Enjoyed it, .wish we had time for a longer tour with our guide, hecwas very knowledgeable about the history and facts contrary to what we were taught in school.

Reviews
The tour guide was knowledgeable but gave too much of a commentary about how the same social issues are present today. I was expecting more factual information about the progression of the conflicts that led up to the American Revolution and what the role of the key players were. It seemed very surface level basic information and it lacked focus. Additionally, the tour guides listed seemed more in line with what I was expecting but it doesn't appear that they do the public tours???
We did a 12:30 tour on the last Sunday of May. Sorry I forgot the name of our tour guide but he was great and it was a perfect time frame for our 1 day trip to Boston.
Prior to booking our Freedom Trail tour, we went to Reddit for unfiltered opinions and reviews. The general consensus was that Boston Town Crier was a solid choice and it didn’t disappoint. Our guide “James Otis” was fantastic; he kept the group engaged with a balance of fun and facts. If you are planning a trip to Boston to do the whole touristy thing, add this to your itinerary.
Wonderfully done next time will go with my husband ! Stayed in character and was knowing of that time and how they did things. A nice glimpse of the time!
Unfortunate circumstances. I had booked a PRIVATE tour for our 7 family members. On the morning of the tour I received a call that our guide was sick and could we change the time from 11:30 to 2:30. it was an inconvenience but we rearranged our schedule and said ok. I called to reconfirm. When we arrived at appointed time we were told no private guide was available but we could join the small group already scheduled. That group turned out to be almost 30 people. When asked about the refund difference, he talked a credit. I said no and wanted a refund difference of almost $300. We did the tour but felt cheated. I have not received the credit as of today which is a week later. Very disappointed with this experience.
Because trip advisor never told the company that was running the freedom trail, that we paid and schedule a tour. So we never got our private tour at all
We had the best time. Can't see enough about our guide or the company. Took a field trip and can not recommend enough!
Very detailed guide. He added an extra stop to Beacon Hill area. He knew his history of the Freedom Trail. Add Paul R stop to tour it was near where we ended.
“Samuel Gray” was an excellent and interesting host and docent for our tour, with great storytelling skills and a wealth of new history and information. He was considerate and led our group with great skill. I would highly recommend this tour, and ask for “Samuel Gray!”
Very informative!!! Our guide Samuel Gray (Jeff) was fantastic. He was very knowledgeable and our family had a memorable day.
We weren’t sure which tour we wanted so went to the visitors center and this is the one they offered us. The tour was great. Our guide was very knowledgeable and did a great job of making stops in the shade, which was particularly important because it was rather hot. He did a great job separating fact from fiction what we may have known.
Our guide was on character. We learned a lot about the Revolution in Boston. He was very knowledgeable and our tour was very enjoyable.
I learned things I never knew about the events leading up to the American Revolution. The tour was fun and informative, and our guide was great!
Very informative tour, lots of history and great sights. Was very pleased that there was a little extra to keep kids entertained!
Our Belgium guide was very informative and interesting. He did a very good job. We enjoyed the history lesson.
Jeff (aka Samuel Gray) was a wonderful tour guide. We learned so much about the various historical sites that we visited and he was funny, friendly and engaging throughout! This is a tremendous way to learn a ton about the Freedom Trail and since it is only 90-100 minutes, you have plenty of time to go back and spend more time at the sites if you so choose. Highly recommended!
We really enjoyed the walking tour. We had the 12:30 tour on Oct 11. The guide presented a lot of interesting information about the people and history of Boston. The group was small so we were able be in close to hear all of the questions and answers. This was our first trip to Boston.
The tour guide played the part of James Otis, who had been a real patriot. He was informative, knowledgeable and professional. He kept us moving and allowed us to "vote" as a group how we wanted to add a bit more to see additional areas. He injected humor at the right time. KUDOS! This is a great tour group to book.
We really enjoyed the history lesson - our tour guide did an amazing job. So glad we did this. You hear bits of history you would not hear otherwise.
