Itinerary
After we pick you up at your place we are heading south of Medellin. In this beautiful colorful and colonial city we visit different food stands just to pick the best ones to try out. Our first snack is the Chocolo Arepa. We are going to try the Chocolo arepa, which is a different type than the most common arepa, the white Arepa that you probably tried already. Chocolo Arepa is sweeter and has a different taste compared to the regular one, also more difficult to find in supermarkets. Some of our guests find the Chocolo Arepa similar to the Pancake, let's see what you think when you try it. Our second snack is a buñuelo: A fried dough ball. This snack is popular in many other countries but all of them have their own version of it. Our Buñuelo is made with cheese and the surface is usually crunchy, very common throughout the year but specially on christmas time. The place where we are going to try our Buñuelo is very traditional and makes huge and the most delicious ones.
What kind of food tour in Medellin would be this one if you don't get to try what we drink at parties and celebrations? Our next stop will be to try a sip of Aguardiente our traditional alcohol made from anise seeds. Since colonial times the Aguardiente has been part of our tradition and celebrations. Medellin's own “Aguardiente Antioqueño” has won several awards thanks to its quality and taste, that’s why we feel confident that you are going to like it. To make this drinking experience even more exciting you will try it in a place full of customary taverns in Medellin, where the Aguardiente has been traditionally drunk: Fondas Paisas. To help wash down the Aguardiente we will have our next snack: Empanada. Empanadas are a mold of pastry filled with potatoes or rice and ground meat, usually fried. We normally eat them with “salsa rosada” (pink sauce, a combination between mayonnaise and ketchup) or “ají”, a local spicy sauce. We´ll provide 4 different sauces to try them out.
After the empanada we are going to try a very particular piece of meat, it is a delicious and addictive spicy sausage that we call "Butifarra". However, people think that is an acquired taste, let's see what you think when you try it!! Our final destination is one of the most magical places in this city. It's a coffee farm owned by the most gracious and kindest farmers where we are going to try authentic and mind-blowing home made food.
At this farm we won’t only going to try these delicious treats but we will also get to try a local specialty: Colombian beer mixed with a soda drink called “Colombiana”, what’s more local than that? Locals call it Refajo and it's totally worth the shot as it is refreshing and not as bitter as a regular beer. But what kind of food tour this would be without trying a traditional dessert? Well, we are giving you a very special one, it´s all grown in the farm and it consists in: ripe plantain, guava and melting cheese, this would be the perfect way to stop eating for this amazing night. We are having a unique product only found at this farm, the COFFEE TEA. The coffee Tea is a product we are developing, it has an amazing taste different than coffee, take the tour and find out the fruity notes. The vibe of this place is amazing, the view over the city from there make it the perfect final stop of this memorable foodie experience.

Sara is absolutely incredible! We had the best time. She was so knowledgeable and kind to us. The food was wonderful and the experience was absolutely amazing! The empanadas were INCREDIBLE. We also got to learn a lot about Colombian history and the surrounding area of Medellin. What truly sets this tour apart, is you get to see an authentic Colombian evening walking around town, trying incredible food, with an excellent guide!
Sara was an amazing guide! She knew so much about the culture and history and took us to the best food spots! I would recommend this tour with Sara with friends and family!
Loveeeeeed our tour guide… such a sweetheart, she knew alot about the food and the empanadas were to die for, 10/10
Absolutely amazing experience! Ericka was incredible from start to finish — so friendly, knowledgeable, and made the entire tour so much fun. The food was delicious at every stop, but honestly, she was what made the experience truly special. We left completely full and already talking about coming back to try more tours. Definitely come hungry because there is plenty of amazing food! Highly recommend!
So fun. Got to see a great little town with very colorful scenery. Food choices were great. Our guide, Laura, was absolutely amazing. She shared a lot of local information and was fun! She was so easy to be with and the conversation never faultered. The food choices were amazing. Really was great to get out of the tourist regular spots and see local culture!
