Nelson led us on a very interesting tour. Comfortable car and the private tour was exactly what my wife and I were looking for. Great to learn more about the area and see some things you miss in group tours. Nelson allowed us to take our time and didn’t interfere with our activities once we arrived. Not only was he knowledgeable he was very friendly as well. Great day from pick up to drop off.

There are a lot of stairs but it's totally worth it then when you get to the bottom there are plenty of photo ops and the town is beautiful.

We had an absolutely wonderful day exploring El Peñol and Guatapé! From the beginning, the company communicated with us ahead of time, which made everything very easy and stress-free. Our guide, Nelson, picked us up from our hotel right on time, and we immediately felt comfortable with him. He was incredibly nice, friendly, and easy to talk to. The drive to El Peñol and Guatapé was enjoyable, and we made a stop along the way for breakfast, which was very good. At El Peñol, Nelson gave us about 80 minutes to purchase our tickets, climb to the top, enjoy the incredible views, take plenty of pictures, and come back down. It was the perfect amount of time, and we never felt rushed. After the climb, we had something to drink and continued to Guatapé Pueblo, which was absolutely beautiful! We had some time to explore on our own, and then met up with Nelson again. He gave us even more information about the town, showed us beautiful spots and some of the cutest, colorful zócalos, and even took pictures of us. He was so patient and made sure we had plenty of time to enjoy everything. We never felt rushed at any point during the tour. Later, we had a late lunch, which was really good, and then enjoyed a fun and very informative boat ride. It was a great way to see more of the area and learn about its history. The drive back to Medellín was smooth, and we arrived back without any problems after a fantastic day. We highly recommend this private tour, and especially Nelson! He was knowledgeable, personable, patient, and genuinely made the experience special. Having a private tour allowed us to enjoy the day at our own pace, and Nelson did an excellent job of making sure we got the most out of our visit. I have done this tour before three times but always in a group setting. This time we did a private tour and it was wonderful and gave us more flexibility. Our Tour Guide Don Hector was very knowledgeable punctual on time and attentive. Definitely showed us all the great spots and we enjoyed the tour immensely with him. We would recommend the Tour and the Tour guide.

By far the best guide that I have ever had on a private tour. Andres is an absolutely amazing, genuinely down to earth, calm, kind and eager to help guide. We really bonded well with him on this trip - he is extremely knowledgeable about history, culture of medellin/guatape/colombia and just so much fun. The 7-8hrs we spent with him flew by in jiffy. Some people come into your life with a purpose, and Andres Filipe Giraldo was one of those people. He truly made our Guatapé experience special. From the moment he greeted us, Andres went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable—checking that we had jackets and water, ensuring I had vegetarian options, taking family photos, and sharing local history, culture, and plenty of humor along the way. At El Peñol, he dropped us right at the entrance and made sure we knew where everything was. In Guatapé, when our lunch plans changed because of my dietary restrictions, he quickly arranged an alternative at Kushbu, which was a wonderful plant-based option that I hope tour companies will consider offering to vegetarian and vegan travelers. The petting zoo, El Peñol, Guatapé, and the boat ride were all fantastic, but Andres was the highlight of our day. His warmth, thoughtfulness, humor, and genuine hospitality turned a great tour into a memorable experience. I highly recommend Andres and this tour—you would be lucky to have him as your guide!

Hector was amazing! We had an informative drive to Guatapé. Unfortunately it was raining the whole way there but he used that time to share information about Colombia. He was a wealth of information about the political structure of the country and the history of Colombia. When we arrived at the massive rock, Hector knew everyone from the ticket agent to the parking people. It was a steep but short hike to the top of the rock. Go early to beat the tour busses - it will be worth it. We were up and off the rock before thousands of people arrived. We also were in and out of Guatape before the masses rolled in. It is a such beautiful drive and Hector made it so easy for us! He is so calm, insightful and fun. Ask for Hector - he is the best!

This tour was great! Our tour guide Andres (Andrew) was very knowledgeable and took care of us. We really enjoyed the animal farm after breakfast.

This was a perfectly organized day trip from Medellin to Guatapé. We had plenty of time to see all the sites without feeling rushed. The real star though was our guide, Hector. He is hands down one of the greatest guides we’ve ever had. He was incredibly thoughtful and went out of his way to make sure our day was extra special. We’re so thankful for the opportunity to meet him and explore Colombia together.

This tour was definitely worth it if you’re interested in spending a day in Guatape as it includes so much. Plan for the weather since except for the drive, the entire day is spent outdoors. We climbed the Peñol rock, which was a bit challenging but worth it for the views from the top and everyone can go at their own pace. It costs extra but only about 30,000 pesos. From there, we visited the colorful town for shopping and snacks, and afterwards we had lunch and enjoyed the boat ride. We felt like we experienced just enough for this trip but would definitely come back again. Nelson was our guide and he was fantastic.