Our guide was very informative with a great sense of humor! The pace was perfect and a great deal. Highly recommend to tourists.
Our Informative & entertaining guide made the tour a great 1.5 hours! He answered many questions from the group in addition to his planned talk which added lots of details!
So great! Jeff was a wonderful guide. Knowledgeable and entertaining tour. Have lived in New England our whole lives but enjoyed learning a lot about the history of Boston!
Informative. The stories went well beyond my knowledge. From the earliest settlers and settlements to the Revolutionary War and 1811.
Informative and fun guide, interesting and not the usual elementary-level information...a lot of detail. Walk is just the right length. Would highly recommend.
Our guide was great…easy to understand and had so much knowledge to share. It really brought those history book pages to life!
Jeff was great! We loved it! It was so fun to hear about the history and see it while listening. Loved the costumes.
Not what we expected and not for us. I was expecting a tour guide who was in character, but ours was cracking wise jokes and telling irrelevant stories. Kids were bored, as he was hard for them to follow, so we cut out early.
Our guide was very knowledgeable and very funny. His knowledge coupled with his ability to make us laugh and keep us entertained throughout was unparalleled compared to other tours I’ve taken. This was my second time on a freedom trail tour and my first with Boston Town Crier and this company, and in particular our tour guide, was excellent! I would highly recommend!
This was easily some of the best money we spent on our trip! Our guide was engaging and the history was really enjoyable to hear about.
Great tour. Some interesting and well done. The guide had a microphone and portable speaker which made it very easy to hear.
Our tour guide was funny, personable, and kept us super engaged the whole time! I would totally recommend this to any Boston tourist!
We enjoyed the informative and humorous approach of our tour guide: Benjamin. He shared colorful stories and helped us understand more about key figures and the "why" of the Boston Tea Party and Revolutionary War. I also noticed how Benjamin interacted with children on our tour: he involved them! The only tip we would suggest is to perhaps include in one or two stops a visit inside one of the structures such as the church where Benjamin Franklin was christened.
It was wonderful! Our tour guide Jeff was very informative and he kept our attention. Definitely recommend!!
Really enjoyed this informative walking tour. I now know a lot more about the history of the USA and the significance of Boston.
Excellent tour guide with a sense of humor. Learned a lot. Very fun excursion. You would highly recommend.
The guide was fine but his speaker did not work properly which was annoying and there were too many people.
Our docent was wonderful. He was extremely knowledgeable played his character so well (James Otis), answered all of our questions and really made everything so interesting and he was so humorous that it was also a lot of fun. I was honestly quite sad when the tour was over. I thoroughly enjoyed this and I would absolutely recommend it. Make sure you get the James Otis character.
Excellent tour. I felt the tour guide was very knowledgeable. Yes, you only compete 12/16 stops on the trail, but almost two Hours in I felt it was time for a break any way. The rest you can do on your own. The U.S.S constitution has tours guides as well as bunker hill.
Excellent tour that made me fall more in love with Boston and American history! Highly recommended!!
The tour guide was interesting and kept a nice pace with his remarks.. He had a good sense of humor and had slot of interesting facts and stories.
Ben was great! He was knowledgeable, funny, and made the whole experience very enjoyable! I loved the period clothes and how animated he was!
James Ottis was our guide. He was great! He was very animated in his story telling. We truly enjoyed it.
We had the best tour guide. He said he was James Otis one of the most outspoken patriots!! He stayed in character as he told us about his life and death. Definitely worth the trip. ❤️❤️
The tour guide used inappropriate language and made innapropriate jokes with little kids present in the group. He spent a large amount of time speaking about the Indians and little time about the American Revolution.
Educational and fun! My 10 year old really enjoyed seeing the historical sites she learned in school. The information was digestible for kids and adults and the tour was not too long. I'm a wanna be history buff so I thoroughly enjoyed the information and learned something new.
My wife and I joined about 20 other visitors. Our guide was most informative, personable, and humorous. A very worthwhile experience.