My wife and I had a fantastic experience with Sara as our guide. She picked us up at our hotel and took us to a local market to try exotic Colombian fruit. We had never tasted anything like it. We then headed to Sabaneta, a very charming part of Greater Medellin. We went to several small restaurants and tried various types of Colombian food. It was delicious and we felt fine the next day! However, the real highlight of the tour was Sara’s knowledge and engaging, friendly personality. She shared insights about history, culture, local life and even local plants. Thank you, Sara, for a truly memorable day. We look forward to our next tour with you.
Great experience. Received confirmation prior to the tour date and updates in the day of as there was a slight delay due to traffic. Very good communication.!!! The tour was informative and there was plenty of food and drink. Andres made accommodations for some of the food preferences of our group and really went out of his way to give us a great experience!!! It wad nice to get out of the city and see how locals live. We had a great time and highly recommend the tour!!!
We just completed a Private Medellin Food Tour with Erica as our guide. We had an absolutely amazing time with Erica. Her english was perfect, she had a great sense of humor, and was able to provide us full details snd history about the food we sampled. She was also willing to share some of here family history so we had a better understanding of the culture here in Colombia. Would highly recommend.
We thoroughly enjoyed the food tour and Ericka was a total blast. We had so many laughs and she was very informative. You couldn’t have picked a better person to guide us 4 as we got along just fine right from the first introduction to us saying good bye.
Sara was great, it was really nice to get away from the touristy areas and hang out in the neighborhood and eat local food. Sara did a great job with explanations and context for the area and Colombia in general
Erika was an absolutely amazing tour guide! She is incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, caring, and full of energy—it was clear she truly loves what she does. The city tour was fascinating, and the food tour in Sabaneta that followed was fantastic and truly authentic. We got to try so many local favorites, from chocolo, crispy bunuelos and empanadas (which were seriously to die for) to morcilla sausages and refreshing sugarcane juice. Every stop felt thoughtfully chosen, and Erika made the experience both fun and meaningful. This was easily a highlight of our trip, and I highly recommend Medellin Day trips! Excellent service & attention to detail.
Very interactive tour. English speaking guide. Our tour guide Erika was excellent and very informative.
Wow Erika gave us the best tour! She was so accommodating to one of us being vegetarian and made sure to find alternatives everywhere. She explained the food and the culture along the way. She also gave us lots of tips for the rest of the trip, such as restaurants in our area to visit and which tours to take. The food was also amazing! So much food. Definitely don’t eat before.
Our private food tour with Erika was amazing! We booked it for our first night in Medellín, and it was an excellent introduction to the city, its people, and its cuisine. We had a variety of delicious local foods, including some of the most amazing arepas with cheese, buñuelos, empanadas, tasty sausages, and so much more! If she asks you if you want to try the limonada de coco, make sure to answer yes! Erika herself was an absolute pleasure to be around. Warm and joyful, she made us feel instantly welcome in Colombia. Can't recommend enough!
Andres is very knowledgeable about his country. He took us to some of the best local places around. The food offered was excellent and truly authentic. He takes his time and explains not only how the food is made but also about the surrounding area you would walk through. He is very hospitable and makes you feel right at home. Would definitely use Andres again for another tour. 100/100
Erika was a fantastic tour guide! Very knowledgeable and pleasant. We ate a lot of delicious food and explored different areas. Lots of great photos and memories.
Absolutely wonderful experience! The guide Laura picked us up and took us to one of the most beautiful areas of Medellín! There we sampled a number of absolutely delicious dishes. While on this tour we learned about the different areas of Medellín, food characteristics and had generally excellent conversations! We have taken three different tours on this trip and this was by far the best! No rushing from place to place,j just an excellent culinary experience in an absolutely fabulous setting! I would definitely recommend this to friends and families, you will find something delicious for everyone!
We had a great day! Laura was an excellent tour guide and gave us lots of tips. We enjoyed all of the food and returned not hungry at all. We enjoyed the intamcy of the one-on-one tour.
Laura was kind and personable. We really enjoyed her company for the food tour. We would highly recommend! It was great taste of Columbia.
