Andres was truly a highlight of our trip!!! He is so knowledgeable, friendly, funny, and really tailored this tour to what we were interested in and wanted to see. He told us so much about Colombia’s rich history and explained everything very well. His English was amazing as well! He was accommodating when we wanted to go for the exotic fruit tour rather than see the animals and also helped us find a good vegetarian restaurant for lunch. Andres took us to places we would never have been able to see without a local guide and was truly one of the best parts of our trip!

Itinerary
Visit an animal farm and interact and feed them. At this place you find Ostriches, Llamas, Alpacas, Horses, Ponies & Miniature Donkeys, Donkeys & Mules, Cows & "Vacas Paturras", Koi Fish, rabbits and Goats & Little Pigs. We include bags of carrots and fish food to feed them in case you want to do it. It's a beautiful place and very enjoyable for both adults and children. Since our tour is private we can skip this stop and spend more time in the rock or the town or we can do an exotic fruit tasting instead. Since Colombia is the most diverse country in the world in fruit production, as we grow over 430 fruits throughout our territory the exotic fruit tasting is also an interesting activity. This is why we think we should take you to a fruit stand to try some of them. In this short stop we provide you different exotic fruits you probably didn’t even know existed, with intense sour or sweet flavors.
The drive from the fruits to the coffee farm is around 35 minutes but is full of beautiful sceneries of kale plantations, onion, sugar cane, coffee, tomatoes and hundreds of mountains silhouettes. The coffee you enjoy each day has taken a long journey to arrive in your cup, with this complementary tour you get to know this amazing journey in detail. Right before getting to the Guatapé rock we have the opportunity to visit a wonderful coffee plantation which is definitely one of the most authentic tours you can do in Colombia. Between the time coffee beans are planted, picked and purchased, they go through a typical series of steps to bring out their best. The coffee production stages you will see are: • Planting • Picking the ripen beans selectively • Depulping • Fermenting and washing • Drying • Millling • Roasting
After this memorable visit to the coffee farm we continue our journey to the Rock of Guatape (also known as Peñol). As we drive we start telling you all the history of the rock: components, owners, when was it climbed up and more interesting facts. Once we get there you get the chance to climb up it. It’s 749 steps and 50 minutes approximately to go up and down. Once you reach the top, you can stay up there for as long as you wish as you witness one of the most beautiful views you have ever seen. This is not only our opinion but that of thousands of tourists we have taken there. At the top there are several shops where you can buy water, beer and many other items and sit down to appreciate the view of the lake, tiny islands and country houses. Whenever you feel ready to start going down we'll be ready waiting for you to continue our adventure to one of the most colorful towns in the country: Guatape town.
The drive to Guatape from the rock is only 10 to 15 minutes. At this town we take a fully narrated walking tour through the town's landmarks such as the church, main square, remembrance street, Zocalos Square and more. Once the walking tour has concluded we take you to the best restaurant in town to have a traditional delicious lunch (not included in the tour) where you have more than 20 different options to try the local cuisine accompanied of a cold sangria or a craft beer. After we finish our lunch and walking tour in this beautiful Guatape town we head back to Medellin in our comfortable private car with a smile in our faces and full of good memories and probably some gifts for our family back home.

Fantastic Guatapé & coffee farm tour! Sara was an amazing guide — knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and full of energy. She was also just a great person. We enjoyed chatting with her as we drove and everywhere we stopped people were so happy to see her. She knew so much about her country. It was so interesting to listen to her. The coffee farm was such a great experience - so hands on. Highly recommended the tour and if you get Sara, you are super lucky!!
Don’t skip this tour when you visit Medellin! It was a great experience to see something unique outside of the big city, and one of our favorite things we did. Our tour guide Lara was amazing and very knowledgeable. She made everything so comfortable and fun. Since this is a private tour, she gave us options and let us pace our day as we wanted. It was easy to see she loves what she does and created an authentic experience. Highly recommend this tour!
This trip is the perfect day trip to take if you are visiting Medellin, and if you are lucky enough to get Erika as your guide it will be even better. She made the entire day so much fun and also taught us so much along the way. Definitely climb up the rock, it’s a steep climb but very short and the view makes it totally worth it. Also highly recommend adding in a speed boat tour around El Peñol after you climb - it was such a cool way to see the town and learn more about the history. This trip was one of our favorite parts of our entire 2 week trip. Erika was fantastic and so knowledgeable and kept things fun and interesting even though it was a really long day.
