This was a great tour and I would recommend it to anyone who likes beer. Unlike the other Comuma 13 tours that everyone else does, this one starts high up on the hill (way above the tourist area) and moves downwards. I really enjoyed walking through a very non-touristy part of Comuna 13 and just seeing how the locals lived. Our two tour guides were great and everything was taken care of for us, including food and literally as many beers as we wanted to drink. It was honestly one of the best tours I've ever been on and way better I imagine than the standard $30 Comuna 13 tour that most people do in large groups. Thanks!

Reviews
This experience was definitely something else. We stared deep into the neighborhood and walked to the top of the hill. We first sat in at the most local bar and drank our first couple of beers. It was impressive to see there were holes of gunshots in the metal bars near the police station. Then we slid through the alleys and even visited the house of Gloria, one of the humble inhabitants in the area. A solid 10/10 for the crew.
This felt like a really complete tour of comuna 13. You start way out of the beaten path where you get to see the real life of the inhabitants of this comuna. Further on, there is an abundance of beer and food, so come hungry and thirsty :) At one time during the tour I freaked out because of the situation, and the guides did all they could to calm me down. Cudos! I would recommend this tour to everyone who want something different from the typical Graffiti walking tours of comuna 13.
It felt like the most complete tour that you could ask for- starting in the unglamorous, untouristified heart of the Comuna without a single other tourist around, hearing about the heartbreaking past of the area as well as its evolution into its current, safer, more stable form, stopping by at all the best viewpoints, and slowly making our way to the more well-travelled areas of the Comuna. All the best spots for food, views, and amazing company from the Chubit gang who are an absolute pleasure to hang out with. Would give it 10/5 if I could!
This is a great way to experience Comuña 13 with two knowledgeable, fun and attentive guides, enhanced by craft beer! Well recommended.
My wife and I recently took this exceptional tour with Chubit Travel’s small group Comuna 13 History and Beer Crawl tour. This is an all-encompassing informational, beer, and food tour that lasts for 6+ hours taking you first through an area that is seldom seen by tourists and locals alike. The tour is conducted both in English and Spanish by Diana, a local who grew up in the Comuna. In Spanish, she explained the history and past struggles that the area endured and present-day life. Santiago, also a Medellin native, provided the English translation and was the go to person for food and drink. Both were fantastic personable guides. The information was fascinating, sad, and at the same time provided some hope for a better future for the residents. We met residents in their houses and saw how they presently live; it was an eye-opening experience that you do not get on the regular “graffiti” tours. The excursion is all downhill with breathtaking views. At the beginning of the tour, you will be treated to Colombian street food as well as, of course, beer (or non-alcoholic beverages if you so desire). Along the way, more stops for more beverages, all you can possibly want, and later the walk transformed into the more well-known Comuna 13 commercial area of street art and stores, with stops to peruse locally-owned establishments. The fun continued with several stops at different bars, and tastings of beers that are brewed only in the Comuna, so different and unusual. If you wanted more than just a tasting of a beer you liked, you would just ask Santi for a bottle–ALL INCLUSIVE. With many beer tastings, more food, and the constant beat of different genres of Colombian music, it made for a great and memorable day. Arrive hungry and thirsty. Again, there is no other Comuna 13 tour like this, and well worth the price for the experience. If you enjoyed yourself as much as we did, please consider providing the guides with an extra gratuity for their hard work because they told you their story, ensured your safety, and ensured that all your needs were taken care of. One last important point that this tour provided: Santi called for transportation at the end of the tour and waited to make sure we were safely on our way. This is important considering you do not want to be wandering around looking for your Uber or hailing a cab, especially after dark.
The Comuna 13 tour is the best tour you can get in Medellin, you immediately feel at ease with the hosts as they try to give you the best travel experience for your trip. You get to try different types of beer and the bars we go have the best scenic views of the area, I highly recommend it if you want to have an unique experience in Medellin.
