Boutique Small Group: Saklikent Gorge, Tlos & Gizlikent Waterfall

Morning visit to Tlos - one of the oldest cities in Lycia - mentioned in 14th century BC records. In one location - Lycian, Greek, Roman and Ottoman history all together! So lucky to go in the amphitheatre as it’s only been open 2 weeks after 10 years of restoration. The Roman bath complex was wow! Just so interesting especially as I did Latin at school. In the afternoon Gizlikent waterfall. Fantastic lunch and great company on the trip. There were options to do extra things like zip wire but we wanted to have an ice cream. Ended up at Saklikent Gorge with our hard hats - busman’s holiday actually! Then we found the comfy Turkish cushions for a chill and coffee + Efes. Fantastic guide for the day Mehmet - just full of fascinating facts and historical stories. Excellent value for money and went to such interesting locations. Superb weather too. Such a treat to walk around Tlos that many people have called at on a jeep safari but not had chance to walk around Tlos itself and walk up to the tombs - great! Views of the mountain and a complete 360 at the top! Fabulous.

Booked Three excursions with Chillax Travel in Oludeniz with Sue. It was a great experience. We enjoyed the Tlos Saklikent Gorge+Gizlikent Waterfall the best. History scenic and walking shallow rivers for two 68 year olds with did well.lol. the Fethiye city tour was also amazing .the Ghost town the tombs of Fethiye the old town. And it included the cable car up the Bagadag mountain to watch the Paragliders take off. Note that most tours in oludeniz only include the ghost village and fethiye tombs and old town and dont include the cable car. So I would recommend chillax Travel. Near top of strip on the left going up go and see Sue.you wont be disappointed

Excellent tour with a superb, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable guide. The communication by WhatsApp ahead of the tour was excellent. You do need a reasonable degree of mobility- there are a lot of steps, it is scrabbly wading and the ground at Tlos is uneven and rocky. Unfortunately we couldn't walk into Saklikent Gorge due to recent rain but what we saw of it was stunning and it's on our list to go back to. The waterfall is worth the walk - on a hotter day it would have been great to swim there. Tlos is remarkable and our guide was able to explain what each area had been, which civilisation built it or adapted it and how to differentiate the architecture. Top tip: invest in water shoes with a good grip. You can hire them, but they don't cost much on Amazon. And wear decent shoes for walking at Tlos. You do the gorge and then the waterfall in the morning so take a change of dry clothes for Tlis - there are changing cubicles at the waterfall restaurant area. Chillax will be my first choice for all future tours.

Very nice tour, small 10 -12 person group. On time pick up. Smooth journey. The guide was very nice and knowledgable. The gorge and waterfall both very beautiful. Tlos was nice too.

We had a great experience with this excursion in late August 2026! Mehmet was a fantastic guide and gave us interesting insight into each of the three stops. The pickup and drop-off were seamless, and the logistics were all quite well organized. There were 15 individuals on the tour, of varying ages and backgrounds, and all seemed to enjoy themselves. We would definitely recommend.

This trip was amazing, definitely recommend going with the small group and felt more intimate. Mehmet was the best guide, knew the area and you could tell he loved it all. Never pressured anyone. We went to Tlos and was given the history all the way up the hill. Then onto Galikent for lunch and walk down the gorge to waterfall. Then finally Salikent gorge. So glad I go to see the history close up and given sure useful information about everything from Mehmet.

Mehmet was an exceptional guide, really pleased we chose this trip as most on offer were on a safari car with water pistols! It was a very hot trip so the air con bus was lovely after each stop. Mehmet helped my mum navigate up to the ruins and was kind. You did not feel rushed and his English was brilliant. Lunch was spot on and transport felt safe. I would recommend the water shoes for the gorge, they are cheap to rent or buy. The limit on the crowd size was nice and felt more personal. Would highly recommend 😄

Mehmet was our guide and he was brilliant. Came to pick us up from our hotel on the scheduled time. First stop Tlos. Mehemet was so informative and loved to talk about the history, made you feel emersed in the place. Had time for a drink in the shade before on to Gazlikent. The lunch provided was lovely, choice of fish or chicken and able to purchase drink on site for reasonable price. Had option to partake in zip line or rafting after walking up the river to the waterfall. The walk was managable if you are quite mobile and with water shoes. We then went on the rafting, this was such a laugh! Then on to Saklikent gorge. Wow! This was amazing. We had roughly 90 minutes so unable to make the whole gorge, but what we did experience was superb. Again with water shoes. This was one of the best excursions we have ever done and thouroughly enjoyed

