Save your money! Incredibly over priced. We received a brief 30 minute history of silleteros by a very friendly farmer and got to walk around a small farm house with flowers around it. That’s it. The story was interesting, but not $120 interesting. The drive was longer than the “tour.” The only thing good about this “tour” was our driver Daniel. He was excellent and very informative about the history of parts of Colombia and the surrounding areas to Santa Elena and Medellin. Go to Guatape or paragliding or literally anything else. I feel bad because the farmer was so nice, but this tour was a huge waste of time and money.

Luis Alberto Gómez was an incredible guide who made the whole morning so fun! From pick up, to the ride there, the tour of the flower farm, and the ride back, everything was organized and well planned. I had such a great time, and I hope I get to visit Santa Elena again very soon!!!
It was a very interesting tour. Daniel took us to flower farm that had been in the family for many generations. The owner of the family farm spoke excellent English which was an advantage. But, that’s not the reason for this review. The drive to Santa Elena and the drive back to our hotel each took about one hour. That two hours of talking with Daniel was a highlight of the trip. His English was excellent but most of all his stories about the local culture were very very interesting. If you’re going to go to Santa Elina see if Daniel Pineda can be your tour guide. Of course, he guides many other area tours too.
Thought i was going to see flower fields but learned about the special art of flower decorating that is unique to medellin. Driver was a little late and had to scramble at the last minute to find a home to visit but was good when all said and done
Flower carrier demonstration. Our guide Joe was entertaining, knowledgeable, and warm-hearted. Joaquin, the current owner of the farm, and his wife are so sweet.
Mauricio was a great guide/companion for the day. We had good conversation and a side trip to get arepas and chorizo. It was a very nice day.
Luis was awesome!! He did a great job at translating Spanish to English as I went on the Santa Elena Silleteros tour with my wife and mother. We had a great time! We really enjoyed meeting Don Joaquin who was third generation of Silleteros and his wife. We liked learning about the Silleteros tradition, lifestyle, and history. Additionally, we enjoyed making a silleta and experienced wearing the traditional clothing and carrying the silleta. Luis provided us with a reliable vehicle that had AC which made comfortable ride from Medellin to Santa Elena where is was much cooler. I recommend taking a wind breaker or light jacket as the climate does change at higher elevation. Luis picked us up at my family’s house where we were staying a dropped us off near Comuna 13 were we wanted to walk around and shop. I highly recommend this tour with Luis he as fantastic and we had a great time with our guid Luis. Thank you for a wonderful tour and experience!! 👍🏼👍🏼
It was a great tour. The flower farm was beautiful and the owner was very proud to share the history of his generational trade. The tour guide was also great. The only wish is that it wasn’t so expensive @ $144.
Enjoyed this trip. Visited a flower farm and learned about Stilleteros. Beautiful and informative tour. Our guide, Albert, was amazing. The park was really just a drive through. Altogether about 4 hours.
This tour was so good . The drive to the flower farm was very interesting. Our guide Luis pointed out sights along the way. The views were amazing. The flower farm was so beautiful. The hosts and Luis made sure our visit was extra special. We had a wonderful time and recommend that you do this tour if you love flowers.
The tour guide and he also a driver was terrible. He didn't know the directions. We got lost 4 times on the way there and on the way back. It was my Birthday. I had made a restaurant reservation later in this evening but we all ended up car sick and didn't make it on time to the restaurant. He got lost with driving and took almost 3 hours to get back to Medellin from the farm. Flower farm was just a house with a garden in their yards not a professional farm as we expected. The owner of the house was very nice and sweet.
We had wonderful experience with a wonderful guide. Highly recommend this tour! Was a great time with a friend!
Really cool trip learning about the history of the silleteros with guide David and silletero “Nacho”! Very tranquil place that you don’t want to leave, and having the history explained in English is very helpful. David explains a lot about the history of the area and is knowledgable about all things Medellin - and thanks for the empanada!!
Guide arrived on time. Very friendly interesting and helpful guide who was also our driver. The farmer was very welcoming and gave us a good insight to his flowers and making the displays for the flower festival. Delicious hot chocolate at local village on the way back and home via a great sunset view over Medellin. Would recommend this trip . Lovely peaceful contrast to the city.
So, things did not go as planned. I booked this tour for the day before the Silleteros parade, Mario came to pick me up at my hostal, we drove for a while but discovered that the road to Santa Elena was blocked by the police because of too much traffic. I then suggested to Mario that we improvise an alternative and that he give me a tour of the city. He masterfully adapted to the change of plans and gave me an INCREDIBLE spanish tour of the city center, the cable cars and comuna 13. This man truly knows his stuff, he is also funny and kind. I felt completely comfortable alone with him as a young woman. I learned lots about the transformations of the city, the social problems and the drug war, all the while tasting delicious free food in various establishments he brought me to. 100% would recommend. If you absolutely want to visit Santa Elena however, do not try to go the day before the parade.
I was quite disappointed in this tour. I use the term "tour" loosely as it was an incredibly brief walk on a small plot of land. The guide spoke exclusively in Spanish for about half an hour. It appeared that many of the Spanish speakers in attendance were entertained by the tour guide. There were some very beautiful flowers and photographs available. If this place were close by and only cost $5,oo or $10.00 USD, I might have been pleased, but $120.00 for something so simple and inconvenient (there is only one road leading into and out of the property so it was quite difficult to exit) leaves me feeling foolish for having paid so much for this.
Amazing behind-the-scenes look at the Silletero culture so integral to Medellin's past. Located only 45 minutes above the valley, but a world away. These hard-working farmers still grow the famous flowers that they used to carry into town on their backs. Now, they mostly go via cargo jet to the US and beyond. The responsibility of upholding this unique link to the past is passed down through the generations of the original families. Not to be missed.

