Private Half Day Medellín City Tour With Comuna 13

The tour was just ok. Nicolai started fine but my friend and I observed he became less interactive towards the middle to end. It was a very hot day and so when his AC began to fail, we were in the back of his van sweating and was not allowed to roll down the back windows because he said they were locked. He could’ve simply unlocked them but didn’t. Also on the way back he began to play music loudly even though my friend wanted to continue discourse with him. He seemed knowledgeable but I’d say there are opportunities to be more customer service oriented (especially with our comfort and dialogue) and a reliable ac in the car. I wouldn’t book again.

It was amazing and fun, David was excellent tour guide, patient, pending of what we need and want, took a lot of nice pictures and very creative.

What a cool way to see Medellín! Our guide was Mateo, and he did a great job explaining different parts of the city, taking us on a trip in a metro cable car, and showing us all around the murals and history of Communa 13. Very cool experience, you’ve got it check it out!

The absolute best service from Carolina coordinating next say booking, fitting in to my stop over time frame, arranging pickup and drop off from the airport, ensuring I have all the ducks in a row with Coronapp and helping avoid curfew limitations! My family and I went on this tour as part of our trip to Colombia. It was an absolutely awesome tour and our tour guide Marcelo was fantastic. He also knows a ton of history regarding the City of Medellin and Comuna 13. I usually try and stay away from guided tours but this one was fantastic. Also, if you love art like I do bring extra money because you will definitely see some original pieces of hand painted art that will floor you!

That is a good trip. However, visiting Medellín is not on my cards anymore. I was walking in Envigado and a policeman kicked muy ankle as i passed two of them. Clearly they looked for trouble. Reported that to the nearest Cía. Was told to wrote out a statement to take to the main police station. When i arrived there, I was told there is no one to take my complaint. I went there early the next morning and got a signed document back. However, nothing happened to the case. I wrote to the office of the Alcalde and was promised that i will get follow up information. That never happened. My opinión is that no one is safe in Medellín. If police can attact citizens. However, comuna 13 is a must to visit in Medellín.

I had a wonderful time with Luis who was my tour guide for the Comuna 13. He spoke very good English and drove well. He had a broad range of knowledge about Medellin. He is passionate about sharing his culture and genuinely cares about me learning about it. He made my experience in Medellin a positive one. He made me feel very comfortable from the beginning to the end of the tour. In one of the previously dangerous place in Colombia, Comuna 13, he ensured that I was safe. I felt at ease touring the neighborhood as he dispeled the negative stereotypes of the area.

We booked a private tour of the city and it ended up being the best tour of our entire trip! They were quick to respond and easy to set up the tour. Caro picked us up at our hotel which made an easy start to the day. She custom tailored the schedule to what was best for our needs. We were traveling as a family of 4, with kids, 12 and 8 years old. She was able to adapt the tour so that it was interesting for both the adults and kids and she was completely flexible in what we wanted to do. She took us to places at the right time, to avoid the crowds. There were just a few other tourists in Comuna 13 when we were there. But as we were leaving, huge crowds of people were coming to the area. It made us feel that we had a very unique experience. However, the best part of the tour was to have a local who grew up in town give us a personal understanding of the city and how it has changed over the years. I would highly recommend this tour company for any tour, you can tell they go above and beyond. Caro even helped us months after our tour by providing information on Colombia for my daughter's school project! Thanks for the amazing tour!

Had a great day with Juan Camilo. picked us up at our hotel right on time, at a time that was convenient for us. The guide had so many good stories and information. Let us take or time exploring and seeing the town. Half day is a perfect amount of time and he took us to other locations including the cable car and Botero square. Worth every penny, 5 stars.

Carolina was absolutely amazing! Communication was fantastic from the very beginning. Her English is incredible and she was just a delight to be around. She knew so much about the city and gave us an informative tour- it was like having a knowledgeable friend give you a tour because she was so much fun. She was patient and kind and encouraged us to move at our own pace. I am currently living in Medellin, but I brought my parents on this tour who were visiting from the US- I couldn’t believe how much I learned about the city where I am living! This tour is a must. Superb. Picked up right on time. Luis was an excellent host for the day. He Knew his stuff, never hurried and very accommodating. My girlfriend and I actually did three tours with this company, which were done by the owner- Luis Gonzalez. I really cannot overstate how great the tours were, especially since Luis was such a great tour guide. He became our best friend for the three days that we spent with him, and really made everything fun. He was focused on helping us to enjoy ourselves as much as possible, and was able to answer every question about Medellin that we asked. Carolina is an amazing person. We really enjoyed the tour because of its flexibility and also because we felt comfortable the whole time and learned about many things. We were picked up at our airbnb right on time then visited the Comuna 13, rode the metro cable and visited the pueblito paisa. We decided to skip the Plaza Botero and instead Carolina recommended us an splendid restaurant where we ended our tour. We were traveling with my girlfriends grandmother and she was very conscious about it keeping always an eye on her. I really recommend this tour!!! Had a great tour of Medellin city with Carolina .. she took us to the botero square in downtown after picking us from our hotel and we spent an hour walking around while she explained the history of the old buildings and the botero sculptures. Then drove to communa 13 where we took the escalators all the way to the top.. she gave us an overview of the area 20 yrs back. Then we had some fruit popsicles and went to cable cars.. finally went to paisa view. All in all had a great day out with her and the kids had fun too.

