Stayed at Next Hotel for the weekend with my husband when visiting Melbourne. Location is amazing - walking distance to/around the shopping precinct. About 20 mins walk to Queen Victoria Market. Surrounded by good cafes and restaurants. We interacted with a few staff for check in as we arrived early. Most were fantastic, friendly and polite and one was lukewarm and not particularly helpful. We had the Next King Room - room is tastefully decorated and space is huge and thoughtfully planned with everything required available. Very comfortable bed. My only suggestion for improvement is for room servicing staff to have more attention to details - hair from previous guests in bathroom, toilet fan was coated with the thickest layer of dust, visible dust on some lights to name a few. Check out process is seamless with online checkout available. Will return for short stay and will recommend to others esp if room cleanliness is addressed promptly.

I recently stayed at Next Hotel Melbourne, and while the property looks appealing, it was very pricey for what you get. I paid over $500 per day, and this rate did not even include breakfast. I was also assigned an accessibility room, which had extra features that I simply did not need. There were some strong positives during my visit. My midnight check-in was incredibly easy, which was a great relief after a late arrival. I also really liked the hotel layout - having the reception located away from the main lobby provides a much nicer atmosphere. The in-house restaurant was decent and served good food. The restaurant staff were very friendly, and I appreciated the dining discount provided to staying guests. Unfortunately, the housekeeping system failed during my stay. I used the provided QR code to request that my room not be made up, but this instruction was completely ignored. Ultimately, it is a fine hotel with good dining, but it struggles to justify the high nightly rate.
The rooms and housekeeping here are excellent. The bed was highly comfortable, room service was great, and the cleaning staff did a perfect job every single day without fail. They deserve recognition. However, I want to address hotel management directly regarding your front desk staff and policies. The customer service upon arrival was below average. We received no greeting or acknowledgement, making us feel completely invisible. One receptionist was preoccupied with her phone and intentionally ignored us until we finally approached her. Furthermore, management needs to reconsider your early check-in policy. We booked a 7-day stay at your hotel, and charging loyal, week-long guests an extra fee for arriving a mere 1.5 hours early is incredibly greedy. We paid the fee to avoid waiting around, but it left a terrible impression. For a 7 days booking, management should focus on hospitality instead of nickel-and-diming guests over a short arrival window.
I recently stayed here and experienced a mix of fantastic hotel features alongside some frustrating operational lapses. I was also charge an additional $770 by the front desk staff upon checking in, even though I have already paid in full in May at time of booking. On the positive side, the hotel offers some lovely, premium touches. I really enjoyed the Who Is Elijah bath products, the flexibility of the pillow menu, and having a Dyson hair dryer in the room; these details genuinely elevate the guest experience. However, my stay was impacted by a severe bathroom drainage issue which was acknowledged as a design fault of the bathroom. Every time I showered, the floor completely flooded, soaking the bath mat and requiring multiple extra towels to absorb the excess water. To make matters worse, despite leaving the "Make Up Room" light on from 0900 until I returned after 1700, housekeeping had not serviced the room at all. The bins were left uncleared, and the heavy pile of wet, cold towels used to manage the flooded floor was still lying there, forcing me to step around or on them. Surprisingly the last day I was there, housekeeping was very eager to clean up the room but I told the 2 female staff members that I will not be checking out till 1500, she wasn’t happy with the time and showed me an annoyed face when I told her. I believe she was in a hurry to get the room ready for the next influx of guests checking in. The saving grace of my stay was Mariana at the front desk. When I brought these issues to her attention, she handled the situation with absolute professionalism, care, and empathy. The executive lounge access and an extended late check-out until 1500 provided a much-needed respite and gave me the space to handle my busy schedule without extra stress. Special kudos to Mariana for her exceptional service recovery. While the amenities and front desk support were excellent, the hotel really needs to address its maintenance and housekeeping response times to match the high standards they aim for.
Last night was the first night my wife and I had been able to go out since our son was born in December. We combined that with being her birthday dinner. I took her to Next Hotel for a nightcap because I'd received good service in the past. Unhappily, that did not happen here. We stood at the bar on level 3. There were only a handful of patrons in the lounge area. We were totally ignored by the two bar staff - and they actually started serving other people who had come to the bar after us. They then resumed their own personal conversation and polishing glassware without so much as even looking at us. A manager appeared, and I caught his attention - but he immediately looked away and walked off without saying anything or returning. Even as we turned and walked away to leave the bar, the bar staff didn't even look up from polishing glasses. I regret the time that was wasted by taking my wife to Next Hotel - especially as it ate into the short time we had available for a final drink before getting back to bub at home. We will not be returning - and if you value your own time, I'd recommend that anyone considering this venue looks elsewhere.
