This was such a cool experience on a local farm. The hospitality was awesome from start to finish. The company reached out immediately after booking and made sure we knew what was needed to be prepared. **the best part is, the pickup/drop off was at our airbnb**. Henry our tour guide was prompt, very communicative and spoke very good English. He gave us a history lesson on the way to the farm and was with us every step of the way. The family farm were so welcoming and fun. The property was beautiful and had clean restrooms!! BOOK THIS TRIP!!! The coffee is delish and we will remember this trip for a lifetime.

Itinerary
From your hotel we head to the coffee farm in our comfortable private car. Once there, a charming married couple of farmers welcomes us with a delicious cup of coffee. While you are enjoying a nice cup of coffee, the expert gives you an informative introduction into the world of Colombian coffee. Feel free to ask any questions. As you listen and participate of the conversation, we begin to give you the coffee we produce in different brewing methods and then we explain the different flavor notes in each of them, so you learn to differenciate the sour, bitter and sweet characteristics of the coffee. After this very entertaining introduction, we continue with the next activity: planting the coffee seeds in the seedbed as we explain the timeline for each stage when they are growing into a tree. After we have more context we begin the walk around the coffee plantation. Before we do it we provide you buckets, hats and rain boots to do the activity with a proper outfit.
Picking the Coffee Beans We start by picking the beans ourselves as the farmer guides us in the process and provides tips about how they should be picked, how this task is done by women and men alike, wages, lifestyle and everything about coffee pickers. At the end of this activity, we will weight your load to see who did the best job and continue to next step: Depulping, Fermenting and Washing the coffee At this stage the skin is removed leaving the slimy beans apart. Once they have been separated, the beans go through a fermentation process where they will lose their slimy surface (mucilage) and continue to the next stage: Drying the coffee beans The beans need to be completely dry in order to be processed. This process is extremely important to ensure good quality. To do this, there is usually a tent called Marquesina that keeps and increases the heat inside drying the beans faster. This process depends highly on the weather but is usually somewhere between 2 to 6 days.
When the coffee beans are completely dry we need to remove the husk. So we use an artisanal threshing machine to do that. When that process is done, the coffee is called "Green Coffee". This is the stage at which most of the Colombian coffee is exported. However, at the farm the process goes further with the roasting process having 3 different levels depending on your taste. Highly roasted, medium-high and medium. All of them are roasted at 200 degrees Celsius (392 F). The next process is the grinder, where we put the brown roasted beans to grind. The last process is packing the fresh coffee you just processed (which you can buy at the farm for a good price). As a reward for helping us to produce and process our coffee we'll have a delicious snack (included) waiting for you at the table. You will surely have the most authentic experience in Medellin just by learning and enjoying at this coffee farm with its owners. So, why not join us in this fun and informative experience?

Our guide (Sara) was excelent. Very good driver, excelent knowledge and very pleasant person. Very complete tour. Highly recommended.
Highly recommend! Our tour guide (Yuly) was so knowledgeable and friendly, the coffee farm itself is absolutely beautiful, and the overall experience exceeded our expectations.
This tour was amazing! Highly recommended to everyone. You’ll learn a lot, laugh a lot, and enjoy tons. Sara, our guide, was incredible. She is the best at it and knows a lot about everything you may ask. I recommend it to everyone who visits Medellin
Such an amazing must-do experience in Medellin!! We had a free day during our trip and coordinated a last-minute private group tour with Erika, her team, and Marquesina farm. From pick-up to drop-off, everything is very thoughtfully put together and they are so thorough with explaining every step from bean to drink. Erika was so attentive and accommodating to our every need, especially as we kept adding more people who were interested in joining the tour. It was such an immersive and fun experience, in a beautiful local farm and even more beautiful people who are sharing their immense knowledge and culture of coffee in Colombia and uniting together over our shared love for the drink!
Erika was amazing!!! She was both our driver and tour guide. She was so knowledgeable about coffee as well as Medellín! Truly worth it in every way. I would booking again
We had a wonderful time with Laura who was extremly helpful and friendly and very patient with our mixed Spanish/English speaking group, giving explanations in both languages. The coffee farm and the surrounding area is very scenic and the coffee is very tasty, we learned a lot!
Erika took me on the coffee tour and it was fantastic! She is knowledgeable, professional, and hilarious! Great afternoon spent in the hills and would highly recommend 👌🏼 I also used the same company to go paragliding, my guide was Andres and he was equally friendly and helpful. Can't recommend these guys enough!
