Guatape And El Peñol Rock Tour: Private Or Shared

A really great day! 780 steps but well worth it from the top of the rock! Lunch was also delicious. Andresta made us feel super informed and also gave us some great laughs! Great day, would recommend.

The Peñol Rock and the town walk were good, but the boat ride was a waste of time. (Don't go to the Boat Ride). I suggest going early in the morning to avoid the crowd.

Julio was the best driver. He drove very well and gave us the best recommendation for lunch. The tour company communicates very well over WhatsApp so we never had any doubts about the booking. Having our own driver meant we got to different spots as quickly as we wanted and didn’t have to wait for a whole tour bus of people. Highly recommend.

Our private tour to Guatapé with Arturo was incredible! He’s a walking history book with such deep knowledge about Medellín’s past and present — from culture to economy. We left feeling inspired and grateful for how much we learned. Highly, highly recommend!

We had a wonderful experience with Artur. He picked our family up in a very nice van and took us on the boat ride, we climbed the rock and had a wonderful lunch. The town tour was my favorite part. We saw lots of murals and authentic artwork. Artur was very knowledgeable, kind and thoughtful. The driver was too.

I had a group of 11 people and really wanted to prioritize getting back home at a certain time. This was the only tour that felt flexible and truly seemed to listen to what I wanted. Artur was our tour guide and was so helpful and informative, while also not being pushy. He took great pictures of our group and could tell exactly what our group would find important. Also a huge plus to see how many friends / locals he ran into on our tour. Would highly recommend!

Artur and Enrique made us feel like longtime friends. Their conversation and knowledge of the area made the time pass quickly. Guatapé is a hidden gem and climbing the stairs up the rock is a great work out. All in all, this trip exceeded our expectations.

El Penol has a lot of stairs but there’s no pressure to climb to the top. Go at your own pace. There’s also separate stairs for going back down. Our tour guide Santiago was great at explaining the history of Guatape, the colorful buildings, and the lunch was great! He was friendly, patient, and all around made the trip so memorable. The boat trip was short but a lovely way to cap the day.

Must Visit- A Great Place to spend the day! Easy Climb , great town and great boat ride see all the beautiful homes & hotels on the river.

The tour was well rounded by visiting the two cities of Guatape and El Peñol the rock and boat tour. The best part was the historical aspects of the tour.

We had a private tour with Arturo, he really made our day. He gave us a lot of interesting information so you understand the history of Colombia and where its beauty comes from today. The stairs were tough to climb but the view up there is amazing, what a reward. We passed the old house of Pablo Escobar dring the boat trip and stoppen at towns where you can taste chocolate limonade and buy local art. As already said, Arturo is a great tourguide who exactly knows how to inform and entertain you at the same time, thanks again!

I absolutely loved this tour of Guatapé with Arturo. He is so knowledgeable about Colombian history and present day, and was able to provide an experience and education beyond just Guatapé, including Communa 13 and the history of the Black population in the country. The lunch was delicious and had a good vegan option and the boat ride was both fun and education, we get to see one of Pablo Escobar’s homes that was attacked after his death!

I don’t what I fell in love more with, if our tour guide Artur or Medellin. His love for the city and vast knowledge was everything! We LEARNED so much. The story of Medellin is just something else. He was quick to respond and went above and beyond for us. We are coming back and we are definitely reaching out to him. No one better!

Fantastic day trip! Our guide Diana Ramirez and driver Julian took great care of us and we learned a lot about the culture and history of Colombia! In addition, Diana accompanied us up the rock of El Piñol, walked us through the city of Guatapé, organized an authentic lunch and shared her personal experiences growing in Medellin. Diana took excellent photos and showed us the highlights of the region!

This is a 100% obligatory stop on your tour through Colombia. You will get to see the peñon which offers a really outstanding view of the lake, eat great traditional food and also get a boat ride through the lake, where your guide will explain the history of the town. If you are interested in some of the more particular history of the country, and some gossip is of your interest the guide will also explain some ins and outs around the houses of celebrities that own a home there or that have owned one. Really interesting visit, a bit more outside the traditional tour you might do around Colombia, would 100% recommend it.

This tour is simply perfect, you see all the most important places in just one day. it is not at all stressful, besides that they provided us with a very well prepared Guide that gave us very useful information and made the tour very entertaining! I would always do it again for sure!!