Alejandro was fantastic! He picked us up at the airport, took us straight into our tour, and then brought us back to our hotel, which made the whole experience so easy from a transportation standpoint. He was super communicative, thoughtful, and incredibly knowledgeable. He gave us so much historical and cultural context as we went from place to place, which made the tour feel much more meaningful. We were traveling with our infant, and Alejandro went above and beyond to help us get what we needed to keep the baby comfortable—not just during the tour, but for the rest of our trip too. That thoughtfulness really stood out. We would 100% recommend Alejandro. If you can book him, ask for him directly! He’s a fascinating person with an interesting background and clearly loves sharing what he knows.
Really enjoyed this tour. Our guide yuly was such a nice person, very knowledgeable and we enjoyed her company. We tasted fruit we had never tried before in a local market climbed guatape. Explored a beautiful Colombian town. Eat local food over looking the lake and the best experience was last. Visiting a Colombian family growing coffee. The whole trip was great. Colombia is my 92nd visited country. This was a travel day up with the best.
We had an amazing experience. Laura was a fantastic guide. It was perfectly planned and paced and an amazing day trip from Medellin. Highly recommended!!
Yesterday was an absolutely amazing day! First of all, the payment process was super easy and trustworthy, which made everything simple from the beginning. Erica picked us up from our hotel at 7:00 AM in a brand-new EV van. She was incredibly kind and super knowledgeable about everything — from local stories and Colombian culture to actual history. Her English was perfect too! We drove to La Piedra del Peñol, and by 9:00 AM we were already climbing it. Around noon, we visited Guatapé, where Erica showed us around and recommended where to eat some amazing meat and where to buy quality local products, including leather goods. Then came probably my favorite activity of the entire day: visiting a local coffee farm. This wasn’t one of those overly touristy experiences. It was a real, privately owned family farm with its own coffee plantation. We experienced the entire process: a quick introduction to coffee, picking the beans ourselves, cleaning them, separating them, drying them, cleaning them again, packing them, roasting them and, finally, drinking the coffee we had just learned so much about. It was a true 100% hands-on experience with the local family. I don’t want to spoil too much because you really need to experience it yourselves! On the way back, we even made a few quick stops to try some local fruits. It was honestly the perfect Colombian day. I’m Colombian myself, and after seeing my country through this experience, I don’t think I’ve ever felt so proud to be Colombian. My French family absolutely loved it as well. 10/10 stars for the company. 100/10 for Erica. 🇨🇴
Nutshell version: Fantastic day, Erika was awesome, would highly recommend. Extended version: Our guide, Erika, showed up a few minutes earlier than our scheduled time to pick us up. (Which was a good thing) We were trying to reach Guatape before the roads were closed for a cycling competition, so the extra time was useful and made us feel less rushed. Because of the early morning departure time, we were able to get to the monolith in Guatapé before anyone else and essentially had the entire area to ourselves. Erika pointed out a great coffee shop and let us explore on our own. We joined back with her and drove into the town of Guatapé, where we also had the town nearly to ourselves. Most shops were still closed because it was before 10am, so we got to see a lot of the beautiful doors closed before they were opened and less visible. Erika is clearly passionate about the beauty, history, and culture of Guatapé and did an excellent job showing us both the local and tourist sites. She knows many of the shop owners and artists and is on hand to translate if needed. We had to stay in town until the roads re-opened after 2:00, but this was hardly an inconvenience. The views are so beautiful and the town so charming that it's easy to entertain yourself for several hours. After Guatapé, we went to a nearby coffee farm where we were given an education in the life span of coffee from bean to cup. Miller, the owner of the farm, is a skilled craftsman and a very kind host. We really enjoyed our time at the farm and took several bags of coffee with us to share Miller's hard work and high quality coffee with others (and ourselves) back home. All in all, it was a very full and wonderful day. We absolutely loved every aspect of it. Two enthusiastic thumbs us, 11/10 recommend.
Fantastic Guatapé & coffee farm tour! Laura was an amazing guide — knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and full of energy. She made the whole experience fun and interesting. Highly recommended!
