Matthew McLaughlin was the best tour guide we have ever had! His storytelling was so compelling and captivating! We have had many tour guides in many places and this has been the most enjoyable tour yet!

At the Joshua Ward House, up next, you'll get a glimpse of what remains of the residence once belonging to Sheriff George Corwin, who signed the arrest and execution warrants of those accused of witchcraft
The Salem Witch Trials are typically associated with women and girls. ... Corey was buried in an unmarked grave in what is now the Howard Street Cemetery, ... on his ghost's bad side, consider joining us on our journey through historic Salem.
Then you'll pass by an impressive statue of Roger Conant, Salem's founder and first governor, as well as the Witch Museum, filled with all sorts of deep-dive info about the trials and the surrounding mass hysteria
Another detour brings you to the Broad Street Cemetery, where Sheriff Corwin ended up after suffering a mysterious heart attack
Then you'll see Hamilton Hall, a venue which has hosted esteemed figures like Alexander Hamilton, FDR, and the Marquis de Lafayette

If you dont start at the beginning or walk in the direction it tells you to, its difficult to get the info. There were a few places we say and wanted info on that was not in the app. We ended up buying a guided tour.
Great tour and easy way to walk and do it at your own pace. The app was so easy to use. Recommend!
It was nice to see and learn about the rich history of Salem at our own pace. It was a beautiful day! We could enjoy all the sights and sounds of Salem.
Exceptionally knowledgeable and dedicated staff. Very enjoyable tour -- even for my second time! Read the book, watch the movie, do this tour!
It was alright, more touristy and less historical than I was looking for, but a nice walk around Salem.
Live it. Good walking experience
This was a great find! The tour is set to talk while you walk and it knows where you are. I travel alone a lot and usually for just a day or two to look around and this is perfect as there is no official start or end and you can listen at any time, even if you are just doing a virtual version of the tour.
The is my third trip to Salem. For the most part it was ok. Most things were closed because it is early in the season .
The set up was a little stressful (required downloading two apps while paused on a sidewalk), but once we got things downloaded and set up, it was a great tour experience! I would definitely recommend downloading ahead of time, but also why do there need to be TWO different apps?
We really enjoyed the narration and being able to take the tour when we wanted. The only reason I gave it a 4 instead of 5 is because it didn’t always start on its own.
We enjoyed the walking tour and its ease of use once we got started. We did as suggested and got everything ready with the app before leaving the house. The tour is easy to follow and has alternate stops and routes if you want to learn more. We had our teenaged grandson with us and he found it very informative too.
An informative and convenient way to see Salem and be immersed in its history. Makes it easy to take side trips to eat or shop...and then return to the tour at your convenience. Well done.
Self guided walking tour is a good premise but the technology didn’t work the way it was explained. I’d stand in front of an historic site and no message. Then I would get in my car or a restaurant and it would start describing things that were not near me!
Perfect audio guide! This was so easy to use and gave us all the little history tidbits about Salem that we needed. It was self paced perfect for our quick 1/2 day stop in Salem.
Our guide was entertaining with lots of history about Salem and the places we visited along the walk. She shared pictures of actual ghosts caught on camera
We really enjoyed the audio for the self-guided walking tour. He gave us interesting facts about Salem, and we were able to move at our own pace. Excellent value at a great price!
Great way to learn about the history of Salem on this little walk. Would recommend as long as you can walk comfortably.
The room was very comfortable, clean, and large. Waking distance to every thing. Highly recommend. Breakfast was great!
Good self-guided tour, highly recommend to follow red additional routs. We also visited The Witch House at Salem (historical house of a judge) and The House of the Seven Gables. Highly recommend to have a lunch at Turner's Seafood at Lyceum Hall (great seafood).
My husband and I found this tour lacking and boring. We left early. Would not recommend that you waste your money on this
Great way to explore the town and learn about its history. Very convenient to explore at your pace, stopping in shops or bars of museums as you please.
The app was difficult to use. I bought 2 tickets yet couldn’t load the second app for my husband. The tour said that I could leave at any time and would resume. The app kept repeating itself on the same first location and wouldn’t stop no matter where we were.
The tour was great, bring headphones if going during busy times but we all thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to returning.
Amazing history of Salem and all the Halloween costumes. So much to see and take in. Beautiful century old homes. I'm a big fan of Bewitched as I grew up in the 60's and 70's. Elizabeth Montgomery's statue was my favorite.