This was a really fun tour. Erika was great. She picked us up from our hotel as schedule and we headed out to Sabaneta for a night of tastings. It was a rainy night, unfortunately, but she provided umbrellas (she did warn us ahead of time that it might be wet and to consider dressing for it). We stopped at multiple restaurants/food stands and sampled a LOT of food. There was always the offer of seconds but honestly, the two of us couldn't finish the final meal which we split. If you'd like to get a real taste of Columbian street food and local food. this tour is highly recommended. Erika was a great guide!
Woah! From start to finish the trip was amazing. We got to learn a lot about the history of Colombia and Medellin from our wonderful guide Andres. He was so patient and answered all of our questions. He took us to a lovely area where we tried fresh and flavorful foods. Everything was freshly prepared and amazing.! My favorite was the empanada! It was the best I have ever had. Come hungry because it is a lot of food that you try. I am so happy I did this. It was the best food I have had in Medellin.
Erika did an awesome job giving myself and my fiance a tour around Sabonetta to try all the delicious foods Colombia has to offer. Erika was knowledgeable, and a lot of fun to have as a guide!
Erika was an awesome guide. She knew all the best spots to try traditional Colombian food and was very friendly. Sabaneta is such a cool, local spot. It was awesome to do something off the beaten path and live like locals! I am so impressed with this tour company after booking three tours with them, and would recommend to anyone traveling to Colombia!
Laura was our foodie guide for the evening and did an amazing job! She gave us a great insight into the food, culture and customs. Laura very open and answered all our questions. The highlights were the coconut lemonade at Distri Chocolo and the Empanadas at formula 1.
Erika was a great host and it was amazing getting to explore a place we wouldn’t have otherwise gone. Not to mention the food was all amazing
We had a great time eating so many different foods, especially the exotic fruits! Though the empanadas were our favorite! Our guide, Erika was so much fun and very knowledgeable not only about the food!
Food was delicious, especially the empanadas! Our tour guide was not only knowledgeable about the food but also of Medellin!
Erika was amazing and very knowledgeable about the food, culture and history of the area. She hooked us up with delicious bites that kept us full and satisfied but also made sure we had a great time! She even went out of her way tp send a video after the tour pf the nearest convenience store after we mentioned looking for one. 10 out of 10... would recommend!
The food tour in Medellín, with Erika, my tour guide, was fantasic. We went to several delicious restaurants and food trucks in a delightful neighborhood in Medellín. The food was great, and Erika was fun to travel with and loved sharing her delight in the food and her knowledge of the city. I will recommend her to my friends.
Erika was amazing! We have been raving about it since the moment we finished. She took into account our food preferences with parts of the tour and made us feel as if we were just hanging out with a really knowledgeable friend.
Excellent tour guide Laura! The places she selected and food options were great! My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed! Would highly recommend.
Laura had good explanations and stories. Loved having a private tour at my own pace at this time of my life. One of the highlights of my trip to Columbia.
Erika was amazing. She provided so many fun facts about food, Medellin, and the surrounding towns we visited. Very knowledgeable and most of all fun. I really enjoyed all of the food and fruit. Come hungry!
She is a wonderful ambassador for Columbia and Medellin! She was very engaging and informative. We were able to experience local neighborhoods and foods that we would’ve not seen. I would definitely recommend!
I absolutely loved this whole experience. Our wonderful tour guide, Erika, picked us up at our hotel and drove us about 30 minutes away to try delicious, fresh, and authentic Colombian cuisine: Arepa de chocolo Buñuelo Aguardiente ( sugar cane and licorice) Guarapo ( Sugar cane and lemon ) Butifarra Empanada Refajo ( Cola & pola) ( Colombiana and beer ) Picada ( pork belly, sausage, blood sausage, patacón and arepa ). I saved my appetite for the day and didn't think of would have enough food to eat, however, I was very full at the end and could barely eat our last meal. Erika was very informative, kind, and compassionate. She went the extra mile for my friend who wasn't feeling well and took her to the pharmacy for medication. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and I highly recommend this toir when visiting the area.
