Medellín: Paragliding In The Colombian Andes

It was a cloudy foggy morning so we waited for about an hour for the weather to clear up. Claris our contact on site was very organized. The pilot I flew tandem with was not the best in my opinion. We kept spinning in circles to “gain hight” unsuccessfully and at some point we flew through the fog which was a big concern for me as there were many parachutes in the air and I was terrified we might not see others in the fog/clouds and get tangled with others. The pilot was dismissive about my concerns (valid or not). Note you have to hold the rented GoPro for a bit then the pilot takes over. My pics are so messy. Only a couple of views/background in comparison to my friend who flew with another pilot and got wonderful shots. Again, I’ve done skydiving before and I’m not scared of hights but it was extremely uncomfortable and the flying time was certainly was more than what I signed up for which was 15 min. At the end the pilot took instruction to land in lower area and not return to the platform due to cloud cover around the platform. Note my friend enjoyed every second with another pilot. It could have been me or my pilot why I didn’t enjoy.

Such an amazing and thrilling experience but I still felt completely safe and secure with my pilot. He was professional and good at what he does.

Such an incredible experience! Once we got up to the place, it was great, but just to move, the instructions were a little unclear and the driver (while so lovely!) didn’t speak English and we didn’t know which specific paragliding place we had to go to (there were a few). Also wasn’t super clear what to wear or bring - it’s colder up there so a light sweater is good, and while they recommend not to bring a bag, it’s easy enough to leave something small when you’re up there. And you’ll need cash to rent the go pro, which was really helpful- the pictures turned out great!

Amazing time paragliding with great view! Highly recommend and would do this again. Also the service is very professional and organised. We feel safe and secured and free to enjoy flying in the sky.

At first wife n I were very nervous. Very friendly and experience pilots. Once u are in the air, it is an amazing rush. The view from on top of the mountains is a unique once in a life time experience. So calm n relaxing. Was way easier n less scary 😨 then I thought. Wife who is scare if height, enjoy it. Staff was amazing and friendly. Huge animal lovers. They have a few doggies.

Great experience! I went solo and met a handful of cool, new folks that made the trip even better. Straightforward and professional experience. The bus picked us up in the Parque Lleras neighborhood and took us out to the launch site. You can purchase go pro pics/videos for a low price (which I highly recommend you do). My pilot was friendly and had me at ease the entire time. If you're thinking about it...just do it.

Two of us did this. My friend is severely afraid of heights and even she admitted she would do it again. Amazing experience flying over waterfall and mountainside

It was a great excuse. Very well organised and felt very safe. The take off and landing were well performed. The instructors really know what they are doing. Highly recommend

Overall experience was good 👍🏾 and I had lots of fun 🤩 and our instructor was amazing 😻. We were well looked after by the staff, I would highly recommend the tour. Just note that there are steps to take to walk up to the site to get the equipment out on. It took us about 30-45mins to talk, maybe you’ll be faster 😂

I would've given 5 stars, but we ran into an issue. One of the people with our group rented the gopro, but after her flight, they realized it hadn't recorded. So, they let her fly again. No problem. However, the weather changed and she ended up landing in the city instead of back on the launch pad. Still, no problem. Here's the problem. Instead of taking us down to her, for whatever reason, they made us wait for her to be taxied up the mountain. Mind you, we still had to go down anyway when she got to us. We waited HOURS. There was zero communication while this was going on. Her brother (who did speak Spanish and tried to communicate with the driver) got nothing. The driver told us 5 more minutes many times. What started out as a perfect experience turned so quickly. Things happen. But the lack of communication was inexcusable. At the very least, we could've been offered a partial refund. Many in our group had other things planned that afternoon that they missed due to the wait. Again, I have no idea why we waited.

I did the paragliding tour which was great and the graffiti walking tour straight after. Since I was late coming back from paragliding Julia rang me while on the way back to tell me to get off the bus and meet the rest of the group so I wouldn’t miss out. She gave me exact directions and instructions on what to do how to get the train and where and stayed online on WhatsApp until I was reunited. Made me feel very safe and comfortable in a city I’m not familiar with! And the tour itself was excellent too. Laura is very passionate and knowledgeable and kept checking up on me since I felt sick while paragliding which was also greatly appreciated. Would definitely recommend!

Loved the paragliding! It was so relaxing, the view was scenic. It was the first time for my boyfriend who is afraid of heights, the instructor put him at ease so my boyfriend had a great time. That’s him in the photo;-)

This was seriously AMAZZZZING! We’re soooooo glad we did this! I’ve never dreamed I’d ever paraglide and never thought I would but I decided to book this and I’m sooo happy I did! It was the highlight of our trip to Medellín. We were a little nervous at first but the entire team including the certified pilot and crew on the ground made us all feel safe, secure and comfortable! It was absolutely beautiful from the second of take off until the fun landing with breath taking views! Not scary at all, the pilot and I (Andres) laughed and talked the entire flight time as he showed me the sights and explained the area to me. Andres was INCREDIBLE!!! Ask for him as your pilot if you can! Highly, highly, highly recommend this tour!!!

This experience was amazing and highly recommended. The entire tour team are very nice people and made the whole experience better, making sure we are safe up in the air and explaining the whole process to us before taking off. If you dont have a camera, I recommend getting the go pro with the SD card for like $13 because you are going to want to capture the beautiful views from the andes.

Booked this paragliding trip after a great experience with the same company for the Guatape day trip. Juliana made the booking process super seamless - she helped arrange the private transfer (to and from my hotel), provided link for online payment and promptly answered some side questions I had. I paid 40k pesos to rent their go-pro; they gave me a microSD afterwards to take home. Our private transfer driver, Favio, went above and beyond - he walked all the way up to the paragliding location and took videos of us taking off and landing!! My fly-mate, Antonio, was very professional and tried to point out places of interest for me - wish I’d spoken better Spanish to converse with him more in the air! Overall, excellent experience - thank you for the accommodation, Tours Guatape! Would do it again in a hearbeat.

Juliana was great, very accommodating. Transportation from and to your hotel is included via private chauffeur (I don't know if taxi is the right word to use), and you paraglide over Medellin. Recommend taking dramamine before hand. They'll ask you if you're feeling ok when you're descending, and if so then they'll do some near upside-down acrobatics with you which is pretty neat if your stomach can handle it, otherwise they just take it easy on the way back down. If you don't have a gopro you can rent one and they'll give you the micro SD card when you're finished. Highly recommended!
