This was such a great way to get around, see the sights, and the drivers were so kind and fun! We also learned a lot! Very fun and helpful to use this trolley for the day.

Interesting. Good Information. Some stops have long waits for trolley limiting how many stops you can get on and off.
Good experience. Went to several points of interest. Got to see a lot. Weather was nice, no rain. Yay!
Cog was an excellent tour guide. He was very knowledgeable as well as funny. The bus was comfortable and they were able to accommodate my partner's electric scooter. The orange tour bus pick up was quite a distance from the green line at stop 7.
This was a mixture of awesome and horrible. The 1st guide was not very good or interesting, and from the back of the bus, she could not be heard very well, and was hard to understand. Also, it was a rainy day when we started, and when the thick plastic is down over the windows you can't see out, pretty much at all. The plastic is thick and scratched and has marks and splotches on it, so honestly you can't see out at all, and certainly not well enough to take a picture of anything. BUT later on it stopped raining and warmed up a little, and once we were able to raise the plastic up, it was really nice, and the back of the trolly is higher, so can see better. AND after we got on again we had a much better guide, who we could hear well and he was excited to show and tell us everything he could! Thank you Devlin!! He was amazing, one of the best guides we had ever had on a tour. He spoke loud enough and gestured and pointed out everything, and is was really interesting and fun. So some of the trolly was great, and some was absolutely horrible!! We stayed on longer once we got Devlin just to hear and see what we had missed. On a rainy day I might take the hop on/off bus just because of the plastic, and depending who your guide is. Sometimes even in good weather people don't want the plastic raised because of wind or cold, but that is really the only way to see out. So if you can sit in the back, it helps and would not bother people who wanted to stay warmer in the front. The price was just the same for the bus or the trolly. We just walked out a couple of blocks and bought our ticket at a kiosk next to the dock/cruise ships. Trolly and bus were both there, and both had same price. Also both would take you right back to the ship at the end of the day so you don't have to walk in case of rain or time. We were lucky and didn't have to wait long for the trolly, although it was Oct, so not so busy.
Overall this was very enjoyable. Until we got off at the North End stop for lunch. It wasn't convenient to any restaurants (or anything else) and required walking three blocks backwards.
A good way to see a lot of Boston without walking so much. Which driver you get makes a huge difference! Bern Zee was outstanding.
Our driver, Bailey, was the best. He was so knowledgeable and made the tour. There was a bit of trouble hopping back on because there were no seats. Once we got on we understood why nobody wanted to hop off.
Highly recommend. Friendly and welcoming staff. Bunker was an amazing guide and driver!
It was the worst and terrible travel experience with this tourcompany. If you travel with the cruise, do not book this tour. First, we were over charged by this company for a regular charge hop on hop off trolley that listed for $44 to $70 per person when we checked out. It was very misleading advertizing. BOSTON was one of our cruise stop from Princess which docked in the pier around 11 am. We rushed to the meeting point and found our long line over there. We waited for almost an hour to get into the trolley and it was almost 12:30. In the trolley, we found the last trolley is 4:00 pm from stop 1. When the trolley arrive at stop 1, it was almost 1:00 pm. The trolley stopped there till 1:15 pm and then start to let people hop on. The trolley leave stop 1 round at 1:30 pm. When we arrive at stop 8, it was 3:00 pm. We asked the driver when will be the best time to catch the trolley back to the cruiseship terminal on time, he said befor 4:00 pm. We hop off the trolley at stop 8 at 3:00 pm and walk back to stop 8 at 3:45 pm. Two tolley passed by and the driver said it was full and do not let us in. Both driver did not provide any assistance. Both driver said there were plenty of seat in next trolley. They just drove off. It was 4:15 pm. We call the trolley customer service 3 times and no one answer the call. It was 4:30 pm, another trolley come by, it was full too. This time the driver suggest anyone are willing gave up thier seat. One couple's wife are willing sit on her husband seat leap together in the same one seat and recommend me and wife to do the same thing. It was a horrible experience to pay $140 to a travel excursion so call hop -on-hop-off trolley. I check their review and found out that many customers has the same bad experience. There was no such thing as hop-on-hop-off trolley. So it was an known issue and the compamy never plan to fix it. It was a terrible business practice. I may file a complaint to BBB. My vacation time in Boston was ruined by this company practice. I was so stressful that I cannot catch the trolley back to the cruiseship terminal on time to miss my ship. I paid $140 to stay on the trolley for 2 hours and another 2 and half hour just wait for trolley . I felt i was ripped off and mistreated. Do not pick this excursion espcially you are from the cruiseship
Did a great job, taking us to all the hotspots and landmarks in Boston. The tour guys were very knowledgeable too.
