Private Guatape Town & Peñol Rock & Llama Farm Tour

We wanted to experience Guatapé on our terms and this private tour offered just that . We were able to choose the order of the activities and how they were done. Our tour Guide Erika was beyond amazing . A few minutes prior to the agreed pick up time we contacted her to indicate that we were heading to the lobby. She was already parked and ready for us . We received the warmest welcome which set a positive tone for the day ahead. Throughout the tour she was amiable , charismatic and informative. We enjoyed it from beginning to end. We appreciated the fact that she exercised patience at each stop . At no point did we feel rushed. She ensured we were hydrated throughout the day and honored our request for a drop off at the mall rather than our hotel . The tour was a 10/10 . I would highly recommended for anyone who prefers private to larger generic group tours. No rush , just vibes and done the way YOU like.

We were so lucky to have Erika as our guide to Guatape and it was a really beautiful experience; not only she is a very kind person but she has so much knowledge, she gave us a lot of interesting informations and facts along the way from Medellin to Giatape. It was all so interesting and pleasant; it was the best day for us. She is very professional, the car was new and clean, and again, it was a pleasure to have her with us exploring and explaining everything in a very interesting way. I definitely recommend this tour and this amazing guide!

We had a fabulous day with Laura - it was both relaxed and interesting - the fruit tasting was a highlight where we got to taste a number of unusual but tasty fruit. The climb was actually easier than I thought and then a lovely tour around the town and lunch !

We booked a private tour for a group of 8 people to visit Guatape. I love that you can choose any start time with a private tour as we had a few people flying in that day and couldn't start at the usual time of 6:30AM for a lot of these other tour companies. Erika was our tour guide and she was such a pleasure. She was very informative (she could answer any question you had), funny and full of energy. She made our tour so much more lively and enjoyable. The van was very comfortable and they were very accommodating, allowing us to enjoy extra time at certain stops if we needed it. I would definitely recommend Medellin Day Trips for your next vacation.

This was the perfect tour! We actually booked last minute (the day before) and they found availability for us. We were picked up at 930 (per our request) and the rest of the day was seamless. Esteban was our guide- thoughtful, knowledge, funny- he made it feel like we had been friends forever! A lot of insider knowledge to local spots and history (I’m obsessed with history). He waited whenever we needed, took all the photos we wanted and even gave us advice on the best local foods close to our hotel. This could not have been better- my husband and I usually to not opt for tours (we like exploring in our own). Esteban made it feel just like that! I can’t say enough good things. Thank you!!

My friend and I booked the private tour because we wanted to be away from the tourist groups. Our guide Andres picked us up on time at the agreed location and we were even able to store our luggage safely in the car in the meantime. On the drive to Guatape, we had a great chat and Andres told us a lot about the region and the rock itself in advance. We had a lot of fun and laughed a lot throughout the day. Andres really took a lot of time for us on the guided tour of the town, catered to our individual wishes and showed us some really good restaurants for food and good cafés. Unfortunately, we had some bad luck with the weather, so we were unable to fly with the paragliders. Andres was in contact with the crew at the flying site the whole time to check the weather conditions. We then very quickly received a refund for the canceled paragliding flight, which we then spontaneously used for a helicopter flight. All in all, it really was an excellent experience, which was 100% down to our guide Andres. Any time again!

Since we’re travelling with our two children (5 and 2) we booked the private Guatapé tour with MedellinDayTrips since it gave us more flexibility and we were lucky enough to have Erika as our guide for the day. She is very knowledgeable and gave us good understanding of the area’s history as well as the country’s development over the past years. Erika also catered for our children and made sure that we also included activities for them during the day. We had the best time during the trip and can only recommend it to anyone looking for an amazing day outside of the city.

We had an amazing time on our tour of El Peñol and Guatapé. Our guide, Diana, was very knowledgeable and cool to hang out with. We learned so much about the local history, fruits and cuisine. Diana was great about explaining everything and checking in to make sure we were getting what we wanted from the tour. I would love to go back and spend even more time in the Guatapé area. We do not usually opt for private tours, but we decided on one to Guatapé for greater flexibility, and were lucky to have Erika as our driver and guide. With a background in psychology and experience volunteering with social service organisations, Erika enjoys working with people and it comes through in her approach. Touring with her felt like being shown around by a dear friend, proud to share her native land. Unlike many guides who love telling tall tales, Erika gave us real facts on many things from Colombia’s social structure and building regulations to the geography of the Guatapé monolith. Parting ways at the end of the day felt like saying goodbye to a friend.

