Wonderful experience from start to finish! Alejo is an amazing guide—knowledgeable, friendly, and engaging. Diana is so sweet, and her garden is absolutely beautiful. Venus, their adorable dog, added an extra-special touch. Everything was thoughtfully arranged, and the entire experience was simply perfect. Highly recommend!
We had so much fun learning about the art and we especially enjoyed spending time with our guide and the owner. Loved exploring the garden/farm.
Really great day at the flower farm with ericka and Diana. Fun for solo travelers and weather was perfect. Really interesting to learn history and see the beautiful place! Highly recommend!
I always prefer to do smaller, intimate cultural experiences to learn about traditions. This is such a beautiful property the owners created, all on their own over 27 years of owning the land. Truly a labor of love They designed the flower areas, walkways, cute inspirational signs. They live on the property so it is very nice of them to open it to visitors. They grow the flowers they use to make the silletas for the flower festival parade every August. They have won many awards for their designs, sooo talented and detailed! Highly recommend visiting this family to learn all about the history behind the tradition, what it represents and get to help make one yourself. Also don’t miss the chance to carry it on your back to really understand what it was like to cart goods for miles, often in the dark holding a candle in a tin can to light your way home.
Our guide, Erika, sent us a message prior to our trip letting us know what to plan for and indicated we should be prepared to have a blast. She was absolutely correct. We had a blast! Erika is a fabulous guide. She taught us so much about Medellin. It’s culture, people, and history. She loves her city and it comes through in her thorough, thoughtful, and enthusiastic explanations of all things — even answers to our silly questions. The flower tour itself was amazing. The farm is beautiful and the family welcoming. Learning about the history of flowers and the annual flower festival was entertaining and so so interesting. The woman from the farm was so enthusiastic and vivid in her explanations that I felt like I understood what she was saying even though I did not understand Spanish. It made us want to come back for the flower festival. All in all a fabulous trip!!
This tour made me deeply understand for Famous Medellin Flower Festival’s history.Learning history and traditional and experience for making Sillents were exciting experiences. My guide Sarah is not only imformative but also passionate to show Colombian farm culture. So now I can understand Colombian ways of life. Thanks!
We were 8 people, 4 adults and 4 kids ages 10-12, and had a fantastic time with Alejandro on the flower farm tour. Alejandro was friendly, easy to speak with, knowledgeable and local to the area near Santa Elena. The farm we visited was beautiful, quaint and so clean. It had a very authentic family feel and was definitely not a churn and burn tourist attraction. The owner took her time w us and even let the kids hold a baby chick. Everyone loved hearing the stories of the stilletos, and making and carrying the pack! The only bummer was the cable car across parq arvi was closed for maintenance that day so we were unable to do that part of the tour. But, Alejandro found us a great ice cream and snack place to make up for it ! Mauricio our driver was also fantastic. They both went above and beyond and delivered a glasses case to the hotel when we realized it was left on the van. Alejandro also gave us some recommendations around Medellin. Highly recommend these guys- they were awesome. Thank you so much !
Laura was a wonderful tour guide. She made all the difference with her knowledge and history telling skills while my wife and I toured comuna 13 as well as her overall kindness and professionalism. Also, a great tejo player! So much fun. Highly recommend.
This tour was a lot of fun for our whole family (3 kids ranging in age from 3 to 9). Erika, our guide, was so kind, informative and helpful. She tailored the tour every step of the way to what worked for our family and was always mindful of how the kids were doing. It made a huge difference; she was patient, flexible and fun - the kids enjoyed being with her. The artwork and community in Comuna 13 was fascinating to see & appreciate - the kids also enjoyed the slides & escalators. It did get pretty crowded as we were leaving, so we were glad that Erika took us early in the morning. Playing tejo will be a definite highlight of our trip - we all loved it; especially the kids (we modified the rules for them a bit). They had so much fun and we had lots of laughs - we recommend it!!
Love the tour of Comuna 13 and our private guide Erika was fabulous! Learned so much history and was able to really be immersed in the community by meeting local artists, witnessing street performers, and taking in the sights was truly amazing. One of the best tours I’ve taken.
Great tour, really enjoyed it and learned a lot about Medellin and Colombia in the process. We were with kids (8&4) and they really enjoyed it too. Was also easy to arrange with next day pick up at our hotel. Would recommend.