Mauricio was our guide and this was the best tour my son and I have been on. He took us all around Medellin and guatape and was a wealth of information. This was an all day tour but incredible the whole time. Definitely take this tour!!!!

The private tour was top notch. Comfortable sprinter van for the ride. Lunch was delicious. Our tour Guide Arturo was awesome. He gave us very detailed information of guatape and the history. We stopped and did the boat tour of the lake surrounding the big rock. Then went to The rock. It's a hard climb to the top but worth it. Ended rhe tour in the town pf guatape which was full of local culture. I highly recommend this private tour. Was well worth the price which wasn't expensive. No complaints at all

We had an amazing experience with our private tour guide Nelson. He taught us so much about the culture and took us to see many amazing places. We toured around the beautifully artistic town of Guatape, a lively boat ride with a combination of recorded and live music and commentary, and a stop at a farm to see llamas, alpacas, ostriches and other animals. 10/10 Highly recommend Nelson for a private tour guide.

Celene and the team were amazing -- we had more than 100 people and it would've been a nightmare to coordinate without them. They were super responsive and helpful with the many questions. Especially for the price you pay, you get so much out of the day; from the rock to a boat tour and llamas, we were out for the entire day. All of us had a great time and would highly recommend Viaja to anyone.

Our guide was Nelson and his wealth of knowledge and tour experience was very apparent. He was able to make the best of challenges beyond his control like rain in Guatape (he drove us around the town and took us to a wonderful cafe until the weather cleared) and extremely heavy traffic returning to the city as it was a national holiday (he knew some shortcuts). The day was extremely varied with an interesting and scenic drive to Guatape, a typical Colombian breakfast and lunch, a climb up La Piedra Del Penol (my wife and I are seniors and took our time so the climb wasn’t a problem), a tour around the beautifully artistic town of Guatape, a lively boat ride with a combination of recorded and live music and commentary, and a stop at a farm to see llamas, alpacas, ostriches and other animals. Nelson seemed to know almost every local person we met along the way and got us free samples at a number of businesses in Guatape. He also planned our meals so we avoided the big tour groups, which we most appreciated. It was a long but satisfying day

We drove to Guatape and climbed to the top, and then the tour continues to the town, which I had no idea was such a tourist attraction in its own right. The tour includes history of the area as well as a beautiful boat ride. It's really a complete package trip. It was much more than I expected, and Andres was fantastic.

Great day trip from Medellin to visit the charming colorful town of Guatape and climbing La Piedra. There were bus loads of tourists but we are so glad we did a private tour. Our guide Sergio Buitrago was amazing! Very professional and so knowledgeable about the history of Colombia and Medellin and Guatape and connecting to other countries. He kept the long drive very interesting by sharing his knowledge with us. The best guide we have ever had!! Breakfast and lunch were included with the tour and both were very good. Afternoon boat ride after lunch was relaxing. Overall, a great day and 5 stars to our guide Sergio Buitrago!!

We booked a private tour so we could visit an alpaca petting farm on the way back from Guatape. Our tour guide, Artur, was so friendly and took really good care of us. He has excellent English and explained everything very clearly. We were very happy with our tour and tour guide and highly recommend Viaja and Artur!

Our tour to Guatape was excellent. Laura gave us an explanation of each sight and we had ample time to enjoy each one. Guatape is one of the most beautiful, unusual towns that we have visited.

This tour was one of the best private tours we've done and my husband and I travel often. The tour guide, Mateo, was great! He customized our trip based on what we were interested in and didn't make extra stops unnecessary. We wanted to try exotic fruits and Colombian rum so he adjusted the tour to fit those. The food we had was very delicious, the boat tour was lovely, the views from the Piedra del Penol are amazing and Guatape is definitely worth the trip. I totally recommend this tour!

We had a great day on our Guatape tour. Our guide Luis was amazing, he truly was an expert guide, driver, and historian on the area. The restaurants were delicious and staff were great. The rock is well worth the climb, the views are amazing! All in all a perfect day.

Guatape is a charming town and Hector helped us find everything we wanted (coffee, empanadas and leather goods). The trip really exceeded our expectations and I would highly recommend this tour company (and Hector!).

Great tour, first time we have been on a private tour and it’s definitely worth it. Nelson our tour guide was great, very informative along the way, friendly and funny. We had just enough time at each stop, the food throughout the day was delicious and we saw the best views. To climb the rock is optional, but I would suggest avoiding in hot weather and if you’re less mobile/fit as it is a difficult climb.