We had a fantastic tour of Guatapé & a Flower Farm with Erika from Medellin Day Tours. This was the second tour in a year that Erika has taken us on. Erika translated the presentation at the flower farm into English to ensure we understood the process that goes into creating a sillatero. The next stop was the Piedra in Guatapé. Since we were traveling with my 80+ year old mom and best friend and knowing that they couldn’t climb the Piedra, Erika arranged for a helicopter ride so they wouldn’t miss out on seeing it and enjoying the spectacular views. Erika also recommended a fantastic place for lunch. The food, the ambiance, and the views were so amazing we can’t wait to go back. It was another glorious day with Erika!

Karen was very kind to us. She was knowledgeable and gaves us ton of information. As a private tour, she was very flexible and change the tour to fulfill our needs or wishes. Karen is the best.

We had Erika for our tour guide to Guatape. This was actually our second tour to guatape but since we were with a friend for the first time, we decided to take it a second time. Erika was more knowledgeable and gave us additional information than the last time we went to guatape with a different tour company. We had an excellent time and really enjoyed a fancy lunch at a resort in the guatape area. Highly recommend the tour and highly recommend Erika as the tour guide. We learned that next time we might just need to stay in guatape for a few days :)

We did this tour with our 3 month old baby, my boyfriend and I. Laura was our tour guide for the day and she was amazing! She was patient when we had to make some stops for the baby. She was fun and knowledgeable. We had a great time on the tour.

This was such a lovely trip that I did with my Fiance. Our guide was Daniel. He picked us up from our hotel in El Poblado and was a wonderful host. Throughout all of our stops (Fruit stand in Penol, Piedra de Penol, and Guatape), we felt like we were given a very personalized experience. We also learned a lot about the different places from our knowledgeable guide. Also, the drive was very comfortable. The landscape around Guatape is gorgeous and the town is very charming, still preserving many of its history. The climb to the top of the Piedra de Penol was tough, but its short, and the view from the top is very worth it. We took plenty of breaks on the way up and it wasn't an issue.

Highlight of the trip. Erika, the tour guide was brilliant and we could not fault her. We had the full authentic experience accompanied by the historical backgrounds of each area. She helped every step of the way and we felt so at ease making out way through the deep history of Colombia. Highly recommend. 10/10

Excellent tour. Everything worked perfect. Schedule impecable and tour vehicule as offered. Days before the tour, we received precise communication from the operator to be ready for the visit. Andres (our tour guide) arrived on time and was patient enough with us. He is a great driver and provided very interesting explanations about all tour details. We returned on time to our hotel. Zero complains. Congratlations. Very recommendable operator.

We were so happy with our knowledgable tour guide Erika exploring a coffee planation that we booked this excursion to Guatape rock and village the following day ... of course with Erika! Exploring a foreign country through the eyes of a knowledgable local guide is the best way to discover its natural beauty, history, artisans, food specialties, etc. Erika is a wonderful (English) communicator, very educated and engaging story teller. Extra bonus: she is an excellent driver, and truly cares that you have a wonderful experience. We highly recommend her for any tour you choose.

The tour covered drive to Guatape rock, fruit tasting, walk through Guatape village and lunch. My guide Erika was amazing telling me about the history of the rock and reservoir as we drove to it. The climb up the rock is fun and provides amazing views of the man made lake. The most enjoyable part of the trip was the walk through Guatape village with its artistic and colourful homes. We had lunch in a beautiful restaurant with views of the reservoir. I also did a fruit tasting with Erika and loved it.

Laura was our guide, and she was the goat 🐐. She was very knowledgeable and personable. You are in good hands if she's taking you. Also, the tour was well-organized in general. We were picked up on time, and there were no communication issues. If you are thinking about visiting Guatape while you're in medallo, I would recommend this tour.
