Definitely a unique way to visit Okavango Delta. Only downside was two days before I received a note that I would have to pay $100 single supplement, which was not disclosed on Viator. Seemed like a bit of a scam as left no time to make other arrangements. I was given option to cancel but again wish this was disclosed.

Very good experience. The tour guide at the Okavango Canoe was so knowledgeable. We learned a lot about the culture, the animals, and the land. We saw elephants, hippos, alligators, etc. The flowers/water lilies were beautiful. Amazing experience to see all these in a canoe. Really recommend the trip. Very calm and tranquil.
Great experience in the delta. Do’t expect to paddle, you are in a traditional Mokoro with a poleman.
Trip was good but drive out was too long compared to other freinds who went with other providers.
The 1 Day Okavango Delta Mokoro/Canoe Daytrip is a truly unique experience that allows travelers to connect with nature in one of the most peaceful and untouched places in the world. Gliding silently through the crystal-clear channels of the Okavango Delta in a traditional mokoro offers a different kind of adventure — calm, authentic, and unforgettable. Surrounded by beautiful landscapes, birds, and wildlife, visitors can fully relax and enjoy the magic of the Delta away from the noise of everyday life. One of the most special parts of this activity is the sense of peace it provides. The gentle movement of the canoe, the sounds of nature, and the breathtaking scenery create a calming atmosphere that helps guests feel refreshed and connected to the environment. It is not only an adventure but also a chance to experience tranquility and appreciate the natural beauty of Botswana in a very personal way. The experience is made even better by the excellent guides and drivers who are friendly, knowledgeable, and professional throughout the journey. They ensure guests feel safe, comfortable, and well taken care of while sharing interesting information about the Delta, its culture, and wildlife. Their passion and hospitality make the trip even more memorable and enjoyable for every traveler.
The safari vehicle ride there - so interesting. You would never guess so many people are living back in those woods. Aboard the canoe, relax, enjoy birds and day lilies, and ask whatever you want. Our guide, SchoolBoy, was a virtual encyclopedia of Botswana. We saw hippos, gnus, antelope, large giraffe groups, and a poacher's snare. Others in our group saw elephants. Picnic lunch by Nando's. Perfection.
An absolutely serene experience, which was closer to a meditation. Despite being told that we may not see any wildlife, we came across loads of animals, from giraffes to zebras to wildebeest to hippos. Shout-out to Morks, who was the best guide, sharing ample knowledge and humour. My only complaint is that this was quite an expensive tour, which was probably worth the money, yet we were still expected to tip our guides at the end. It makes me feel like the company is not distributing the money fairly to those who deserve it the most.
Guides were knowledgeable One of the cheaper options Saw nice birds and other wildlife A good experience if you love birds because the ride there was bird paradise. The ecosystem is very interesting and beautiful Properly planned and proper pickup time They had nice vehicle for the dirt roads Well prepared.
It was so nice trip. So much satisfied 😌
We took the day trip with Kalahari Breeze Safari to the Okavango. We had a wonderful time. We saw hippos and the poler(the person operating the canoe) were very careful to keep a good distance making us feel very safe. We had a great picnic lunch. The broght Nando's for us. We saw lots of Impala and Zebra. There was a huge herd of Wildebeest coming through. We even had the oppurtinty to operate the mokoro. That was real fun but it was a lot harder than it looked. Maria from the office was great to deal with and answered all my questions promptly. The best part was after we were dropped off at the hotel at the end of the day an hour later someone from the office came back to our hotel becuase we left our power bank in the vehicle. I didn't even realize that I had left it there. That is wonderful that they would do this for us. Highly recommended
I had a very good time on the Okavango Delta. The tour was very well organized from beginning to end and it was all as advertised. The guides on the water were very professional and made you feel safe and comfortable and we got to see more animals than I expected. All in all a very nice experience and I can recommend this tour to everyone who wants to explore the delta in a relaxing way.
From start to finish. The staff team and the Mokoro pole'ers were great well spoken, calm and knowledgeable. Great way to spend a day in the Delta
I had an incredible time in the Okavango delta, the local guides were eager to answer any questions and teached us a lot. The unique ecosystem of the delta was espectacular, and although the tour is not focused on animal sightings, we were very lucky and got to see quite a few.