Maybe was my fault, but not exactly what i was expecting. photo to left shows a green house full of flowers, but did not see any on tour. Did enjoy learning about the silleteros and the history, but felt that i only saw half of the story. Still, was pleasant and informative. Guide was knowledgeable.

This tour was awesome and especially with our tour guide Elver as he was excellent. I requested an English speaking tour guide and he was great and was also very knowledgeable about the flower farm as well as many other facts and tours of the Medellin area. The farmer Senior Artistidez has been farming beautiful flowers in Santa Elena for almost 50 years and gave us a great tour of his property along with Elver who also knows a lot about them as well. The weather and the flowers were wonderful. I would highly recommend this tour and especially Elver as he is one of the best tour guides I have ever had.

David Dora

This tour was great. We went from the earlier tour we had taken on the zipline adventure to a Santa Elena flower farm. The farmer did not speak English but the tour guide was a great translator. We walked through the jungle on his property and saw a lot of different kinds of flowers. We were given a glass of natural blackberry juice that was fresh squeezed from the berries harvested on his farm. I would highly recommend this tour. At the end, the tour guide stopped in a Mercado in Santa Elena that had been set up for La Feria de las Flores. We had time to walk around and shop a little bit.

The trip was excellent and the tour guide was very knowledgeable and was on time and gave a great tour at a reasonable price. I recommend him too all.

Ronald

If you are Colombian or you are walking in the Antioquian region, passing through Santa Elena is mandatory, making the Silletera tour and knowing the culture and love that all people offer is incalculable, you will have fun , you will see a variety of incredible flowers and enjoy a really delicious gastronomy nearby.
The best experience you can live in Medellin and especially in the region of Santa Elena. The guidance of Yesenia and Andrea de Oasis tur is the best. The Silletera estate of the Londoño family is excellent. Here we saw the process of making the chairs, with passion, much love and art. It is 7th experience to be lived at least once in a lifetime
It was a very positive experience, the friends loved the silletera talk, they learned about the differences of the silletas,
We loved this experience of learning about the preparation of a silletero for its participation in the festival in August. Don Joaquin showed us his crops and then showed us how to prepare and load the silletero of flowers...spectacular! The tour guide, Daniel, made the tour most pleasant for us with his knowledge of topics related to his country, very polite, responsible when driving, respectful, talkative and very friendly. We highly recommend this activity and if it is with Daniel, from Medellin City Services, you will enjoy it more!
Recently I went to the visiting estate to see the elaboration of the chairs I was impressed with the place is beautiful and with a lot of variety of flowers.