Mehmet was an excellent guide! Very friendly and knowledgeable, answering all the questions anyone had. I appreciated how he took extra care to ensure everyone was safe and happy. Highly recommend him! The group size was also perfect. Small enough that it didn’t feel crowded. Tlos was well worth the visit. Beautiful views and history, but not so crowded like many of the other sites. There is a bit of steep walking involved to climb up the rock tombs, so bring good sturdy hiking shoes or boots for this part of the tour. Sturdy, tight-fitting water shoes are a must to change into for the rest. It’s quite the journey to reach Gizlikent waterfall, walking up and down lots of stairs and wading through the water in the river. It was a refreshing reprieve from the hot summer weather. It was very crowded when I went on September 2nd, but definitely worth navigating the river and the crowds to soak up (literally) the waterfall at the end. Wear clothes you are prepared to get wet in. Saklikent gorge was the highlight of the trip for me. It was also very crowded so be prepared to maneuver through water, slippery rocks, and people. Worth it to walk through the spectacular rock formations. I only wish i had more time. We had 1.5 hours, but could have used 2 hours. There is apparently a spectacular waterfall at the end, but after 45 minutes of walking and picture taking, I ran out of time to get there. I was told it was still another 10 minutes of walking past the point where I had to turn around.

Got picked up from hotel at exact time, in nice minibus. The two gorge walks were incredible, fantastic scenery (both gorge walks not suitable for elderly/infirm as an elderly lady in our group was struggling). Given 1.5 hours to walk Salikent gorge, but that wasn't enough time to reach the end and back, but walked along most of it and was pretty tired, with painful feet. Amazing scenery! Mehmet the tour guide wad very polite and nice.

Culture and nature in one day. After a informative visit to Tlos, the waterfall was the perfect place to cool off. Afterwards, there was still plenty of time to explore the Saklikent Gorge. Many thanks to our friendly tour guide, Mehmet.

This was a great way to see a bit of history and experience parts of Turkey away from the coast. The waterfall was stunning and worth the walk. Our guide Mehmet was excellent providing lots of interesting facts and stories about the history of Tlos. We would recommend this tour

I really enjoyed the fact it was a smaller group, I didn't feel it was rushed and got to take some good photos/videos of stunning places! We got food along the way and bottles of water on the bus if needed. Tour guide Mehmet and our driver (didn't catch his name) was friendly throughout and I have to express my appreciation for the fact I wasn't feeling well but I was looked after by both, and also by the other members of our group. I travelled with my 13 year old son, we both felt comfortable enjoyed the whole day!

Much more than we expected! The ruins were amazing, the waterfall breathtaking, and the gorge was beautiful. The trip Is a little technical, but our guide Mahmet looked after our older guests and was very considerate. Water shoes are a must, and you will sleep well after!!

We had an amazing trip with Mehmet as our guide . He was so informative and helpful. We took our elderly parents with us and they did struggle with the waterfall walk. Mehmet helped my mum and guided her through the difficult bits. He really was a hero of the day and adapted parts of the trip for her so they could enjoy the gorge when we went off exploring. You do need to be relatively fit to walk the gorge and waterfall. All in all this was the highlight of our trip to Turkey. Thank you Mehmet!

Be prepared with your footwear, water shoes doesn't mean flipflops or sandals! We found this out the hard way as the rivers are very rocky and of course slippy. Nonetheless we still made it to the waterfall and a good way through the gorge. The ruins were the highlight for me personally, being able to see traces of so many different civilisations and touch pillars carved thousands of years ago is a once in a lifetime experience. This was definitely a small group tour which made it so much better, we saw other tours with massive coaches and it looked so much less personal. Mehmet was an amazing guide who was always ready to help or just check in and with such a small group he knew who everyone was and where we were at all times.

We had an excellent time on this trip. Mehmet our guide was excellent and we really enjoyed taking in the history he provided. Lunch included was very tasty and we really enjoyed exploring the route to the gorge and the waterfall especially once away from the crowds. The tour company were excellent providing us with plenty of information on what we needed for the trip. Our only small criticism was that the air conditioning wasn’t great on the bus and in the heat it made the journey a bit uncomfortable.

He made sure we had a smooth, comfortable ride all day, kept the air conditioning running so we never felt overheated despite the summer heat, and got us safely between each destination with a smile. The group size of just six people was perfect—small enough to ask questions, get to know everyone, and enjoy each stop without feeling rushed or crowded. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the Fethiye area. It was one of the highlights of our trip and is absolutely not to be missed!

Amazing day trip to Tlos, Salikent Waterfall and Gorge. We booked the small group tour, Mehmet was a great tour guide. Really informative, patient and kept us on track to complete all the day activities. Picked up from our hotel at the arranged time and as promised was a really small group. We found the day to be really enjoyable and the water rafting was so much fun to try. At lunch that was included the chicken which we all had and thought it was nice. Definitely would recommend Chillax for your tours.