Super Tours Medellín is the best! Communicating with Carolina and Luis was very easy ahead of the tours and remained so during our time with them. The tour itself was fascinating. We were hungry at the start so Luis took the time to introduce us to the best empanadas and arepas in town. We then made stops at Botero Plaza, a trip on the cable car, the visit to Comuna 13 and a final stop for an amazing over the city. Highly recommended!

Had a great time with Carolina! She was punctual, polite and accommodating. And navigated the trafficked streets with aplomb. Even managed to think quick on her feet when we had to evacuate the tram when it started to rain and lightning, and arranged another means of transportation. She even found a place to buy stamps for a postcard, a first for her! We learned a lot, and had fun. I highly recommend the tour, and especially Carolina!

Highly recommended. We were a family of 6 with 2 seniors and 2 kids. Marcelo, our guide was just outstanding. Informative, very thorough and kept all six of us engaged for 5 hours. He clearly loves his job and his city!

We stayed in Medellin just for one day and Supertours Medellín was able to show us the best of the city. We started our route in the city center where we were able to see the 23 sculptures of Botero. Then we went to Comuna 13, maybe the most vibrant part of the city, with its beautiful graffiti and its amazing people. There was music everywhere! In the afternoon we took the metro cable to see the city from the above to discover how different are the various neighborhood of the Paisa (how Medellín people call the city!). Last but not the least we went to Pueblito Paisa, a small green hill in the middle of the city where is represented the Colombian culture. The city tour was amazing and Carolina even more! I booked this tour while in Colombia two days before we went on it. Immediately after booking the tour the operator contacted us. Like minutes after booking. To confirm a time and our hotel pickup address. Wow. I can not describe in words how great our guide Carolina was and how amazing the tour was as well. From the beginning I explained that my had some issues with mobility and she assured me not to worry she could modify the trip to our pace. She picked us up promptly at our schedule time. It was a private tour just for my mom and I. We set our itinerary and off we went. She took us to comuna 13, pueblito paisa, and la plaza de Botero. She was very knowledgeable. She handled the tour seamlessly. I’m scared of heights and was weary about doing the cable car ride, she pushed me enough that I dared to go and I’m glad I did. We went up one station and we came back down. She modified it so I wouldn’t crap my pants but still got to experience the ride. I love how Carolina tied the past with the new emerging Medellin and I could see how much she cared about her city. This is a great tour at a great price. You are getting a personalized experience for a fraction of the price in other places. One of the best tours I’ve ever taken any where!