We had an absolutely fantastic day on this tour and can highly recommend it! Combining Guatapé with a visit to a coffee farm was the perfect way to experience two highlights of the region in just one day. A huge part of what made the tour so special was our guide, Erika. She was incredibly kind, warm and friendly from the very beginning and made us feel comfortable throughout the entire day. She is also extremely knowledgeable and shared so much interesting information about the region, Colombian culture, coffee production and Guatapé without ever making it feel like a lecture. Everything was well organized, relaxed and personal, and Erika always took the time to answer our questions and adapt the day to us. Thank you, Erika, for such a wonderful day and for making this one of the highlights of our trip to Colombia! We would 100% recommend this tour – and especially Erika as a guide!
We had an excellent experience! We booked Option 1 (Guatapé & Coffee Tour). It was amazing! Our guide, Sara, explained everything very well and is a great professional. We recommend this tour for a pleasant day, because of the experiance and the guide.
Would highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to experience a side of Colombia that many tourists may not see. Our tour guide Erika was wonderful, funny and very knowledgeable. She made sure to make us feel comfortable and we got to see and experience so much. Definitely a highlight and not to be missed.
Our day with Erika was truly amazing! From the very beginning, she was incredibly kind, warm, and attentive. She really listened to what we wanted and adjusted the entire tour to our interests and comfort, which made us feel so well taken care of throughout the day. We started with breakfast, then visited Guatapé, climbed the Rock, and explored the town. One of the best parts was that she didn’t just show us the famous tourist attractions, she also took us to beautiful hidden spots that we would never have found on our own. It made the experience feel very authentic and special. The coffee farm tour and the fruit tasting were also fantastic. Erika explained everything with so much passion and made every part of the experience enjoyable and memorable. Even though we spent around ten hours together, the time flew by. She even helped us organize plans for the next few days and did everything she could to make our stay even better. That level of care was truly above and beyond. Overall, it was honestly one of the best days of our lives, and we are so grateful we got to experience it with Erika. Please let her know how thankful we are, she is an incredible guide, and we couldn’t have asked for a better person to spend the day with. Thank you so much!
What a brilliant day we had with Erika taking our family of four on this great tour. We would highly recommend this tour to see the beautiful Guatape, pick and make coffee and walk up the rock. Erika was very knowledgeable and accommodating she went out of her way to make it a fantastic day. She taught us loads about Colombia and gave us a tour of the music from the country in the car on the way home. Thank you Erika.
We loved this experience. It was a group of 8 of us and Erika was amazing. We tried exotic fruits, went to Guatape, and ended at a coffee farm. Everything was a 10/10 experience but my favorite was the coffee farm it had a very local vibe to it. Definitely recommend to everyone :)
This was an amazing day tour. Our guide Erika was fantastic from the moment of picking us up at the hotel to the very end. She was very knowledgeable, shared so many tips, accommodated our request to come back a bit earlier and generally was a very pleasant company for a day. The tour was also carefully planned and thought through. This is definitely worth the money and time.
It was an amazing experience! Erika showed us Guatapé and a beautiful family owned coffee farm. She is fluent in both English and Spanish. She was a wealth of knowledge and made the entire trip a 10/10 experience. The trip is safe and I would recommend this to everyone. Thank you again Erika, we hope to see you again in the near future.
Erika was a great guide and driver, she was accommodating, knowledgeable, and good company. It was a fun tour of penol and guatape, and a cool opportunity to see and participate in the entire coffee roasting process from planting, picking, processing, and tasting. Fun to try fruits from the region that are not found in other countries.
We had an amazing day with our guide Laura she was timely in her pick up. Very informative and patiently answered all our queries. El Peñol rock was an adventurous activity with gorgeous views from top. Guatape town was very colorful and Laura took us away from the crowds to highlight the important area of the town. Coffee tasting experience was enjoyable for the whole family. Highly recommend activity.
Erika picked us up at our hotel. She arrived early and had a wonderful day planned. We went to this delicious bakery for fresh rolls and then to Peñol Rock. Yes we did climb all 708 steps! The view was amazing from the top! Erika brought us to Guatapé. She recommended a great place for lunch and took us to shopping! She knew all the best places to go. Then off to the coffee plantation. Believe it or not this was the best part. ( I don’t even drink coffee) Lol. It was wonderful to pick coffee beans and learn how coffee is made. Erika was fun, knowledgeable, & kind. We had a wonderful trip.
Our private tour to Guatapé and the coffee estate was the absolute highlight of our trip, thanks to Erika! She is the most knowledgeable and patient guide we have ever met. The tour was perfectly paced—comprehensive and covering all the must-sees without ever feeling rushed. A special shout-out to the immersive coffee estate experience, personally led by the owner. We highly recommend this tour—definitely ask for Erika!
