pick up my friend who was staying here. I urgently needed to use the restroom and provided the front desk with my friend's name and room number. However, the receptionist coldly refused, claiming it was for guests only—completely ignoring the fact that I was a guest's visitor. For a hotel in hospitality, showing zero flexibility and basic courtesy to visitors is unacceptable. Very rigid and unwelcoming staff.
My husband and I stayed at The Lyall for his 30th birthday and had the most magnificent stay. The service was exceptional; The Lyall team treated us with a gorgeous room and birthday sweet treat which made the weekend all the more special. The staff were attentive, kind and welcoming from the moment we entered the hotel. We can’t thank the team enough for making this milestone so memorable! We will be back and would recommend The Lyall to anyone looking for a beautiful boutique hotel experience. Thank you!!
We absolutely loved our stay at The Lyall Hotel. From the moment we arrived, the service was warm, welcoming, and attentive. The rooms were beautiful, comfortable, and felt so luxurious, making it the perfect place to relax and unwind.
The location was also amazing, with so many lovely cafes, restaurants, and shops nearby. Every detail of our stay felt thoughtful and high quality, and it honestly made our Melbourne trip even more special.
We enjoyed our stay so much that we’re already planning to come back again soon. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a beautiful and memorable stay!

Quite possibly the most underrated boutique hotel in Melbourne. Seamless service in a superb location, run by some of the most professional people in hospitality. From the charming owner Mazen who pays meticulous attention to every detail, to Harry the manager who graciously runs a very tight ship, to Sylvia, Olivia, Lily (TLC), Yu and the rest of the team plus Orlando, the gifted Cuban artiste who works tirelessly in the background.
