We had Ricardo as our tour guide and he showed us an amazing time! From the very beggining he was extremely welcoming and had fun activities planned all the way up the mountain. I would definitely recommend anyone who is coming to Medellin for the first time to book this tour specifically with him
Tour was amazing. Duvan was an excellent guide !
Really cool tour, lots of stops along the way to see different things and shows. Duvan was an excellent host, really fun and energetic. Highly recommend!
This was amazing!!! You get to lean so much on this tour. The tour guide was not only just handsome but he was amazing at his job. To see and learn about the different art pieces as well as the statues was great. I am so happy that I add this tour to my itinerary🫶🏽❤️
We arrived in Medellin late at night and had this tour planned for the next morning. It was a pretty relaxed tour with long breaks. I would have liked to walk more and learn more about the history, but this was a great way to start the trip.
Thank you Ricardo, he gave a great tour through all the local areas of commune 13 Great clear English and recommendations
Diego was absolutely amazing, sweet soul with a locals touch. He carried so much knowledge of the area with a good balance of information and enjoyment. 10/10!!!
Diego was a great guide! Best snacks and galleries. ¡Muchas gracias!
Diego is an incredible tour guide. There’s nothing better than having someone that actually lives in the comuna to tell you all about it. 10/10 highly recommends.
Experience was great. Very informative. Tied the history with the transformation very well. Juan was great.
Lots of cool facts and interesting stops, guide Ricardo spoke great english and was easy to get along with.
A great way to discover Comuna 13. Duvan was an excellent guide, knowledgable and made it great fun!
Duvan was an excellent guide. He gave tons of history, was easy to understand, and was full of energy.
While Comuna 13 is an un-missable sight to see, and I do recommend a guide for your first time experiencing the area (as it can feel like an overwhelming, overstimulating, loud, chaotic labyrinth until you get what’s going on within), I was not that impressed with this particular tour. Our tour guide was nice, but I don’t feel we got as much information throughout as we could have. We waited an extra 20 minutes for people to show up. The group was I think slightly too big a size for wandering the neighborhood single file, but I did see big groups with other companies too. Several times, we had to flag down the guide to stop or slow down because we were losing people in the chaos and he didn’t seem concerned about us sticking together. If I got lost in there, I would be very worried on how to get out of there. The walking parts felt very rushed and people wanted to take pictures as there’s some great art in there, and just general colorful cool quirky sights, but it was worrisome to not keep up with the guide and all the twists and turns in the path. There was a break dancing show to watch, so bring some cash for a tip. There were a few stops that I think we got a small amount of information and then lingered too long for who knows what. Then there was a stop at a lookout point where it felt like we were just there to be encouraged to buy drinks or souvenirs from the owners. We sat around for like 30 minutes with the guide chatting with the owners and then he left to get plantain snacks and a mango popsicle thing (street food). It was fine but nothing amazing. At this point, he gave the most detailed and informative history of the area with pictures in a binder and personal stories. This 20 minutes was the best part of what he did, and I wish that there would have been more information along the way instead of this one short chunk of time. Then we continued on where we got to graffiti/spray paint in one area. He offered that we could stay there if we wanted or he could take us back to the starting point. It was disappointing because I would’ve liked to stay there, have time to shop some of the stalls or see more murals and art, but instead we were rushed through the cool parts, and so worried about keeping up it was hard to enjoy, and then wasted a bunch of time sitting at random spots with them hoping we would drink and spend money instead of seeing more of the neighborhood. And how on earth were we supposed to find our way out of there if we’d decided to stay without him? It was such a strange way to finish the tour, and I would not do this particular one again. It’s a super cool area, but I was disappointed that I didn’t feel we got enough time to really appreciate it. I think it was supposed to go from 130-430pm, but it was really like 150-350pm with wasted time within.
Perfect Tour to get to know the history. Ricardo was a great guide!
Thanks to Jorge—he was wonderful! His clear explanations and the history of the Medellín Cartel provided so many details I hadn’t known before, and he cleared up all my questions. I hope to return soon with my friends so they can have this experience too.
Juan was the best tour guide ever… he was very detailed about the history of Cumuna 13 and Columbia. The tour was awesome
Really enjoy my experience and Juan was an excellent tour guide
I took two tours with Juan he was awesome and has a lot of knowledge about the city and it’s history.
Ricardo was exceptional good. Beyond being verse in the historical information of the tour, he brought the experience to life in a memorable way. Kudos and many thanks Ricardo
Ricardo was my guide. I arrived first and from the moment I did he was very polite, he was early, he answered all my questions. Everything I wanted to do he ensured it was done. The tour it self was amazing, learning about a man that I admire for his ambition and strength was an experience I will never forget.
I’m so glad I didn’t skip this tour! I learned a lot about the history of Comuna 13. The street art depicts exactly what Juan explained to us. Juan was very informative and kept us all well engaged. Definitely wish I had more time to do more tours with him.

Ricardo was an amazing guide! Thank you!
We loved our tour with Ricardo. He was very knowledgeable about the area and was able to get us around safely.
Duvan was one of the best tour guides I’ve ever had. If you are looking to come to truly understand and witness the incredibly vibrant, resilient and diverse culture and history of this incredible place, do not miss this tour. It is a truly unique and compelling experience to be guided through this historic neighbourhood by Duvan - an amiable young man from Comuna13, who survived a horrible past of violence, trauma and disruption, taught himself English, art and even Hip Hop, and raised himself up so that he can benefit his community - and show the world that Colombia is more than just Pablo Escobar and cartels, but a vibrant, resilient and alive community full of talented engineers, artists and culture. I am in awe of Duvan’s candour with his personal story, through which you can really see what it’s like to be a member of this community (being one where he seems to know everyone, goi - and his is a story of hope and power for the people of this wonderful place, who have risen from a troubled past to create a now incredibly vibrant and safe community that honours and remembers its past through art. The tour was full of multiple amazing, interactive surprises that were so memorable - and together with our amazing host Duvan, they made this an unforgettable experience, amazing value for money, and a must-do if you wish to truly appreciate the beauty and vibrancy of Medellín and its Comunas.
Duwan is a great story teller. Highly recommend.
It was an amazing experience! From the guide, history, refreshments and people at the Comuna. Jorge, born and raised here, provided us with the whole experience including tourism and what the actual comuna looks like. Would recommended it 100%!!
Tour didn’t start on time but the experience made up for it as the tour guide ( Ricardo) did a great job.
Finally got a chance to see and experience Communa13 in all its glory. Beautiful vibe and people. Most of all, our guide Ricardo was exceptional! He was polite and able to communicate the history of the district very well. I highly recommend him for your next trip!

He was also incredibly attentive and welcoming, making sure we felt comfortable and enjoyed every moment. We highly recommend Ricardo from Explore Meddelin to anyone visiting Comuna 13!
Amazing! Worth every penny and insightful stories.
This is an absolute must-see when visiting Medellín. Comuna 13 is uniquely beautiful, offering a striking contrast where the older neighborhood architecture is beautifully brought to life by stunning modern murals. What made the experience truly unforgettable was our guide, Juan. He was amazing, generously recounting personal stories from his own childhood in Comuna 13 and walking us through the incredible journey of the neighborhood's modernization. Hearing that firsthand history gave so much depth to everything we saw. Highly recommend this tour!
Juan was our guide, he gave us an amazing history about the area and his personal experience growing up here.