Wonderful tour, friendly and knowledgeable guides and driver!! Beautiful way to see the Delta in Botswana!! Definitely a must do!!!
It was nice but too short than expected. We finished with everything at 12.. but ok. I wish you good luck
The canoe ride was beautifully serene and the totally unspoilt delta was absolutely lovely. We saw loads of birds and quite a few animals (hippos, wildebeest, warthog, zebra, mongoose, antelope, etc.) too, a huge bonus. A wonderful experience. The picnic lunch provided was very good and welcome after all our exertions. However, it didn't start well when there was a miscommunication between office and driver/guide (Craig) about pickup location of the 2nd guest to be collected, resulting in me having to sit waiting in the vehicle for 45 mins (having got up early for the 7.15 am pickup) before he finally found out where to pick her up. We ran 35 mins late for the next two pickups and the guide did not even apologise to anyone. Then, along the way, he informed our group of 6 Europeans that we would be able to choose how long the bush walk would be, from 30 mins to 1 hr. 30, depending on how we felt. However, when we arrived on the island after the canoe journey, the local guide/poler (who called himself X-tra) took us on the walk and gave us no choice - he walked painfully slowly for a total of 1 hr . 45 in the blazing sun with no shade, in the heat of the middle of the day; it was 34 degrees and although I had a hat, suncream, lots of water, I got sunstroke and felt very unwell. It was the first time in my life experiencing this and I've visited around 60 countries, many of them very hot ones. Although I had to sit on the ground a couple of times when the guide stopped to tell or show us something, as I thought I might faint otherwise, and when he asked if I was ok as I seemed tired, I informed him I felt a bit faint with the heat, but he took little notice and made no accommodation. I was unwell for 24 hours, still feeling faint and nauseous on my 17-hour plane journey home the next day. (I learned afterwards that it's a dangerous, emergency condition that can even lead to brain haemorrhage in severe cases.) I think the length (and maybe the timing during the day) of the walk should be adjusted for the conditions, and welfare of the clients should be taken into account - particularly looking out for signs of sunstroke/heatstroke on hot days.
What an amazing day! From traveling to our departure location and returning back to our local accommodations, everything was so enjoyable. We were out in the open all day and the sun was shining and the temperatures were warm and the journey was peaceful and relaxing. There was plenty of time to take in everything that was going on around us and plenty of time for our rowing guides to answer all of our questions. We were provided a packed lunch which suited our needs perfectly. Don’t miss out on a chance to see the Delta via the Mokoro canoe tour! You’ll love it!
It was an interesting experience that I'm happy to have participated in once but doubt I would do again. My experience may have been different if I had a seat, however they ran out and I had to balance cross legged for the whole duration. It was great to see the wildlife from low viewpoint. The birds were absolutely spectacular. The bush walk was fascinating once the guides spoke to the whole group and not just 1 participant. Bravo in particular was very knowledgeable with tracking, animal behaviour and local plant uses. Lunch consisted of a cold Burger and salad from a local take away chain. Be prepared for a very fast and bumpy trip to and from the Mokoro station. Also make sure you take provisions in case you need to go to the toilet as it's bush only - which is fine - just lucky I had provisions on me as I was unaware.
Highly recommended for those who want to feel like they're inside Okavango delta. You can feel the peaceful atmosphere and calmness.
Pick us was easy. Ride took about 1h. Afterwards we were introduced to our local guides. They took us with the mokoro through the Delta for most of the day. We saw zebras, wildebeests, an elephant and many birds. Once we got back we drove to a lodge in the Delta and lunch was provided for us. The local guides can tell you everything you want to know about the Okavango Delta
Having been on quite a few game drive safaris, I found the mokoro tour a novel and worthwhile experience. We saw a lot of hippos and a few elephants wading through the water, and on the walking tour we got quite close to a big herd of lechwes. Kalahari Breeze was super responsive and helpful in planning this trip and making last minute adjustments.
Brilliant trip ! We had a fantastic guide who was right on time in a new safari vehicle , and he was very knowledgeable. We had a great time on the Delta and found found it such good value for money . It was a full day with an hour walk thru the bush . It ended with a great lunch at the Bell Frog which was amazing food and atmosphere . Thank you for a great day !
