Disappointing Experience at Grand Hyatt Melbourne — Cleanliness, Maintenance & Communication. Our recent stay at the Grand Hyatt Melbourne was unfortunately far below our expectations. Before our arrival, we had specifically emailed the hotel requesting a very clean room. We made this request in advance because cleanliness and comfort were important to us, and we trusted that the hotel would take note of it. Sadly, that was not our experience. When we entered our first room, we immediately noticed visible dust on the TV screen, table and sofa. The situation became even more unpleasant when we discovered that the slice of cake provided in the room was covered with dust. We were genuinely disgusted. We immediately raised the matter with the manager, who tried to assist us by finding another room. We appreciate the manager's effort, but unfortunately, the second room still did not appear to have been cleaned properly. We couldn't help but wonder: How does a room with visible dust and dirt pass the housekeeping inspection and get released to a guest? The second room was better, but we then encountered several other problems. The toilet was not flushing properly, the tap was worn out and dirty, and there were also issues with the bathroom doors. To make matters worse, we subsequently came to know that renovation works were being carried out on the 7th and 8th floors. We were disappointed that this was not made clear to us beforehand. When a guest is booking a stay at a hotel of this standard, particularly after making a specific request for a clean and comfortable room, we believe there should be clear communication about ongoing renovation works that may affect the guest experience. We understand that renovation and maintenance are sometimes necessary. However, guests should be properly informed, and rooms should still meet the expected standard before being handed over. What disappointed us most was the lack of empathy we felt when raising our concerns. We were not expecting perfection, but we did expect someone to genuinely understand how frustrating it was to encounter these issues after communicating our expectations before arrival. For Grand Hyatt Melbourne, we expected better housekeeping standards, proper maintenance, transparent communication and, most importantly, a stronger sense of guest care. We hope management will review this experience seriously. This is not simply about dust and dirt , a faulty toilet or a worn-out tap dwith occasional wired sound , It is about the overall guest experience and the lack of attention to basic details. We came to Melbourne looking forward to a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Unfortunately, this experience was memorable for all the wrong reasons. And also do indicated in trip.com that you are doing renovations till 2028 pls .

Location is good, restaurant good but staffs can be sloppy. The last trip I was here my room wasn't locked after housekeeping cleaned my room. I had to complain and in the end they gave me some token hyatt points. I was disappointed and stayed at the other hotels at Collins and little Collins. Not that I'm after any perks but leaving the door unlocked is just unacceptable. Decided to give them a chance again as my colleague is staying at the same hotel, this time I checked out before 10am and asked if I can use the shower facilities after I checked out but they told me the gym facilities are under renovation and I also asked if I can use the spa as I intended to be a paying customer and was given a curt no before I could say so. The receipt didn't make it to my inbox for some reason and I had go back to the front desk to ask for that after my 7pm meeting which it did after they sent it again. I asked if the spa was open and front desk said their therapists may have gone home and asked if I booked. So it seems the hardware is there but the software clearly isn't there. Not sure if I should give them another chance my next trip. The other Hyatts I stayed in do have much better service.
We stayed here for a few days for a business/pleasure trip in winter. The room was large and we even had a big bath tub in there. Modern and tastefully decorated with all the amenities you need whilst away. Staff were really lovely and quick to help out when needed. E had drinks at the Rooftop Bar one evening, cocktails, and they were totally amazing. We had breakfast included in our deal and the menu was nice, not too many options though but the food was delicious. Really enjoyable stay.
Stayed for a special birthday occasion. Fabulous room with great view and super comfy. Amazing bathroom (great water pressure and no leaky showers here!) with nice towels. Plenty of lifts that all actually work so you never have to wait for long. The customer service was just perfect -- great check in and check out and all the staff we encountered were so respectful and friendly. We had breakfast at Collins Kitchen which was delicious and they look after those with dietary requirements. Plus great location in good proximity to Chinatown and main shopping areas.
I am deeply disappointed and frustrated by the abysmal check-in experience my partner and I encountered last night (May 22nd) at the Grand Hyatt Melbourne. Despite its prime location, the front office staff's dismissive and outright rude demeanor ruined our entire stay from the very first minute. When we arrived to check in last night, the front desk agent claimed they could not locate our reservation in their system. They blamed this on a system upgrade that apparently took place between the night of the 18th and 19th. It makes absolutely no sense why a system upgrade that concluded days ago would cause our record to vanish on the 22nd. Throughout this entire process, the agent spoke to us with extreme impatience, accompanied by condescending facial expressions. Their tone made it feel as if we were the ones creating trouble for them, treating us with a palpable vibe of being completely unwelcome. The entire experience was deeply unpleasant and insulting. It feels as though this hotel practices rampant favoritism—unless you walk in dressed to the nines, looking like a high-rolling elite, the front desk staff will look down on you with pure snobbery and treat you like a second-class citizen. I strongly advise travelers to avoid this hotel. No matter how good the location is, no one deserves to pay premium Grand Hyatt prices just to be subjected to such arrogant and disrespectful treatment. Management urgently needs to retrain their front office team on basic hospitality and human decency.
