Gave lots of great information and made you feel like you were there. The narrator was great at telling the story.

This was our second time in Salem, so this was a perfect idea to be able to walk around and stop and shop as I listened to the history! I actually wish it was a little bit longer
It was nice to go at our own pace. Lots of information without getting stuck with a large crowd and walking even slower through the crowds. We even paused to go into a store since we didn't have time to go back. I would do another self-guided store again.
This was great for us. We could go at our own pace. And we paused it to eat lunch. It was easy to follow and there is a map in the app if you aren’t sure where to go. All the sights are in the same vicinity. The only complaint is I would lose the connection sometimes and had to find a position to hear it again. You can rewind it if you miss anything. Bring your AirPods!
This was absolutely worth the money! We enjoyed it so much more than the traditional walking tours because we could explore at our own pace, stop to look around, and shop along the way. I especially loved the pause feature and the map that guided us where to go while sharing the stories behind each location. It was such a neat, interactive way to explore and learn! A little cheesy on the haunting parts but still highly recommend!
Great, informative tour without being to prescriptive with a group, could pause and restart or replay if needed! Can't beat the price.
If you prefer smaller groups, like just you and your family, this is perfect. My wife and I loved this.
Well considering I only paid $8 a person I guess I can't complain too much it's just quite honest it was going way too fast and if is that a place that my daughter and I have literally never been before so we were getting a little lost and we get back on track and then we could follow it it was okay go here and go here and walk down the street and it went too fast where I just shut it off we weren't even halfway finished and I just that was it I left
For $8, the self guided tour was well worth the money, especially during the peak season where tours were booked up and keeping the salem streets busy. The length was nice, not too long and I liked that you could pause and start when you wanted.
The audio voice was pleasant. It was easy to follow and worked well to pause when needed. Good experience.
The app doesn't track in real time. You have to open your maps app and go back & forth.
We found this a very easy app to navigate. The GPS worked well and followed us accurately. Great history lesson!
We only made it to 2 stops. Gps was not accurate. We got so frustrated we finally Gave up and went to our next destination.
It was a really good tour. It was very informative. The directions were very precise about which way to face and how far to walk. We loved the flexibility of being able to stop and start as often as we needed or wanted to. We paused a few times to shop and once to just rest along the way. I felt like we got every bit as good of a tour as we would have with a group tour and paid guide, but we could probably hear better since there were only three of us. By the way, we only purchased one tour and just listened to it from my speakerphone. The only downside was that it ran down my phone battery considerably. So in hindsight, I would’ve brought a charger with me. Something to consider if purchasing only 1 (vs 3) might be that if the crowds had been any larger we may not have been able to hear well, but since we did this in September, all 3 of us were able to hear just fine.
Very informative & fun. Go at your own pace & enjoy the sites. Would do it again! Wear comfortable shoes though.
The narration was great and the sound effects really added to the experience. I have the following advice: Pay close attention to the directions given in the app. Take a few minutes to navigate in the app. One of the guests in my group struggled a little bit. Also I didn’t discover that the EMF meter in the app worked until near the end. But that’s on us.
Clear, informative guide. I’d eliminate the comercial business part of it that seem like only a plug for sponsored businesses.
Wasn’t able to use it due to personal issues, headphones broke. GPS was very confused, lots of internet issues in Salem. Downloaded everything before hand as others suggested it didn’t help us
Enjoyed this narration throughout Salem. Great low cost option to get all of the historic information.
We didn’t get to do the tour when we arrived in town
Couldn’t access audio … walkntours app kept freezing and making my phone both mad and sad. up my phone. Book! And not in the witchy way.
We couldn’t get the self‑guide mobile app to work, and the support team wasn’t available when we reached out. They should provide clear instructions on accessing the booked service through the app and have support available as advertised. I booked this to explore the place at our own pace, but it ended up wasting our time and money. I’ll choose an in‑person guide next time.
Great for when you don’t have a lot of time but want a tour! I do day trips often and this is a great alternative if tours don’t line up! This way you can get a tour on your timeline.
It was nice to be able to go at our pace. We were able to start when we wanted and didn’t have to worry about making the tour in time.
This was a great walking tour of Salem. I was just passing through and it gave a great overlook and I was able to pause it and go in stores as I wish. The guide was easy to understand and follow.
I downloaded the app before we left the campsite. I was prepared to start the tour on my phone. But it kept glitching and pausing on the tour. I had to restart it several times. The tour itself was neat. History behind @ stop was great. Detailed directions were fantastic.
