You will blindly grade several coffee types, using a professional coffee sensory protocol. You will be able to interact with the attendees when evaluating them. 3. You will understand how coffee flavors are extracted through some of the best Colombian samples. 4. You will understand concepts such as fragrance, aroma, body and aftertaste, and how they help you enjoy the true taste of coffee. 5. You will appreciate the real difference between low and high quality coffee. The experience ends with a brief coffee preparation class and some coffee consumption recommendations.

My family booked the coffee experience on a whim. We took my older parents in their 70s, my husband and myself and my 10 yo son (who brought a book to keep himself busy). This ended up being one of the highlights of our time in Medellin and even my son participated and throughly enjoyed the experience because Javier was so engaging! We truly loved it from start to finish! Javier was knowledgeable and friendly and really interesting. We learned so much about how coffee is produced, in general, and more specially in Colombia. He covered the part of coffee knowledge and tasting which you don’t get by visiting a coffee farm so it was a perfect experience. Javier knows a lot about specialty coffee and it is done in a really nice setting in the hotel. Can highly recommend!
One of the best activities I had in Medellín. I had stayed in Jardín, where many of the coffee farms in Antioquia were located, and this coffee tasting experience added more layers to my coffee farm experience. It didn’t have a lot of overlaps and was very educational, with detailed explanations of different flavor profiles. Also, the café recommendation was very useful during my short visit in Medellín.
This was a disappointing experience. It only lasted one hour, and I thought that we were going to talk a lot more about describing the flavors of coffee and how to do a cupping properly. It was very surface-level and overpriced. I cannot recommend this activity.
We tried the coffee experience and it was really informative. Javier is highly profesional and we learnt a lot and tasted different types is coffee. Although we have tried to visit a coffee farm this was something extra that there isnt a lot of in Colombia. I would recommend this to anybody who loves coffee. For the rest of our tour and future coffee shopping we now know what to look for.

Javier was an excellent coffee connoisseur and helped us appreciate coffee in a way we hadn't before. He was very cool about accommodating family members (7 in total). Everyone had a great experience and some of us bought coffee bags at a local shop he had high marks for. This is perfect for people who want to learn more about coffee and how it makes it to your cups every morning. It was about $31 USD and well worth it.
Javier was so informative and overall great for this coffee tasting. I highly recommend this quick tour to learn a bit more about coffee and then be on your way to the next thing! The hotel where it’s hosted is also great!
I did the coffee tasting at the Marquee with Javier today. He was so knowledgeable and shared the information in a way that was easy to understand. It was a fun experience and I feel like I have a much better understanding of what good coffee is now and how to buy , store and prepare the beans!

I love coffee and thought that I knew all there was to know about it until Javier proved me wrong. In addition to just being a wonderful person, he is also extremely knowledgeable about coffee and I want to label him a “coffee sommelier.” Whether you are a coffee lover or not, I highly recommend this coffee tasting experience. The coffees that you are able to try, the thoughtful brewing demonstrations, the education, the lovely hotel, and Javier himself make this an experience like no other. You will not be disappointed!
This was a fantastic experience to learn about the process of what makes good coffee while enjoying our time in Medellín. Javier was extremely knowledgeable of coffee growing, harvesting, roasting, and how Colombian coffee (and coffee exports) have changed over the past 20 years. The tasting was very interactive and we left with a better understanding of coffee, all while staying close to our hotel in El Poblado. In addition to the quality of this experience, the Marquis hotel is a beautiful building and it was a lovely place to spend the morning.
I really liked the experience, it was very complete and we learned a lot from coffee, we had already made more coffee experiences even on a farm, but I feel that this was the missing complement to experience all phases of coffee and really know how to choose a good coffee. I liked that Javier knows a lot about the subject and explains very well, apart from giving you a list of where you can go to buy a good coffee

The tasting experience is very interesting. Javier provides details about the coffee, fermentation processes, torra. We have the opportunity to have olfactory and palatable experience, both of grains and powders from ground grains. I recommend!