We had an incredible experience touring Guatapé, El Peñol, and a local coffee farm with Erika! From the very beginning, she was welcoming, kind, flexible, and incredibly knowledgeable. The entire day was thoughtfully planned out, and she made sure we got the absolute most out of the experience. Throughout the tour, Erika taught us so much about Colombia’s history, culture, coffee, and local traditions. We visited Guatapé and El Peñol, stopped to taste local fruits, toured a beautiful coffee farm, and she even helped us choose an incredible spot for lunch that ended up being one of our favorite meals of the trip. Every stop felt intentional and well thought out, and she made sure we were comfortable, enjoying ourselves, and had all of our questions answered along the way. We truly had such a wonderful time with Erika and would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Medellín. It was one of the highlights of our trip!
We did the guatape, coffee farm, and fruit tour, and then the comuna 13 tour all with Erika. She was fantastic!!! These tours exceeded our expectations. It was so valuable to do these tours with Erika - she was so kind, warm, knowledgeable and passionate. We gained a much better understanding of Medellín and its history. We cannot recommend these tours and Erika enough, it’s a must if you are visiting!
Sara was amazing, we felt like we were visiting a friend in Medellin. At no point we felt rushed. Sara was making sure we had the best time. We enjoyed this so much that we ended up hiring her for our next day's tour of comina 13. Highly recommend her
Excellent tour hiking the rock, touring Guatape and experiencing the coffee farm, which was our highlight. Daniel was very knowledgeable and super accomodating. Highly recommend!
We had the most incredible Guatapé day trip with Erika and I truly cannot recommend her enough! She arrived early, was extremely informative, and incredibly knowledgeable about everything we saw and experienced throughout the day. There was not a single question she couldn’t answer, and her passion and expertise made the entire trip feel so special and seamless. Erika was also amazing with timing and pacing, making sure we got the most out of every stop without ever feeling rushed. She gave fantastic recommendations for snacks and meals along the way, which made the experience even more memorable. I completely fell in love with Guatapé, and Erika played a huge part in that. This was easily the highlight of our trip. If you’re considering a tour, book with her. You will not regret it!
She showed up 15 minutes early, and on the drive out to Guatapé gave us a really informative overview of recent history of Medellín and of the reservoir that deeply impacted the region around Guatapé when the
Everything was excellent. 10/10. Andrés was very kind, patient, and explained everything about the stone and the coffee farm very well. We were traveling with a baby and Andres was very accommodating with us. The best tour we’ve taken in Colombia.
We had an amazing day with Diana at Guatape. She was such an informative, friendly guide and helped us to navigate there early to beat the crowds and took us to an excellent lunch restaurant. The coffee farm was the highlight of the day! Would highly recommend this tour!!
Such a great experience! Our tour guide Diana was amazing, she was really helpful and attentive with our group of 20. Made this tour super fun for us.
My experience was amazing. Erika is an amazing guide. The weather wasnt on our side. She was prepared for that had umbrellas and ponchos for us. We didnt need to use but it was nice to have. She decided it would be best to climb the rock first then coffee farm then fruit tasting. And it came out perfect. We didnt feel rushed at any moment. The views from on top of Guatape seems like AI with how beautiful it is. Make sure to reward yourself with a beer when you get to the top. We then walked the town, so beautiful! Nice vibrant colors. There is the famous umbrella passage. I loved the way Erika gave us history of Colombia along the way. The coffee farm tour was dope as well. We got to plant our own seed and do the whole process until it is ready to drink. Drinking the coffee at the end was my favorite part. My favorite part of the tour was the exotic fruit stand. We got to try 14 to 16 exotic fruits. Which we all mouth watering. 4 different types of passion fruit, mangosteen, uchuva, drangonfruit (yellow one) prolly my favorite. Everything was so fresh and good. Overall my experience was 10/10. Only because Erika made everything possible. Couldn't thank her enough
This is an excellent tour with plenty to see and experience. The exotic local fruits are a refreshing stop along the way, and climbing the rock at El Penon de Guatape give breathtaking views of the area. Bring your camera. Julie was an excellent guide. She know the area well and told us a great deal about Medellin and Guatape along the way. We also learned so much more about coffee: how it is grown, harvested and processed on an organic farm. I definitely recommend.