Great experience for our family of 4 (2 teenagers) visiting from Texas. Perfect distance and Length of time. Fun 'spooky' commentary and sound effects. Enjoyed the haunted story telling. Great way to see some highlights in Salem. Thank you!
The tour was okay, atmospheric, but outdated. The Wicked Bookstore has changed, and some buildings are now a different color. Can be confusing.
The app was great! Very informative and an inexpensive way to purposefully experience Salem on your own. There are a couple of parts that need to be updated - One of the banks used as a landmark has a different name now, the "red path" is now yellow, and the "dilapidated white house" where you arrive at Charter St. Cemetery has been repainted in the front. But nothing we couldn't figure out!
A nice, well constructed, self-guided tour of the Salem sights. My daughter & I enjoyed the content and were happy to be able to pause/ restart at our leisure while also being able to visit attractions/ shops along the way
It snowed while we were on our tour and we were able to take our time and enjoy the narration. The ability to pause and go at ones own place allowed us to register and catch all the details!
Easy to download and follow the navigation. The narrator has a nice voice and keeps you engaged. It's a nice walk, no issues walking to the stops.
A friend and I both purchased it and she got it to work and we couldn’t get it to work so it was a waste of money for me.
We gave up on trying. We didn’t know to download the app before we arrived, and each with different cell phones we couldn’t get it so we gave up.
App worked on my phone but kept crashing on my wife's. Also directions were inaccurate to get me to the starting point so I had to use Google Maps. Once I was was there the directions were accurate. The history was fun. If I go again next year, I'll research the history of the sites I want to see and just use Google maps to navigate my way around. Owner did offer me a refund.
The WalknTours app was easy to use, easy instructions to get the tour downloaded. The tour itself was accurate and well done. Price was right. Would definitely do another one.
This was the highlight of our stay in Salem. There are really two Salems. one is a commercial glitzy shops and such and the other is the actual history of the town. This walking tour left us feeling we understood the when and some of the why's of what happened here. Well worth the price
The self guided tour was great! Since you go at your own pace and listen to it with earbuds/airpods you can hear everything it tells you in the tour. Much better than a huge group with a tour guide that either talks too fast or not loud enough for the entire group to hear. It also gives you time to get to the next stop before it starts telling you about it. I would definitely do this again on another trip. Definitely recommend!
I definitely recommend buying this. Went at our own pace and it was informative! We were able to pause easily and return to right where we left off. Worth the money for sure.
Skip the stuffy, crowded tours. These walking tours give you a chance to see what the town has to offer and out-of the-way places that you can go back to later. These walking tours narration, music and navigation ensures you enjoy the tour and don’t get lost. Our paranormal activity meter (included!) indicated ghosts in a shop up the block from the Bewitched statue.
It’s was great you got to go at your own pace, could pause if you seen something you wanted to stop at.. gave great detail to subject..
You need to start at the beginning of the tour. We had to backtrack to get back on the right track. Very cute tour...on a full moon to boot!
I tried to contact the walknapp and you because the app wouldn't run my phone said it had a bug and when that was fixed I could update the app but it never got fixed so I couldn't do the tour.
We were looking to do a ghost tour but most of them seemed to be 2 hours. My husband needs knee surgery so standing that long is a challenge. This tour was exactly what we needed. We could move at our own pace, sit when we needed to, and ever stop for lunch. This was our third stopover to Salem and this tour had us seeing new things and learning some fun history. The directions were perfect.
I was genuinely impressed with the quality and content. The self-paced nature of the tour made it easy to take in additional details at various stops or to take the occasional coffee/snack/shopping break, and the GPS function of the app worked very well to keep the tour audio progressing based on our location. Definitely worth the few dollars it cost.
I went on the Salem walking tour when I was visiting there in August 2025! It was great! I did it with my best friend and we loved being able to learn more about Salem and the history. Also love that they give you directions on where to walk very clearly without interrupting the experience.
This walking tour was awful. Every time I paused it, it jumped back to the beginning of the section of the tour. I spent more time trying to return to where I had paused, so I eventually gave up. That was a waste of money.
Some of the building colors are different as owners changed perhaps , but new paint is not always the color noted. Also if doing with a partner, using the same account and sharing earbuds might eliminate variables heard by each individual, hubby would pause his whole walking and I kept mine going so we would have to wait up or catch up at some locations. My suggestion is if using two accounts, decide in advance to walk while it plays the whole time.
The set up is easy and the narration if great. Let’s you take a break whenever you want. I am going to look for this app whenever I travel from now on
This self.guided tour definitely enhanced our time in Salem and kept us engaged during our visit. It was easy to use and had clear directions between locations.