This Comuna 13 Graffiti tour has given me valuable insights in the troubled past of these ever-expanding San Javier neighbourhoods and it has taught me about the positive changes and the blossoming seeds of hope for a better future for these people. My guide Daniel was very knowledgeable about the history and the current positive evolution forward of this comuna. He is also a great person who shares his mind, insights and heart, which is invaluable. We also went off the beaten touristic path for a while, wandering around in what we could describe as dire living circumstances, which allowed me to expand my mind about a raw reality that was abstract to me. Thank you very much for this highly recommendable experience. My excursions with Andres and his team have provided me with so many unforgettable memories. Not only are they highly proficient in everything they do, they really put their minds, and even more importantly, their hearts into it, which makes all the difference. Communication is always so easy, warm and kind. It has been a distinct pleasure to have been able to experience some of the marvellous sights Medellín (and its surroundings) has to offer, with them by my side. I'm already looking forward to going on new adventures with them, next time I'm in Medellín. (I even registered an account on Tripadvisor, just so I could write the reviews they deserve)
Sara was super explane everything very good and have take the time to make it a super nice day Thanks for a wonderfull the . And for sure till the next time
Amazing city tour of Medellin! Medellin day trips completely exceeded my expectations. I was greeted by Erika at my hotel. Erika was prompt and super smart and courteous and fun! I felt like I was hanging out with a girlfriend all the while exploring the beautiful city of Medellin. We covered all of the major highlights and I learned so much about Medellin in one day. I highly recommend this tour, I promise you will not be disappointed.
We had an amazing experience with Medellin day trips . Our three guides Diana , Alejandro and Andres were amazing . They made sure our group of 8 had an unforgettable trip and we enjoyed every minute of all our tours . I highly recommend them and I will definitely be using them again when I come back!
We had an amazing time on this trip. We were a family of 5 (three kids under 10) and went on the graffiti tour and then also did a hike outside of town. The tour guide was friendly and great with the kids. Highly recommend!
Henry was a fantastic guide! My Spanish is not very good, but he was also fluent in English, which made everything simple. I was picked up right on time from the lobby in my hotel. He was very knowledgeable on the history of La Comuna 13 and it was obvious he knew his way around very well. The locals were also friendly and welcoming. I opted for the early pickup (7am). I’m glad I did, as there were no crowds or lines to deal with. We were able to casually stroll through the community without feeling rushed to take pictures or skip over anything.
We did the Flower Farm + Guatape Rock & Colorful Town Tour and it was such a treat! Our tour guide's name was Erika and she picked us up in Sabaneta. We then drove to Santa Helena to a GORGEOUS flower farm. The owners of the farm were such a kind family who welcomed us with open arms. We then drove to El Penol for a quick history lesson and to climb la pierda. Lastly we stopped by El Pueblo de Zocales where Erika handled everything and we were able to go off and explore on our own for a bit. We tried the best chocolate and cotton candy (that she was kind enough to purchase for us). It was an amazing day and it wouldn't have been so great without Erika's kind spirit.
We can’t say enough great things about this experience and this tour company! While most people choose to take long trips to places like Guatapé, we opted for this private tour with MedellinDayTrips which was the best decision of our stay in Columbia. We have kids and this was a great experience for them too. Our guide Andres was top notch and his English was perfect. When planing our trip he anticipated the mass tour groups that would be visiting the farm that day and suggested that we depart earlier so that we could have a private tour of the flower farm. This proved to be an incredible experience as we had a lot of time to learn about the farm and wander at our leisure. This particular farm is very special as the owners are the ones who give the presentations and their love for what they do shines through. The Arvi Park gondola ride was stunning. Andres is extremely knowledgeable and we really enjoyed our time with him. We highly recommend any tour with this company as they are extremely professional, knowledgeable and accommodating.
10/10 what an incredible experience! Sandra and Diana welcomed us kindly. Very helpful and attentive to us. They answered all our questions and more.
Excelente tour guide Diana Ramirez, por su conocimiento de la Comuna 13 y por darnos confianza del area.
Today we were with Diana Ramirez excellent resource, she has a lot of knowledge of the history of Commune 13. Very friendly with the group and gave us confidence.
We spent a very pleasant afternoon visiting Comuna 13. Our guide Diana Ramirez was very friendly, I answered all our questions. It is rating that Diana is well aware of the history of Graffiti and Commune 13. Excellent work Diana, thank you very much.
What a beauty of work the silleteros perform, Mr. Zapata showed us how the silletas are made. He has been a saddle bearer since childhood and the support he uses is that of his grandfather. A wonderful experience.
