We visited in summer 2025. The hotel is nicely styled, overlooking the chobe river. The view from the cocktail bar during sunset is great. The restaurant is mostly geared for larger tour groups, with most tables being reserved for those groups, lowering the experience for private travelers. The selection of local foods was very good. The excursion booking was not very well organised, and the staff there was not terribly friendly.
The location was great ! Just by the river with amazing sunsets, close to the game drives by water or land. The food quality was okay although there were game meats and local favorites in buffet style dining. The room was tight and small, needed some updates.
My stay at Cresta Mowana was a memorable one. Nestled along the Chobe River, the setting is breathtaking, with serene views and incredible wildlife right at your doorstep. We didn't even have to be on a safari activity to see hippos, warthogs and mongooses. The room was spacious, comfortable and beautifully maintained, offering a perfect blend of luxury and relaxation. The staff were warm and always willing to go an extra mile to make my stay an unforgettable one. Dining was a highlight, with delicious meals and a good variety to suit one's taste. The Resort is ideal for all types of guests, from honeymooners seeking romance to families, corporate groups and adventure travelers. It offers a mix of relaxation, luxury, activities and scenic surroundings, ensuring a memorable stay for everyone.
Overall Impression While our experiences in the Chobe National Park was excellent the hotel itself did not quite meet expectations. We appreciated the location and the quality of the game drives, which ultimately convinced us to stay for the duration of our booking. Areas for Improvement Property Maintenance: The hotel is in need of some essential updating. We noticed several maintenance issues, including loose taps, poorly fitted electrical sockets, and a lack of locks on the men’s restroom doors. These are just a few of the issues. Addressing these would significantly improve the guest experience. Sustainability & Water Access: While the food selection was enjoyable, we were disappointed by the drinking water policy. Given that local water is unsafe, we expected a filtered refill station. Being required to purchase small plastic bottles is not ideal especially given the price charged. There were two small bottles provided but this is a fraction of the water that is recommended to be drunk at those temperatures. We would advise visitors to get to the closest supermarketing to buy lots of water at reasonable prives. Tipping Culture & Currency: We fully understand the importance of tipping staff; however, the constant "hints" for tips from certain staff made us feel uncomfortable. This was further complicated by the fact that the reception and bar were frequently "out of change," making it impossible for us to break down larger notes to tip as we intended. We hope this feedback is taken constructively and the management use this to improve visitor experience.
