Barrio Transformation: Escalator Of Comuna 13 With Transport

This was an amazing experience. It was our first time visiting Medellín, Colombia, so we booked a four-hour morning tour. It was a pleasure meeting our guide, Daniel. He picked us up from the hotel and gave us a guided tour of Comuna 13. He is very knowledgeable about local events, which enhanced the experience with his perspective on the history, the people, and the city’s transformation. The scenery was spectacular, and Daniel stopped frequently to suggest great photo spots. He also highlighted the amazing street art, pointed out monuments, and described other places in the city as well as communities in Colombia that we might want to visit. The tour included walking up to the top of the market section of Comuna 13, as well as riding the escalators and gondola. Overall, we truly enjoyed our guided tour and would definitely recommend it.

Our private tour to Comuna 13 was fantastic! Daniel was an excellent guide. He gave us the option on what order we wanted to do our in. He was very patient answering all of our questions and so knowledgeable. Would love to have him as a guide again. Would definitely do a private tour again.

We did a private half day tour with Luis Alberto and had a great experience. We not only got to see El Centro and Comuna 13 but also stopped at different street food vendors along the way to sample local fruits and small bites. Luis Alberto was very knowledgeable and provided excellent historical information. Highly recommend this tour.

So glad we got to see this with our own eyes and to hear stories of the transformation of Comuna 13. There was plenty of walking up slopes, so the escalators we're a nice change. Kind of like a metro station with no trains

Esteban was great, speaks perfect English (grew up in the US), had a new car, knew all the great spots & the locals. Definitely a clear recommendation if you want to see interesting parts of the city, in a relaxed way, with no hassle or neef to plan anything.

Our guide Esteban picked us up with his car and drove us to the other side of town. The ride was already great fun, as Esteban is just hilarious. During the whole trip (cableacar ride and stroll through Julio 20) he was alway open for questions and had many insights into local life for us. Gracias Esteban!

If you have to get a tour guide, you have to ask for Louis he was absolutely amazing. Louis took us on a few tours as he was amazing from the first day, we met him.He went over and beyond and what he should’ve done. He showed us everything. He is so knowledgeable in Medellin and we learned a lot about his country. He took his time we went to lunch. He crack some jokes it was like a friend giving us a tour of his country. Now I consider Louis one of my good friends in Columbia. He was amazing I highly recommend him.

Comuna 13 was awesome. We saw so much talent throughout the graffiti tour!! 💙💛 there are places to eat, shop, and take pictures. During the tour you see local rappers and singers. You hear different kinds of music playing from bars and restaurants. Comuna 13 is lively and colorful which I enjoyed so much. Our tour guide Luis Reyes taught me about Comuna 13’s history which was fascinating. He was kind and personable. I recommend him to guide you during this tour!

This tour is really cool. You get to see the other side of the city. Not only do you get a bit of history but you get to see the massive difference 20 years has had on one of the most dangerous and poor neighborhoods in the city. The area has such and joyful and welcoming vibe. Our guide Luis Reyes gave us detailed explanations of everything we saw along the tour. He took us to a few local spots for some the most delicious foods we’ve had on our vacation yet. My favorite was the sugar cane juice called Guarapo.

We went to Comuna 13. Our tour guide was Luis Reyes. He was excellent! Very knowledgeable about Comuna 13 and Medellin as a whole. He was punctual, courteous and kind. He answered all of our questions, was very patient and took pictures for us. He also knew some of the people in the community and I thought that was very cool because we meet some of the local community members. It's super busy because there were a lot of other tours on the weekends but the history and actually being able to walk around the community and see all the local vendors, hear the smell the food was a great experience. I will take the tour again but the next time I will go during the week. That way I can take my time and relax a little more along the way. If you want to take this tour, and you should, be sure to ask for Luis Reyes. He will exceed your expectations.

This was a great tour. Luis went out of his way to include special details. This area was a fascinating counterpoint to the dark day’s history. The area is vibrant and full of energy. This wasn’t on our original itinerary but we added it because we enjoyed our previous tour with Luis so much. I am sooo glad we did.

Luis was such an excellent caring guide! I was solo on this trip and he made me so comfortable, we had a great time chatting about Colombia and Medellin’s history and I learned so much from him. We had the best tour with Luis Reyes! It was really great to see Comune 13 with someone who actually lived there - he seemed to have a friend on every corner! Luis took us to the best place for the most delicious empanadas I’ve ever had, and tasty mango biche! Que rico! It was wonderful to see the whole neighborhood from above in the cable car, and to see the city glittering at night from the top of the mountain after going up all of the escalators. Although you could probably see Comune 13 by yourself, there is nothing like having a local show you all the best spots for food and pictures. Thank you Luis!!

When I arrived in Medellín it was already noon, and I wanted to take most out of the rest of the day. A family member shared with me David's contact information and it was the best decision I could have made to take the tour. I was able to get to know the neighborhoods of Medellin, the Medellin Sports Coliseum, and Comuna 13. Despite the fatigue of the flight, David made sure that the experience was the best possible. Always attentive to explain and talk about the history of the places I visited pointing out really interesting points about the political and social changes in the last decades in Medellin. Me and my friends did the Pablo Escobar and Comuna 13 tour. The experience was great and full of culture. Our tour guide, Steven was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. If you decide to book with this company you should request Steven.They picked us up from our Air BnB promptly and filled us with details along the ride above and beyond what the tours called for. I could tell that Steven had a connection with the people we met along the way and that added to the richness of the experience. I felt like I was at home as we walked through Comuna 13. Medellin is a beautiful city with beautiful people!!!

We booked the slum/communa tour and we could have not made a better choice! First of all the booking system is very very fast (it took only 5 minutes to get the confirmation of the tour!). Our guide, Kevin, has been punctual and we started our tour at 9 am as per booking. First we visited barrio Moravia and Kevin gave us the chance to know its history and the strong development of these last years! The current status of Barrio Moravia is due to the great job of the locals. Kevin explained us everything and with a lot of love and it is the best way to do a great job! Then we visited Communa 13, we took the escalator and the metro cable and we realized how much the people struggle everyday to make the best of what they have, humble and full of dignity! Kevin, like everyone in Medellin, made his best to show that things are really changing! We really enjoyed and it was like visiting a city with a friend (but very very prepared!)

This was an incredible tour of two neighborhoods, Moravia and Comuna 13, which used to be among the most dangerous in Medellín, maybe the world, and are now at the forefront of its transformation. Our guide Silvio did an amazing job not only of showing us around but also relating his experiences as a Medellín native and putting these areas in the context of the history of the city. The most special part of the tour was seeing how Medellín's turnaround has been achieved not just by making the city "tourist-friendly" but by really investing in the citizens through public transport like the cable cars and escalators as well as other community projects. I can't even begin to say how inspiring it is to see this in person and think about what else can be possible if we set our minds to it. If you want to really get a sense of the past, present, and future of Medellín and Colombia, you won't get a much more real tour experience than right here. All logistics were on point as well. I went on this tour with my family and we were picked up outside our Airbnb and guided around all day by Silvio, who was engaging, fun, super professional, and seemed to know everyone. Thanks a lot!

Mijo if you are going to come to our house at least educate yourself before saying so much bullshit, free of charge this data, in commune 13 we are not 12,000 people, that is not even in independence 1, the other the social projects have not been done by the Government, and are not one of the stairs of the city, they are the only ones in South America, Hopefully we will see soon to give you professorship and stop selling lies.