Beautiful, relaxing trip in a mokoro. The communication was fantastic. Pick up was timely. Lunch was provided for every dietary need. The guides were very friendly and knowledgeable. The nature walk to the baobab was pleasant. We saw lots of zebra and wildebeest on the walk and near the water and many types of birds. The main attraction is the serenity of the delta however. Would highly recommend.
Wow wow wow; I was totally impressed with Kalahari Breeze. They are responsive on all their platforms. They communicated with me; they were on time and the experience with their entire team was just super. They even managed to surprise my partner with a cake and candles in the bush I mean can you imagine? Memories like this are what life is for and Kalahari Breeze provides u memories of a lifetime that are priceless
A good way to see the Okavango Delta. Peaceful and enjoyable. Our guides, including Lesh, were outstanding. Special mention to Mr. Kenny, who is an exceptional driver. Recommended!
I did this mokoro tour of the Okavango Delta as part of the Kiboko Adventure Safari and it was amazing. There were two of us in the mokoro (dug-out canoe) with the pilot (the man who uses a long pole to push us through the long grasses, reeds and water lilies). We also had a tour guide who told us about the flora and fauna that we saw along the way. We got to see birds' eggs resting on lily pads; tiny little "Jesus" birds which walked across the surface of the water; and beautiful, beautiful water lilies - a veritable carpet of them floating on the water. The guide and his pilots were friendly, knowledgeable and very adept at manipulating the mokoros. It was such a peaceful way to view the delta from the perspective of the water's surface itself. No loud engines; not looking down from on high. Just the quiet dip of the poles and the sounds of the wildlife. I highly recommend seeing the Okavango Delta this way.
A great way to finish my tire was to spend the day on the Okavango Delta being poles around in a canoe. It was very relaxing and the pace was just right after a hectic week. The guides weee knowledgeable and informative.
what an absolutely brilliant experience. i would highly recommend this trip. our guide was superb. helped us to track animals. he was well equipped for the bush walk & very knowledgeable. the Mokoro experience was unique.
It was a great and unique experience from the perspective of the makuro canoe and local guide to see some wildlife but also experience nature on water and by foot during the hike through the bush!
We had an amazing time during our trip. Our guide was an amazing, kind man. He shows you the best parts of the Okavango Delta, has a great eye for spotting animals and has so much knowledge to share about the area. We would definitely recommend!
I had the most incredible experience with Kalahari Breeze Safaris in the Okavango Delta. It was truly the highlight of my entire road trip. The serene beauty of the Delta, along with the guidance of Craig and our two local Mokoro guides, made for an unforgettable adventure. Visiting the village was a unique and enriching experience, allowing me to connect more deeply with the local culture and our guides. The genuine care shown for the animals, the environment and the relationship between nature and people throughout the tour made it even more special. I wholeheartedly recommend Kalahari Breeze Safaris to anyone looking for a memorable and authentic journey. Thank you for creating such lasting memories!
Overall good experience, mokoro guides are nice and good. Just be aware, the day trip needs a minimum number of 4 passengers, otherwise, it will be cancelled or offered you to reschedule. So if you're solo traveller or pressed on time, this might be an issue. I think this should be fully disclosed and explained on the listing, not a vague one-liner. Seems disingenious on the operator side.
What a wonderful day trip! We were picked up by our awesome driver right on time. Our poler guide Flamingo was so knowledgeable, friendly, and funny. We got to see tons of animals and learn about the delta while peacefully floating along the river. I would highly recommend!
This is an amazing trip and the guides are very knowledgeable and keen to share the knowledge of their area. Strongly recommend
This part of the delta was beautiful and our Guide from the Village Gedeon was very knowledgeable. He told us everything we needed to know. We saw a lot of Hippos, Giraffes with a baby, Gnus, Impala, Buffalos, Zebras, Pelicans, lots of other birds and Elefants. All in all amazing experience.
Very special and not to be missed experience in Okavango delta. Our poler was very informative, pointing and naming different birds and animals when noticing them. He would stop Mokoro and positioned it for better photo position. But, it highly depends on the poler. Some other members from our group in other Mokoro canue were highly unsatisfied with their poler as it kept silent all the time.
