Brian makes this tour so fun. It’s a small group (our group had 4 people), so there was a lot of time for questions and interesting stories. Brian has a lot of energy and is very passionate about Boston history. I would highly recommend this tour!!

Brian was an amazing guide. His energy and love of Boston made it an unforgettable experience. His depth of historical knowledge, architectural history, and the historical who's who of Boston is second to none. Honestly, if you don’t take a tour with Brian, you're missing out.
Brian is a very knowledgeable, entertaining and truly local guide. We learned so much and I had taken other Freedom Trail tours in the past. It was truly a pleasure to spend time with Brian. He knows so much history and embellishes it with architectural knowledge and local anecdotes. It feels like much more than a simple job to him. And he's really funny!
Brian is great! His knowledge and local expertise is remarkable! Do what he says and you won’t be disappointed
I think that it was a very good experience and Brian was very informative. However, I do think the information presented needs to be reconfigured in a more concise manner because I felt like I was being a lost after a while due to the amount of information presented. I liked that he took the time to take us to show us other points of interest that we're not necessarily on the freedom trail but are historical facts and do add richness of the experience. I liked Brian's energy but it was definitely very very high and it made it a little hard to follow. I'll be honest, I really don't remember that much because so much was presented. But the overall mood and the vibe were really great. I really appreciate that Brian gave us a more intimate tour and was not using a megaphone to shout info at us. It just made it more relatable that way. I would recommend Brian's tour regardless. It was very lively yet intimate.
Brian knows his stuff. His energy was almost overwhelming! If you want to know LOTS of tidbits on LOTS of subjects, he is your guy. If you want a slower, more organized tour, you might want to look elsewhere. With Brian, you WILL NOT be bored.
We thoroughly enjoyed our Beacon Hill walking tour. Our guide, Tom, was incredibly knowledgeable and took the time to highlight the architectural evolution throughout this beautifully preserved and protected neighborhood.
The tour might not suitable for youger kids most of the tour was looking at buildings and things while listening to the guide. Our guide did not even stop to ask when stayed behind.
Lots of history in a two hr span. Great for adults, probably a little too much info for kids under 10 to take in. Entertaining and spirited. Thanks.
Brian was awesome! He kept us entertained the entire time with plenty of fascinating stories. He even took us a little off the main trail to share some incredible historical insights. A few of us looked them up during the tour and were blown away by how accurate and detailed they were. You can tell he really knows his stuff. He was also amazing with the kids on the tour, keeping them engaged and making it fun for everyone. Highly recommend!
This was a really great tour with Brian. I loved the unique local perspective he brought to the tour. The best part was the joke he made about having a cold Sam Adams across from a cold Sam Adams - so we went back to the bar across the street from the cemetery to do just that. The tour was the right amount of history, fun, local tips. I really liked that it was 2 hours - just long enough to see enough, not too long to take up our whole day.
This was a GREAT history tour. The guide Brian was so knowledgable. Highly recommend if you want to take in the sites and get some steps!
Brian was an incredible tour guide. Informative and entertaining, he brought the Freedom Trail to life for us. Throughout the journey, there were random passersby leaning in to learn from his enthusiasm and insight into the history of Boston. From the 54th Regiment Memorial (the sword is rubber!) to the Granary’s Franklin Memorial (Ben’s not there), we can’t recommend his services enough.
Birthplace of the revolution with a spectacular guide! You can't ask for more when you book with Tours by foot. I've gone on their tours in several cities and they never disappoint. The guide was great too, knowledgeable with a fabulous sense of humor. Made the tour feel educational and entertaining!
We trusted the thousands of reviews and chose this tour among so many options. Best decision ever! It was indeed a small group very intimate and Brian was a riot! He delivered an excellent tour in his Boston style and we loved it. Highly recommend this for anyone trying to mazimise their time in Boston and on the Freedom Trail.
