Eltham Gateway Hotel

Absolutely disgusting room and extremely disappointing service. We arrived at the hotel expecting a clean and hygienic room, but what we found was completely unacceptable. The bedding had bodily-fluid stains, including what appeared to be urine, pubic hairs, and blood stains. The mattress itself also had obvious staining. There was also a large amount of visible mould in the cupboard, which is particularly concerning from a hygiene perspective. We immediately contacted management and reported the condition of the room. We were told that a cleaner would be sent up, but over an hour later, nothing had been done. When we followed up, we were essentially told that there was nothing else they could do. The biggest disappointment isn’t just the condition of the room, but the lack of urgency and care shown by staff after we reported it. These are basic hygiene standards that should be checked before guests are given a room. We have taken photos of the issues and documented the condition of the room. I would strongly recommend that management seriously review their cleaning and room-inspection procedures. Very disappointing experience and nowhere near the standard I would expect from accommodation.

Terrifying. We chose to stay here as we were visiting family close by and not a lot of option in this area! Big mistake. Majority of people staying here are long term residents and it looks like a half way house. Drug deals happening in the car park, overdosed woman laying on ground, a massive brawl with screaming, shouting and cars hooning through. We left within 3 hours and had to find alternative accommodation 30 mins away. I have never felt more scared staying anywhere in my life and I’ve stayed in a ghetto area in San Francisco in my 20s. Stay away from this place. Still trying to get refund through booking.com. It’s a shame I cannot share the videos. The room was also pretty shocking and the bathroom locked us in when we closed it. Police and paramedics attended however I don’t think this is an uncommon occurrence at this “hotel”.

A generous 2 stars. We stayed in late May and felt quite uncomfortable. The bedding was clean and the bed comfortable, but the room had a musty smell and when using the bathroom basin there was a yucky smell - we think due to mould. Wouldn’t stay here again.

I was disappointed with my experience at this hotel. Communication from the staff was poor, and it often felt as though guest comfort and satisfaction were not a priority. Instead, the focus seemed to be primarily on financial matters. Additionally, the reception staff were not respectful or welcoming, which further affected my stay. Based on my experience, I would not return to this hotel and would not recommend it to others.