I can't say enough about how fun our trip was. Our driver BurnZee was awesome, we couldn't have asked for a better guide around Boston's sights and history. The tickets are somewhat pricey but we thought they were very worth it. My only regret is that we did not do an earlier tour, as we missed out on the "orange" tour featuring Beacon Hill/back Bay Area. We just didn't want to miss out on what BurnZee had to say! I highly recommend this tour.
The line to get onboard from the ship was very long and they said it would be about an hour before the next bus. We ended up buying another tour. We did not use this this tour. We waisted our 6 tickets.
This is the BEST way to see and experience Boston. You don't have to worry about parking because the garage is nearby. I am so glad I took the Airbnb's advice!
We are cruising so there were a lot of people getting off the ship and wanting to do this tour. We had to wait for an hour to get on one. Not really an issue as you know you will have to wait but when we finally got on one we had to swap trolleys at Stop 1 and wait 20 mins again. Then trying to get back on one after getting off at one of the stops was impossible. We ended up catching an uber back to the ship. Expensive for what you get and really don’t get. If you are cruising don’t do this. Do an uber into the city get off near the Massachusetts State House and explore on your own from there. Definitely do the State House.
We had a great time touring Boston on the Hop on Hop off Trolley tour. Big Wheel kept it entertaining and knows a lot about the city. Would definitely recommend as a great way to get around the city. What was also nice is when the cruise ships are in the trolley picks up and returns you to the ship which was awesome.
Best way to visit a city! Guides are knowledgeable and entertaining. Stop 7 is famous Cheers bar.
This experience was exactly as I expected. A lot of well-marked city stops located throughout. Timing was great between buses.
Very informative. Easy on and off stops. Drivers were funny and knowledgeable about the area. Would highly recommend
Timbo was the driver. Friendly, informative and helpful. Our time was limited so we did not get off the bus.
Very informative tour and very friendly, knowledgeable and patient driver Pudge was terrific!
This was an amazing city tour! Our driver/guide Beanie was fantastic! She was so fun, knowledgeable and informative. I would highly recommend this tour and tour company. They made traveling with my mother and her motorized mobility scooter a breeze!
Excellent tour-I highly recommend. Guides were very informative!
The tour Guides were very good but we where on a time schedule in Boston we spent more time waiting then seeing the city. We would go to a stop and watch 2 buses pass us. We were scared to get off as there were no seats and didn’t know if we would be able to get on a different bus. For the cost this was not a great value.
My wife and I came up to Boston from North Alabama. This tour was an amazing way to get around the city and get to see a lot off the big amazing stuff around.
Not good for taking photos through the plastic windows. Guide (driver) was very informative and safety conscious.
Great way to see the city and get the history along the way!! Tour guides were knowledgeable and very friendly!!
This is a great way to see the city, however, a cruise ship docked the day we were using it and the lines to get back onto the bus became very long. Our wait times to get back onto the trolley kept us from seeing some of the sites we wanted to visit.
Not super wheelchair user friendly. Goes really fast, hard to see or take pics unless you get off at each stop and walk, but we had to wait an hour in line just to get on the first time, so we didn't want to get on and off and have the same experience. Beanie was definitely the best tour driver/guide. Get her if you can! Disappointed that not all of the drivers even checked tickets. We paid a lot of money for our tickets and for them not to check tickets is crazy.
