Unfortunately, this was the most disappointing Park Hyatt experience we’ve had. We travel frequently and stay at Park Hyatt properties around the world, as well as other high-end hotels, and this property simply did not live up to the standard we have come to expect from the brand. It was a massive letdown. The hotel itself felt dark, dated, and somewhat tired, with an overall atmosphere that lacked the warmth and energy you would expect from a luxury hotel. The staff also came across as unfriendly and, at times, indifferent. The most frustrating part of our stay was the arrival experience. We were made to wait for hours for our room, and the attitude we received from the staff while trying to understand when it would be ready was extremely disappointing. It effectively ruined much of our first day in Melbourne, wasted a significant part of the day, and left a sour taste for the remainder of our stay. Having stayed at many luxury hotels around the world, we completely understand that rooms are not always available immediately. However, it is how those situations are handled that makes the difference. Unfortunately, there was very little sense of hospitality shown here. In hindsight, we would have much preferred staying at the Grand Hyatt around Collins Street or the Ritz-Carlton, where the service, surroundings, and overall atmosphere feel considerably more vibrant and befitting of a luxury stay. Overall, there was nothing memorable or special about our stay, particularly given the Park Hyatt name. This was a massive letdown for a hotel of this caliber, and we would not choose to stay here again.

This was our second time having high tea here and we were really impressed with how much things had improved compared to our first visit. Service from the team was friendly and attentive and Yaz who looked after our table was particularly excellent. All the food items were beautifully presented on a three-tired stand. The menu created by executive chef Dane was delicious and creative. Both the sweet and savoury dishes were fresh, flavourful, and well balanced. Sandwiches were also very tasty. The scones were served warm with a selection of jams and cream and were fluffy inside with a crispy shell. Overall a very lovely high tea experience.
We chose to stay at Park Hyatt because of the brand reputation and expected an experience on par with other luxury properties. Unfortunately, our stay was a real letdown. The rooms are not adequately soundproofed, which became a major issue during our stay. There was a wedding taking place at the property, and at around 1 a.m., partygoers in the room next door were making a significant amount of noise. When we contacted the front desk, we were told to “be patient.” For a hotel of this supposed standard, that response was unacceptable. Customer service overall felt disorganized and below expectations. Breakfast was also disappointing, with a very limited selection and nothing close to what one would expect from a Park Hyatt property. My simple advice: do not assume this property is on par with other hotels under the same brand. Even the manager acknowledged to me that the building was only taken over after refurbishment about a year ago. Unfortunately, the experience still does not match the brand name or the price point. Overall, this stay fell well way short of expectations.
Absolutely loved the place. The only thing, especially regarding breakfast, that needs improvement, which may be minor, is to offer a lactose free berry smoothie as well. I know it's something minor, but I would have loved to have it since that's my everyday breakfast. Otherwise, it's an awesome place, and the service is good, plus they even have a Bluetooth speaker you can play your own music on, which to me was very thoughtful.
Dear Hotel Management, I would like to express my disappointment regarding our recent stay at your hotel. My wife was part of the Epworth Freemasons hotel package, which allowed us to stay at the hotel on Day 4 after giving birth. Because of this arrangement, I also booked an additional room for my parents and our 4-year-old son. On 25 May, there was a city-wide electricity blackout around 5:00 PM. I understand that this situation was outside of the hotel’s control. However, I was very surprised that the hotel did not appear to have a backup generator or adequate contingency plan in place. There was no electricity or lighting until approximately 4:00 AM the next morning. This created significant stress for our family, particularly because my wife required electricity for her pump after recently giving birth. In addition: -There was no room service available for dinner. -The lifts were not operating. -We had to wait several hours before we could obtain food. -Attempts to contact reception were unsuccessful because we were informed that the phone system was also down. The following day, I spoke with staff to ask whether hotel management would consider any goodwill gesture or complimentary compensation, given that we were unable to utilise most hotel facilities and services. We checked in at 3:00 PM, and the power outage started only two hours later. We considered returning home at night, but we were advised against doing so as our car could potentially become stuck in the car park due to the outage. Despite raising our concerns, I was informed that management had not yet decided on any response. Unfortunately, until now, I have not received any follow-up communication from the hotel. Overall, the experience was extremely stressful, especially given the circumstances surrounding my wife’s recovery after childbirth. While I understand the blackout itself was beyond the hotel’s control, I did not expect a hotel of this standard to operate without backup power, and I was disappointed with how the situation was managed, particularly regarding communication, food availability, and lift access. I would appreciate a response from management regarding this matter.