As a historian, I am keen to take walking tours because there is always something new to learn, and this tour of the Freedom Trail did not disappoint! The guide was not only knowledgeable, but also added "fun facts" and humor about colonial figures, both well known and more obscure, which made his storytelling come alive. He was also happy to answer all of our questions, even encouraging them along the way. If you're in Boston, take this tour! You will feel like you're walking back in time!
Amazing tour of the Freedom Trail! I loved the hidden details we would not have noticed without a local. It was a great intro to Boston.
Such a fantastic experience! The tour was the perfect mix of history, storytelling, and fun. Our guide made every stop interesting, and we walked away with a new appreciation for Boston. Highly recommend!
A fantastic tour for couples! It was the perfect mix of history, storytelling, and sightseeing. The guide kept us engaged the whole time, and we loved exploring Boston together in such a fun way. Highly recommend!
Great tour for families! The guide made history fun and easy to follow. Lots of cool stories, a nice walk, and a great way to explore Boston together. We loved it!
We always book with Tours by Foot when we're traveling as we know we'll have a great experience and Boston was no exception! We absolutely loved our tour - we appreciated that the group size was not too large and our guide really took the time to answer questions and give us advice for the rest of our trip. Brian is a wealth of knowledge and his Boston accent is perfect! Thanks for a great tour.
Had a great time on this tour! The guide was friendly and knowledgeable, making history come alive with fun stories. The walk was easy, and we saw so many important landmarks. Perfect way to explore Boston. Highly recommend!
I was really excited to finally visit the Freedom Trail on my recent visit to Boston and wanted to more out of it than just walking it alone. I’m so glad I booked this walking tour! My guide was really informative and also made the tour fun. I’d suggest this tour to anyone visiting Boston!
This tour was awesome! Our guide made history fun with great stories and interesting facts about Boston. Walking the Freedom Trail felt like stepping back in time, and we got to see some amazing landmarks along the way. The small group made it easy to ask questions and enjoy the experience. If you're visiting Boston, this tour is a must-do!
At one point on this tour, I thought the whole group was about to go pour tea in the harbor. Brian's storytelling (with his Boston accent) is invigorating and really made Boston's colonial and revolutionary history come alive. We were only in town for a short time so I didn't want to spend 5 hours on a tour so this 2 hour highlights tour was really helpful in experiencing the Freedom Trail without taking our whole day.
We joined Stephen on the excellent “The Story of Boston told on the Freedom Trail” tour. Stephen was so knowledgeable and gave us the Freedom Trail - US/UK history, but also older and more recent history around how Boston was founded to recent times and dodgy Mayors! We really enjoyed our tour with Stephen, he stopped for about the right amount of time at each stop - the pace of the tour felt good and it wasn’t too large a group so didn’t feel overwhelming (as some free tours can be!)
A Wonderful Tour We took the Freedom Trail Tour a few weeks ago and had such a great time. Our guide was Brian, and not only is he a wealth of Boston information, but presents it in a fun and entertaining way. We learned a bunch, laughed a lot and had a wonderful time. Brian is an excellent guide, and I would recommend anyone coming to Boston to join his fun, and informative tour of Boston's History and Freedom Trai
Our guide, Ben, was excellent. He was passionate and very knowledgeable regarding all the history and details. The tour ran a little long but I gained a new insight on events leading up to the revolutionary war
"Free" tours often are amazing as the guides earn their fee by being good. I've actually take three Freedom Trail tours via this company and this one missed the mark by a mile. Brian was our guide and he was in love with his own jokes, made inappropriate comments about people on the tour, and generally was not very good. He was often difficult to hear as well insofar as he would walk ahead and talk to the air in front of him while the group was behind him. I can see others really like him but he was not our cup of tea at all.
We ended up booking with free tours by foot during our 4th of July visit to Boston. Our group was small, which was amazing. We were able to really get to see the area and hear the tour guide. He was also very thoughtful about having us stop in the shade rather than full sun on a very hot day. The freedom trail path we took touched a lot of different highlights and having someone who grew up in the area give the backstory made it a lot more interesting. We’ve done tours with free tour in a bunch of different cities and they’ve always been amazing. They are our go to.