Erika was so great! She has so much knowledge not only about the food but also about colombian people and culture. She went above and beyond by making sure we were having a great time and always kept us in the loop with everything we tried and the places we went to.
We did the fruit and food tour with Laura and it was excellent. Laura was extremely friendly and was able to give a history of the city as she drove us through the different neighborhoods. We were provided a great selection of the cuisine in Medellin, and ate at very local spots; everything was delicious. And because we did this our first day in Colombia, we were able to find and eat more of the foods Laura introduced us to throughout our time in the country. Thank you Laura! Would highly recommend this tour.
Erika did a great job as our tour guide on the food tour. She was always making sure we were getting enough - make sure you are hungry before you start! We sampled a wide variety of Colombian food and drink. Erika was also good at pointing out other things to do while in Medellin.
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 We had the absolute pleasure of joining Andrés on a food tour that we will never forget! His knowledge of local delicacies, especially the empanadas and exotic fruits, was outstanding. Each bite was a new adventure for our taste buds. Andrés's English was impeccable, making the tour incredibly accessible and enjoyable. His sweet and engaging personality made us feel welcome and at ease from the very start. He went above and beyond to ensure we had an amazing experience, sharing fascinating stories and insights about the food and culture. If you're looking for an unforgettable culinary journey with a friendly and knowledgeable guide, look no further than Andrés. Thank you for an amazing tour, Andrés!
This food tour was a great start to our trip as it covered a lot of the foods and drinks that we came across often while visiting Colombia. It also introduced me to one of my new favorite fruits; lulo! Sara was friendly, knowledgeable and an amazing guide and was happy to tell us all about Medellín and the surrounding areas beyond just the food. Definitely worth it!
This tour was one of the highlights of our trip. Sara, our tour guide, was amazing. She shared a lot history about the city and answered all our questions. The foods we got to try were amazing. We were full, but satisfied by the way end. I highly recommended doing this tour. The tour company has excellent guides.
We did the food tour with Medellín Day Trips and our guide was Laura. She was excellent, professional, funny and took us to the best local eateries. We enjoyed every bit of the food and learned about them and neighbouring areas. This tour also equipped us to know what the foods were called, made of, how they tasted and go explore on our own for the remaining of the trip. My personal fav was the chocola arepa shop she took us. Hands down it was the best chocola arepa I had of all the places we visited in Columbia. Highly suggest Laura as your next tour guide. She’s the best (and she is well versed in both Spanish and English).
Great tour and learned a lot about Colombian history and culture. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and proud to share about Colombian culture.
Erika was so delightful. She picked me up and understood exactly what I wanted to do and my dietary restrictions, and catered to eat. We packed in so many native fruits, I lost count. I ate like a Paisa and enjoyed the outing. Tons of fun facts packed in tour. Treat yourself by treating your stomach to a culinary adventure.
Wonderful food + a great cultural experience as well. Sara was super informative and knowledgeable of the Medellín region and its history. She did a wonderful job of explaining everything in English and we enjoyed all of the food spots she picked for us. Our tour earlier in the day was running behind schedule and she was very accommodating and waited 30 minutes for us since it was a private tour so that we could still do everything. Absolutely worth doing and I highly recommend booking on a weekend evening as it was super cool to see the town square all set up for the weekend market.
Highly recommend Sara for this tour and food tasting. It was a really enjoyable evening. Having her local/historic stories made all the difference, its very clear she is a super-local, knowing everyone along the tour. Perfect English and so many stories to give depth and texture to Medellin and the surrounding towns. Oh and some really delicious food. Full and unencumbered recommendation!
Laura is a fantastic tour guide. She was so much fun and personable! Do not eat before the tour, there is so much delicious food that you will want to try. You will not go hungry.

Thank you Erika we loved our time and will be sure to recommend your services to our friends and family highly recommend!!!
We had a great time on this walking food tour. There was a special festival that was occurring that day so the company messaged to rearrange the time so that we could have the best experience. Sara picked us up and was fun, energetic, and professional. The places we went to taste the food were all so good. True authentic Colombian food and flavors. I loved that Sara was a true local- it made the tour even better!