It was our first time trying a self-guided tour and it was great! My husband and I shared audio and for us it aggravated my husband when his disconnected (no fault of tour). My suggestion would have been to purchase 2 tour downloads to avoid the issue. This tour doesn't include stops at the house of seven gables and the witch house but we were able to visit them. A lot of walking! Be prepared with comfy shoes.
This was a great walking tour that we were able to do at our own pace! Being October in Salem, I knew the crowds would be crazy and I wasn’t up for taking a traditional walking tour and struggling to hear the guide. We easily downloaded the app onto our iPhones and could listen with the volume as high as we needed with our EarPods. One note: we had a couple of family members that we met up with who also wanted purchase this tour but they had older phones and could not download the app because it wasn’t compatible with their phone models.
Not worth the fee per person. Everything offered you could do on your own for free! Best to pay for guided tour with knowledgeable person. Never a good idea to wait till day of to choose to purchase event tickets. Our tour group was definitely not prepared or organized for the day.
It way self help. A little bit confusing at first but overall informative. You get to have your own time walking at your own pace and be able to learn about the place, compared to being in a group and sometimes not even hearing the speaker if your at the back of the pack. Would recommend but figure it out first before hand, but easy to navigate around.
Self guided tour was a little choppy-sometimes we were standing in the circle where it app should have activated and nothing happened. In other cases, the walking guidance was very clear and helpful.
Easy to use. Great history. Interesting myth busting facts. Enjoyed the actual turn by turn directions with landmarks.
Very informative and interesting tour. Our guide was bubbly and excited to do her tour. Appreciated her interest in the group and our overall experience during the tour. There was a couple places that we stopped in close proximity to but weren't able to actually go in front of that she spoke about like the old witch jail. I wish we could have gotten a little bit closer but the overall tour was definitely great and I would recommend.
At site 14 the tour booted me out and I couldn’t get it back leaving me with no map or narrative to get me back. I had to Google maps the armory to get back.
Such a great way to see Salem! The audio narration and guidance was perfect. The tour is well laid out and easy to follow. We had a great time
Really good audio tour- we purchased 2 and both wore airpods throughout. We loved that it was self-guided and could pause whenever we wanted to stop or go off route, and that weren’t held to a group schedule. I would 100% recommend this to anyone visiting Salem that’s not keen on gimmicky tours.
This was amazing. Go at your own pace… stop for a coffee or a beer… take in some really fascinating facts. Well worth it and well worth doing it with friends or family.
The guide was easy to understand and the explanations very good, so I highly recommended this experience! 👌🏽
This was a great self guided tour! Highly recommend! Go at your own pace, pause when needed! And of course can't beat the price!
Great tour we could start and stop at our own pace. We learned a lot about the witch trials and Salem
Never could get it to open. Waste of money. Tried off and on all day and never got the email you said I would get. Checked all folders in email accounts and got nothing. Even got the app and nothing worked.
Great self guided tour. Audio good and easy to follow 👌 Would recommend - fantastic town and history Weather wasn't kind to us so we did a few short cuts but saw main parts.
Easy to follow & great narrator. A perfect choice if you want to explore Salem at your own pace while getting an overview of the history.
The app is very easy to use and the narration kept even my teenagers interested in learning about the history in Salem. I am going to look for more look for more self guided tours from this creator.
Very cheap activity to do. Tickets sell out almost every day so you must buy them online starting at midnight the day you want to go. The activity wasn’t worth spending the hour it was very dated, basically a few maniqin sets you look at with a voice over. Very cool outside of the building though. Gift shop is accessible from outside.
We were so happy that we purchased this tour. We learnt a lot of the history and were able to visit Salem at our own pace. We also enjoyed the extra alternates added into the app. The app guides us and starts when we are at the next stop. Highly recommend this tour.
Great self guided tour if you don’t really know anything about salem! Had lots of detail and a map to show where to go that connects to google or apple maps!! Great price and you only have to get it on one phone if you really are trying to save money!
Excellent self-guided tour! Salem is a zoo on weekends so it was just perfect having our own narrator and the app worked well. Very informative and enjoyed being able to take breaks and easily resume.
Waste of money. Never received the link. Rip off. Sent me to the visitor center and they knew nothing about the tour.
This was a great way to move at our own pace with the kids on a busy day in Salem! Very easy to use and well worth the price.
Well worth the money! This tour gets you out of the big crowds and makes the trip more enjoyable. Make sure to not forget your headphones as some places are heavily populated which makes it difficult to hear with just the speaker. Would definitely recommend!