We very much enjoyed the Mokoro trip. Our guide - Junior - was excellent, very polite and informative. He should get promoted! Just note that you will only see a small part of the Okavango Delta. The tour is 'just' a one-hour Mokoro drive (and one hour back) and a bush walk for about one hour. In comparison to this, the price is quite high and the transport of about four hours round trip long. If you can, try to stay in the delta for a few days. If you cannot, this is and the Moremi game drive are probably your only decent options. If you are unlucky and don't see many animals which sometimes happens, we suppose that this tour gets a bit boring. Also, insist on an English-speaking Mokoro guide or you will miss out on most of the information about the delta and its wildlife which happened to others on our tour. Lastly, note that activities of this kind entail some risk. You will float close to Hippos in a Mokoro and will, therefore, be mostly unprotected from them. In our case, a hippo started running at us but luckily, the Mokoro drivers managed to make it turn away by screaming and hitting the water with their poles.
Incredible experience. Picked up at our hotel on the dot. Open top rode to the delta where our “poler” was waiting. An hour out to the lunch and walk spot, then an hour back. Elephant, zebra, giraffe, wildebeest, buffalo and antelope oh and did I mention the huge number of hippo and birds. Our driver was Craig who was courteous and thoughtful. Our piper was Castro who gave us so much information it was so rewarding. Brilliant day with superb salads (one vegan) and lots of ice cold water. 10/10.
It was amazing to hear the hippos calling out to each other! The bonus was walking and having lunch in the bush with an experienced guide!
The driver Lee was on time picking up, on the way to the delta we saw lots of birds and animals. My guide Epi great poler and again saw birds, animals, and hippos ( not in the water) but in land. Lunch by Nandos but I was still hungry.
Went on this Mokoro day trip to the Okavango Delta - everything was great, I recommend. Communication and booking via email and WhatsApp was easy. I was picked up from my hotel as discussed, the transfers and driver were very comfortable, the Mokoro guide was great and the bush walk was fabulous too. This year in April things are a bit dried than usual and water levels are lower but the team informed me about this before I left. I still had a good time!
We had an excellent experience from booking process to the tour itself. It is not your typical game drive. After travelling for about 1h-1h30 we transferred to a mokoro canoe which was a bit unsettling at first to really exciting and sublime in the same time a few minutes later. Gliding within Okavango channels can not be compared to anything. A nice ‘workout’ - walk on one of the islands to see some wild life is a good addition. Really glad we took this trip with Kalahari Breeze Safaris
It was a very interesting experience. just extremely hot, and the water levels was a bit low. The game drive could be a bit shorter, it was very exhausting with the heat. The canoe polers was very good and friendly. Remember to use your sunscreen and an umbrella and good hat is handy
Our guides were so nice and fun. They taught us so much and made us feel so comfortable. We got to see so many elephants, zebras, wildebeests, impalas, baboons, and even hippos! It was peaceful, relaxing, and exciting! Highly recommend!
Thanks to all that made this Mokoro Safari so memorable! Excellent guides and driver with incredible views of the African wildlife!
(1) Land drive to the destination was comfortable (2) Mokoro ride was peaceful and spiritual (3) Walking safari was easy paced and we saw lots of animals. The guide Lenox ( Leonard ?) provided lots of information
We enjoyed our Mokoro trip emensly, our driver Chanda was friendly and we had a great chat. Our Mokoro poler Baya was excellent. I'd recommend Kalahari Breeze Safaris for this trip. They were responsive and gave plenty of information to prepare us for the day. It was pretty warm on the return after lunch but we expected that. Have a hat and sunscreen on hand. They provided a nice lunch and plenty of water. Our walk was almost 5km over a couple of hours but each walk can be different. We saw zebra, wildebeest, elephants and hippos. Baya kept us at safe distances.
Perfect organization, a wonderful experience to cross the delta in a mokoro with the locals including island walk.
This was one of the most unique experiences I have ever been on! It's a company owned by Africans and your guides are all local and that's an added plus. My only suggestion is I wish it could have been longer!
The whole experience and area we explored was beautiful! The guides were friendly, professional and knew a LOT about the animals! I saw zebra, giraffes and hippos and had a lovely hike too. The tour organiser was very flexible in finding me a date I could make and everyone there was lovely! I would say just make sure you wear jeans or tough trousers for the hike and bring lots of layers if it’s in winter season as it is very cold in the morning! And covered shoes/sneakers. Definitely make this trip!