We had an incredible experience on the Private Coffee Farm Tour! Andres went above and beyond from the very beginning to help get everything arranged for us and made the entire process easy and seamless. We chose to do a private tour, and Alejandro was our guide. He was absolutely amazing—friendly, professional, patient, and incredibly knowledgeable about Colombian coffee, the growing process, and the local culture. He explained everything in a way that was interesting and easy to understand, and you could tell he genuinely enjoys sharing his knowledge. The experience felt authentic and personal rather than overly touristy, which made it even more special. Alejandro made sure we were comfortable, answered all of our questions, and gave us plenty of time to really enjoy the farm and the experience. Between Andres going above and beyond to coordinate everything and Alejandro providing such an outstanding tour, this was easily one of the highlights of our time in Medellín. Highly recommend, especially if you’re able to book the private experience! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The tour was fun and informative. Erika, our guide, was friendly and made the tour even better. Highly recommended.
Erika was absolutely the best guide! She was prompt with the pickup and was easy to talk to. Once we arrived at the coffee farm she put on multiple hats as the translator, photographer, and guide. She is so knowledgeable about the entire coffee process. I’ve already recommended her to a friend who is still there. I’d reach out to her again for further tours in and around Medellin.
I thought I appreciate coffee enough until I did this tour. It is not an easy job to have a good cup of high quality coffee every morning. Alejo was our tour guide, he was very informative. We also tried the beans before and after roasting. The farm has high quality beans which can be both a good gift, self treat or even a good remembrance.
This is a must do while in Medellin !! If you are looking for an authentic local family owned farm where you get hands on experience and see exactly what goes into the coffee bean process look no further ! The entire family was so humble and so welcoming !! Don Antonio is such a humble soul and you can see it and taste it his coffee Lastly our guide, Estaban, was fantastic with his own knowledge of the coffee farms while also giving us some historical context of the city whole driving to the farm There is a reason why this tour gets all the reviews !!!
Laura was great, knowledgeable and ensured I and my family were comfortable throughout the day. She was patient and made sure my two boys were engaged throughout the process. I would highly recommend her and the tour!
Our guide Erika was excellent! The whole experience was educational and fun. Would strongly recommend.
We absolutely enjoyed our Private Coffee Tour with Erika! It was a wonderful and highly interesting experience. No questions about coffee left unanswered. And we also had a lot of fun and laughed often :o) We were very warm welcomed by Antonio himself and his whole family. We learned so many things about coffee: planting, growing, harvesting and - of course - drinking ;o) Thank you, Erika, for making our trip very special with all your knowledge and friendly hospitality.
We had an amazing experience with Don Antonio. It is everything we sought for in a coffee tour. I highly recommend!
Erika my tour guide picked me up at my hotel in a comfortable SUV. We first sampled some amazing street food on the way to the coffee farm just outside of Medellin. We met the owner of the farm Antonio. Erika (who speaks perfect English) first had me sample some of the farm’s amazing coffee using different coffee brewing techniques (fascinating). We then walked up the hill to pick coffee beans off trees and Erika and Antonio showed me how coffee beans are sorted, cleaned, dried and then roasted in the beans we all use. We ended with a wonderful local meal prior to Erika driving me back to the hotel. I highly recommend this tour! Despite drinking coffee almost all my life, I knew little about how the coffee growing world worked and left the tour with more knowledge than most. I bought some beans for friends and family. Erika and Antonio were the best!
Daniel was the F’ing man! He was so chill and helpful and down to earth and a great tour guide in every way.
This tour was so amazing and our tour guide, Laura, was a wealth of knowledge. She was kind and so pleasant to be with. The tour itself was a unique and fun experience. Never in my life did I think that I would pick coffee! And then taste it and see the whole process… it’s a very incredible experience that I’m glad that I didn’t miss. My husband and I really enjoyed “la finca” and Antonio has a beautiful area. All in all, loved it 100%. Private tour with professional people and it was very informative! I would do it again because it was so good!
This was fantastic. The whole experience! The family farm felt so welcoming and safe. The coffee was truly excellent- was shocked at the flavors. Our tour guide, Alejandro (Andres) was knowledgeable and fun and kind. I can’t say enough good things about this coffee farm tour. Just have to do it yourself and see. Perfect duration as well.
Sara was amazing! She explained every part of the trip so well and really let us immerse ourselves in the experience. We learned so much about coffee and how each type of brewing and roasting process changes the flavor. Highly recommend this trip and Sara as your guide!
