I had a fantastic private tour with Daniel! He tailored everything to what I wanted, was really knowledgeable, and I’ve learnt lots about the area. Would highly recommend!
It was a fantastic trip, the driver was very welcoming, funny and made sure me and my friends had a good time. He also thought us a few things about the country history as well
Daniel was our guide and he was great! On the day of our tour, both main roads were closed to Guatape, but Daniel was diligent on finding a way to the town. Many of the locals were unaware of the closure to the roads to Guatape. We took the back roads, a bit bumpy, but without Daniel's resourcefulness, we wouldn't have made it to Guatape. The tour itself was great and I would definitely go again myself and recommend!
Joe was a fantastic tour guide! He was knowledgeable and very accommodating. I would highly recommend a tour with Joe.
My partner and I had an awesome time with our guide, Fabio. He suggested that we start the day early to avoid crowds and traffic (it was a great suggestion). Guatape is a gorgeous area! Views from the top of the rock are stellar, the surrounding terrain, lake, and village should not be missed! Fabio is a very knowledgeable, witty guide from the Medellin area. He shared tons of information about the Medellin/Guatape area with us. 😁
The guide Juan was excellent and the rock and city tour was amazing. I would recommend to anyone thank you
The walk to the top of the mountain, country side, boat ride, coffee shop and Guatape square. ……………. Good music
A full day of food tasting was really nice. Time to climb the rock was really appreciated. And the towns, the rock exceeded expectations. Guides Alex and Suzana were so informative, helpful and pleasant
Medellin Taxi Service was very responsive on WhatsApp. Our guide, Juan showed up right on time and our day was fantastic. Juan was simply awesome - great guide. Knew his stuff and was super patient with us. Very professionally done tour - would recommend to anyone. Value for money overall.
Juan was amazing in providing us the history go Guatape. We ate at a local restaurant and it was wonderful after climbing all of those steps. This tour was booked last minute and our travel agent was able to reserve Juan to be our tour guide. This is how much we enjoyed him and felt comfortable that we specifically asked for him.
Sergio picked us up right in front of our apartment. Then we first took a boat trip on the reservoir. Then we climbed the stone. He showed us the beautiful place. It was a very great and beautiful tour.
Amazing service highly recommend. Juan is so knowledgeable and keeps you entertained. I felt like I was with a friend. Whatever you need he’ll get it for you.
Juan was amazing! Great information, very mindful of my limitations, adjusted the tour based on my needs. Would highly recommend this tour...was so glad i did it!
Cristian was our guide and did a great job. Was very punctual and informative. Getting to see Guatape was amazing. One of the most beautiful places on Earth. It is a heckuva climb. We went on a boat ride and that was also worth it. Cristian knew all of the best shops and restaurants. Definitely worth it.
Wow! Can I just say, Wow? Guatape and La Piedra are my new favorite places on Earth. I had an amazing day with Juan David, he is very helpful and easy to talk with. It was the perfect day out there. The tour never seemed rushedand he had a lot to add. Best day and highly recommend everyone should visit Guatape and the top of La Piedra! Wow!
Amazing tour. Amazing places. Would highly recommend. Tour guide was very friendly, knowledgeable, and the places were just the most spectacular to see.
Excellent tour guide. Very knowledgeable He has so much information beautiful city with so much history and color. A must see
This tour is super fun and a great way to see the various places just outside of Medellin and learn about the culture and history. We took this tour with Steven and had a great amazing experience! He was knowledgeable and engaging. Five stars!
I was with Mr. Julio and he showed me not only guatape and Penol RocK but he gave great pointers about Colombia in general. He made me and my wife feel like family and he made us feel extremely comfortable and was a great tour guide.
Had this guatape tour and the experience was incredible, learned a lot and is a highly recommended tour for those who are coming to medellin
Amazing experience! Julio is one of a kind. Super friendly and helpful with any questions you may have. Guatape was beautiful and the hike up Penol rock isn’t bad. If you are looking for a smooth and fun experience I would highly recommend!
