Private Nantucket Beach Fishing Activity With A Guide

Wonderful fishing trip with a kind profession! We had the best day!!

Despite the fact that we caught no fish we had a great time, saw a beautiful part of the beach in Nantucket and learned a few things about fishing!

Great time with Steve. He was extremely knowledgeable and treated us like we were a part of his family. My 14 year old grandson, who is really into fishing, thought he was great. We all had a really fun time.

If you want to fish while in Nantucket, book a trip with Steve Tuna. He is the nicest host and takes care of everything. He will do everything possible to make it fun and memorable. My son, father and husband had a great time and caught some sizeable bluefish. Steve-we can't thank you enough. We hope to see you again in the future!

Wow. A phenomenal time was had by kids and parents alike. With kids eager for rod time we figured this would be a fun Nantucket activity. Right move to call Steve Tuna. He brought plenty of gear, joked that his tires were deflated "I did it in May", and expertly drove us over sand through the dunes. Fishing with kids in the era of instant fun on YouTube can be hit or miss. Steve has the effortless sunniness of a man who's raised his kids and feels joy at being on the beach every day. We trekked out to the most remote part of Massachusetts (Thanks, Steve), had a glorious day of sunshine (Steve can't take credit for that one, though), and used perfectly maintained equipment (Thanks, Steve). Unfortunately none of the kids managed to catch anything (can't really blame Steve for luck) but we all had a great time and learned quite a bit (which is all Steve).

Steve was very accommodating to my 17 year old son and I. Stopped at Wicked Bakery for coffee and breakfast sandwiches before heading out on our early trek. Great conversations and shared a lot of knowledge/experiences of the island, fishing and life. We used that insight to go fishing later that week too and to find the best sand which spots on the island. Great guide and better person!

Steve was an amazing guide and mentor to our son and friends. He is very knowledgeable and kind. And the boys loved his stories!

Great day of fishing with our group! Steve was extremely knowledgeable and everyone (except 1) caught some fish - Steve was also very easy to work with and organize with as we planned the outing.

We had a fun time fishing from the beach. The views were spectacular and even though the seals were hanging around trying to eat our bounty, we liked seeing them. Thank you Steve for a fun morning and bringing my flip flop to my doorstep that I left behind.

First, we caught Blue Fish! Second, Steve is great with kids and ours had a blast. Third, Steve was born on Nantucket, retired as a Nantucket cop, and is a great tour guide. Fourth, when we got back to our room, my husband realized he had lost his glasses. Steve drove back to the beach and found them in the surf! 5-Stars!

Steve is a fantastic guy in addition to being an excellent fishing guide! Highly recommend!!! He is enthusiastic, polite, funny, and takes an interest in making the fishing experience good for all involved.

Steve Tuna brought my 8 year old son Connor and I fishing on Great Point Beach during our recent Nantucket trip. Steve picked us up at our hotel downtown and drove us out to the beach. I was a little nervous about bringing Connor because he gets bored pretty easy and I was also worried he could not handle the bigger surf cast fishing rods easily. The very first cast we hooked into a bluefish! After casting for a while and having Connor help reel in the next few fish we hooked into, Steve broke out a smaller 7' fishing rod for Connor to try. After working with him on casting for a while, he was able to take right off and handle casting on his own. We caught several big bluefish over the course of 4 hours, fishing in a few different spots. The first blue that Connor caught all on his own was followed in by a brown shark and almost bitten in half! We saw the brown sharks a few more times after that. I can't recommend fishing with Steve Tuna enough. He was fun and informative, and growing up on the island he knows where the fish hang out. Not only was this trip the highlight of our Nantucket trip, this was the highlight of Connor's entire year and a trip he will never forget. Can't wait to book the next time we are visiting!

This was best surfcasting experience ever. We caught fish and had a blast. Steve , our guide, was incredibly knowledgeable and fun. He told us all about Nantucket and the history of the island he grew up on.

Steve was knowledgeable and a wonderful instructor. He was so patient and kind to our 12 year old and 9 year old. We were nervous that our 9 year old would lose interest, but Steve stuck with him, and by the end our son didn't want to leave! It was wonderful being on a different part of the island, and Steve was a fun guy to spend an afternoon with.

Steve is the perfect combination of teacher and guide; as beginners he took the time to explain the fundamentals of shore casting, emphasizing proper technique. Steve knows the Nantucket landscape very well, consistently guiding us to the best fishing areas on the island. I guarantee you will be 100% satisfied.

Having grown up on Nantucket it has always been on my bucket list to learn to surf cast….the right way! I went out with my husband and son and Steve. It couldn’t have been a better day! He showed us how it’s really done. He took us to great spots, explained what to look for when watching for the fish feeding, showed us the nuances of casting and patiently untangled my lines as I seemed to cross everyone that was on either side of me. I was a pro by the end. He is easy going, a gifted storyteller, a fish whisper (lol) and just a lot of fun to spend the day with. The true highlight of the summer and maybe the whole year actually!! We will definitely do it again.

Great day fishing with Steve! I’ve gone out with three different guides on Nantucket over the years. Fishing with Steve was the best by far. I highly recommend going with him. He is a knowledgeable but also very fun and easy going. From my 8yr old daughter: “It was so fun. I got to catch fish off the beach and my dad FINALLY caught one!”

Steve met us near the gate house and took us out to Great Point for an epic fishing tour. He showed us his favorite spots and we settled on two. We started casting on the west side before relocating to the opposite shore. As someone new to fishing, I felt like a pro by the end! I strongly recommend Steve Tornovish if you’re looking to do some fishing on Nantucket. I hired him to take me and my girlfriend out for a morning of fishing on the beach. My GF had never gone fishing before, and I don’t have much experience. He was very good at explaining the basics and in getting us on a good spot, right away. He has a very pleasant demeanor that makes it easy to tell him you’ve fouled up a line, or something. My cute little GF was able to catch a nice bluefish on her first day-an experience she will never forget. I had a blast. Steve’s a great guy and a damn good fishing guide. Recommended.

Steve took our family, including 3 preteen/teen boys, out for a private beach fishing trip. He was very knowledgeable, entertaining and helpful! One of my sons was hesitant but it was the highlight of our vacation! Thanks Steve!

While on the island my brother and I wanted to get away and do some fishing. We found Steve and are so happy that we did. Steve worked for us to put us on fish and it made for an awesome outing. We caught multiple strippers at our first spot with the chance at a few others. When the conditions changed we picked up and moved to the next spot where we were able to hook into a few bluefish. This trip was well worth the money and Steve is a great guy. He was friendly, personable and overall a genuine dude. When our family comes back to the island I will be "hooking" up with Steve again! Want to have a great time fishing the beaches of Nantucket with a seasoned fisherman native to the island then Steve is your guy. He is a great guy that knows the island like the back of his hand, has a personal connection to be able to read wind direction and speed matched with tide patterns and how to piece that together to put you on fish. We caught stripers on one beach, conditions shifted so we moved to the opposite side of the island and immediately (1st cast) started hooking into bluefish. Steve is personable and a lot of fun to spend a day with. Highly recommend choosing him as your surf fishing guide option when on Nantucket.
