The Howey

Loved the place. We had some issues with our room and was helped by vincent who really made our stay one to remember. He was very kind and always available during the night shift to help us when we needed. Truly the best service we've ever received.

Stayed here for a special occasion and sadly had a really mixed experience. The good: - The location is fantastic and a good spot to base yourself. - The rooms look great. We had a corner king room, which didn't have a great view, but the room itself was modern. - A great cafe downstairs and an incredible gelato spot. - Bed is big and was comfortable enough. A little on the hard-side. The bad: - Every single night we were woken up and kept awake by construction noise nearby - AT AM!? The noise control is non-existent. I asked the staff and they didn't seem to care or want to do anything. Not even an offer to move us to another room. - I have a big issue with hotels that take security deposits. Most overseas hotels don't do them anymore and have alternative policies. It holds up cash that could be spent on the trip, so from a tourism perspective it doesn't make sense. Then when you're in a rush, staff are having to go and check the room before they refund it back to you. Not great customer service to make people wait because of their own outdated policies. - The bathroom looks cool and modern, but there were a number of issues we experienced during our stay. From the moment we walked it, it smelt like someone very recently used the toilet before we checked in. There was black mould in the overflow hole in the sink - an indication of the lack of detail when cleaning. Overall, just a really disappointing stay on what was meant to be a special occasion. I can't recommend The Howey and likely won't be back.

Our reservation had to be cancelled due to illness. No big deal you may say. However, it's the way it was handled that impressive me. Melissa was excellent in our email exchanges - a genuine concern, quick to respond and easy to cancel. We were provided with an excellent deal but booking direct via Offical Webside. I mean a price less than any ATO. (please don't use the third parties - their hype cannot make the direct booking). We will be back. Thanks Melissa youare a star!

The Howey was a fantastic hotel to stay - newly refurbished to a high design standard, great room layout, spotlessly clean, central location off a laneway and an incredible bakery cafe on the ground floor. And good value for the price. The hotel had a deal with a carpark station 4mins walk away. I stayed as part of an interstate holiday with a group of friends. Only recommendations was the reception staff, whilst very friendly, needed to be faster at check-in/check-out. If a light sleeper, request a room not facing Little Collins St (you can hear the garbage trucks in the morning). Overall a fantastic experience and I will definitely stay again.