Make sure you have the website with the live tracking of trolleys on your phone. The site works great. Be aware that sone trolleys may not stop as they are full. Another will arrive shortly. This only happened to us one time at an early stop. Further along the stops were fine. Know what is in the area ahead of time at each stop So you can see what you want. We really enjoyed it and the drivers telling the stories. We were staying in the seaport area and it was extremely convenient for us.
Great experience! Good way to get around and check out sites if you’d never been to this city! Drivers were very knowledgeable
Wish we new the following before we booked this tour. The Trolley has 3 routes ( Green, Red & Orange). You can't ride one Trolley to see all locations. You have to get off at either stop 7 or 9 then pick up a different color route. The problem is we waited for over an hour in the cold for the Blue Trolley which never came. So if you get off, you don't know how long you could be waiting for the next Trolley you need. Then they gave us a sticker to put on our jackets to get on & off. At one of the stops the man wanted to see our tickets even though we had stickers on our jackets. My husband tried to bring them up on his phone and it took awhile. I asked the man why we had to show are tickets again after we had have been riding the Trolley for hours and we have the stickers on our jackets. He said the stickers are just souvenirs. My husband finally got the ticket from his phone & the guy used the word nice scam. If this Boston humor no THANKS!!!!!!
To start it was very hard to find the bus outside of the Port cruse terminal. We had to walk a while. There was really nobody to tell us where to go. Finally, we did find a little tent on the corner and they told us where to go walk around to get into the bus. We had to wait a good 15 to 20 minutes. Finally, at 12:30 we were seating for the tour. Then the bus stopped several times to get passengers on and off at times. Even stopping for extra 10 to 15 minutes. The tour took a little bit over 2 hours if you ride the bus completely but it stops at 4:00 p.m. and honestly we never got much time to get off the stops because of the waiting and the delays. 😔 Our ship did not leave until 7:30 p.m. but the bus stops running at 4:00 p.m. and you are forced to get back to the ship at that time. I would not recommend taking the hop-on hop off if the cruise line arrives after 10:00 a.m. You are better off getting an Uber or a taxi into the center downtown and doing walking tours from there.
We took the Ghosts and Gravestones Trolley Tour for a work outing, and it was an incredible experience! The team was responsive and helpful throughout the planning process, and our guide, Harlan, was funny, informative, and did a great job keeping our group safe. Everyone had a fantastic time, and we highly recommend this tour!
Great way to see historical Boston. Very convenient and informative. There could be a lot of walking to see some of the spots. The streets can be confusing.
We really enjoyed the narrator in our bus. We changed a couple of times and the first one was the easiest to listen to and had great information. I wish I could remember his name to give credit. He made some repeated references to Paul Revere. The other drivers were also good, but not as easy to listen to. We waited awhile to change to the orange route. When ready to return to our cruise, there were many of us waiting. The tour group immediately addressed our concerns and brought another bus to accommodate everyone.
An Absolute Must-Do in Boston – The Best Way to See the City! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ If you are planning a trip to Boston, do yourself a huge favor and book a ticket for the Old Town Trolley Tour. As a first-time visitor, I wanted a reliable way to navigate the city's confusing, historic streets while taking in all the major landmarks, and this tour exceeded every expectation. It is entirely deserving of its reputation as one of the top trolley tours in the world! The 100% live narration is what truly sets this experience apart. The conductors are incredible—infusing deep historical knowledge with a great sense of humor and personal flair. They bring the stories of the American Revolution to life in a way that keeps you completely engaged from start to finish. The absolute best part is the ultimate flexibility of the hop-on, hop-off feature. With convenient stops scattered right next to iconic sights like the Freedom Trail, Faneuil Hall, Boston Common, and the USS Constitution, you can easily customize your own itinerary and explore the city entirely at your own pace. As a massive bonus, your ticket also unlocks great discounts on other premier local attractions, including the Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum and historic harbor cruises. It is an incredible value, highly entertaining, and a seamless way to experience the very best of Boston. Don't miss it!