Great experience from beginning to end. The entire process was explained clearly, and Laura was very knowledgeable, professional, and helpful throughout. I felt comfortable and well taken care of. Highly recommend.
This was the best tour of our holiday , Sara is absolutely lovely and so knowledgeable. The tour itself was so perfect just being myself and my friend , it was like being with family , on top of that we learnt so many things about coffee that we had no idea of
I’d recommend this tour to anyone! Alejandro was extremely knowledgeable about coffee, the history of it in Columbia, and how it’s processed, and we had some really insightful conversations that meant we came away having learnt a lot. The farm we visited was lovely, and of course the coffee itself was incredible. I’d go again!
An absolutely brilliant tour. The expert guide really knew his stuff. The coffee tasting made it even more pleasurable.
This is without doubt the best coffee tour in Medellin. Our guide Alejandro was simply superb.
Daniel was Amazing. He was very knowledgeable about the history of coffee and the farm we visited. We have a new found appreciation for the bean to cup process. Daniel made sure we were safe climbing the mountain and took many candid pictures for us without us asking. I would highly recommend this tour. Bring pants and long sleeves for the hike in the mountain.
AMAZING. I have a new found appreciation for coffee. The details and hand on experiences shared in this tour was very enlightening to the hard work that creating a fine cup of coffee takes. Wear pants and long sleeve shirt to protect from mosquitos.
It was an authentic small coffee farm. Erika our Tour Guide was great, fun and very knowledgeable. .
I have done a lot of viator tours and Sara is one of the best I have ever had. She is knowledgeable, engaging and went above and beyond to ensure we had a good time. Eg she drove us to a grocery store to get alcohol on the way back because it is Ley Seca. I strongly recommend doing this tour and working with Sara. 100% worth the money, time went spent and overall enjoyable. Fyi I do not drink coffee and I actually drank coffee for the first time on this tour. The coffee is that good!
I have been to many tours in my life, Alejandro was without a doubt the best tour guide I have ever had. Whole heartedly recommend.
We had an absolutely amazing coffee tour with Alejandro, truly one of the highlights of our time in Medellín! Alejandro’s English was perfect, which made such a huge difference for us. He explained every aspect of the coffee process in a way that was engaging, easy to understand, and incredibly interesting. You could really feel his passion and deep knowledge throughout the entire experience. What made this tour so special was that Alejandro wasn’t just a coffee guide, he was a guide to Medellín and Colombia as a whole. He had an incredible amount of knowledge about the city, its history, culture, daily life, and even places far outside Medellín. We learned so much beyond just coffee, and every conversation felt insightful and genuine. The whole day was informative, fun, authentic, and unforgettable. If you’re considering a coffee tour in Medellín, do yourself a favor and book with Alejandro. We couldn’t recommend him more highly!
It was a wonderful experience. Sara made me feel really comfortable and gave a detailed tour of the farm. Highly appreciated the tour and would recommend to anyone visiting Medellin
We had a terrific experience with Alejandro! He communicated with us in advance to coordinate pickup and proper attire. At the coffee farm, he worked very effectively with the staff to give us a fantastic introduction to the world of coffee, its growth, different types, flavor profiles, and of course the process from planting to harvesting to washing to drying to roasting to final brew. We were able to sample different variations and use different brewing techniques. We never felt rushed. He took great photos of us at the farm as well! As an added bonus we could practice Spanish with him and the staff. We left with multiple souvenir bags of coffee for friends and family and look forward to our next trip back to Medellín!

My friend & I signed up for this tour on a whim. We were picked up at our hotel, and driven directly to the farm by our guide, Sara, a local Medellín citizen. Sara told us all about the city and unique neighbors as we drove through them, making the series incredibly interesting. Upon arriving at the farm, we met its owner, who was remarkably friendly. We spent hours tasting his families unique and delicious coffees, as well as having the chance to put on a real working outfit (sombrero, authentic cloth poncho, and boots) and pick coffee beans fresh from the vines on the serene heals of Medellín. Our guide, Sara, accompanied us throughout, translating and answering questions and taking pictures of us. After picking the beans, Sara and the owner of the farm took us through each step of the coffee-making process, walking us through all of the farms unique buildings and showing us how each machine worked and WHY it worked, while speaking to the history of the coffee beans and its cultural significance. Never once did it feel like we were rush or in a schedule. It was incredibly relaxed, moved at our pace, and felt like we were guests in their home, rather than tourists. 10/10 tour, 10/10 guide. I couldn’t recommend this experience more!