I had come across Super Tours Medellin on trip advisor and the awesome reviews convinced me to try it out, and I am so glad I did! Initially I had only planned to do the Guatape private day tour, but last minute I decided to do the Medellin day tour. From the website (linked on TripAdvisor) you can communicate with Carolina using Whatsapp. Carolina replies promptly, and speaks perfect English, and makes it a breeze to coordinate and book everything. Carolina is friendly and knowledgeable, and I would WhatsApp her regularly and ask other general questions about Colombia. This really made us feel a lot more prepared for our trip because we felt like we had a friend who we could also turn too. Carolina's husband Luis is the one who guided us for the 2 days. Both mornings Luis arrived a little bit before the scheduled time to ensure we would have enough time to do everything we wanted. The Medellin day tour is a MUST DO in Colombia. It ended up being the highlight of our trip, and that was thanks to our amazing primo Luis!!! Luis is knowledgeable, welcoming and very friendly. He instantly makes everyone feel like family, and he has great connections with the locals (everywhere we went, people were happy to see him). We started the tour with Botero square, then moved on to the cable cars, Communa 13, and Pueblita Paisa. Luis never rushed us anywhere and allowed us to decide exactly what we wanted to see and how much time we wanted to spend everywhere. He always reminded us "you're the boss!". Communa 13 is a MUST-SEE in Medellin, and I don't think there is a better person than Luis to be your guide. He has a great rapport with the locals and you really get an authentic experience. He also pointed out fun and interesting things (such as places the Maluma music video was shot). Botero Square and the cable cars were also amazing, and offered many gorgeous views of Medellin. One of the things that we loved about Luis was that he was never pushy and never tried to make us buy anything. I've been on many tours before where the guides are only interested in making profit and getting commission, so THANK YOU SO MUCH Luis for actually making it about what we wanted :) The next day we had an evening flight to Cartagena, so Carolina and Luis helped us coordinate the day so we could see everything and still make our flight. We added a visit to a coffee plantation (which I recommend everyone do!!!). It was a gorgeous little family farm, and we got to see and participate in the whole process. We started by planting our own coffee plants, picking fresh beans,and ended with a coffee tasting with the lovely hostess (Laura). Afterwards we headed to Piedra del Penol. Luis dropped us at the bottom and let us take our own time to explore the rock. The rock is 712 steps to the top, and it took us about 35 minutes to get to the top (we did stop several times and go at our own pace). Though it was tiring, the views are STUNNING, and totally worth the 712 steps. DO NOT MISS THIS! Along with the breathtaking views, the top of the rock offers a gift shop and refreshments. Once we were done with the rock, Luis took us to the town of Guatape. Guatape is a beautiful little town, famous for its zocalos (colorfully painted decorated facades).Luis gave us a bit of history everywhere we went and made sure we didnt miss any of the main sights. Once we were done here, Luis took us directly to the airport in time for our flight. This is just a very quick description of our 2 days courtesy of Luis and Carolina. Even though it was only 2 days, we feel like Luis is a part of our family now, and we cant reccomend him and Super Tours Medellin enough! No better way to do Medellin than with Luis and Carolina! We went to Medellín for business and we had a half day free on the last day before heading back to Europe. We booked the private tour on last-minute (2 pax) and Carolina was very helpful by giving us all the practical details. Luis, our guide, is by far one of the best guides you could wish for ! The dynamic of the tour was amazing, his explanations and stories were precise and clear and he made this tour an unforgettable experience ! We visited Medellín’s Downtown, the Metrocable, Pablo Escobar’s neighbourhood, la Comuna 13 and Pueblito Paisa. It was all definitely worth it. The entire experience with this company was top notch and seamless. They were incredibly responsive throughout the booking process. Luis picked us up right on time. He has a deep passion for his city, an impressive command of the English language and a boundless energy. We toured around the city, exploring the square, riding the tram and wandering around district 13. He showed us his favorite Italian restaurant and empanadas and then whisked a tired family to our AirBNB and even helped us check in. He was very sensitive to my 4.5 year old daughter as well going out of his way to make her feel happy and safe. I could go on but the bottom line is that Luis didn’t just tell us about the city, he truly showed us the city and what the people of Medellin are all about by sharing through his fun attitude, grace and kindness. Carolina was amazing! We had 4 in our group, so we fit in the SUV well. This tour is usually max 4 persons since it is an SUV that fits 5 total including your tour guide. It was nice because it felt like you were just out with a friend giving you a tour of their favorite city. Carolina was flexible for anything we wanted to do, but we stuck with the basic schedule really. It did not feel like you were on a strict time line. We were picked up right at our door. We went to Commune 13, which was amazing! Carolina treated us to paletas at a local stop while walking the graffiti area. SOOO GOOD! We rode the metro cable, which was nice with a guide so we could learn about what we were looking at. Plaza Botera was our last stop. Carolina was very nice to take several pictures of our group. She was kind and patient plus full of knowledge. She gave us recommendations for the rest of our trip too! We had a blast.

Let me start off by saying that the communication with Super Tours was excellent before the tour began. They contacted me to confirm and reconfirm prior to the tour. It gave me great confidence in the company. Luis was my guide and he was right on tine. He was very friendly immediately and made me feel comfortable. He even said I could drive the car if I wanted. Lol. The tour moved at my pace and spending the day with Luis did not feel like a tour. It felt like hanging out with a Colombian friend. Luis Restrepo of Super Tours is a very professional guide we have known for a long time and is the ideal contact to repeat. On this occasion he picked us up at the airport very punctual with unmatched kindness. Then he took us to lunch at a typical place called “Los asados de Maria” where we tasted the delicious paisa seasoning. Later he directed us to the “La Palma Viewpoint” A beautiful place in the mountains ideal to wait for the evening of Medellin drinking a hot chocolate , enlivened with music and fire bonfire. Spectacular! The next day a little cloudy we get to know two villages of Antioquia, San Vicente de Ferrer , the white village paisa , with its steep streets and a typical village atmosphere. The sun helped us and we went to Concepción touring this colorful town of typical beautiful houses, there we had lunch in a restaurant “El ranchito “ with natural decorations, plants and small waterfalls, not to mention delicious food and unmatched attention. Next, Luis surprised us by taking us to a phenomenal place “La Cascada Matasanos” wow what a beautiful landscape, three beautiful waterfalls with currents that come down majestically between stones , there we did not bathe and Luis our guide took some spectacular photos, in short we had the most fun . It was our wish not to leave Medellin without visiting the Cristo Paísa , so Luis took us commune 13 to take some nice photos with this majestic monument .We also visited the famous hollow of Medellin and the National Palace places full of shops , art and good food, there we bought some nice shirts from our selection and ended our day at La House Provence watching the game of Colombia and Argentina on preferential table chosen by our guide. This was my first trip to Colombia and I had the time of my life on this trip. Luis was recommended to me by a friend who was guided by him in Colombia in the past.