Gave us a good tour of the city. Just got too crowded in the afternoon. Should figure out a better plan when there are cruise ship passengers to accommodate.
My friends and I purchased tickets at port terminal for the public trolley bus, costing $75 each. The queue to get on the bus was long and the guy at the stop seemed unconcerned about the wait for the next bus, which we had to wait for. The conductor then took half an hour to load a scooter for a disabled person who said she could fold it and carry it on but the trolley guy just said it’s all good practice (for the driver) and left everyone waiting in the sun until the scooter was loaded. It then took another 15 mins to get passengers on and underway, only to find it was a blue line bus and we had to get off at the next stop and wait a further 20 mins for next trolley which was practically full up. All in all we managed 2 stops in 7 hours, once at Cheers and then Boston Tea Party. Unfortunately, by the time we got to the Tea Party we had no time to do the tour as the last bus to cruise terminal was at 5.30. None of the bus drivers or the attendants at the stops had any sense of urgency and it was totally disorganised. When we had a moan at one of them she said that every trolley they had was out, and it was unfortunate that so many people were not getting off! We said that maybe they were too worried to get off in case they couldn’t get on another one! It cost us $300 to do 2 stops. It would have been cheaper to get taxis! I would give no stars if it was possible 😡
Stops are very easy to find, and the trolleys arrive on time. It was a good way to get a quick lay of the land, but the drivers (we had 3) were not too forthcoming with extra details of the sights. Pretty much just read off a list of what building was what. I will give them all credit for driving through those narrow streets, though!! So glad to just ride along.
It was good. It was supposed to be 13 stops. We started at #1 and ended around #8. It could have been related to the time of day.
This was a good way to see some of the main highlights of the city, as we were only there for a day. If you only have 1 day, like I did, make sure you plan where you want to get off to explore more and start with the first tour. Use the map from the text to see wait times and also a picture of the wait location. We did this tour on a Sunday so traffic wasn't that horrible. Be sure to go down the slide by City Hall!
I have been on old trolley tours before, and they have been wonderful. I think in this instance, they over sold the tickets. We waited for almost an hour before a trolley even stopped to let anyone on. At that point there were 25 of us waiting, but they only had room for four of us. I asked for a refund. But to be fair, other experiences have been great.
Maureen was the best! Great personality and great energy! Enjoyed our trolly tour tremendously!
I had a great time. I was solo tourer and I had mr. Chris as my driver. He was very knowledgeable, funny, and made the experience great. He ended up also being my driver on the ghost tour they did and he was great there too!
Great exposure to all of the history and good stops around Boston. We got off at three stops and it was perfect. Back Bay was especially interesting. Timbo gets top marks from us.
Drivers stay on schedule the best traffic allows. Great way to see the main points of interest so you can make a list of places you want to go back and spend more time at. Driver narration was very interesting and informative. Timbo made it a great experience if you happen to get on his bus!
Its has a ton of history with a few jokes filled in for entertainment. Drivers are funny and very helpful. Loved it
Waited an hour at the stop for a first pickup at the cruise terminal. Got there at 9:20, time of the first pickup. A trolley was pulling away. Watched a bus go behind the stop that was full. When the trolley finally arrived, it was half full. Got off at two stops. Decided better not get off anymore as the trolleys were becoming full and only able to take on a few passengers or completely passing a stop because they were full. they should only sell enough tickets as they can handle. Guides were knowledgeable but a little too corny.
This was great! However, I would recommend this most to people that are able to leisurely wander around the city. Great way to get to all the sites, but you have to give yourself plenty of time. I would not recommend this method of travel if you're trying to get to a scheduled tour. It's a much slower pace, especially depending on traffic and the amount of people that are getting on and off at each stop.