This tour is a must do if you are in Medellin! Such a wonderful experience from picking us up at our hotel and the entire experience! Daniel was fantastic at explaining everything about the special coffee and the farm and all the history! We would highly recommend this tour!!
Five stars for this private coffee tour and for our guide, Erika, and host, Antonio. We were debating whether to do this and we are so thankful that we did - it was the best part of our Medellin trip. The coffee is excellent, of course, and the setting beautiful but the best part was the company (Erika and Antonio... and the very friendly dogs). We learned so much! We recommend booking through Medellin Day Trips for better pricing and communication. Trip Advisor upped the prices on us last minute, and they're less flexible to work with. Medellin Day Trips was accommodating every step of the way.
We had an amazing experience on this coffee tour! Everything was very well organized, and we learned so much about the entire coffee process- from picking coffee beans ourselves to understanding the different stages of coffee processing and brewing methods. Our tour guide, Erika, was fantastic. She was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and made the whole experience both fun and educational. Everyone at the farm was also very kind and welcoming, and you could really tell they cared about giving visitors a great experience. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Medellin and interested in coffee culture!
We thoroughly enjoyed our tour at the Bosques de la Doctora coffee farm on April 30, 2026 - Sara is an outstanding guide! Warm, effervescent, engaging, & very informative, Sara provided us with an in-depth exposure to the entire process of coffee farming. From seed to seedling to shrub. From cherries to beans to drying to roasting and brewing... every aspect is covered. Also, the "Aborrajao" we were served was delicioso! It's a dish made with ripe plantains, guava paste, & 2 kinds of cheese. It was the single best thing we had to eat on our whole 5 day trip to Colombia. Our time at this Sabaneta “finca” was a rich, full-bodied experience! Thank you Sara, and the entire crew at Bosques de la Doctora.
You get a good understanding of the coffee processing. Now I know how to select good coffee and how to make it
This tour with Medellin Day Trips was an absolute highlight of our time in Medellin, and honestly a must-do if you’re visiting. The farm itself is a real working, family-owned coffee farm just outside Medellin, with some of the most stunning views of the surrounding green hills. We learned the full coffee process in depth — from history and how coffee arrived in Colombia, to cultivation, harvesting, processing, and packaging — and even got to pick beans ourselves and taste a fresh coffee bean, which was unexpectedly sweet. The tastings really stood out too, especially seeing how dramatically brewing methods change the flavor. Everything ended with a simple but perfect dessert of plantains, guava jam, and cheeses. What really made it exceptional, though, was Erica. From the moment we were picked up at our hotel, she made everything feel easy, personal, and genuinely welcoming. She’s warm, incredibly knowledgeable, and clearly passionate. Throughout the drive and the tour itself, she had this natural way of tying everything together which kept the whole experience very personal. If you’re in Medellin, make sure you make time for this tour — and consider yourself lucky if Erica is your guide!
We spent a wonderful morning with our amazing tour guide Sara enjoying and learning about the coffee making process. She was extremely knowledgeable about the small coffee farm we visited, the process of picking coffee beans. Our son prepared coffee in different ways under Sara’s guidance which was the highlight for him. Sara was a professional guide, spoke excellent English and her passion for her job and pride for her country shone through. Thank you for a memorable day, Sara!
Erika was absolutely amazing and the tour could not have been better. Antonio’s farm is a wonderful experience I would recommend to anyone
From start to finish, our experience with Andrés was exceptional. Travelling with a large group is never easy, but he handled it effortlessly — adapting to our size from the moment we were picked up to the time we were dropped back at our hotels. His patience and organization made a huge difference in our experience. The coffee tasting was a highlight I didn't expect. Andrés walked us through different extraction methods with such clarity and passion that even the non-coffee-enthusiasts in our group were hooked. Do not skip on the treat you get to try at the end of your visit. The views while picking coffee beans are absolutely stunning. Don Antonio rounds out the experience perfectly as a warm and attentive host who genuinely wants you to enjoy every moment and share his farm with others. Don't leave without picking up a couple of bags of the farm's coffee or you'll regret it!
We had such an amazing experience at the coffee farm. I not only learned a lot but had so much fun hearing the history of the farm, coffee, and how to actually taste it. Laura was an amazing, engaging guide! This was my favorite experience in Medellin!
This was awesome. Toured with Erica who is now familia. Don’t hesitate book you will love it. So informative as well
We had an amazing experience getting a tour of the coffee farm. Sara was an excellent tour guide, professional, charismatic, and easy to talk to. She made the experience unforgettable. Would highly recommend the tour to anyone visiting Medellin.