Our tour guide, Daniel, was a perfect match for our family of four, with 2 small kids (ages 9, 5). He was sensitive to timing, flexible, and filled with fun stories and anecdotes. His passion for his country is infectious. He took dozens of great photos of us and really contributed to this being an experience that will bring us lifelong memories. We really enjoyed the tour. All of the stops were a real treat and I think all four of us felt like the experience really exceeded our expectations. It's a very full day, and fortunately the car Daniel arrived in was quite comfortable, the girls were able to nap. This is a great tour, highly recommended. Don't hesitate to book.
Loved this tour. It felt very complete and the experience was invaluable. We learned so much. Erika was our tour guide and her English was amazing. I highly recommend you ask for her. If you do get Erika please make sure you tip her well as she deserve it;
I highly recommend Erika as your guide! She made us feel safe and comfortable the entire trip, and her knowledge is impressive. She shared fascinating insights about Colombia and its history, which we loved as big history fans. She answered all of our questions and kept the experience engaging from start to finish. Erika’s positive energy and kindness made the tour unforgettable!
We had a private tour with Henry today and had a wonderful experience. He took us to all of the highlights and let us go at our own pace all day. Highly recommend booking with this company. Well worth it in terms of organization, professionalism, and positive attitudes. Would book again with Henry and this tour company.
Cannot recommend enough!!! We had Sara as our guide and she was amazing. The best energy and spirit, so knowledgeable about everything and was able to teach us so much about Colombian culture, nature, coffee etc. loved Sarah and the tour, best way to see Guatape.
The tour went above and beyond our expectations. Sara was not only knowledgeable but embodied contagious energy that made the tour so enjoyable! I went with my beautiful girlfriend on this day tour and we both agreed it was the most fun day we have ever had. Sara helped us understand the culture, geography, economy, and history of Colombia. Thank you Sara!

We had a fantastic time on our tour from Medellín to Guatape! The fruit tasting was really fun and the coffee plantation tour was the best I’ve ever done. It was hands on, and you really got to be a part of the experience before tasting the coffee. Guatape is definitely worth seeing if you are staying in Medellín—the town is so cute and colorful. Our guide, Yuly, was so kind and informative. She was very accommodating and gave us a lot of great information about the area.
We loved our day with Sara, exploring Guatapé, El Peñol, learning about coffee farming, and getting our first taste of insane Colombian fruits. She knows everything about everything, her English is excellent, and she was truly a fun and interesting person to spend the day with. We’ve done lots of tours and this was an excellent one - an efficient way of seeing and learning a lot, without being rushed. Thank you Sara!!

This full day combo tour was a highlight of our trip to Colombia. Erika was a wonderful tour guide—very knowledgeable, friendly & helpful! We really enjoyed all stops. El Penol Rock and the views were amazing, Guatape was incredibly charming, and the coffee farm experience was educational & delicious! We had our 5 month old grandson with us, and Erika was amazing with him. If you have a day to spend exploring this beautiful area, we highly recommend this tour. We can’t wait to come back with our entire family in the future.
Our guide Erika was better than we could have imagined! She made the long drive to Guatapé extremely enjoyable just through conversation and by teaching us about the history of things that we passed and Medellín. She was happy to answer any question we thought of. And the activities themselves qere wonderful and she was able to provide excellent context and backstory. She does plenty of tours in the area, I wouldn't hesitate booking one of them knowing that she would be the guide.
Absolutely memorable experience from the beginning to the end, Diana our amazing tour guide made sure we had a blast!!! Diana was so attentive, knowledgeable, answering all our questions regarding history, culture, nature, food, politics, economy, it didn’t matter she always enlightened us!!! We travelled around one hour and forty minutes to El Penol in a comfortable Van early in the morning to beat the crowds, climbing 749 steps to the top so worthwhile to admire the views, incredible!!! We went to Guatape town and scroll around this vibrant place doing some shopping with plenty of time, followed by a terrific typical Colombian Paisa food with sangria, simply delish😋 It was life changing to experience Mr. Miller's passion at his coffee farm, La Riviera, where we had an absolute blast collecting coffee beans and walking through the elaborate process of creating his glorious coffee 😋. We finished our wonderful experience with a visit to the Market where Diana let us taste so many different fruits from the area, amazing!! My family had such an incredible time from my 85 yo mother to my youngest daughter 21 yo, so much fun, highly recommend this tour with the best tour guide in Colombia Diana and Jason our amazing driver, do not miss 🤗🇨🇴🇨🇴💕💕