I took Chubit's Comuna 13 tour and it was amazing. The tour started at a local tiendita with an authentic experience of trying local foods and drinks while getting to know the others on the tour. Of course we got to see the main attractions of Comuna 13, but we also visited parts of the comuna that I don't think other tours include, and had very informative stories and commentary from the excellent tour guide, Daniel. We even got to visit the home of a woman and her family who live in the comuna to see what life is like for them. The tour also included several stops at local establishments to try some delicious beers along the way. It was also a VIP experience, which honestly I wasn't expecting. From the moment I arrived, Esteban offered me a drink and took great care of all of us throughout the whole tour, always attending to whatever we wanted or needed. Really really great people at Chubit!
Perfect blend of history, personal experience, art, and craft brews. Dayhana, Santi, and Vincent were all amazing. So nice to have a small group and stories from a local resident instead of a packaged tour with a script. Even non-drinkers will enjoy this perspective on the neighborhood. If you do drink, however, you’ll enjoy endless local brews and supporting local businesses. Make sure to pace yourself as the steps can get a bit tricky after several rounds! Amazing experience.
We booked a Medellín tour in Comuna 13 and the Chubit team was phenomenal from the time we booked! We felt very taken care of and the tour was the most authentic on our trip. We got to meet locals, try the best food, sample 10+ local beers we wouldn’t find anywhere else, and to experience the arts and sights we would never find on a map. Amazing! Highly recommend working with Vincent and our guide Santiago (Santi). I wouldn’t hesitate to book again!
This tour is the most memorable from our time in Medellín. You start off in a popular tienda/bodega at the top of a hill, greeting your guide and meeting a local resident from Comuna 13 over a drink and snack (empanadas were delicious!) and you walk down steps and explore the neighborhood the rest of the time (much easier than many tours that start at the bottom and make you hike up the hill). We heard the real story of the neighborhood that our local guide lived since her childhood, visited a home to see how people live, and stopped by several bars, art shops and food stands that our guide recommended. Picking the right places to go and having all our street food and beer covered by the tour is a huge benefit - you really see more, sit in the best spots with incredible views, and experience what the local residents like to do and eat and drink. We must have sampled 12-15 beers along the way, and tried 5-6 types of food and dessert. It felt limitless to try things as we went and to have a new friend from this community point things out along the way. Unscripted, so fun, so original. Do it!!!
A fantastic tour providing a different perspective of Comuna 13 plus sampling beers that are only available in the area. This was truly a unique and authentic experience. Even if you have done other tours of Comuna 13, this one is not the same! The local guides took us to non-touristy spots and locations that typical tourists/visitors would not go or would not have access to. Highly recommend this tour and would 100% do it again with other friends who are visiting!
We had a great time at the Comuna 13 tour with Chubit Travel. It definitely is an experience I'd recommend. Great start by having lunch at a local restaurant/store and then walking around the neighborhood, something you can't find in another tour agency. Our guides were really friendly and attentive, took care of everything for us. This is the perfect place to have a genuine local experience.
A friend recommended me to go on the comuna 13 tour with Chubit Travel and I must say it did not disappoint! We were treated like a VIP from local breakfast to beers and more. The guides were geeat and clearly knew the area. I appreciated that one of the guides was born and raised in the area. I learned so much from the tour.
I got connected to the Chubit Tours on Facebook…and really wanted to experience the real Comuna 13. We started our tour in the popular local store Granero el corazón and there we met Daniel, a local and his family, had a coffee and ate a snack, then we crossed the neighborhood on the way to the graffiti tour, here we could see how local families live in an environment (not touristy at all) - we got to the road of the graffiti tour - I really appreciated an art store, we had a few beers in a local bar, we saw excellent views of the city (very different perspective ) We stopped by in art galleries, we ate a tasty local ice cream, we finished the tour by going up to the cable subway of the aurora and eating some street food - hot wings were amazing :)
It was a really amazing immersion experience, it was an amazing tour, I really enjoyed seeing the other side of the inhabitants of commune 13 and knowing their conditions, experiences and stories, it was really shocking and a beautiful experience.