We went on a full day tour with Jesus! He was funny, knowledgeable, and professional! Had a great time! You will learn so much and enjoy the trip!
We started a tour earlier on a request of our tour guide, which was a great idea because we could enjoy amazing views from el Peñol rock with moderate croud and avoid very long queues which appeared when we were leaving. Pay attention on what is included in the tour and do not count on a guide. We had to pay the entrance fee to the rock on our own.
My trip to El penol and guatape was spectacular. Juan was so great, very patience and knowledgeable. Even it was on the Christmas eve, he was patience to allow me to spend alot of time roaming the town, shopping, climbing the El penol rock. The restaurant he recommended was so delicious and cheap with a great view of the lake. He was very consisderous, found clean restroom for me to use along the way. He gave tons of useful tips for traveling in other area like in cartegena and Bogota, for example make sure u do your money exchange in medillin, you get better rate there than in cartegena ect.. Very good tour guide.
If you have a full day this is a MUST DO!! Not only the view of the beautiful countryside from Peñol Rock, but the quaint villages and traditional Colombia lunch were simply amazing! Our guide Julio was so much fun and knowledgeable, and he answered all our questions in perfect English! We hated to see the day end because he made us feel like family! HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY!!
My parents and I loved every moment of this tour! Our guide, Sebastian, was knowledgeable, intuitive, and funny. Having our own private car allowed us to custom fit the day to our energy levels, interests, and whims. We loved climbing Peñol rock and touring the surrounding colorful towns. What a treat! Would highly recommend to others.
Andres Gomez was our guide and was a cool dude. Good information and flexible with his time. Good guide for young people to enjoy beautiful Medellin
Wilson was our guide and we found him very warm, engaging and knowledgeable, We spent a great day together and ended up more friends than guide/client. He is a gem!
Great tour and awesome guide! Julio made it easy and fun for my ten year old daughter and myself. Thanks so much, Julio!!
Eddy was our tour guide for or day trip to Guatape and also the next day paragliding in San Felix He is a great guy. He spoke English and Spanish which we needed in our group. He made the drive time in the car just as enjoyable as the rest of the activities on both days. He told us we could stop wherever and whenever we needed. Highly recommended!
Going on this day trip with Julio Cesar was like going with a friend you’ve known forever. The pace was relaxed, the conversation was unforced and he kept the mood light and fun. When he heard that my husband loved arepas de choclo, he took us to his favorite spot along the way and and on the way back because we wanted more. He took us to the base of el Peñol and took family photos for us and he waited patiently while we slowly climbed to the top to see the breathtaking view and then he drove us to the beautiful colorful town of Guatapé, as well as the replica town of old Peñol. I would recommend Julio to anyone looking for an excellent tour guide!
What a great day. Daniel picked us up at our hotel on time, drove us in a comfortable SUV to see everything we could have possibly wanted, and was knowledgeable, friendly, and just a great time. These guys handled everything- start to finish- for us, and we got to see/hike/experience everything we wanted to. A really great day- and Daniel was the perfect tour guide.
We had a great time with our guide Johann. He was very knowledgeable about every item on the itinerary. We would recommend it to other guests planning to see these sites.
Wonderful day tour! Our guide, Wilson, was excellent. He was very knowledgeable about the places and the people of the area. Highly recommend for a day out of the city to enjoy the countryside.
The tour guide's name for this trip was Juan Camillo. Juan offered excellent service and commentary on the area. Learned a lot about the area. This was a world class tour, Medellin is a beautiful city and the people are fantastic. Would highly recommend this tour company and this tour guide.
The tour was absolutely fantastic. Our guide, Sebastian, was very knowledgable, kind, and of course, funny. He explained the history of the area, quizzed us on our Spanish (we now know the words for many more vegetables), and showed us the best places to eat. He even took a drone video of us climbing the rock! Would definitely recommend this tour to all interested!!!!
We got the opportunity to go to Guatape with Steven it was a great trip. He knows the story and the area very well, he’s a professional but at the same time entertaining and unique. Definitely will recommend him. He made our day a awesome experience.
