Had a great stay at Hotel Indigo thanks to Thomas who went above and beyond to offer recommendations in Melbourne. From pointing us to the best hidden coffee spots to helping organize our daily itinerary, his local knowledge and hospitality made a huge difference. The hotel is stylish and perfectly located, but Thomas's outstanding service made our trip!

While in the lobby, I needed to use the restroom. The stall I entered had not been cleaned. The toilet was unflushed, there were blood stains on the trash can, and the sink had numerous dark hair strands across it. The condition was so severe that it made me physically ill. Other stalls were occupied at the time, so I had no choice but to clean up after a previous guest myself before I could use the facility. I went to the front desk immediately, instead of the basic courtesy of an apology or even a moment of concern, the on duty manager, Patricia, responded with visible attitude and no empathy whatsoever. Before I had even finished describing what I encountered, she demanded that I take her to the stall. When I asked her to lower her voice, told her I did not appreciate her tone, and explained that I wanted to describe the condition of the bathroom first, she continued to insist, denied that she had any attitude, and spoke over me. Her tone and demeanor were so hostile that my 70 year old mother, who was also in the lobby, began to cry. I did not pay so my family felt threatened by the staff. I want to be clear about something that should not need to be said. I am a paying guest, not an employee of this hotel. Patricia does not have the authority to order me around or dictate how I report a legitimate hygiene concern. Her role in that moment should have been to listen, apologize, and correct the issue, not to escalate it into a confrontation and altercation. What compounded this further was a separate remark Patricia made during our exchange. When I asked about a different staff member I had spoken with earlier, she referred to him as "the Indian boy" rather than using his name or any other identifying detail. This is racist. It raised a serious question in my mind about how she perceives and categorizes people, myself included, and it left me uneasy given that she has direct access to my personal information and reservation details as the manager on site. I chose an IHG property expecting the brand standard of cleanliness and guest service that Hotel Indigo advertises. Instead, I experienced conditions and treatment I would not accept anywhere, and it has left me feeling unsafe and unwelcome, not just dissatisfied.
We had level six with two queen size beds. Close to Spencer St Station. Beautiful breakfast. Quality over quantity. Staff were very friendly and accomodating. Beds were very comfortable. Would stay here again.
Hotel Indigo on Flinders is a beautiful building in a great location near Southern Cross Station. It’s in a wonderfully walkable area, making it easy to explore Melbourne's historic buildings, laneways, and restaurants. The hotel itself is nice and new. I loved the photography and art-themed decor throughout, and the lobby is beautifully decorated. The gym is very nice, and the lounge and bar area was great—we really enjoyed happy hour and ordering snacks from the restaurant. The buffet breakfast was also excellent and very delicious. Every staff member we met was lovely, friendly, and welcoming. A special shout-out to Tom at the front desk! Our city view room facing Spencer Street was a little noisy with the trains passing, so next time I’d request a courtyard view or a room on Flinders Lane for a quieter stay. That said, the rooms were lovely and I highly recommend staying here.
I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The room was a great size—spacious enough to feel comfortable without being overwhelming. It was beautifully designed, modern, and exceptionally clean. Not only was the bed soft and comfortable, but even the chair was surprisingly comfortable to sit in. Housekeeping cleaned the room daily, and the staff provided outstanding service throughout my stay. The hotel offers on-site parking for AUD 45 per day, although it needs to be booked in advance. The location is convenient and makes it easy to get around. Another great feature is the 24-hour room service, which was very helpful. The only thing missing was a microwave, but this was a minor issue compared to all the positives. Overall, I had a fantastic experience and felt that the hotel offered excellent value for money. It was easily my favorite hotel during my trip, and I would happily stay here again.
