Holiday Inn Melbourne Airport By Ihg

First off, the hotel is wonderful for a Holiday Inn. The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable. The front desk staff and shuttle service were perfect. Check in was simple and easy. However, I'm extremely upset with the hospitality and I believe the pub staff need re-training. Big time. I checked into the hotel around half-5 and, being so far from the city center, I hung out in the lounge for a long period of time and ordered beers over a few hours. I left to settle into my room, then returned later in the evening where I was told I couldn't be served. Not because of intoxication, but because of one member telling his relieving staff member I had spent too much time in the lounge, whether it was drinking, hanging out on my phone, or otherwise relaxing in the common area. Absolutely insane. I hold an RSA in Victoria and these staff members were out of bounds. Not a great experience before leaving a long flight back home, I'm not happy at all, some changes to staff definitely need to be made, if not for a refresher course in customer service/RSA laws. There was one female manager that was very kind that overheard my gripes and she was very accommodating and kind, so I'm thankful for her.

Very close to the terminals, but didn't notice much plane noise. Hotel has its own shuttle bus, so very convenient. A few rather dated features in the room, eg there was a 'data' socket but no USB charging, but very comfortable. Couldn't get the thermostat to go below 21°, which was a bit warm for us. Had a very tasty meal in the restaurant, and the breakfast was amazing - huge choice and everything really fresh.

Clean! Roomy, comfy, lovely staff, walkable from airport or bus every 15 mins. Its dated but good value. Didn't eat there but has bar & restaurant & carparking. Request room away from lift as its arrival bell is noisy.

Shuttle picked us up without issues. Room was really nice. Quiet. Beds were very comfy and lots of pillows. We could navigate our way back to airport in 5or so minutes to catch a bus to the city.