Thank you Andres for a great tour. Andres arrived at 8 am on the dot as arranged and drove us with great care and attention, in rainy conditions, to El Peñol where two members of our party climbed the rock and the third was kept entertained with local history, by Andres. Then on to Guadapè where Andres showed us the sights while filling us in on local lore. He brought us to a good restaurant which served local food at a good price, then on to the lake where we enjoyed a boat tour, all the while Andres filled us in on Pablo Escobar's connection with the lake. Andres also pointed out local landmarks. Andres approach is calm, measured and informed. He was a wonderful companion for the day and navigated the 6 lane highway with aplomb, before dropping us home. Thank you Andres.
My husband and I visited Medellin, and due to a tight schedule we decided to book a trip to Gautape and Peñol. The driver was very courteous, he picked us at the hotel on time and was quite helpful during our trip. The driving was smooth, a comfortable car and the driver/ guide was open to suggestions about the order of our itinerary. The town of Guatape is worth a visit, it is colorful, the people make you feel like home, the food was great and the coffee was out of this world. Highly recommended!!
We enjoyed a full day tour with Wilson visiting El Penon , Guatape & a boat trip . My son also went jet skiing for a half hour ! He spoke both English & Spanish & was very knowledgeable & allowed us to adapt to staying longer at places we wanted too . Would definitely recommend !
My fiancé and I were traveling to Colombia for the first time and El Peñol and Guatapé were a must! We have done tours in several other countries with both good and bad results, but our day trip with Julio was one of the best times we’ve had! His English was VERY good and he answered probably 100+ questions from us about anything and everything! He is very knowledgeable and provides you information throughout the day. It felt as if we were hanging out with a local friend we had known a long time and he gave us a ton of recommendations for the remainder of our trip as well! You are transported in a comfortable van and get to see some incredible views along the way! We also stopped at a roadside spot for breakfast on our way that had delicious food. I cannot speak highly enough of Julio and this tour. If you are planning a trip with this company, then I would definitely ask for him if you want to feel right at home the whole day! We did not experience any price surge like comments below because we booked pretty last minute and knew it was a private tour. We were a little upset at the fact we took a lot of picture with Julio during the day and wanted to exchange copies, but failed to get his information during the day and when we emailed the company for his contact information they never replied. Otherwise, great day and Julio was AWESOME!

Great day, excellent place to visit and great guide

Great walk, pleasant weather and excellent guide David, explained us during the way and visit about the village and its history as well as El peñol
This trip for me is unforgettable for its culture, in the warmth and kindness of the people, I felt well received, the Tour Guide was very friendly, demonstrated a lot of knowledge of the place. It's a trip that I'll repeat again because I still have more to know
We did the full day tour, it was very nice, we were picked up from the hotel, the tour operator is called Maxi Tours and the Service was first class, the guide very dynamic and explained everything, included in tour of the boat, lunch which by the way was very good, you definitely have to go and although we did not climb the rock they say that the view from there is spectacular but you must have a very good physical condition.
Keep in mind that you must wear light clothes since the first stop is the PEÑOL DE GÜATAPÉ, there you must climb about 800 steps until you reach the viewpoint, the price for this is 18k pesos, for eating I recommend the purblo de Gúatapé since there is a wide range of selection there, then the boat ride, I recommend the 1 hour, but if your budget is ample, you can do the Helicopterom ride that takes 10 minutes at a cost of 260K.
Knowing that the rock belongs to a particular person caught my attention, but it is very nice and interesting, the dam around is something impressive, for its landscapes, with the help of the guide one is satisfied with such a nice tour.
When you arrive in Medellin, you cannot miss this impressive natural monument. The view is truly spectacular from its top. Definitely would come back.!! The page forces me to set a date but does not allow you to select a true date.
Enjoy this experience to the fullest that I never imagined. Guatapè is a town that tells its story through the Zòcalo and very picturesque, El Peñol, has its story to tell in its village in a free museum or you leave your tip, has an immense reservoir that allows tourist navigation around it, many chalet houses, many foreigners and full of floating tourism.