Definitely a great active day out including history, geology, beautiful views in nature and various interesting challenges. Our experienced guide Mehmet was an absolute star ensuring everyone was included as well as kept safe at all times. The small group setting, ours was of 7 participants only, allows for flexibility in timing when the more elderly move more slowly, when we realised our chosen shoes wouldn't be the most appropriate and we needed to purchase some wet-boarding shoes for the walk in the river towards the waterfall and for bonding within this group, bringing great camaraderie from venue to venue. A great guide like Mehmet will ensure that many understood the challenges of each activity prior engaging in them at the degree which felt accessible for each person. A Must Recommended Trip for a solo personne, a couple, a mother & her child or a group of friends 👍👌

There was great communication about the pick up. Memet was a fantastic guide so interesting and knowledgeable, and very patient without information overload. The trip is definitely planned the right way round for cooling off after seeing the ruins. I would highly recommend The only thing I would say, please consider your fitness as there are a lot of uneven surfaces and steps

This was a perfect trip from start to finish! I cannot recommend Chillax enough. Our driver was prompt, vehicle was spotless, and being in such a small group gave us chance to make friends easily. Mehmet was a fabulous guide providing really interesting information on the history of Tlos - an absolutely fascinating site with ruins literally at your fingertips. The waterfall was like something out of a fairytale and the gorge was breathtaking (especially in the cold water!!) The food was delicious and make sure to buys yourself a drink at the small cafe at Tlos (the staff there are so hospitable). It was an experience I will treasure for a lifetime ❤️

Really good day trip. Mehmet was very knowledgeable at Tlos Ancient Ruins. He was very supportive with helping my Auntie at Gizlikent with climbing the rocks and walking in the water. Lunch was nice and we were part of a small group of 5. The minibus kindly dropped us at the bus station in Fethiye and showed us where to get the bus for Uzumlu. 😁

We were staying in Oludinez for a week. We were amazed by the colourful sight of the paragliders as they filled the sky…. so we thought we’d join in! We booked with Sue at the Chillax desk.She patiently explained everything about the booking and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We returned to Sue to book our next adventure which involved alot of water and mud and was hilarious. Thank you for your care and attention Sue xx

We felt well looked-after on the tour, Mehmet checked in to make sure we were coping with the heat ok and found places to stop in the shade and tell stories. We were grateful to have someone guide us through safe passages of the climb up to the top of Tlos and through the Gizlikent waterfall hike. We had a much better experience of the sites for his guidance. We were very comfortable throughout the day, the transport was excellent quality and we made rest-stops with good facilities and kind hospitality. Lunch was taken at Saklikent and was really delicious. I was so glad to choose a small group operator, it made the day really enjoyable and as the name suggests - chill! I would definitely use them again for future tours.

My family had an extraordinary day today on this beautiful tour. We felt like we were in great hands with Mehmet, our superb guide who no doubt loves what he does. He told us a wealth of information of the history of Tlos in such a way that even kept my teenage kids engaged. It was a very active day and we appreciated all the well timed rest breaks in between each destination. I had high expectations from Gizlikent and Sakklikent since I’ve been there 30 years ago. They were still amazing! I’m glad Mehmet guided us since he gave us tips to get us through the challenges leading to the waterfall and gorge in the easiest and enjoyable way possible. I had water shoes but I wish I brought ones with harder bottoms; walking on those rocks through running water got pretty intense so I took it very slow. Glad we all did it though. It was an unforgettable day.

Was a very good day out. We got to see a different side of Turkey than the usual party atmosphere. A scenic and historic trip with lots of interesting information and activities to do. I would definitely recommend bringing shoes you wouldn’t mind getting wet and potentially even swimmers as some of the activities you can get quite wet. Additionally, the gorge at the end isn’t included in the overall price, it’s about 250TL pp so not terrible, but be prepared as the water is freezing. Although we didn’t try it, the rafting at the gorge looked good fun so maybe budget £10/€10pp to do that. Would definitely recommend and do again

I would highly recommend this trip. The guide-Mehmet was kind, friendly and welcoming. We visited Turkey 1st time and it was amazing. We enjoyed historical sites with stunning architecture. The gorge was the best, the water was clear and cold. The waterfall was scenic. We enjoyed a lot and would advise others to visit as well.

We loved everything about this tour. Firstly our tour guide Mehmet was brilliant, very knowledgeable, we could have asked him anything and he knew the answer, he was really good with the kids aswell. The smaller group tour was a more personal experience, it worked well for us as a family, and the locations were amazing. Tlos is a must see, and the walk up to the waterfall was so unique, the food was really good and also good portion sizes, we would definitely recommend!

Great day out with my partner. Mehmet was a brilliant and engaging tour guide with lots of knowledge. Waterfall is a must see.

Mehmet was punctual and navigated the traffic and road work with ease. He was incredibly knowledgeable and was able to answer all of our questions. As big history needs, we often ask questions guides aren't able to answer, which was not the case here. He climbed every rock, and waded through the water with us. He also takes great pics, so don't hesitate to ask him to capture your group! We plan on coming back to Turkey next year, and will definitely be booking another tour with Mehmet.
